You’re In Love With Him But He Likes Your Best Friend: Part 2

A/N: This is a filler chapter. Meaning, this is much shorter than part 1. Do not feel dishearted, there will be a longer, more detailed part 3.

Part 1

Masterlist linked in bio.

“Are you ever going to speak to me?”

Y/n freezes as she hears Harry’s voice ask her the question she’s been dreading to answer.

It’s been two weeks since she’s heard that voice. It may sound rougher now, more stern and harsh than it normally is as it growls behind her at the counter of Lexi’s bar, but it’s still the first time she’s heard it in two weeks.

After her sober confessions to a very tipsy, slumberous Harry, Y/n had to understand what it truly meant to move on.

At first, she thought she would still be able to be around him as she searched for ways to rid her feelings. She distracted herself, mostly. She would interact more with Savannah than she would Harry, and even started picking up new habits whenever she felt her emotions creeping in. Anything that reminded her of him was disregarded entirely so that the only time he was able to consume her thoughts was whenever he was near her.

For the first couple weeks, she was holding up quite well, considering the circumstances. She was able to contain her emotions and take her mind off of the raging heartache that kept burning in her chest.

But it wasn’t much long after that night when Savannah and Harry finally became official, and if Y/n wasn’t anguished before, she surely was then. She was forced to witness the transition of their relationship in hindsight. What was once casual flirting and innocent touches turned into secretive giggles and loving hand gestures.

It was as if her heart broke all over again. What seemed to be almost completely mended was destructed all at once. The chase between Harry and Savannah was over, and reality set in that Harry was happy and in love with someone that wasn’t Y/n.

Watching them together was Y/n’s most devastating nightmare, and the thought of that alone meant she couldn’t mentally handle being alone anymore. With all of the emotions built up inside of her, being alone for Y/n meant enduring the pain and suffering she didn’t want to feel anymore. She just wanted it all to end, everything.

The earliest hours of the morning wrecked her the most. With only the moon illuminating the room and the radio silence throughout her house gave Y/n no choice but to be alone with her thoughts. She wasn’t loved, and no matter how many nights she’s tried to convince herself that this wasn’t the end, it was.

She had to let Harry go, completely this time. She gave up on him entirely because she couldn’t keep loving him when he didn’t love her. Not anymore, not like that.

She keeps her back to him as he heaves heavy breaths, eyes sending daggers and teeth clenched from his crippling frustration.

“It’s Thursday, I see,” Harry grumbles before giving her the chance to answer, jaw locked as his fingers grip harshly around a stray, unfinished glass of alcohol. “You never work Thursdays. ’S this where your Friday shifts went?”

There’s an unpleasantly rough tone in his voice that makes Y/n’s breath hitch in her throat. She’s never witnessed this side of him, filled with anger and exasperation. He’s always been so soft and gentle, never having the heart to speak down to someone. But here he is, eyes dark with anger and words spewing venomously from his lips.

And as much she hates to admit it, she can’t blame him for being so angry with her. She knows she means the most to him—even if it’s not in a romantic sense—she’s become such an important part of his life. Ever since they met, she took in the truth about his past, understood the feelings and thoughts he’s carried all through his years, and was able to provide him with anything she was able to when he needed her most. She was one of the very few people he trusted and felt most comfortable with in his life. She was irreplaceable, he’d always tell her, nobody could compare to her. She meant everything.

And then, she left him. She distanced herself so far away from him until it was as if she was never apart of his life. She ignored him and all his attempts to reach out to her again. It hurt her tremendously, knowing that what they had together was completely and utterly helpless, but she never questioned how Harry felt about it. She did what was easiest for her and never thought about it twice. She left him so that he can be happy, but as he stands so tensely and confused before her, she can’t help but blame herself what’s happened between them.

She nods her head softly, still refusing to look up at him as she gathers all the used glasses in front of her, making herself seem distracted so she doesn’t have to make much effort into speaking to him.

“I—uh, yeah. Friday nights were getting hectic and I couldn’t keep up with the late hours. I thought Savannah told you.”

It’s a lie. A shitty, impulsive lie that Harry almost finds humorous. Of course, Y/n switched her Friday night shift. She felt as if she had no choice. She couldn’t bare to look at him with Savannah another goddamn second, and he thought of spending Friday nights with Harry without being alone with him and going to the 24-hour movie theater together was enough to make her sick to her stomach.

“She did,” he clicks his tongue, eyes narrowing as he watches her scramble around the bar, “didn’t have to, though. I knew she was lying.”

Y/n’s actions halt for a moment, a feeling of dread flowing in her veins before she goes back to cleaning off the bar, disregarded his statement completely.

Harry knows Y/n’s been avoiding him, she hasn’t exactly made it as subtle as she thought. Their entire friendship changed, and Harry knows he wasn’t the one ruining it.

The morning after Y/n drove Harry back from the bar, all he could really remember clearly was falling asleep with Y/n. There were other bits he remembered, but that was really the only moment that came to him when he woke up. And he was confused when he woke up alone because, in all honesty, he was looking forward to waking up next to her. It was all his drunk mind thought of, and that terrified him.

When Y/n started distancing herself from him, Harry kept wondering what he had done wrong. She was fine with Savannah, keeping up with their lives as usual. But she was different with Harry—closed off, in a way, and it made him feel something he’s never felt in his life before.

He was confused, to say the least. Because when he was kissing down the bare chest of the woman of his dreams, he couldn’t stop daydreaming about Y/n, and how he hasn’t heard her voice and how he hasn’t felt her in so long.

He had Savannah wrapped around his finger, yet he still felt as if everything about it was wrong. He changed when Y/n left him, because even when he was around the most loving company, he felt alone.

He was helpless. As much as he tried to love Savannah, Y/n was always in the back of his head. She was there, all the time, trapped in his mind with no escape route.

At first, he was confused—upset and lost without Y/n. He didn’t know life without her would feel so lonely, so empty and incomplete. It was strange, not knowing how to live his life without her. He’d never expected her disappearance to be such a hindrance to him, but it was. Oh, how it was.

Then, he was angry—angry because as many times as he tried to get her to speak to him again, she never came back. She was gone, forever.

Now, he’s hurt. So damaged by her leaving his side, so incomplete and destroyed without her with him anymore. His heart is heavy with sadness and he couldn’t let himself feel this way anymore.

He needs her, no matter how wrong and pathetic it sounds, he needs her.

“So you gonna tell me why you’ve been avoiding me, or am I gonna have to force it out of you?” he seethes, nose flaring as he tries to steady his uneven breath.

Y/n shakes her head ignorantly, a flash on innocence in her eyes as she does so. But she damn knows well what he’s talking about, and her oblivion drives him crazy.

“I don’t—I don’t know what you’re talking ab—“

“Oh, fuck off with it!” Harry spits, slamming his closed fist down on the wooden counter.

He doesn’t seem to care about how sudden the bar falls silent, or the glisten of fear in Y/n’s eyes when she finally looks up at him. All he can seem to care about is how much pain he feels, all over. All he can think about is how now, after the last two weeks of not being able to understand why he cares so goddamn much, he’s finally able to feel some sense of sanity being in front of her now.

“You know what you’re doing to me, Y/n! You know damn fucking well what you’re fucking doing and—“

“Harry, please.” Y/n whispers and she isn’t sure as to whether or not she’s begging him to lower his voice or begging for him to understand.

“And it’s not fair!” he cries out, tears of frustration overflowing from his eyes as he grips tightly onto his hair.

His breaking point is approaching, he feels it. He feels it with every breath he takes and every word that emits from his mouth. His heart twists and breaks as he expresses every feeling that’s been consuming him for the past two weeks. He needs her to know what she’s doing to him, needs her to know how he feels in this moment.

“I did nothing to you and you keep pushing me away and that’s not fair because I don’t know how to live without you. Isn’t that something?! I don’t know what to do without you, and you know that!”

Suddenly, his head falls in his hands as he begins to sob. Complete heart-wrenching sobs, making his chest tight and breathing shallow.

Y/n reaches her hand out for him, her fingers clasping harshly around his wrist. Her own eyes start to brim with tears as she watches him sob below her, his body shaking with undying cries. She swallows harshly when he grabs ahold of her hand, bringing her palm against his forehead. His lips reach to kiss her wrist softly, quickly refraining from keeping them there longer.

To touch her, for the first time, is every answer he needs. She’s the only one to make him feel this way—she’s the only one to drive him to the brink of insanity and resurface him back to clarity. She has power over him he never understood until now, after he’s lost her.

“I don’t know why it hurts this much, Y/n,” He cries, his eyes squeezing shut as he inhales sharply, “I’ve never been more confused in my life.”

She chokes on her cries as she nods her head softly, her free hand reaching up to rake her fingers through his hair. Her lips shake from their craving to touch him, watching as he weakens beneath her.

She’s missed him, in the most desperate of ways. She’s missed every part of him, and every atom in her body yearned to feel him again. Whether it was to feel the warmth of him from a distance or to feel his skin ignite her, she wanted every part of him against her. If she wasn’t with him, she was missing him, and craving him with every breath she took.

Her lips press tentatively to his forehead, her breath fanning through his hair as she does so. The action is quick, leaving just as quickly as it comes, but it carries sentimental meaning for the both of them.

Harry frowns, his heart thumping in his chest. He looks up into her eyes, filled with concern and sanity as she maps his features.

“It’s been ever since me and Savannah got together.” He mumbles, eyes watching her face as it pales slightly at his words. “You haven’t spoken to me since.”

Her eyes flutter shut as he speaks, finding it completely pointless to try and make him believe otherwise. He deserves to know, one way or another, and even if it’s now, she feels like she’s already lost him. There isn’t much she’d be losing now, anyways. He was never hers.

“Please leave, Harry.” She whispers.

She backs away from him, her touch leaving him was like a gunshot to his chest. It’s a feeling he’s felt all too much that he can’t bare to feel again.

His heart breaks as he watches her begin to cry, her usual glistening eyes now filled with tears of sorrow. He shakes his head, squeezing his eyes shut as he tentatively takes a step closer to her.

He’s desperate, and he doesn’t care how weak he seems. He’s desperate to see where he’s missed it all along, to know how long he’s been making her feel this way. He’ll never forgive himself for all the pain he’s caused her, for all her nights alone when all she wanted was to be with him.

He could have done so much to change this. If he had just listened to his heart from the beginning, this would all be different now. If he hadn’t been so blind, they would both be happy right now.

“Love, I—“

“Don’t.” she whispers, her voice cracking as she speaks, “Please, don’t.“

She isn’t exactly sure what she’s saying—isn’t quite sure what she’s begging him not to do. Maybe it’s the nickname he’s always called her that makes her stomach twist a bit more, or how he’s trying to make her feel better that makes her eyes sting with a fresh new wave of tears, or how he looks at her now the way he never did before that makes her throat tighten around a sob. Whatever it is that makes her beg, she can’t  handle it anymore.

