You taught me the courage of stars before you left. How light carries on endlessly, even after death. With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite. How rare and beautiful it is to even exist.
I couldn’t help but ask For you to say it all again. I tried to write it down But I could never find a pen. I’d give anything to hear You say it one more time, That the universe was made Just to be seen by my eyes.
Is there any new news after what volpe said about the last star vs episode? because im a bit left behind
Not really. Adam mentioned meeting Jackie and Moon’s voice actor (yes they have the same voice yes I know it’s hard to believe) while recording, so I guess at least one of them is still alive in season 3. Good to know.
Janna and Star helps Tom discover his feelings for Marco
AHHH this one was so fun to write and I enjoyed it so much! Let’s play another game of spot the reference! This one is super easy! Enjoy!
Marco grabbed his book bag and ran past his friends. “I’ll see you guys in a bit! I just have to run off to finish this paper at the library.” he called to them. Star gave him a thumbs up and Janna ignored him. Tom on the other hand waved way too fast and way to nervous.
“B-bye Marco! Goodbye! I mean… see you later! Hopefully not, haha, good luck on your dumb research paper.” Tom muttered the last part. Marco rolled his eyes and left. Star leaned forward and watched Tom for a moment. “What?” He asked.
“What the hell was that?” She asked. Tom shrugged.
“I was just being mean to Marco. I’m always mean to Marco.” Tom rolled his eyes and looked down at his phone. Star shook her head and made him look up at her.
“Yeah but that was different… that was weird.” She pointed out. Tom blushed and looked back down at the lock screen of his phone. He just wanted to look away from the prying eyes. “What’s going on?” Star demanded. Tom huffed.
“Nothing! I just like making fun of Marco.” Tom insisted. Janna rolled her eyes.
“You’re acting super weird.” She agreed with Star. “And it’s not just now, it’s been like this the past few times we’ve hung out. The teasing, the laughter, you act like he’s poisonous to be around! He touched your arm at the movie theatre and you literally jumped out of your chair.” Janna reminded. Tom bit his lip.
“So what? I don’t like him, that’s old news.” Tom mumbled. Janna shook her head and she and Star nodded at each other.
“I think this is the exact opposite.” Star insisted. Janna leaned against Star and nodded.
“Yup, my girl’s right. I think you’re in the ‘L’ word.” Janna teased. Star nodded and gasped.
“Lice!” She declared. Janna opened her mouth to say something, but closed it. She just inhaled and shook her head.
“No, Star. I was talking about love.” Janna corrected. Star gasped.
“That’s even worse!” She cried. Tom shot up out of his seat.
“No way in hell do I love Marco. I hate that guy. I’ve hated him ever since… always!” Tom seethed. “Try again, because you guys are wrong.” He dared. Janna and Star went up to be on both sides of the demon.
“We aren’t wrong.” Janna insisted. “Don’t thinl, just answer. What do you feel when he’s arounf you?” Janna asked.
“Scared.” Tom blurted out.
“Okay now quick, how do you feel when he leaves?” Star asked.
“Sad.” Tom responded. He was doing as they said but he shook his head. “I don’t want to answer any more questions.” He insisted.
“You don’t because you’re just now realizing that we’re right.” Janna bopped his head. “One more.” She told him. Tom sighed.
“Fine.” He agreed.
“When Marco comes home, if you could do anything, what would it be?” Janna asked. Tom was getting aggravated at these questions.
“Kiss him!” He snapped. Then fell back and bit his lip. Star smirked and Janna gave her friend a high-five. Tom just stood there; a complete blushing mess. “I didn’t mean-”
“Yes you did.” Star cut him off. “You meant it. Tell him.” Star urged. Tom shook his head, this time he looked a lot more anxious than angry.
“No! What if he doesn’t feel the same way?” Tom asked. “I can’t do that. He’s like… my first real friend and if I do that I’ll ruin everything!” He told them.
“Well if you never tell him then things will just get worse.” Star explained. “You’ll resent yourself for it and you’ll resent him for it. Tom, emotions are really strong things and they shouldn’t be ignored. Just talk to him… what do you have to lose?” She asked. Tom sighed.
Marco hummed to himself and he went up the walkway to his house. He stopped when he saw Tom, fooling around outside. “Oh hey, what are you doing out here?” Marco asked, walking a bit faster to be next to his friend. Tom blushed violently when he saw Marco come closer. His breath hitched and he looked in side where the girls were watching. Star gave him a thumbs-up and Janna motioned for him to go on.
