the life and times of obi wan kenobi

Request: I’m sorry, I know I just sent an ask, but I just saw your four word prompts and can you do a “I can’t do this” with Obi-Wan/Reader while Obi-Wan is a padawan? That would be fantastic

a/n: Hello everyone! Again, sorry for disappearing. My life has been suuuuper hectic with school, in fact my finals are next week, and my grades are sort of terrible right now, so I haven’t had any time to sit down and write anything besides essays. But with summer break inching nearer and a bigger abundance of time on my hands, I’m hoping to have all the old requests cleared out and have the asbox opened for new ones by the end of June at the latest, and then we can get this show on the road! Fair warning, this one’s pretty angsty. Anyway, that’s more than enough rambling from me; enjoy the fic! - Eliza

100% Totally Accurate Facts About Your Favorite Jedi

1. Depa Biliba is the reigning Jedi Temple Beer Pong Champion.

2. It’s well established that Anakin Skywalker eats live bugs.  Less well known is that Ahsoka has moved up the food chain to live small vertebrates.

3. Mace Windu has played Dr. Frankenfurter on stage.  Three times.  He’s got a lovely voice and the legs for the role.

4. 67% of all chupacabra sightings are actually Master Yoda.

5. Obi-wan Kenobi has “lost” a total of twelve robes since the war began,  However, at least three of them are in his Commander’s foot locker.

6. Quinlan Vos has technically only broken one bone in his life, his left radius.  However, he’s broken it on seventeen separate occasions, mostly by doing “Stupid shit” according to his commander.

7. Jocasta Nu can rap like hell, and has been a contributing artist on several underground albums.

8. Plo Koon is considered massively attractive for a Kel-Dor.  He rarely visits his home-world because he doesn’t like the attention.

9.  Kit Fisto cries whenever he sees baby animals.  They’re so small.

10. Aalya Secura is a Certified Tax Accountant, and does a side business on the rare occasion things are slow.

11. Shaak Ti didn’t realize she actually IS venomous until she was well into her thirties.  She didn’t realize she was dyslexic either.  Jedi healthcare is a goddamn mess.

Things I believe with all my heart and soul:  Obi-Wan Kenobi cheats at games. Card games, holoboard games, dice games, space paintball games, etc.  You name it, he’ll cheat at it.

And he has such an unreadable face that nobody can ever catch him at it, they suspect maybe a quarter of the time he’s got a card up his sleeve or that he moved the Holo pieces on the dejarik board or that he used the Force to turn over the dice to a better roll, but they can never prove it and eventually everyone who’s known him for longer than a week refuses to play any kind of game with him anymore.

The one time Ahsoka managed to catch him sliding a card up his sleeve for later, she crowed about it for a week, and Obi-Wan had never been prouder of her.  (He’s tried to teach Anakin how to cheat at cards, but that disaster just has no sabacc face whatsoever and can’t spot anyone else’s tell to save his life, once he gets going on a game.)

Tano and Kenobi: Curiosity

Previously on Tano and Kenobi…

Two years into a successful apprenticeship with Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano, Padawan Learner Obi-Wan Kenobi is filled with both excitement and anxiety at promise of his very first mission with his master. But before they jet off to Raxus on the Outer Rim, Obi-Wan needs to do some researching in the Jedi Archives.

First | Previous | Next | AO3

The sun had set by the time Ahsoka and Obi-Wan arrived back at the Jedi Temple, the five spires lit up as a beacon to one and all, the great seat of light and hope in the galaxy.

This was the home of the Jedi.

This was the heart of the Order.

Obi-Wan had exhausted his questions about their upcoming assignment and was trailing after Ahsoka, observing the people on the streets as they passed them. The Temple District was quieter than the Senate District but there was always something to see. Sentients from every corner of the galaxy could be found in the district, from academics and scholars who wanted to do research on the Jedi and their history to those who came seeking a chance to work within the Temple grounds to those who simply saw the Temple as a tourist spot, a place one simply had to see when they got a chance to visit Coruscant.