“I’m trying, Y/n,” He whispers, “please.”

“Please just—“ her eyes flutter shut as she speaks, “just leave me alone.”

Harry lets out an unsteady breath, his green eyes brimmed with red as he watches her begin to sob.

He nods, because he can’t let himself keep doing this to her. If he keeps trying with her in her current state of mind, she won’t be able to think properly. She’ll be a wreck, more so than she is now, and he can’t find it in his heart to do that. Even if it means fighting for her.

“It’s not worth it, you know.” He whispers, his eyes staring lovingly into hers, “Being with her, it’s not worth it if it means losing you.”

Five Times Spencer Reid Got Relationship Advice, and the One Time He Didn’t Need It (Spencer Reid x Reader)

Request done for @redrookrising who wanted “an imagine about Spencer going around to different members of the BAU, asking them how to ask the reader out” Unbeta’d! Hopefully you guys enjoy it!

“Rossi, can I ask you something?” Spencer said leaning on the doorway of Rossi’s office.

“Come in. Sit.” Rossi said, putting the files down.

“So, you know Y/N, the new girl in IA? The one Kevin brought over last week?”

“Ah, yes. She’s a pretty one.” Dave said, recalling with a smile.

“I know it’s frowned upon by the bureau, but I thought since you didn’t say anything when Garcia and Kevin were together that I’d ask you if you had any advice as to how I should ask her out.”

“You come to me in a time of need,” Rossi said jovially. “Just be yourself. But if it helps, in my time, I’ve learned that women like to be treated. A little wine and dine never hurt. Or if you want to really seal the deal…”

“I do.” Spencer said, surely. He couldn’t stop thinking about Y/N.

“Then take her to the city of love.” He clocked Spencer’s taken aback look, “Kid, I’m telling you, just grab a couple of plane tickets and take her to Paris. Works every time. No one does romance like the French.” Rossi reasoned. Spencer shouldn’t have expected anything less, Dave was known for extravagance. Spencer knew that it wouldn’t work, not that Y/N wasn’t worth it. Flashy just didn’t fit her style.

“I’ll consider it,” Spencer lied. “Thanks, Rossi.”

The Death of Savannah Hardin

Little Savannah Hardin (9) of Kenowah, Alabama, was a bright and vivacious child who was the top of her class despite a fractured home life. Her parents were separated, and for much of her early life Savannah was shuttled between homes and caregivers. In early February 2012, Savannah was living with her grandmother Joyce Hardin Garrad, in a detached trailer with a big back yard. Since she began living with her grandmother, Savannah’s teachers noticed welts and bruises on her legs, and she was losing a lot of weight.

On February 10, 2012, Savannah accepted a candy bar from a friend as she rode home on the school bus. When Garrad found the chocolate wrapper she became enraged, as Savannah had a bladder condition that made her sensitive to caffiene. As punishment for eating the candy, Garrad ordered the nine-year-old girl to carry an armload of sticks and run non-stop circles around the yard.

This is gruelling exercise for a young child, and after forty-five minutes Savannah begged for a rest and a glass of water. Garrad instead shouted at her to run faster, and refused to give her a drink. Savannah’s stepmother was present the whole time, but did nothing to stop the abuse.

A neighbor of Garrad later said that Savannah was forced to run for over three hours before she collapsed. During that time Garrad screamed at her granddaughter to “keep running until you’ve learned your lesson”, and laughed when Savannah began to vomit and cry. When the little girl started to seize on the ground, Garrad pushed her inert body with her foot and demanded she get up. It was only when Savannah’s face turned blue that Garrad called an ambulance.

Savannah was rushed to hospital and put on life support, but tragically she died two days later, from dehydration and heart failure. Her emaciated body was covered in half-healed bruises, and she weighed just 63 pounds.

Joyce Hardin Garrad was charged with murder, and tried to defend her actions as “strict discipline”. The judge disagreed, and in 2015 Garrad was found guilty of capital murder. She is currently awaiting a hearing that will determine if she will recieve the death penalty.

When Derek Hale allows himself to have a little fun at a party, Stiles can’t help but stare. The alcohol, the loud music and the warm tension in the air, those probably are the reasons why they end up having sex in Derek’s bed. Probably.

That one night stand they will probably never forget.

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Who was the fucking genius that said that? Because right now, Stiles is flipping out of his mind.

Or the one where Stiles and Derek’s one-night stand turns into late night rendezvous, Friday night movies, a special surprise and maybe a happy ending… yep, definitely a happy ending. I’m not that cruel.

I've been looking into SCAD for a while now, is it a very good school? Did you like it?

Hi there! Alright alright alright, the answers are, respectively: no, it’s not, and yes, I loved it, but let me develop.

It’s really easy to get into. Which can be a good thing, and it was for me, because I didn’t have much by way of portfolio at that point, and I was way behind on the application schedule for colleges in general and SCAD is hella slack on application deadlines. But it also means there are also a lot of people who are uh, less ambitious, who don’t do their work and don’t contribute to a motivating vibe. I guess that would be my main beef with the school.

ON THE OTHER HAND, the school has some amazing faculty members, and the fact that you get to manage your own schedule means you can seek out the very best classes and professors and get a great education, a lot of bang for your buck. You just need to be proactive and have a lot of self-discipline. And of course there are some students who are incredibly hard-working and talented, and there’s a vibrant student life, so there are many ways to enrich your experience around your classes and find likeminded people.

Also Savannah is a pretty ballin city, as far as student life goes. It’s not too big, not too small. It’s not the cultural hotspot of New York but it’s way more chill and still has a nice lil artsy and cultural scene that you can get into if you want. And a lot of cute coffeeshops. A+ for biking. I LOVED my time there also because of the peeps, my buds, my squad. Perhaps I could have gotten more out of my three years in the States, educationally and artistically, if I’d gone to a more ~prestigious~ college but in Savannah I met some of my absolute best friends of the eternity of the universe, and I wouldn’t trade that in for anything in the world.

Obviously, that’s not specific to the school, you’ll make friends for life in whatever college you go to. I’m just saying, I loved it in Savannah and I’m super happy with my time there but it’s not wholly thanks to the quality of the school. Also I think I should mention it depends on what program you’d be looking at. I was in sequential over there, not animation, so my thoughts on the school mainly apply to that department.

I hope that helps, bud. Godspeedo.

Reignite The Flame

Request based off of the song Scared to Be Lonely by Martin Garrix.

His hands were always on you then. They’d caress you in heavenly ways, drawing circles on your back and feeling every inch of you with restrained passion at first. With time his hands grew firmer, they’d desperately grab at your thighs, they’d lock into the locks of your hair but his pull was never harsh.

Being apart was painful. His thoughts always found themselves back on you when he was away, and your mind always conjured daydreams of the two of you together. It was how you kept your sanity, how you kept that overwhelming feeling of longing at bay. Your greetings upon his homecomings were always passionate, always full of adoration as the two of you tangled in each other the second he stepped foot through the door.

“Spencer!” you shouted as he stormed away, his face furious.

“No! I’m not listening to this!” he yelled, his body shaking at your words. His body was rigid and his eyes dark, as if the happiness had been stripped away from him.

“Why won’t you ever listen?” you exclaimed, your voice breaking as you repressed tears. Your own body felt weak with exhaustion, your eyes that had once been filled with sparks now dull.“You know how I’ve felt about this. You know that I can’t keep waiting for you. All I do is wait for you!”

“You knew this going in!” he retorted, his frustrations showing on his face. His hands clenched into fists at his side as an unrecognizable feeling rushed through him. “This is my job!”

“So I’m never going to come first to you? God, Spencer. Do you even want to be with me?”

“I’m not doing this,” Spencer said in exasperation as your last question stung. “I’m not.”

You felt the tears in your eyes fight their way onto your cheeks as he walked away, slamming the door on his way out.

Your hands found their way to his shoulders, softly massaging into the tender skin. You hands moved expertly, working to undo the knots that had formed from the time he spent hunched over his case files. He grinned at your touch, his shoulders relaxing instantly. His own hand reached up to hold yours.

“You’ve been working for hours,” you murmured against the nape of his neck. The soft tickle of your lips against his skin was enough to send a pleasant shiver down his spine.

“I know,” he sighed as he placed his pen down. “I could use a break.”

“Well come on then,” you smiled as you pulled away, your face bright at the idea of getting some quality time with him. He took the hand you offered knowing he wouldn’t return to his work that night. Not when he had you in his arms.

“Tough night?” Morgan asked as he met Spencer at the bar. The text he had received from Spencer had been alarming, and his choice of meeting place indicated something was surely wrong. The two empty shot glasses that sat in front of him worried him even more.

“How do you do it? You and Savannah?” he asked, not bothering to meet his eye.

“It was difficult. I thought I could handle it, and for a while I did,” Morgan replied, suddenly understanding what was going on. “It was a lot of fights.”

“I feel like I’m losing my mind,” Spencer muttered as he held his head in his hands. He had tried to make things work, but how could he when he loved you and his job?

“I felt the same way,” Morgan agreed as he ordered his own drink. “But when Savannah was targeted, I had to make a choice. It was either her or the BAU.”

“You chose her,” Spencer stated. There was no resentment, no ill will in his voice. Just the fact that Morgan had chosen his family over his career, something that many others would have done as well.

“Yeah, I did. As much as I hate it, sometimes we have to make a choice, kid.”

Spencer nodded silently as Morgan took a drink, his mind offering him snippets of his life with you. It gave him the good times, and the bad. It gave him the arguments, the frustrations, the times he felt he wanted to rip his hair out, but it also gave him the image of you in the morning, the way you’d smile whenever he came home, the way you’d listen to him at ungodly times of the morning when he found himself in tears over reasons that were much too personal for anyone else to know.

“You have to think about it. Sometimes you just have to find the right person. I did, so did JJ, and she’s still part of the team. So you have to think long and hard. Are you going home to her because it’s what makes you happy, or are you just scared of coming home to an empty apartment?”

Spencer stared at Morgan, his lips pursed together at the question that held more weight than he ever expected it to.

Spencer walked into the apartment later than usual that night. He had gotten hung up at work and despite wanting to rush home to you, he just couldn’t find the time to get away. His feet ached and his stomach growled, but all he could think about was giving you a warm hug hello.

He smiled softly as he caught sight of you fast asleep on the small couch. You were still fully dressed, a blanket thrown over your shoulders as your soft snores filled the apartment. It was a sweet sight he had seen before whenever you’d stayed up in hopes of catching him when he arrived home. Most of the time your tiredness would win and he would come home to find you dead asleep, just like tonight.

He took one look in the kitchen immediately felt guilty. There on the counter was an extravagant dish, one that he knew you only prepared for special occasions. He sighed deeply as he picked up the small card you had left next to it.

