This scene is the moment very moment I loved the show because, the music is so emotional, you really feel Kara’s anger that has built up and is finally being released. For me, it was the first time you saw a different side to Kara, a more human side…what I mean by this, is she isn’t always bubbly and happy. It’s deeper than just something making her feel sad or angry in a moment it’s much deeper than that.
If I offered you $4 to come to my house and make me dinner and wash my dishes afterwards, would you do it? Probably not. But that’s what a minimum wage worker at McDonald’s can do in a half hour.
What about $8 to come over and play with my kid and teach her to read and change her if she needs it and do all other assorted activities for an hour? Again, probably not. But that’s what a day care worker might do in an hour.
If I paid you $4, would you come over and make my bed and vaccume my room and do some of my laundry and clean my bathroom and pick up trash and dust? Probably not but that’s what a hotel maid might do in half an hour.
When you break it down into smaller increments it’s obvious that people need to be paid more, that the minium wage is pathetic.
“Come on, Feyre, please?” Rhys begs, catching Feyre off guard for a good two seconds, seeing a grown, strong man begging. She quickly recovers, however, flipping her hair as she studies her dress in the mirror.
“Don’t come crying to me last minute, Rhysand, you should have figured out this problem a long time ago.” Feyre answers, intent not to ever agree to any deal involving Rhysand Night, her outspoken enemy but somehow the best friend of her sister’s fiancee.
She is about to walk away from him when Rhys steps into her path, hands raised to stop her from going anywhere. “You don’t understand, Cassian just told me that she was invited, and I was planning on going solo tonight but now, that’s not possible unless we want there to be a scene.”
Feyre puts her hands on her hips. “Just get any other girl to pretend to be your girlfriend for the night, I’m sure there are at least ten listening at the door right now, eager for the chance.” She comments bitterly.
Rhys doesn’t even glance away from her eyes. “That’s the point. With you, there are no expectations, just pretend. Please, Feyre,” He literally gets on his knees. “I’m on my knees, begging you. Just pretend to be my date. One night.”
Feyre studies him for a few moments, weighing the pros and cons. It would keep potential creeps away from her, but would also ward off any cute guys that might notice her as maid of honor. It would also be feeding into the best man screws maid of honor stereotype, but she would love to see the look on the other girls’ faces when they saw them walk in together, as a couple. Not to mention it would be hilarious to see the reaction of this crazy ex-girlfriend of his.
Finally, Feyre sighs. “One night, Rhysand, and I’m not sleeping with you either, so don’t even think about it.”
A brilliant smile lights up Rhys’ face and Feyre can’t help but feel that this is a terrible idea.
"20. things you said that i wasn’t meant to hear" with Supercorp ?
Lena had a bad habit of mumbling to herself. Usually she was quiet enough not to draw any attention, but when you’re best friend and the object of your longtime crush has super hearing, it tends to draw unwanted attention.
Kara ignored it at first, mostly out of privacy for Lena. It’s not like it was anything negative. Usually it was little comments after one of their awkward flirtatious encounters.
“Dammit, Lena, you’re like a schoolgirl.”
“I need to google all of N’Sync’s discography…”
“How can she always look so cute?!”
Kara found it endearing, it always brought a blush to her cheeks and left her giggling the rest of the day. It was getting harder and harder to ignore the mumbles she heard from Lena when Supergirl was around too.
“I do not have a cape kink…”
“Is every kryptonian overly attractive?”
“She just fought a giant robot and she still looks like that… What The Fuck.”
Usually the mumbling didn’t bother Kara. Until she heard something she definitely knew she wasn’t supposed to hear.
Lena and Kara were having dinner at Kara’s place and Lena had excused herself to the bathroom. While she was washing her hands she began to mumble to herself and Kara couldn’t help but catch some of it.
“I can’t believe I’m in love with someone who thinks a pair of glasses is a disguise.”
Her tone was light, an almost chuckle leaving her as she came to the realization. Kara was frozen in the kitchen, her hand resting on the stovetop burner, flames dancing around her hand.
Lena came out and Kara was staring like a deer caught in headlights. Lena’s gaze met her eyes before they dropped to the stove.
“Um, Kara? Your hand is on fire.”
Kara just shut the stove off and was in front of Lena in a second, cheeks red and lip caught between her teeth. She was radiating nervousness.
“How long have you known?”
Lena was caught off guard but she smiled a little, reaching up to gently take Kara’s glasses off her nose before slowly taking her hair out of the ponytail.
“Since you walked into my office with Superman.” she teased.
Kara blushed brightly. “I told him everyone knows who he is…”
“I don’t care about him though.” she smiled, cupping Kara’s cheek. “I much prefer the Maid of Might…”
Lena leaned in and pressed her lips to Kara’s, smiling against her mouth when she felt the superhero melt under her.
They broke apart a few minutes later and Kara smiled, giggling softly.
“I love you too, you know…”
Lena just beamed, “Now I’m kind of glad you were eavesdropping…”