Security at the Temple during Ahsoka’s childhood had been far more rigorous than it was now. She was still surprised to see the occasional tour group put together by a senatorial friend of the High Council or a wide-eyed clutch of invited sentients following after whatever Jedi Master had been roped into giving the tour this time. Ahsoka had once tagged along with one of these groups during her first year back in the past, following Master Diaz and a crop of new senators from the Mid Rim through the halls as she tried to re-learn where everything was supposed to be.

“Master?” Obi-Wan’s voice broke into Ahsoka’s thoughts as they entered the Temple. “Master? I… may I confess something?”

They had just passed through the massive main entrance of the Temple, moving past the towering bronzium statues that represented great masters from the ancient days of the Order. Ahsoka glanced at Obi-Wan and nodded, gesturing for him to follow her over to a private corner.

Safely tucked away where no one could hear them, Ahsoka turned to her padawan. “What is it, Obi-Wan? Is something wrong?”

Such as that cute ex-Stormtrooper who saved Poe’s life, his droid, and most of his jacket.

Unfortunately (fortunately? He’s not really sure) for Poe, Finn knows what Kylo Ren is capable of, and he’s determined to help.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • A man whose two biggest flaws were “clenched-jaw insistence on absolute correctness” and inability to open about his feelings.
  • A man, who, when being asked if he believes that Anakin Skywalker is the Chosen One, did not admit he does. Only to reveal in the final duel on Mustafar that all this time he was the greatest believer in Anakin and the prophecy.
  • A man, who, when being warned by Yoda about the danger of attachment towards Anakin, did not understand what the green Master was talking about. Only to finally realize and admit to himself on Mustafar that “the man he faced was everything Obi-Wan had devoted his life to destroying: Murderer. Traitor. Fallen Jedi. Lord of the Sith. And here, and now, despite it all …Obi-Wan still loved him.”
  • A man who knew about Anakin and Padme’s relationship and kept their secret for years. Only to confess to Padme in the last day prior Anakin’s turn to the Dark Side that all this time he knew.
  • A man who spent twenty years in exile on Tatooine regretting the words he never said to Anakin.

Things I want to see in an Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off movie:
  • Force Ghost Qui-Gon Jinn
  • lOTS of fLASHbacks
  • Satine references and/or flashbacks!
  • Young Luke being innocent af and reminding Ben of Anakin
  • Obi-Wan sort-of-accidentally using Anakin’s lightsaber along with his own in Jar’kai when fighting a bounty hunter or someone, and then being fucking horrified right after when he realizes what he did. (an excuse for me to see Ewan McGregor using two lightsabers)
  • Obi-Wan acknowledging and struggling to deal with the shit show that is his life (honestly they don’t address this enough in canon)
  • Flashbacks to Obi-Wan’s time as a padawan because there’s barely anything about that in canon
  • Flashbacks to Anakin’s time as a padawan between Episodes I and II
  • Clone Wars flashbacks (bonus points if it relates directly to the 2008 and/or the 2003 cartoon)
  • Obi-Wan crying and having flashbacks and/or nightmares and stuff.  A lot.
  • Obi-Wan better not leave Tatooine, or so help me…
  • Obi-Wan talking to Bail Organa over comm about Luke, and Bail talking about Leia.  Also Bail Organa talking about forming the Rebellion at some point in the future.
  • Obi-Wan talking to Yoda through the Force
  • Obi-Wan learning how to become a Force Ghost after death and becoming much more of a Jedi than before.  Because the Obi-Wan we see in Twin Suns and A New Hope is markedly different from the one we see in Revenge of the Sith, and it has to be because of his exile.
  • OBI-WAN FINDING OUT THAT DARTH VADER SURVIVED MUSTAFAR (this can be done in a flashback or something I guess)
  • Owen Lars being sort-of-an-asshole but Beru Lars being kind to Obi-Wan, even when he asks them to let him train Luke.  (They obviously say no).