Microwave for 1 minute. Happy Anniversary. Love, Y/N.

With work being as hectic as it had been with the latest case, the date had simply slipped his mind. He heated up the meal you had made, his heart aching as he realized he had made you eat alone that night.

You looked up as you heard the door open. Spencer walked in, a determined look on his face as he walked over to you and stopped a few feet away. You stood awkwardly against the wall. You had been about to head to bed, having given up on Spencer coming home anytime soon.

“I want to be with you,” he said firmly.

“I want to be with you, Y/N. I know that we don’t always work, and I know we probably both have better matches for us out there, but I don’t care. I don’t care about that because I want you.”

You looked at him, your expression contemplative as you processed his words. You had made a scene earlier about his constant working, about how he never made the effort to keep in contact when his head got so wrapped up in his work. If you were being honest to yourself, you just needed reassurance that there was still something to fight for in your relationship. Those words were all you needed to hear.

“I want you too.”

Spencer smiled, the joy that drained from your earlier argument finally returning to his heart. He closed the gap between you, his lips moving furiously against yours as his hands roamed like they did before. Your bodies pressed together in a fierce desperation, the passion between you reigniting again.

  • about ten seconds after they kiss in the field, james basically collapses with exhaustion. thomas manages to persuade the plantation owner to let him watch over james for a few days while he recovers. he alternates his time between watching james, and putting the finishing touches on the escape plan he’s been working on since being sent to savannah, but never had any incentive to actually put any effort into. he would either suffer in the plantation, or suffer somewhere else. at least at the plantation he had something to do. now, however, he has james again - and despite not knowing the exact details, the scars and bruises prove that peter lied when he claimed james and miranda would be taken care of, if thomas just agreed not to make trouble at the plantation. whatever pain james has suffered to exhaust him so completely - physically and emotionally -  is more than enough for a lifetime. thomas is determined to see to it that he suffers no more.
  • james wakes up a few times, never for very long. more than once, he clearly thinks he’s still asleep. one time he sleepily calls thomas ‘my lord’, and thomas kisses his hand and tells him it’s alright, my lieutenant, that everything is going to be alright now that they are together, because he will make it so.
  • of course, they escape. that’s not important. what is important is what comes after
  • thomas occasionally catches james staring at him, and just gives a little smile that says ‘i know, i can’t believe it either’
  • james is a LOT happier to say ‘i love you’. before he was cautious, he was sensible, and the worst happened anyway. and he spent ten years thinking that thomas had died not knowing all the things that he did, all the things that he was, that made james fall in love with him. he’s never going to make that mistake again
  • they trade stories of their various scars. james tells thomas about flint. when he starts telling him about the maria alayne, thomas freezes, and for a moment james’ heart sinks. ‘I never knew who it was that killed my father,’ he says. james can’t look at him. he’s remembering a thought he had, not long after waking up properly in thomas’ bed at the plantation. how did you get here? he’s remembering the small but persistent thought that has been tormenting him since then - what if thomas had been on that ship? what if he had missed him? if he had just been a few weeks earlier, would he have found thomas sooner? before miranda’s death? before the war? what pain could he have prevented if he had just been faster, smarter, better - but then thomas tells him how peter had him transferred from bethlem to savannah. how he had been ready to give up - how being freed from the chains and the torture of bethlem had saved his life. how that had only been possible because of alfred hamilton’s death. ‘You saved me,’ thomas says, and he kisses james. ‘even if you did not know it at the time.’
How Criminal Minds Is Going To End

Because it’s got to… At some point, right?

The team is called out into the field on a case but it turns out to be a massive ruse. A cop whose case they took over and solved years ago, has gone crazy. Them “stealing his glory” has made him lose his mind and want revenge. And he’s had years to plot his revenge. The teams gets taken hostage and ends with multiple casualties.

Flash forward five years:

Rossi has retired again and become a recluse. His books re-entered the best sellers lists again after the publicity the last case got but he shuns it all. He walks around his huge house, wandering from room to room, not really sure what he’s doing with his life anymore.

Luke has started a relationship with Elle Greenaway who made a surprise return to help take the final unsub down. Although she hadn’t been a part of the team for years, she still grieves for them. And Luke, who’d only been a part of the team for two years shares that same grief. They didn’t feel like they could confide in JJ or Garcia, they hadn’t been part of the BAU for long enough. So they confided in each other, helping each other through their grief, which eventually spawned a relationship. They moved to the coast and live in a small beachside house with Roxy, who loves running into the ocean at any opportunity.

Jack Hotchner signed up for the Academy, wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps. He wants to make his Dad proud. Of course Aaron Hotchner came out of hiding to help his team during their week long, highly news covered hostage situation, it was inevitable. It’s just a shame that Aaron didn’t get to see Jack graduate, that he won’t get to see him walk down the aisle with his childhood sweetheart. One thing Jack swears to himself daily; he won’t be let his job come between his family.

Derek and Savannah are just okay. Little Hank is growing up so quickly but he misses his uncle Spencer and his auntie Penelope. He wishes he could see his funny, colourful clothing wearing aunt but she won’t visit anymore. Derek misses his friends and often slumps into a depression that Savannah tries desperately to pull him out of. Sometimes she succeeds, other times she rides out the storm with him.

Penelope has left the states. She created a new virtual world, similar to Second Life. It’s made her a millionaire but hasn’t made her happy, not really. She spends hours a day at her computer desk with Sergio purring in her lap. In her own online world she’s created avatars for all her friends in which their all still together and all still very much alive. She only logs off when she can no longer see the screen because she’s that exhausted.

JJ and Will moved to the south. They’ve had two new babies, twins. A boy and girl. JJ sobbed as she pushed them into the world, knowing instantly what she would name them. Emily and Spencer, after the bravest people they would never get to meet. Her family are the glue that holds her together, the only way thing stopping her sinking.

The BAU is no longer how it used to be. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. SSA Seaver now runs the floor with Anderson her second in command. Portraits line her office, her old colleagues and friends.

Not longer there, but never forgotten.

Lousia laughs nervously, glancing at Drake briefly before turning her eyes back to the waves crashing on the beach. With the others gone, Drake can feel the emotional weight of this moment, of being alone together after all this time. A swell of panic rises in his throat and he’s just about to make an excuse, make his escape and run away again when Louisa speaks.

“So, Mars Bakery closed.”

“What?” Drake blinks at her, momentarily thrown.

“Yeah, it was so sad. I mean, they had the best…”

“Cronuts in New York,” Drake finishes for her. “What happened?”

“Some chain place ran them out of business. I haven’t had a cronut since.”

“Wow. That is so sad, Tennant,” Drake teases her, “I thought nothing could keep you from your Sunday morning cronut and crossword routine.”

Louisa glances at him, a unmistakably tender look in her eyes, and a sudden memory flashes into Drake’s mind of those lazy Sunday mornings in bed with Louisa. She’d lean back against his bare chest and they’d do the crossword together, sharing sugary kisses and laughing. His heart clenches. Back then, he’d thought they’d have a forever filled with Sunday mornings like that.

“Yeah, well, they were never quite the same…after Mars closed, I mean,” she rushes to clarify.

“Right, yeah.”

There’s a beat of silence before they fall into a rhythm of reminiscing about their favorite restaurants, the people they used to know.

“So what are you doing working in a bar?” Drake asks after a while. “I thought you got that job at the gallery.”

“Oh, right,” she says as if she’d forgotten, “It, um, didn’t work out.”

“Why not? You were so excited,” Drake smiles, remembering the way she’d bounced around the apartment after she got the job offer. “You were going to work with whatshisname…the big shot art collector guy.”

“You know, Big Shot Art Collector Guy is what his friends call him,” she jokes.

“Lou,” Drake prompts her gently, “What happened?”

“I dunno. I kinda lost interest in the work. I guess I lost my muse.”

There’s no accusation in her voice, but he still feels a stab of guilt at her words.

“God, I’m sorry…”

“No, its okay,” she brushes off his apology. “What about you? How’s your family?

“Oh, uh, not so great,” Drake digs his hand into the sand between them, letting the granules fall through his fingers. “My mom passed away a couple years after my dad died and Savannah…disappeared.”

“Disappeared?” Louisa asks, surprised. “What does that mean?”

“Something happened and she ran away,” Drake says shortly. He doesn’t want to talk about Savannah, not right now.

“Drake, I’m so sorry,” Louisa murmurs quietly. “I know your family means everything to you.”

He looks over at her and sees tears in her eyes. She does know. She knows him. His family, Liam, Louisa - those are the only people he’s ever really let into his life, into his heart. So when he tells her about his family, she really does understand the devastation that his world has undergone in the last few years.

She startles him when she slips her small hand into his and Drake shivers at her touch and the way their hands still fit perfectly together. She leans her head on his shoulder and after hesitating for a moment, Drake rests his cheek against the top of her head. For long moments, they don’t speak but surprisingly there’s no awkwardness. Even with their history, this feels comfortable and Drake can feel a sense of peace seeping into him. It’s always been like this with Louisa. She feels like home. She always has…and he gave this up. He walked away from her, from the best thing he’s ever had. The grief of losing her wraps around his heart and clenches painfully.

“I’m sorry, Louisa,” Drake whispers into the darkness. “I’m so sorry I left you that way.”

“You were taking care of your family,” she says simply.

“Yeah, I was, but I should done more.” He pauses for a moment, “I should have asked you come to Cordonia. I’m so sorry I didn’t.”

“I did offer to come with you,” Louisa points out. “I wanted to be there for you, Drake.”

He sighs raggedly, “I know you did, but that pain just…it clouded out everything. It was only when that fog lifted that I saw what I’d done. I’d lost you and realizing that was the worst day of my life since my father died. I wanted to do something, but I felt like I’d missed my chance.”

Silence falls between them once again and Drake waits for her to respond. Is she going to tell him he’s right, that he had screwed up everything they’d shared?

Louisa’s voice is quiet when she finally speaks, “I almost followed you. Jumped on a plane and just flew around the world to find you.”

Drake’s eyes slide closed before he asks her hoarsely, “Why didn’t you?”

“Hell, Drake, I didn’t know if you’d want that! You took off and I never heard from you again.” Drake flinches at her angry tone even though he knows he deserves it.

“I thought it might have been too fast,” Louisa continues. “We hadn’t even dated for a year! I just keep wondering if I was overestimating what we meant to each other.”

Her words sting and he laughs bitterly, “So basically the same reasons I didn’t ask you to come with me in the first place?” He shakes his head. “What a pair, huh?”

Louisa leans back to look him in the eye and searches his face for a long moment. He meets her gaze and swallows hard. Whatever she says next, if she curses him out and leaves him alone on this beach, he knows he deserves it. Instead, she surprises him.

“What if I had come to Cordonia, Drake?” Louisa asks, head cocked to the side. “What would have happened?”