Whatever else you might want to say about STAR WARS fandom, I have SO MUCH AFFECTION for it, there are so many people writing really good stories and drawing really beautiful art and coming up with really great scenarios and especially in PT fandom there’s a group of people that I never have to apologize for being a fan of the prequels. I don’t have to feel like I’m expected to preface everything with qualifiers, instead I can just whole-heartedly embrace what I love and that it’s good for me, that I honestly enjoy it genuinely, that this part of fandom absolutely embraces the good and loves these characters and this world/galaxy with me.

Every time I sink into a really good fic, when I come out of it, I remember, yes, I am so glad to be here, I’m so glad there are others who are filled with just as much genuine love for these characters as I am. So here’s another list of fics that give me that happy, fizzy feeling of being in a fandom I love. (Fic recs every Wednesday.)

Capture and Release by Rocket_Sith, obi-wan/anakin, some bondage, 13.9k wip
Anakin’s past comes back to haunt him unexpectedly during a mission. What starts as Obi-Wan’s attempt to help him face his fears takes on a life of its own and evolves into so much more.
wicked thing by imaginarykat, obi-wan/anakin & ahsoka & cast, nsfw, sith!obi-wan, 97.3k wip

Drastic steps are taken and in the process things go a little bit…sideways.
Conspiracy Theorist Obi-Wan Kenobi by tcf-dendral, obi-wan & cast, 1.1k
His hindsight, Obi-Wan thinks, was not twenty-twenty in this instance, and he wishes he had thought ahead to the possible consequences of what seemed like an inconsequential action at the time. Mostly, he would do better in the future to remember how information, true or not, tends to spread like wildfire across the HoloNet.
untitled by phosphorescent-naidheachd, padme & cast, ~1k
Picture Padmé – not a Sith, not particularly Force sensitive, but Palpatine’s protégé and confidant nonetheless.

Let your heart be light by imaginedestiel, obi-wan/anakin, NSFW, 5.1k
Obi-Wan does his best to keep Anakin warm while they celebrate a little time off together.
hold the harmony (breathe) by engmaresh, obi-wan/anakin/padme, 1.7k
Of course their ship crashed. Of course there’s a blizzard, with no hope for immediate help. But they’ve got blankets, food, and well, each other. In which Anakin and Padme invite Obi-Wan into their bed blanket fort.
Death’s Shade by Susan Zell, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 30.9k
A devious plot by the enemy is initiated that could wipe out the Jedi without firing a weapon, leaving Obi-wan Kenobi fighting for his last breath as Anakin races to save him.

Okay but

imagine the Jedi finding like, holonet fansites about them.

People who freak out and take pictures whenever they see a jedi

people who have whole worlds of wildly inaccurate headcanons about Jedi and certain Jedi whose pictures of various everyday heroics have become holonet memes

people who make plastoid lightsaber props

in the clone wars, whole fansites and blogs dedicated solely to Kenobi and Skywalker

Obi-Wan finds them and is scandalized

Anakin finds them and has the time of his life - he actual starts his own blog anonymously, which he updates with really good photos and funny, OOC posts about himself and Obi-Wan  (((but liek how does he get those photos???/?? like kriff’s sake NO one KNEOWS)))

Master Yoda follows this blog religiously

Literally everyone in the Temple knows about Anakin’s blog except for Obi-Wan

Mace Windu trolls all of the comments section. The kicker? He does so as himself, but no one believes him, everyone thinks he’s a fan that somehow got the username TheRealMaceWindu

Palpatine follows Anakin’s blog, but does not know that it is anakin. He thinks it is some very distractible, annoying fanboy.

When the generals aren’t watching, the clones pick up all the dime store novels based on the Jedi and snigger to themselves in the barracks at the ridiculous sterotypes and misrepresentations - especially when Kenobi is made into a middle-aged heart throb.