Drake sighs deeply and fixes his eyes on the horizon. He’s imagined it so many times that the words come easily.

“I would have introduced you to my mom and sister. You and Savannah would have been best friends instantly. My mom would have liked you more than me.”

Louisa chuckles, “I’m sure that’s not true!”

“Well, I guess that may be a slight exaggeration, but she would have loved you.”

It’s an understatement. She would have absolutely adored her. He’d only told his mom a little about Louisa. She was so heartbroken over his father’s death that he hadn’t wanted to add his own emotional stress to her life. He wishes now he had told her more. He knows his mom would have told her to bring Louisa home. Now, he’s lost Louisa and his mother and two of the most important people in his life will never meet. It’s yet another regret that he’ll carry his whole life.

“I would have taken you to all the places I love best in Cordonia,” Drake continues, “horseback riding in the mountains, my favorite cove on the sea, the cabin my grandparents built.”

After a pregnant pause, he turns to look at her, “You would have held me on the nights I couldn’t sleep after my dad died. You wouldn’t have said anything, just been there, warm and comforting, and you would have made everything better just by being with me.”

Louisa breathes in a shuddering breath and he whispers, “If I had asked you to come with me, I wouldn’t be sitting here now wishing more than anything that I had done things differently. Losing you was the greatest regret of my life, Lou, and I’m so, so…”

His words are cut off as she leans over and kisses him. Drake freezes, the feeling of her lips against his paralyzing him. When he finally comes to his senses, he wraps his arms around her and they melt into each other. Her kiss ignites a fire in him and he moves his lips against hers hungrily.

When they separate, he gasps out, “I’m leaving tomorrow, Lou.”

“I know,” she murmurs as she runs a finger down his jawline. “Kiss me.”

“I don’t think this is a good idea,” he says feebly. She’s always been his weakness and he wants to give in, but won’t this just make it hurt more?

“Drake.” Her eyes bore into him, dark and intense. “Kiss me,” she commands.

He surges forward and kisses her hard. Pressing her back into the sand, Drake lets his hands drift down her body, ghosting along her ribs until he can grasp her hips tightly. She tangles her hands in the hair at the back of his neck and Drake moans. Their kisses become more and more intense, bodies aligning and rolling against each other. He can’t get enough of her. He wants every part of her.

Suddenly, Louisa pushes him away and Drake mentally curses himself.

“I’m sorry,” he says regretfully. “I got carried away…”

“No, Drake, that’s not it.” She stands up and dusts herself off. “I just don’t want sand in my ass,” she smirks down at him and offers him a hand. “Let’s go back to my place.”

Falling for green

Dear Maya,
I love this time of year. It’s November & the leaves are changing colors. Many leaves and old limbs have dropped and withered away but our beautiful old oak tree is still full of emerald green foliage.
The oak tree represents strength, endurance & faithfulness. True, that green is jealousy & evil for those who generate bad karma but green represents renewal & energy for those with good intent.
Did you see our gorgeous girl’s handsome man wearing green? I’m pretty sure every time he looks into her emerald eyes he finds himself falling for green too.

K: Hail to the king of twitter

R: coming from the queen I take that as a compliment

K: Whoa. I am sure as FUCK not the queen of twitter but you sire, do rule

R: if you are bestowing this title on me based on the last few days of twitter flattery, I humbly thank you milady. I still believe you hold the title of highest twitter royalty.

K: whatever dude! You know how I feel,. Screw twitter.
I am so fucking proud of you tho. I love seeing you have a good time over Good Time. ABOUT.FUCKING.TIME too

R: Thanks love. It WAS a good time. Really lovely people there in Savannah

K: hey you looked hot in green

R: you liked my sweater? it reminded me of your eyes

K: you’re a sentimental dork. Twitter calling it a “Dad sweater.” LMAO

R: Dad sweater? Then guilty as charged ….Dad? check. Sweater? check…..
Besides……you had my favorite jacket.

K: puhleeze. You have dozens of jackets.

R: but you steal my green one

K: but you have others

R: but it’s green like your eyes and it smells like you

K: pffffffffft. and I wear it cuz it smells like you

R and then I take it back and wear it cuz it smells like you again

K: like I said…………sentimental much?

R: I thought you loved that about me.

K: I do. I do. I am just SO so stoked all that shit is behind you & that you are blowing up twitter.

R: wait. what ? You hate twitter but you like it when I blow up twitter?

K: yeah OK I still hate fucking twitter like totally. BUT I love seeing you get the recognition for important things like your work. Which means you blow up twitter. UGH I fucking hated these last few years of shit where your work took a backseat & you blew up twitter for the wrong reasons

R: you were always there for me. That was the only thing that made it bearable

K: but now there’s Deauville, more Dior, all the new magazine covers. You’re free dude! Now it’s time to get the accolades you SO deserve

R: honey you’re making me blush

K: thanks for the shout out in Savannah too

R: shout out?

K: don’t be coy dude. All about me. I heard it

R: what? I don’t talk about my personal life. You know that

K: you said and I quote: “Hopefully I’ll be able to keep doing something that I love”

R: yes. And?

K: well. I know what you love doing! We did it last night. And again this morning. That was totally a shout out to me

R: I was talking about my work

K: yeah………………right………………….

R: I do believe you have developed a one track mind

K: learned from the best

R: You told me that extra hour we got last night was for “doing what I love”

K: and……………… Did you take advantage of that extra hour?

R: yes. and then some

K: so are you complaining?

R: never

K: just checking.

R:how could I have endured all of the shit in the past 3 years without you?

K: you’ll never know will you?

R: because you were always there watching out for me

K: where else would I be?

R: I like that we get to write the ending to our movie. Good Time - our own version

K: now our life is a movie? Um no.

R: the best kind. A love story

K: which is not ending dude.

R: I didn’t mean it was ending. I meant we get to write it the way we want

K: haven’t we already been doing that?

R: must you always have the last word? I thought you wanted this to be my time? My turn to direct the show remember?

K: I love when you direct . Did you see me complaining last night or this morning?

R: never

K: Then that’s a wrap.

R: I can’t argue with that. I love you

K: I can’t argue with that. I love you more

So sweet Maya,
Summer was so hot. The cooler fall temperatures feel delightful and refreshing. Little by little fall whispers that good things are on the way. It’s the season to give thanks. It’s the season of hope.
It’s going to be OK.

Summary- The gang plays one last game of “truth or truth”.

Words- 1378

“This is it,” Zack announced, leaning back in his chair, “our last night at Hartfeld.”

“Four years have gone by too quick,” I commented, looking around at the five other people in the room. My first friends at Hartfeld and the people responsible for many of the good memories I had of the previous four years.

“How should we celebrate?” Tyler asked, his arm around Abbie’s shoulder.

“With one last game of truth or truth!” Kaitlyn yelled out excitedly. She looked at all of us. “Please.”

“Don’t you know all our truths by now?” Zack grumbled with an eye-roll.

“We can get creative,” Kaitlyn said enthusiastically. “Come on guys, what better send off than to recreate our first night together?”

“I agree,” Chris said, wrapping his arm around me. “I think it could be fun. Bring back old memories.”

I shrugged. “I’m in.” The game was pretty fun. Plus we already knew so much about each other, what were a few more questions? And it was our last night together and it could be nice to recreate that first night.

I remembered how nervous I had been, but how I had felt connected to these five people right from the start. Plotting with Zack to get Abbie and Tyler together, bonding with Kaitlyn, falling for Chris…  That night had been the beginning of a fantastic four years.

“I can’t believe that four years later, we’re still playing this game,” Abbie grumbled good-naturedly.

“What can I say, it was a brilliant invention,” Kaitlyn said with fake modesty, doing a little bow. She looked around the circle, obviously trying to decide on her first victim. “Zack.”

“Hit me,” Zack said with an easy grin.

“Of the guys you hooked up with at Hartfield, who was the best kisser?”

“Nathan,” Zack said after a moment with a grin, referencing a guy he hooked up with Sophomore year. “I mean, neither of us was interested in pursuing anything serious but we had fun together and he was a really great kisser.”

Zack turned to Tyler. “What was your biggest slacker moment of the last four years?”

“Blowing off class for a D&D session because we were in the middle of an epic battle and didn’t want to wait,” Tyler admitted. “I think that session ended up lasting 10 hours all together until we were starting to fall asleep in our chairs.”

“At least you didn’t slack off an entire term,” Kaitlyn pointed, making a face. “I still can’t believe I did that or that you guys managed to help me pass.”

“That’s what friends are for,” I reminded her with a smile. “And we all had some slip-ups over the four years, but we’ve been there for each other. Friends forever.”

Tyler smiled at me. “On that note, Savannah, how did you and Becca become friends? One moment you hated each other and the next, she was joining us at Aurora and you guys were hanging out and you’ve never said a word.”

“It was Freshman year, I had a bad night. I was fighting with Zig and Kaitlyn and James and Chris and I went to the bar to drown my sorrows,” I admitted, “Becca was there and she ended up giving me a ride home and letting me crash at her place for the night and I saw a new side of her and I think after that, neither of us saw the point of being enemies and then, gradually that became friendship.”

We were still friends. She had graduated two years earlier, but we kept in touch by text and e-mail. She had never become an easy person to be around, and the others had never really warmed to her, but Logan had been right when he’d said she was a great person to have on your team. I had experience having Becca as an enemy and as an ally and I’d much rather have her on my side.

I paused, considering my victim. “Abbie, what’s your weirdest hook-up story?”

Tyler choked on his beer and Abbie turned bright red at my question.

Kaitlyn grinned. “Savannah brings her A game!”

Abbie took a huge sip of her wine before answering. “In the woods when we were camping with his parents. We snuck away for a little while and found a nice secluded spot to hook up, except it was dark, so we didn’t check our surroundings properly and we ended up in a patch of poison ivy. We were both itchy for a week in very uncomfortable places.”

We all burst into laughter trying to picture that.

“I know I shouldn’t laugh,” Zack said between bursts of laughter, “but…”

“I can’t help it,” I finished for him. “That must have been awful.”

Abbie turned to Chris. “What about you Chris, where’s the wildest place you’ve ever hooked up?”

The question was obviously meant to get back at me, but I just grinned unrepentantly. I didn’t embarrass easily. Chris was quiet for a moment, pondering four years worth of hookups and trying to pick the best one.

“It shouldn’t take this long to come up with an answer,” Zack teased, “are you saying that the two of you don’t have one wild hookup story? I refuse to believe it.”

“It’s more about narrowing it down to just one,” Chris said, his arm tight around my waist. He smiled down at me, “what do you think, Savannah? Football stadium, corn maze, or classroom?”

“Corn Maze,” I answered with a grin, remembering our long-ago road-trip. “Though foyer of a fancy L.A mansion is up there too.”

Our friends all stared at us.