Eventually, Anakin grows lax with his anonymity and starts his own blog as himself - it becomes one of the most popular blogs in the republic within a matter of weeks.

He posts a lot about Obi-Wan, only because he knows he will hate it. Obi-Wan’s consistent death glares at the camera have inspired their own meme.

Ahsoka once hacked Anakin’s blog and posted pictures of him making weird faces

Less Than 100 Kudos Fic Reclist

I’m getting real salty and tired of seeing reclists always, and I mean ALWAYS, showcasing fics that already get plenty of attention. Do these writers deserve it? Yes, of course, their fics are on a reclist for a reason to begin with, but what about the peeps that are already sifting through the crumbs? The ones that always get left out?

So, I decided: how about a reclist that only has fics with lower kudos counts that are also really good? How about making people that don’t normally get to feel special, special?

Thus from the fires of spite and salt, this was created! I’ll be updating it every once in awhile, and recs from other peeps are always wanted. For now, here’s a few.

(And for people that have been keeping up with my whinging today, I won’t be putting up any of my fic. GASP. Here she was, bitching about not getting put on reclists and she won’t even put herself on a reclist? Yep. Deal with it, I guess? I may bitch about not being noticed as much as my validation-starved ass wants to be, but most of my fic are over 100 kudos. I won’t throw myself where I don’t belong. Well… okay, maybe one or two, but just so I can include a middle finger emoji directed at certain fic rec list creators for making me feel unwanted and unnecessary and unskilled because of their fucking reclists. What can I say! I’m salty!)*

*I will be including a few fics over 100 kudos that I think deserve more recognition as well, because fuck you I can break my own rules

anonymous asked:

Obi-Wan/Rex, secret marriage (but without drama! There is nothing I like more than ppl getting married and then... kinda forgetting... to tell ppl about it)

I’m rolling in the fluff, guys, it’s awesome.

It starts like this :

Anakin is walking up the stairs leading to the Temple, and he passes near Obi-Wan and Rex, and his former Master and the clone Captain are standing close.
Just a glimpse, and Anakin sees their hands brushing against each other, and then entwining.

He’s so surprised he trips, and rolls down two flights of stairs.
Ahsoka mocks him for days.

Anakin almost stalks them every time they are together, looking for the absolute proof he has not hallucinated that casual, intimate touch.

He doesn’t always find something, and the things he sees are… not incriminating. Looks. Touches. Small gestures, really, a brush of shoulders there, a kind smile then.
It’s at its more blatant when the 501st and 212th have been on separate ops for a long time. Then Anakin catches them whispering to each other in Mando’a, handholding and, even once, standing forehead against forehead on the main deck.

Now, Anakin hasn’t his master’s knack for picking up languages and customs, but even he knows enough about his men to understand what that is, and what ‘cyare’ means.

Obi-Wan… and Rex.

Talking to Obi-Wan about it is trickier. Anakin wants his Master to trust him, but he is also pretty miffed that his teacher can still nag him about attachment when he’s clearly involved with Anakin’s Captain.
Still, subtlety and dancing around the subject aren’t Anakin’s forte and he blurts it out in the middle of a dinner in Obi-Wan’s quarters.

“Is there something between you and Rex ?”
Obi-Wan looks surprised, before he nods. “Yes?”
“… Really ?”

Obi-Wan smiles, the kind of easy, relaxed smile he doesn’t wear that often in the middle of the war, and just for that, Anakin is glad that there is a reason for him to do so.

“Really, the same kind of thing you have with Padmé, I believe.”

Anakin chokes down on his food.

“Uh… friendship ?” he coughs, red as a Lethan.
“Marriage, Anakin.”

Uh oh. Obi-Wan knows.
Wait, what ?

“But what did the Council say ?”
“Strangely, they never mentioned it.”