“Damn,” Zack said admiringly. “You two aren’t afraid of a little danger, are you?”

I laughed. “Not particularly. The risk is part of the fun.” Though somehow we had managed to never get caught. I grinned at Chris. “It’s not my fault that he’s so irresistible.”

I’m the irresistible one?” Chris asked, kissing my neck, “you are underestimating yourself.”

Everyone groaned.

“You’d think after all this time, you’d have gotten sick of each other,” Zack said with a groan. “Or at least stopped being so cute.”

“I think they’ll be cute forever,” Kaitlyn said, shooting Chris a look I didn’t quite understand. “Chris, it’s your turn to ask a question. If you can let go of Savannah long enough.”

“I guess I can do that,” Chris said, gently moving me off his lap. He picked up my hand instead and looked directly into my eyes, my first indication that this wasn’t your typical truth or truth question. “Savannah, will you marry me?”

I stared at him for a moment, afraid that I had heard him wrong.

“The night we met, I had a feeling that my whole had just changed,” Chris continued, “I fell a little in love with you that night and I’ve kept falling deeper every night of the last four years and I never want that to end. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. If you’ll have me.”

“Yes!” I answered, throwing my arms around him. “A thousand times yes! Of course I’ll marry you.”

Our friends started cheering and started crowding around Chris and I to congratulate us.

“OMG!” Abbie exclaimed, jumping up and down before giving me a hug. “I’m so happy for you both.”

“Congrats!” Zack said, giving Chris a high five.

Kaitlyn pulled me into a hug. “I’m so happy for you. You guys are just perfect together.”

“You knew!” I accused good-naturedly, realizing that this had all been a set-up.

She laughed. “Yes. Chris enlisted my help to come up with the perfect proposal and what better than recreating the night you met?”

“It was a great night.” I agreed. The rest of the first semester hadn’t been so great between Chris and I, but things had started off well. That first night and our first kiss would always be one of my favorite memories. I was also happy he had done it like this, so our friends could be there since they’d been such a big part of our story and I hoped they always would be.

Things were changing, but I honestly believed that our friendship would last forever, just like Chris and I’s love.

Decisions, Part 5 - Epilogue

It’s finally here! I’m so glad to be able to post this. I hope you all enjoy it. I really wanted to give this fic and these characters (at least as they exist in this version of things) a happy ending. This is set 3 years after the last installment.

Thank you for all the encouragement you’ve all given as I’ve posted these stories!!

Three years later…

The royal ballroom is once again filled with nobility and sweeping orchestral music plays as couples float together on the dance floor. Once again, Drake stands by the bar sipping a whiskey. Once again Liam is the center of attention. So many things are the same, but really everything is different.

Liam steps up on the dais. He’s absolutely radiating joy and his voice is happy and excited as he addresses the crowd.

“Welcome ladies and gentleman! I am so pleased to be here today with all of you celebrating not only the 3rd anniversary of my coronation, but also the official announcement of my engagement!”

The crowd erupts in thunderous applause and Drake smiles. They’ve come so far.

It had taken six months of searching but with Liam’s help, they had finally found Savannah. In one of life’s strange, unexplainable twists, it ends up she’s been in New York the whole time and not even that far from Louisa’s own neighborhood.

Louisa stands beside Drake hand in hand outside Savannah’s door. His sister knows they’re coming. Drake has been texting her for a couple weeks, but he’s clearly still nervous, fidgeting with his shirt collar and shifting from foot to foot. Louisa squeezes his hand and gives him an encouraging smile. Drake takes a deep breath and knocks on the heavy wooden door. A moment later it swings open.

“Savannah!” Drake cries and all hesitation is gone as he pulls his sister into a tight hug. Savannah clings to him and starts crying. Louisa watches the two of them, tears welling up in her own eyes at their emotional reunion.

Chapter 6 – Playtime.

Four weeks had gone by since the quake and tsunami which the media had horrendously dubbed ‘The Wave’ and Zootopia was still trying to come to terms with what had happened. Just over eight million mammals lived in Zootopia before that horrific night, and about three and half million of those had perished in The Wave the majority of them rodents. Seeing soldiers on the streets to maintain marshal law had become an everyday occurrence and even after a month rescue workers were still finding bodies in the rubble. Most schools had been destroyed and the ones that were still standing didn’t have the adequate staff to help teach what remained of the student body. Out of the twelve hospitals that served the city only three remained safe for public use, causing overcrowding and in some cases patients being transferred cross state for treatment. In the place of wrecked homes slums and villages of tents had sprouted all around the city, the mammals who lived in these so called ‘Wave towns’ were hungry, desperate and in fear for their lives. And as for the law and order? It was a shit storm; the two prisons that were located within the city limits had been damaged in The Wave and consequently over a thousand prisoners had escaped, crime rates had gone through the roof especially murder and robbery, the worst of times brought out the worst in mammals.

Robyn used to run through the public park in Savannah central for exercise every day but now that entire patch of greenery had become a ‘Wave Town’ where there were desperate mammals and zero sanitation. Robyn was a brave mammal but she wasn’t stupid, there was no need to risk her life on a daily run, luckily she knew one place nearby that had plenty of space to run in and it would be rare to see any other mammal; Sherwood cemetery. Some mammals would be put off jogging around a graveyard others would say it was disrespectful but Robyn actually found comfort here, it wasn’t frightening instead it was peaceful and this way she could drop by a certain gravestone every day to say ‘Hi’. Robyn who was dressed in her running gear which consisted of a grey t shirt and black shorts had run ten circuits of the graveyard and was not feeling tired, in fact she wasn’t feeling fatigue lately when she exercised she put it down to not having school so she had more energy, however though after her tenth lap she made her way to the most heart wrenching part of the graveyard; the nursery. For any mammal who had gone through the nightmare of losing a young child in Sherwood this was where they were most likely laid to rest, Robyn sat in front of a gravestone she visited more times than she could remember, she leaned forward and kissed the white marble of the memorial and greeted with grin “Morning boys.” Robyn then sat back and relaxed in front of the grave of her three still born litter mates Ryan, Ronan and Reginald Wilde, technically born and died on the same day with only their sister Robyn surviving them. “I think I’m getting faster, y’know? This run is getting too easy, what do you guys think, should I add a few miles?” She asked, knowing she would get no answer, as always.

From as early as she could remember Robyn knew she was one of four kits but only she had made it, at first she had felt sad at this fact, that she had missed out on having three brothers and also a heavy weight of guilt that she had been the only kit in the litter that was born alive, but her Grandma Bonnie had given her some sage words that gave her comfort ‘They are your guardian angels’, now one could easily dismiss as an adult trying to comfort a child with whimsy but Bonnie Hopps was speaking from experience. Bonnie, like most bunnies, was one of many of a multitude of siblings but with every litter that her mother gave birth to some would sadly not make it, it was just the way it was. As Robyn got older during a trip to Bunnyburrow Bonnie revealed that she had lost seventeen kits, this fact was heart breaking but just the way things were for Rabbits, even if Robyn was a child of two species she understood this part of her lapin legacy. All Robyn could do was live for her brothers and never let them be forgotten. That didn’t stop her imagining her brothers would be like if they were alive; Robyn pictured Ryan as the creative one maybe he liked to draw or play an instrument, Ronan as a sporty kid like her and Reggie as a mini version of their dad.

“So guess what? Mom and Dad finally have a day off,” Robyn spoke to the gravestone “I know right, it’s been like four weeks without them having a single break, they look so tired lately, apparently Mom’s going to invite Luna around later for veggie stew so we can have a family dinner.”

Robyn looked across the damaged landscape of Sherwood and beyond that the main hub of Savannah central, her navy eyes focused on the newish looking hospital where she had fought for her life not so long ago, she let out a sigh and spoke “Hannah’s seeing the doctor this morning about her eyes, all the other surgery didn’t work and this is the last ditch test to see if anything can be done for her sight…I don’t get it, her parents are terrified for her and so am I but she just keeps smiling, she’s so upbeat…I Just don’t get her…maybe that’s why I love her.” Robyn found herself having butterflies in her tummy as she pictured Hannah, even if these four weeks had been tough the new couple still spent lots of time together although Jack and Skye were doing the whole helicopter parenting thing since her injury and that was pissing Hannah off especially when they walked in on her and Robyn kissing.

“Whatever the outcome of her meeting with the doctor we’re still going to enjoy some junk food, we’re going to head to bugga burger with Kodi and Kion and just hang out, like old times…plus Kion needs cheering up, he’s been so down since his sister’s gone missing.” Robyn confided to her brothers, it always made her feel better to speak about her problems here, where no one alive was listening but she knew somewhere her brothers were.

Buzzzzzzz! Robyn’s peaceful moment was broken by the rude interruption of a wasp buzzing in front of her face, she absolutely hated wasps ever since she was little. She jumped back in alarm and let out “Ah! Get out of my face!” but the wasp continued to get closer so Robyn turned on her heel and started running away from the insect, but it was pursuing her now, Robyn glanced back and she whined “Oh come on.”, she looked back to where she was running and she was about to run into a bench, she panicked and tried to jump over it, the hybrid leapt into the air and cleared the bench easily…the only problem was that she was still getting higher in the air, she had easily jumped twenty feet with little effort “What’s the?” Robyn gawped as she began to descend…and collide with a tree. “Crap!” Robyn squeaked as she braced for impact, she hit the trunk of the oak with a whack and hit the grass soon after. Robyn could already feel her right arm stinging, she sat up and noticed her forearm was bleeding with a jagged gash “Ugh, great.” Robyn commented, then something unexpected happened, the wound closed up before her very eyes “The hell!?” She gasped Did I just imagine that? There was a cut on my arm and now…wait I jumped super high too, what was that about!? Robyn’s mind raced Hang on, I got stabbed in the gut during the quake and that healed quick too; that medicine Luna gave me? It has to be it.

Robyn looked at where her arm had been cut mere seconds before and smiled to herself “Awesome.” The teen then did a quick check of her surroundings to make sure no one else was around before positioning herself in a crouched position so she could launch herself into the sky as high as she could. “Ok, 3,2,1,” Robyn sprung into the air with a huge grin on her face, this time she must’ve made it thirty feet before landing on the ground with ease before jumping again “Woo-hoooo!” she celebrated, she felt almost euphoric as she bounded through the air.  She landed with a roll and laughed to herself before realising something important “Hannah had the same medicine as me? Does that mean she’s like me?” Robyn asked out loud to no one, the prospect of having these new abilities was exciting but she was left confused to the fact that if her body could heal within seconds then why hadn’t Hannah’s eyes repaired themselves?

It was 4 AM when Aleks Rojek stirred from his sleep with Luna still sleeping soundly next to him, the couple were in a spacious king sized bed, the bed was meant for mammals much bigger than them but in the expanisive and luxury penthouse that Luna inherited it was well placed. As he lay in bed, he thought about latest events that had taken place in Zootopia, and enjoying the closeness and scent of the only mammal he could consider as a family in this new, odd and dangerous world. The vibrating sound of his phone disturbed the overwhelming peace, Aleks sighed deeply before reaching for it. What he saw, made his eyes water with tears of joy; it was a muzzletime call from his parents, he hadn’t had any contact with them since the first few hours after the wave, he had been working so much overtime he always missed their subseqent calls. The grey fox answered the call and a screen displayed the faces of his beloved parents, it was clear to see that they showed a mix of worry and relief.

“O Boże, Synu, jak dobrze Cię widzieć.” A Silver furred vixen on the screen said with relief.

*”OH God, we are so happy to see you, son.”

“Cześć Mamo, cześć Tato.” Aleks grinned sounding a bit sleepy.

*”Hi Mum, hi Dad.”

“Nie obudziliśmy cię? Przeszkadzamy bardzo?” A Red Fox, his father, asked with playful tone, but his eyes were full of worry.

*”Didn’t we wake you up? We are not disturbing anything aren’t we?”

Aleks yawned “Nie, I tak niedawno się obudziłem.”

*”Nah, I woke up awhile ago.”

“Próbowaliśmy się do ciebie dodzwonić odkąd usłyszeliśmy o trzęsieniu ziemi, bardzo się martwiliśmy, że…” Mrs Rojek’s voice was breaking  down.

*”We’ve tried to reach you since we heard about the earthquake, we’ve worried so much that you may…”

“Byłem wtedy w bezpiecznym miejscu, z dala od zasięgu tsunami.” Aleks assured, remembering that he had been in the penthouse when the tremors began

*”By that time I was in safe place, far enough from tsunami’s range”

Even thoug Aleks had lived in USA for two years now, his Polish was still free of foreign accent. Luna woke up, hearing her lover’s kind voice, for a moment she didn’t notice that he was talking in his native language, but when she realized that, she looked over her mate’s shoulder with pure curiosity.

“Hi.” Luna smiled innocently, unaware of who she’s talking to.

“Oh Dzieńdobry.” Silver Vixen half laughed, seeing a young lady hugging to her son.

Aleks turned his head to kiss his love on the cheek, and said in a proud voice“ Luna Kochanie, this is Elizabeth and Peter, my parents. Mamo, Tato, To jest Luna, moja Dziewczyna.”

*”Mum, Dad, This is Luna, my Girlfriend.”

“Nice to meet you.” Aleks’ mum greeted in English, she was proud that her son finally found someone.

“Haha, So that’s mean that we soon will have grandchildren?” Peter laughed, his English was clear enough to understand.

“Tato!” Aleks yelled with embarrassment.

“Who knows.” Luna chuckled, joining in teasing Aleks.

Aleks sighed covering his eyes with his free hand from embarrassment.

Luna, Elizabeth and Peter laughed at once. Within few seconds Aleks joined them.

When they all stopped laughing, Aleks’ dad spoke “ Jesteśmy tak szczęśliwi, że jesteś cały, i że znalazłeś sobie piękną lisiczkę.”

*”We are so glad that you are alright, and that you found yourself a beautiful vixen.”

Aleks smiled. „Tęskniłem za wami.”

*”I missed you.”

„Co byście powiedzieli na małe odwiedziny?” His mum asked him grinning.

*”What would you say for a short visit here?”

„Bardzo bym chciał, ale teraz mam masę obowiązków,” “i ten cały projekt nadal trochę potrwa, więc raczej przez najbliższe dwa lata raczej nie dam rady.” Aleks sighted sadly.

*”I’d really loved to visit you… but I have a lot of stuff to do here.” Aleks continued with sadness in his voice “and this project is still going to take more time, so I probably won’t be able to visit you for next two years.”

„To może my was odwiedzimy, co ty na to?” Elizabeth proposed smiling.

*”So maybe we visit you? What do you think?”

Luna listened intently to their conversation having absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

„Spróbujemy przylecieć najwcześniejszym samolotem.” Peter promised

*”We’ll try to take the earliest plane.”

„We’ll be waiting.” Aleks responded with excitement in his voice

“Nie będziemy już wam przeszkadzać,”Aleks’ mum ended kindly. “Pa pa.”

*”We won’t be disturbing You two,”**”Bye bye”

„Bye.” Luna and Aleks said at once, before hanging up.

Aleks put his phone on night table next to the bed. „So what time do we have?” He asked rhetorical looking at his watch and groaning slightly as he saw 4.23 am

„Way too early to get up from bed when you have day off.” Luna yawned, laying back.

„Yeah,” Aleks admitted „But it’s definitely too late to fall asleep again.” Silver fox sighed looking at his red furred beauty.

Luna smiled devilishly “Who said that we have to sleep?” She asked with bewitching tone in her voice.

Aleks give her gaze full of love, before leaning next to her and whispering  “Then how about enjoying each other?”

She put her right paw on his neck and kissed him in response. He wrapped his tail around her and became lost in romance.

It was just after nine when Luna and Aleks had managed to get out of bed due to the clinginess both of them felt after such a passionate early morning. Luna had decided on making breakfast for the pair of them “Aleks do you want one egg or two?” Luna asked loudly, she was dressed in a set of silk pink pyjamas.

“Two, I’ve worked up an appetite.” Aleks joked in response, his voice travelling from the bathroom.

Luna was about to throw a joke back but stopped when she heard the familiar ping of the elevator, Luna quickly stepped into the main living space of the penthouse to see the elevator door opening with the happy faces of her parents to greet her God damn it, I forgot they had a spare key Luna’s brain panicked before she awkwardly opened with “Mom, Dad, w-what are you doing here?”

Judy who was holding a cup holder with three rich smelling coffees replied “We haven’t seen you in weeks, so we thought we’d come surprise you with breakfast.”

“How did you know I had the day off?” Luna asked, trying to think of a way to get rid of her folks before they discovered Aleks.

“Well this little stalker,” Nick motioned to his wife with a grin “saw a post on your furbook page last night about being off today.” Placing a bag of Danish pastries on the coffee table.

“Don’t call me that.” Judy groused, swatting Nick on the arm.

“Um, guys, I’m actually kinda’ sick,” Luna lied “I caught this nasty tummy bug from a patient so I think, uh, you should go, I don’t want to pass it on to you two.”

“Oh sweetie we’re sorry,” Judy replied “we’ll get out of your fur.”

Nick however was not convinced, he could spot a lie anywhere so he asked with an arched eyebrow “What’s going on?”

“Nothing.” Luna denied in a voice that was way too high.

But before Nick could call Luna on her bad lying a voice called from the hallway “Luna have you seen my towel?” Aleks then appeared in the living room dressed only in his boxers and a toothbrush in his mouth, he became still as a statue the instant he saw Nick and Judy standing before him, the toothbrush that had been in his jaws fell to the floor.

Luna tensed up and whispered “Shit.” Waiting for the inevitable shouting match to begin.

Judy was stood with jaw slack, her vision darting between Aleks and Luna, this felt so uncomfortable she now knew what it must’ve felt like for Marian when she walked in on her holding her shredded knickers all those years ago. She then looked to Nick and mumbled “Oh no.”

Nick had his fangs bared, he eyes were narrowed and looked like he was about to lunge at Aleks at any given second “Rojek…” He growled.

Aleks who was intimidated beyond belief saluted his superiors by reflex “Good morning captain, chief.”

“You.” Nick hissed before bolting towards Aleks, luckily for the silver fox he was over twenty five years younger and a lot faster than Nick. Aleks bounded over the sofa with Nick scrambling over in chase “Stay still so I can rip your god damn head off!”

“Sir please calm down!” Aleks implored as he ran to the dining table.

“I’ll calm down once I beat the hell out of you!” Nick responded with spite chasing the rookie around the table.

“Nick, quit it!” Judy yelled, watching Aleks make a break for the kitchen with Nick in pursuit.

As soon as Aleks reached the kitchen Luna put herself in the way of the door so her enraged father couldn’t enter “Dad.” Luna simmered, ready to boil over with anger.

“Kiddo, I need to teach that bastard a lesson.” Nick said through gritted teeth, his eyes locked on the petrified Rojek in the kitchen.

“Bastard?” Luna repeated with distain before poking Nick in the chest and replying “How dare you!”

“Now Baby Girl…” Nick tried to manoeuvre both the conversation and a way around his daughter…but failed.

“Don’t you ‘Baby Girl’ me,” Luna cut down, her anger clear in her voice “I am so sick of this ridiculous protective Dad crap! Every boy I’ve ever brought home has never been good enough for you, have they?”

“Of course they weren’t!” Nick defended.

“Why? You don’t even get a chance to know them, you judge them as soon as you see him, you scare them away…but you didn’t scare him.” Luna spoke, pointing at her boyfriend.

Judy walked over to Nick and grabbed his paw then said “Let’s hear her out….but let Rojek get some pants on first.”

“…Ok.” Nick begrudgingly accepted, he stepped aside and let both Luna and Aleks pass by, with the couple quickly heading to the master bedroom to get changed.

Two minutes later Luna and Aleks returned to the spacious living room to find Judy and Nick on one sofa, with the red fox staring daggers into the young polish cop. Judy who was drinking the cappuccino she had brought from the coffee shop opened the conversation before the pair sat on the opposite sofa “So how long have you two being seeing each other?”

Aleks, who was sometimes too honest for his own good, answered “Four months.”

“Are you serious!?” Nick snapped.

“Dad!” Luna warned.

“Nick, please.” Judy added.

“Fine! So how did this whole thing start?” Nick questioned.

“It was at the gym,” Luna answered truthfully “Aleks was new and couldn’t get one of the machines working so I helped him out, we started to chat and the rest is history.”

“By the time I found out Luna was the daughter of you two it was too late, I had fallen for her.” Aleks revealed.

Nick’s flames of anger burned brighter while Judy’s heart swelled at these words “So the day of the wave when you told me you had found someone special, you were talking about Rojek?” Judy asked, happy that her eldest kit had found a nice guy.

“Yes.” Luna confirmed before looking at Nick and saying “You can stop staring at Aleks with evil eyes.”

“Not happening.” Nick defied, continuing to stare with ill intent.

“Dad!” Luna forced “Ugh, you do this every time!…Except when Hannah started dating Robbie, why are you ok with Hannah and not him?”

“I’ve known Hannah since was born, she’d never hurt Robyn, she’s the perfect girlfriend for her.” Nick stated, standing by his statement.

“And you know Aleks.” Luna parried “You have been working with him for months.”

“That’s different,” Nick back peddled “he’s my officer, sure he’s a good cop but as a mammal I don’t know squat about him.”

“Nick,” Judy interjected with a sigh “I know you like Aleks as a mammal, you told me so.”