Anakin knows Obi-Wan. He knows that air of perfect innocence, he uses it frequently and Ahsoka is becoming a master at it, too.

What did you do ?”
“I have no idea what you mean. I filled our paperwork in the Archives, like I should.”

Anakin stares, then smirks.

“The Archives. The ones nobody ever reads, except Master Nu.”
“Now, Anakin, that’s not kind, the Council is very busy with the war, they can’t be hold responsible for not checking every bit of paper that goes through their desks before it’s put away in Master Nu’s files.”
“Of course, Master.” the young knight grins. “Forgive me, I have to go, I forgot I had some papers to fill in.”

(But really, it starts like this :

Rex and Obi-Wan are lying next to each other, on Obi-Wan’s bunk, Obi-Wan’s face nuzzled against Rex’s chest and the clone kissing his brow frequently.

“Once the war ends…” Rex whispers, because if there are times when he can actually hope that it will end, it’s when he’s holding his Jedi in his arms, “once it ends… I’m asking you to marry me, I’m saying the vows and giving you my life.”

Obi-Wan stills, then lifts himself on his forearms to give him a long, deep kiss, then pressing his forehead against Rex’s. His eyes are shining with love and mirth.

“Why wait ?”)

Ask me silly prompts !

I finally read the Jedi Apprentice series (if you are a Star Wars fan/Obi-Wan fan GO READ THEM its worth it) and so I thought I’d post my thoughts on the little things I love about the series:

-Obi-Wan has apparently always been a little sassafras (soooo much sass and salt)

- The sheer level of “give no f*cks” Qui-Gon has reached

-The friendship with Obi-Wan, Bant, Garen, and Reeft

-Little Obi has too many problems

-Xanatos “I burned a hole in my face for the aestheitc” du Crion

-Basically the entire Melida/Daan story arc hoo boy

-How often Qui-Gon uses mind tricks

-Obi-Wan’s New Alien Friend™ every book

-How “amusement” apparently equals “dragging my 16 year old padawan out at the crack of dawn to go climb a treacherous mountain populated by bloodthirsty beasts” in Qui-Gon speak

-Obi-Wan’s sweet tooth

-That Qui-Gon literally said “I don’t need a plan” at one point

-Obi-Wan giving his lightsaber to Qui-Gon- his life and trust

-When Qui-Gon was complaining about how reckless Obi-Wan had been disobeying orders and Adi Gallia was just like “yeah you taught him well”

-How the Jinn/Kenobi team gets into awful trouble EVERY SINGLE TIME even when they just go visit a friend or something

-The bounty hunter with the whip

-The fact that there was actually a decent amount of well written and interesting female characters

-”Qui-Gon is tall” jokes

-Obi’s “My place is by your side” line

-That one time when Obi-Wan was injured so Qui-Gon just picked him up bridal style and ran off with him (not even kidding)

-Even though the writing is pretty simplistic, it will still hit you with a boatload of feels

-Like when Qui-Gon was meditating about Obi-Wan and was sad and confused when he couldn’t see a vision of them working together as Jedi Knights

-New alien species!

-”In the life of a Jedi, things seldom go according to plan.”

-The flashback special books when we get to see padawan Anakin too

-When Obi-Wan said “Jedi do not threaten. We inform” to Anakin when literally 10 seconds earlier he was like- get tf over here and talk or I’ll blow you out of the sky

-More Jedi telepathy through force bonds

sw meme// 2/4 ships: Anakin & Obi-wan

You are strong and wise, Anakin, and I am very proud of you. I have trained you since you were a small boy. I have taught you everything I know. And you have become a far greater Jedi than I could ever hope to be, and you have saved my life more times than I can remember

No (Or: Anakin Skywalker in Ten Steps)

1. When he’s eight years old he decides that freedom means never having to say “Yes Master” or any variation thereof again.

2. Two days later, he starts counting. In one day, he says it 13 times. Kitster says he said it 16 times, and Anakin wonders if that’s worse, or just more of the same.

3. When the Jedi comes, Anakin calls him “sir.” He hates that word, too, but he’s learned the hard way that it’s safer. The Jedi doesn’t correct him.

4. Even so, for a few days after leaving Tatooine he almost believes he’s free. He’s off planet (and that’s where all the freed people go, isn’t it?), and in a starship, and he’s going to be a Jedi. He’s heard a lot of stories about the Jedi, but none of them say they’re slaves.

5. He was wrong, though. He has to call all the Jedi “Master,” and there are rules to follow, and they cut his hair and dress him and tell him where to go and how to behave and what to do. Master Obi-Wan tries to explain the difference, but he can’t see it, so he doesn’t understand.

He chafes, but never too much. He’s always known just how far he can push, and no further.

6. By the time he’s nineteen years old, and in love, he’s said “Yes Master” 22,753 times.

7. Padmé is upset that they have to hide their wedding, that it has to be private and unshareable. She pretends that it doesn’t bother her so much, and in return he pretends that it does bother him, too.

It doesn’t, though. On Tatooine, all slave marriages are like this. He’s always known he would get married this way.

8. He’s going to be a father, and he’s joyful and giddy and terrified. (He’s now said “Yes Master” 35,802 times.)

There’s a corner of his mind that repeats the old Tatooine law like a mantra. Children follow the mother. His child will be free.

9. There’s something to be said, he thinks, for choosing one’s own master. Or at least having the illusion of choice. He’s now said “Yes Master” 35,998 times, and as he kneels before Palpatine, he could almost believe this is what he’s always wanted.

10. Luke is twenty-four years old, whole, and beautiful, and he’s never said “Yes Master” in his life. Vader doesn’t know this empirically, of course, but he knows it all the same. The slave can always recognize the free man.

It’s not until Luke lifts away his mask and looks at him with desert blue eyes that Anakin realizes he’s said “No” for the very first time.

drabble: shall we go again? [sw, anakin, obi-wan]

Anakin,” Obi-Wan breathed.

“Master,” Anakin responded. “Settle down. You have a concussion, and Kix is working on getting some bacta for you but you need to rest, alright? No sudden mov–”

And then his arms were full of Obi-Wan, squeezing him tightly. “You’re alive.”

Anakin laughed, but gently patted Obi-Wan on the back, trying to get the other man to let go. “I’m alive? You’re the one with the concussion, old man, what are you talking about?”

“I had a dream,” Obi-Wan said, quiet and thoughtful, like he wasn’t quite there anymore. “But it felt so real. A vision, maybe? No, a nightmare. But even a nightmare couldn’t have come up with all those years on Tatoine–it doesn’t matter. You’re alive.” He let go of Anakin’s shoulders only to pat him on the face with awe, like it had been years since he’d last seen Anakin’s face. “My Ani.”

That was strange: Obi-Wan had never called him Ani before.

“Hit your head nice and hard, didn’t you, Master?”

“It doesn’t matter,” Obi-Wan shook his head. “Maybe you aren’t even real, now, and the Force is playing games with me. Maybe Darth Vader is about to wake me up and tell me this has been some sort of mind game–”

Anakin frowned. “Darth Vader? Who the hell is that? Do we have another Sith to worry about now?”

“But I don’t care, because I need to tell you something,” Obi-Wan leaned forward, holding Anakin’s face in his hands, his forehead touching Anakin’s slightly. “I didn’t tell you before, because I thought–with the Council and the Code–I thought I shouldn’t. But Anakin,” he closed his eyes. “If I had to choose between you and the Jedi, I would choose you. In every life, in every time. I love you.” He blinked, slowly, as if coming back to himself somehow, and then: “I think I’m going to pass out.”

And then he did.

Hours later, Obi-Wan did not recall the conversation, but Anakin did, and that made all the difference.