“Carrots.” Nick reacted, hoping in vain that she would back him up.

“The day after the wave you told me what happened in Sherwood, that Rojek was willing to sacrifice his job to save those in need, you told me you were proud of him.” Judy stated, looking at Aleks who looked rather sheepish.

Nick didn’t deny this claim but he wanted to move away from it all the same so he asked Luna “Why didn’t you tell us about you two?”

“I was going to but then the wave happened, and ever since it’s been crazy.” Luna explained “Plus you act all weird whenever I mention I’m in a relationship.”

“I still don’t like this.” Nick said sourly.

“Well tough shit,” Luna replied with a fire in her voice “I’m an adult and I can be a relationship with whomever I want.”

“Captain, Chief, may I say something?” Aleks spoke up, still maintaining police etiquette.

“When we’re like this Aleks we’re not your superiors; we’re Judy and Nick.” Judy eased the young fox’s worries, and when she saw Nick about to protest this she promptly punched him in the arm to stop him interrupting.

“If you have any fears that I would dishonour or hurt Luna please know I would never dream of such a thing,” Aleks began, feeling brave and entwining his paw with Luna’s “for one reason we all know Luna is not a pushover, she’s a strong vixen who doesn’t take disrespect from anyone and the second reason is; she is my Ukochana.”

“Uko-what?” Nick queried the foreign word.

“Ukochana, it means beloved. I love your daughter, I have never been happier than when I’m by her side, every day I try to be a fox worthy of her love and my body and soul belong to her…If you wish to fire me then go ahead but know I will stay with Luna no matter what.” Aleks declared, bracing himself for a verbal barrage.

But the venomous words never came, instead Nick remained stoic and silent while Judy welled up with tears before cracking “Oh, that is beautiful.” She gave a weepy smile.

Nick closed his eyes and breathed out, it was as if he had been verbally defeated before offering “Judy’s cooking her Bunny Burrow veggie stew tonight…why don’t you two join us?”

Luna who was still ticked off at her dad responded with “We’ll come, but if you begin acting like an asshole we’re gone, we clear?”

“Crystal.” Nick conceded, begrudgingly.

Judy who had kept her excitement at bay so far could no longer contain her glee at Luna being in love, she got up from the sofa and wrapped Aleks in a tight hug and grinned “Welcome to our crazy family! I’ll dig up all the old photos of Luna when she was a kit so you can have a look.”

“Mom.” Luna gave a warning tone but on the inside she was happy; at least one of her parents approved of Aleks.

A few minutes later Nick and Judy left the penthouse leaving the emotionally exhausted couple alone, after a long hug Aleks headed to the bathroom for a shower while Luna went back to the kitchen to continue making breakfast, it’s then Luna noticed her phone on the kitchen counter flashing with a new message, she grabbed it and opened the text from Olivia which just had to words ‘Bunker. ASAP.’

Robyn was waiting outside the hospital main entrance dressed in her casual clothes waiting for Kodi and Kion to arrive, the plan was for them to meet Hannah at the hospital and then hang out to either celebrate getting her sight back or consoling her on being blind forever, whatever happened they wanted to be there for Hannah. But all Robyn could think about at the moment was what happened at the graveyard earlier that morning and if Hannah was experiencing anything similar. It doesn’t make sense, I’m healing like magic and Hannah’s still blind, how the hell am I supposed to bring up this subject? Be like ‘Hey I’ve got super powers, have you?’ ugh this is crazy. Robyn thought as she looked at the mammals going in and out of the hospital, on the look out for the Savage family. And even if Hannah’s got these weird abilities, then what? Do we tell our parents? Our friends? Maybe I should talk to Luna about this.

“Hey Robyn.” A voice called out, Robyn looked behind her to see Kodi and Kion walking towards her.

“Sup’.” Robyn replied, her mind still on the whole ‘super powers’ subject.

“Any sign of her yet?” Kodi asked in a caring voice, despite acting like player the teen wolf did have a loving nature to him, he really did love his friends…and worry for them.

“Nothing yet, her appointment should’ve finished ten minutes ago.” Robyn fretted before looking up at Kion, the usual chipper lion looked crestfallen, his broad shoulders slumped and his big brown eyes were clearly showing his depression “I know it’s a dumb question but how are you holding up Kion?”

“Don’t mind me squirt,” Kion played down “we’re here for Hannah, she’s going through a lot more than I am right now.”

“Don’t say that big guy,” Kodi sympathised “we’re here for you too.”

“Thanks but honestly I don’t want to talk about Kiara at the moment, it’s bad enough at home.” Kion confided “Mom’s convinced she’s dead and Dad’s been a basket case since the wave, he spends hours just sitting in her old room…it’s like they’ve given up on her.”

“As long as you believe there’s still hope.” Kodi comforted.

“Thanks guys.” Kodi gave a sad smile, he then caught sight of three familiar figures approaching, it was the Savages “Hey it’s them.”

Robyn spun around and what she saw answered the question on whether or not anything could be done for Hannah’s eyesight; it was a definite no. Skye and Jack’s faces and body language just displayed defeat and grief, the husband and wife holding onto each other’s paws for strength. Hannah who was on the other side of her mother with her arm linked was holding her cane in her spare paw and had her usual content look on her muzzle. Hannah sniffed the air and greeted “Is that you guys?”

“It’s us babe.” Robyn confirmed.

“I’d say it’s nice to see you guys but well…” Hannah joked, much to the pain of her parents who exchanged an awkward look.

“Same old stripes.” Kodi grinned.

“Well one advantage to be being blind is that I’m never going to endure your horrible fashion sense Kodi.” Hannah played, unlinking from Skye’s arm and stepping closer to her friends.

“Ouch.” Kodi feigned being hurt.

“It’s good to see you haven’t lost your sense of humour.” Kion said, still worried for the hybrid.

“Well if I lost that then I’d really be screwed.” Hannah replied with a light chuckle.

“So…” Robyn had to say this “What did the doctor say?”

“All the shrapnel from the gas canisters was removed in the last few surgical ops,” Skye explained, sounding down “but the shrapnel was not the reason for Hannah going blind.”

“So what was it?” Kion followed up.

“The explosion.” Hannah answered, before adding a quiet “Ka-boom.”

“Huh?” Robyn sounded, her face scrunching up in confusion.

“The intense light and searing heat from the exploding gas canister oversaturated her retinas causing her…” Jack tried to explain but choked on his tears.

“Dad.” Hannah spoke softly, holding out her hand so he could take hold of it, which he did “It’s going to be ok, we all know it could’ve been worse. I still got all my other senses, I got the best parents any mammal could have and I’ve always my friends. Being blind is not going to stop me doing anything.”

Jack wiped away some tears and sniffed “I wish I was brave like you, little one.” Even though this was a tender moment Robyn couldn’t help but laugh internally every time Jack called Hannah by her pet name, seeing as she was much taller than her bunny father.

“Anyway me and the guys are going to hang out for a bit, I’ll be back around six.” Hannah said, letting go of her Dad’s hand.

“You’re going out after what you just learned?” Skye asked, aghast.

“Well yeah, what do want me to do? Sit around feeling sorry for myself.” Hannah parried, her aqua blue eyes still but had mischief in them.

“Well no but Zootopia’s more dangerous than ever since the quake, it’s not safe especially for a blind girl.” Jack pointed out.

Hannah let out a sigh and stepped back over to her friends before saying “Look I’ve got a Lion and wolf with me, who’s going to mess with us? Plus I’ve got Robyn with me, she’d never anything happen to me. And if push comes to shove I can fight off an attacker with my cane.” Hannah proceed to hold her cane like a sword and swiped at the air.

“Ok,” Skye accepted “be safe.”

Fifteen minutes later the four teens were stood outside the Bugga Burger in Sherwood, only to find a bunch of cops and yellow tape surrounding the fast food place. “What the?” Robyn mumbled, the windows had bullet holes in them, staff members were being interviewed by police and paramedics were loading a shot moose into the back of an ambulance.

“What’s going on? I hear a lot of noises…and I can smell blood.” Hannah asked, honing her sense of smell.

“Looks like someone shot up the Bugga Burger.” Kodi answered “Who holds up a burger joint?”

“Someone desperate.” Kion theorized “A lot of stuff like this has been happening lately.”

“Yeah, my parents have been working like crazy, I heard Mom say crime rates had tripled since the wave.” Robyn added.

“So no burgers.” Hannah huffed, tapping her cane on the pavement with annoyance.

“We could just get a load of junk food from the convenience store and veg out somewhere.” Kodi suggested.

“Meh, why not?” Hannah agreed, really craving something unhealthy.

The convenience store wasn’t that far away, the group loaded up on chips, sodas and candy bars before sitting on the curb outside the store, stuffing their faces. “So good.” Hannah cooed, munching on some extra spicy tortilla chips.

“I’ve missed candy so much,” Kodi spoke with his mouth full of milk duds “the 7/11 near my house collapsed in the quake.”

“I miss going to school,” Kion spoke up “they say it’s going to be another three weeks before St. Zoo High reopens.”

“At least you get to go back there, I’ve got go to a school for the blind.”  Hannah replied “I’ve got to learn brail before I can even think about continuing my education.”

“You can do it, you always did have good grades.” Robyn encouraged, kissing Hannah on the cheek.

“Well at least I’ll be able to brag that I’ve got the most amazing girlfriend to my new classmates.” Hannah grinned, her tail wagging with happiness.

“Excuse me.” A polite voice brought the four out of their conversation. They looked to their left to see a cougar in his mid twenties with a stack of flyers “Can I give you one of these.” Holding out the flyer.

Kion took the piece of paper and glanced briefly at the info on it ‘DO YOUR PART FOR ZOOTOPIA, VOLOUNTEER AT THE SHERWOOD DISASTER RELIEF CENTRE, ALL MAMMALS WELCOME’ “Relief centre? What’s this all about?” Kion asked the cougar.

“The Sherwood community centre is housing some mammals left homeless from the wave, we’re looking for mammals to help us rebuild houses, make care packages, organise clothing donations, basically anything we can do to help.” The cougar explained.

“Aw that’s nice.” Hannah commented.

“So what is the red cross or government running it?” Robyn queried before taking a sip of her cherry cola.

“Nope, we’re just normal Zootopians trying to help, like Nick Wilde did.” The cougar answered.

Robyn spit out her cola at the mention of her father “D-did you say Nick Wilde?” She spluttered.

“Yeah, you’ve got have seen that youtube video of that cop who stopped the looting in Sherwood by using his words.” The Cougar was wondering why the teen look bewildered.

“Yeah, The heart of Sherwood video, I heard it’s got like ten million views.” Kion confirmed.

“My dad’s on youtube!?” Robyn asked, hardly believing what she was hearing.

“How did you not know about this?” Kodi laughed.

“Wait, you’re Nick Wilde’s daughter? Aren’t you a Hare?” The Cougar pondered out loud.

“Nope I’m a hybrid, I’m half bunny.”  Robyn cleared up.

“Same here, except my Mom’s a fox and my Dad’s a bunny.” Hannah threw in.

“Well whatever you guys are, we could really use the help.” The Cougar added.

“Sure we can drop in, we’re not doing anything.” Kion smiled, knowing his friends were of the same mind.

“Great look for a deer named Alana, she’s in charge.” The Cougar gave a satisfied smile.

After finishing their snacks the three friends made their way to community centre a few blocks away, Robyn was not surprised to see a wave town had formed around the building with dozens of tents dotted around the grounds and mammals trying to live normally in the squalor. Robyn felt a sense of guilt as she walked down the street, sure she had nearly died in the wave but she still had a roof over her head and parents to take care of her. These mammals had lost everything and relying on hand outs from the government and the charity of strangers, she noticed some kids playing a game of baseball in the middle of the road with a rough diamond drew in coloured chalk, which was relatively safe seeing as the street was closed to traffic, the kids ranged from six to ten years of age and all of them were wearing smiles despite what had happened, Robyn wished sometimes that she could be that naive and blissful again but she knew it was foolish. One of the kids, a bear cub, threw a curveball and the young zebra batter struck it perfectly and it went zipping through the air out of the chalk marked diamond and right at Hannah, before Robyn could react though Hannah’s paw shot up and caught the ball just before it hit her in the face. “WHOA!” The kids chorused “Did you see that!?”

Kodi was speechless for once and his jaw was slack, as he looked at the blind girl with a bamboozled look on his face.

“Damn…” Was the only thing Kion could say as he tried to process what he just saw.

Hannah looked the most surprised by this, “What…how did I do that?” she breathed, gripping the baseball tighter.

“Did you see that coming?” Robyn questioned, her mind already jumping to another answer; the medicine.

“No…I felt it.” Hannah tried to describe “That was weird.”

“Hey can we have our ball back?” The Bear cub asked.

“Oh, sorry.” Hannah snapped out of her daze before throwing it back, aimed perfectly at the cub who caught it with ease which caused another ripple of whispers and gasps among the kids.

“How did you know where to throw?” Robyn asked, her navy eyes going wide with astonishment.

“I don’t know.” Hannah answered, sounding a little scared “Come on, let’s go inside.” She quickly changed the subject, leading her way with her cane tapping in front of her, the other three sharing a look of confusion before catching up with Hannah.

The group of friends walked into the main building of the community centre and were met with a scene akin to a military operation, except every single one of these mammals were civilians. There were a team of mammals in one corner trying to fix broken electronics, another team sorting out cans of food and bottles of water, one squad were going over schematics for new homes and the final team were sifting through clothing and blanket donations. “I don’t care if city hall wants the wave town moved, it isn’t happening!” A young but commanding voice yelled from the middle of the room, the voice belonged to a white tailed deer in her early twenties staring up at an unimpressed bull elephant in a designer suit.

“Listen the governor has stated that only specific parts of the city can have waves towns and Sherwood isn’t one of them.” The elephant blustered.

“Those other wave towns are already overcrowded and smell of piss and shit, at least here mammals can eat and sleep in relative safety.” The doe replied with a fire in her voice, she was speaking so loud that most mammals in the room had stopped what they were doing to watch the exchange.

“I have a written order from the governor, do you wish to defy the government?” The elephant threatened.

“Do you wish to drag innocent mammals from their home and stick them in a hell hole?” The doe slung back, she was dressed in a casual shirt and jeans.

“Ok, suit yourself, but please note if the wave town outside this community centre is not vacated in the next 24 hours the governor will order the national guard to move everyone by force.” The elephant smirked down at the doe who was tiny in comparison.

“Oh no, the national guard whatever shall we do!” The deer hammed up “What can a bunch of ordinary folk do against soldiers and their guns?” the doe then began to chuckle.

“What’s so funny?” The elephant asked, clearly irritated.

“You know every mammal had a weapon in here that could defeat your boss and his troops in a matter of seconds,” The deer sniggered before producing a phone out of her pocket “one of these.”

“A smartphone?” The elephant scoffed.

“Exactly, you see the moment you send the national guard here we’ll start streaming on the internet as you force mammals at gunpoint to move, I’m sure ZNN would love to see that.” The doe grinned devilishly.

The elephant’s expression drooped but he still managed to say “You’re bluffing.”

“I can picture the headline now ‘Cruel California Governor terrorises own citizens’, it’s bit of bad press to have especially during an election year.” The doe piled on. The elephant was now at a loss for words, he let out a grunt of displeasure and made his way out of the building with the deer waving a hoof and singing “Buh-bye.”

“Ok that was just awesome.” Hannah said out loud, who had listened to conversation intently.

The deer turned to see Robyn, Hannah, Kodi and Kion and promptly asked “And you are?”

“Is this the Relief centre?” Kodi asked, rather stupidly.

“No it’s the Sherwood luxury spa, we offer massages, there’s a sauna in the back and a Olympic sized swimming pool out front.” The Deer replied with sarcasm.

Kodi who felt dumb as hell at this point joked “I could always use a massage.”

“I’ll make it simple do you need help or do you want to help?” The doe asked bluntly, crossing her arms.

“We want to help.” Kion answered.

“Good, we always need new volunteers.” The doe smiled “My name’s Alana, Alana Clearwater and you kids are?”

“Kion Priderock.” The lion answered.

“Kodi Jones.” The embarrassed magician answered.

“I’m Hannah Savage.” The striped hybrid introduced herself.

Before Robyn could introduce herself Alana asked “Um, are you blind?”

“Nah I just carry this cane around for kicks.” Hannah kidded.

“You want help, even though, y’know…” Alana tried to find the right words, her hoof nervously tracing speckles on her cheeks.

“I lost my sight in the wave but I know mammals lost a lot more, if I can help in anyway please let me.” Hannah informed with conviction.

“I like your style kid.” Alana gave an impressed look and a nod before turning to Robyn “How about you red? What do I call you?”

“Robyn Wilde.” Robyn answered.

“Wilde…you related to Captain Wilde?” Alana questioned.

“He’s my dad.” Robyn clarified.

“Oh yeah, I heard he was married to a bunny.” Alana grinned “Well let me say your Dad inspired most of the mammals in this room, including myself, he’s a great mammal.”

“Uh…thanks, I guess.” Robyn replied, unsure of how to take the compliment.

“So let’s get you some job assignments.” Alana continued, she looked at Kion and asked “You got any back problems Kion?”

“No, why?” Kion asked back.

“I need a mammal to help with the construction crew, you up to the task?” Alana asked, pointing to the crew in the corner.

“You got it.” Kion complied, strolling over to introduce himself to the rest of the team.

“Ok where’s that wolf kid?” Alana asked, wondering where Kodi had gotten off to.

Robyn rolled her eyes and pointed with a sigh “There he is.” Kodi was chatting to a very pretty she wolf trying to fix a TV.

“Let me guess, he’s flirting?” Hannah chortled.

“Ten points.” Alana griped before marching over to the lover boy.

“Wow, so you do a lot of charity work?” The she wolf asked.

“Oh yeah,” Kodi lied “it’s so important to help other mammals in need.”

“You’re so sweet.” The she wolf cooed.

“So you like to help out mammals huh?” Alana cut in.

Kodi who had not banked on the interruption panicked and answered “Yeah, of course.”

“That’s so good to hear, because you’re job in cleaning the shower and toilet block out back.” Alana smirked “These poor mammals need a clean environment.”

Kodi’s smile faded and huffed “Fine.” Knowing it was pointless to protest.

“What about us?” Hannah asked Alana, eager to help.

“Well we need some crates of bottled water taken out of the storage shed, can you two handle that?” Alana proposed, taking a key from her pocket and passing it to Robyn.

“Sure thing.” Robyn agreed, taking the key.

Kodi, Hannah and Robyn made their way to the back yard of the community centre with Kodi grumbling “Damn cleaning duty, this sucks.”

“Serves you right.” Hannah laughed.

“Hey I was just chatting to her.” Kodi defended.

“No you weren’t,” Robyn cut down “you were trying to get into her panties.”

“Tch, anyway….” Kodi changed the subject “what was with that baseball Stripes?”

Robyn and Kodi watched the trepidation return to Hannah’s face as she answered “You’re going to think I’m crazy.”

“Babe?” Robyn spoke, putting a reassuring paw on her girlfriend’s shoulder.

“Hey it’s us remember, you can tell us anything and we’ll keep our traps shut.” Kodi vowed.

“Ok,” Hannah said cautiously “I could feel it flying towards me, like static or something.”

“Static?” Kodi repeated.

“It’s been happening all week, I can feel stuff, like I know where objects are in a room because I can feel them around me likes little buzzes of electricity.” Hannah struggled to convey “And it’s not just that, all my other senses have kicked into overdrive. I could hear you guys talking outside the hospital before while I was in the elevator.”

“That’s….” Robyn was about to say impossible but after this morning in graveyard the word possible had changed for her somewhat.

The loud sound of a chain snapping halted the conversation, two stallions opening up the storage shed with bolt cutters and a pick up truck parked outside. “Are they doing what I think their doing?” Hannah asked, hearing the two horses whisper ‘Hurry up’ and ‘Be on the lookout’ from far away.

“They’re stealing the supplies.” Robyn growled.

“Let’s call 911.” Kodi suggested.

“They won’t get here in time.” Robyn replied before trudging over and shouting “Hey, what are you doing!?”

The two stallions turned around with one of them bellowing “Clear off kid, if you know what’s good for ya’.”

“Leave. Now.” Robyn spat.

“Robyn!?” Kodi flapped.

“Robyn be careful!” Hannah yelled.

“We’ve already called the cops, you’ve got about two minutes before they arrive.” Robyn lied, stepping closer to the thieves.

“You need to learn when to shut up brat!” The Stallion with buck teeth barked, flexing his muscles.

“Go run home to your ma, you cute little bunny.” The other horse teased, this one holding the bolt cutters.

“Cute?” Robyn whispered, her eyes narrowing.

“Oh hell.” Kodi gulped.

“He called her the ‘c’ word.” Hannah grimaced

“Last chance ass hats; leave.” Robyn said, standing her ground.

The horse with the bolt cutters had heard enough and swung the bolt cutters down at Robyn, she dodged them easily and kicked the stallion in the gut with such a force he was knocked into the side of his pick up truck with a visible dent….that was impossible Robyn was around the 17 pound mark in weight yet she managed to kick and launch 1500lb horse with little effort, The medicine!? She thought it gave super strength too! When Robyn realised what she had done she felt a surge of energy course through her, she was going to teach these thieves a lesson she bared her canine like teeth and grinned at the other horse who looked terrified and simply said “Playtime.”