“M-Marco! H-hey.” He sputtered out. “I uh…” Tom trailed off and watched Marco eye him curiously. “What… is up?” Tom asked. Star face palmed and Janna groaned. Marco shrugged and put his bag down on the ground.
“Just finished up a paper…. You know that though.” Marco laughed. “What’s up with you? Why are you waiting out here in the cold?” Marco asked. Tom gulped and took a small step forward, leaving a burnt footprint in the concrete.
“Marco we need to talk.” Tom admitted, shuffling around. “I um… I needed to just say that… you…” He trailed off, getting frustrated with himself. Marcol leaned forward.
“Yeah?” Marco asked. Tom groaned and cover his face with his hands.
“I just like you! Okay!?” Tom cried. Marco fell back a little, and Tom bit his lip. “I think I… I think I like-like you. Listen I can’t tell you why but… when I look at you my brain goes all stupid! And I just want to hug you and sit on the couch and play video games with you.” Tom admitted. Marco just stood there with wide eyes and Tom took a deep breath. “I just… I’ve never felt this way before and I think we should be together.” Tom said this last part so fast it was very hard for Marco to catch.
“I… I had no idea you felt this way.” Marco admitted. He was actually pretty nervous himself. “I um…” Marco cleared his throat and grabbed Tom, pulling him into a fast kiss. When Marco pulled away he was stark red and he pulled his hood up over his face. “See you later Tom… I have to um… bye!” Marco took off, blushing a giggling like an idiot.
“Look, we’ve all lost dearly. Our people. Our homes. The light is getting snuffed out. Solus: the last star. And this motley crue is all that is left to save it. Only we can save this. Yet, we fight each other for the scraps while a legion of cosmic horrors and a traitorous scumbag consume the universe.
“My most irrational fear is that one day my significant other will wake up and realize i was never good enough. That the person who looked at me like i put the stars in the sky could no longer find the constellations he once fell in love with.
Which brings me to here. Me; Staring into the lies of the eyes i cant live without, as i watch him fall out of love with me. As i watch the stars slowly burn out. I sit here and count the time i have left before my last star fades into the oblivion of my soul. I wait until the time im left with nothing. And i wait until the darkness takes me away once more”
“You taught me the courage of stars before you left. How light carries on endlessly, even after death. With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite. How rare and beautiful it is to even exist.”
The morning after you left for
the last time, all the stars
disappeared from the night sky.
Appeared in my breakfast bowl
instead, washed out and shimmering
feebly. The morning after you
left for the last time, the birds
Perched inside the crook of my
elbows and pecked my sides until
they bled. Climbed into
my dreams and ripped them open
from the inside out.
The ache ballooned like a desperate thing.
Like a desperate, wild thing eager to kill.
I stood by the window for hours
and tongued the word love like
it was a language I had never learnt how to speak.
Like you were a sentence I could never
quite arrange the right way.
The morning after you left for the last time,
even the trees stopped moving.
That was how I knew you weren’t coming back.
Because when you left the entire world
held its breath. Because when you left
I forgot how to breathe completely.
I enjoyed Rey’s character and Ridley’s performance thoroughly, and thinking afterward about Dave Filoni’s old mashup Avatar: The Last Airbender/Star Wars drawing from 2004/2005 when he left to run Clone Wars it certainly occurred to me that, relatively speaking, Aang is to Luke as Korra is to Rey. So I’m honored by the comparison made in this article, but I just need to clear up an old rumor that also made its way into it: J.J. Abrams *DID NOT* write on Avatar: The Last Airbender. That erroneous info is on IMDB due to some prankster from back when Lost was running at the same time as our show, and apparently it’s still up there misleading people (if anyone knows how to fix it, please do). Mike and I have never met J.J. but we did meet Damon Lindelof at the Peabody Awards in 2009 and we had a laugh about the deceitful credit. If J.J. and his co-writers were in fact inspired by Korra for Rey, that would certainly be cool, but he has no connection to the show and I don’t even know if he’s aware of it, so I’m guessing it is just a nice coincidence. But thanks to Joanna Robinson at Vanity Fair for thinking so! (There are probably some mild spoilers in the article, so be warned.) There are some other fun coincidental character similarities between The Legend of Korra and The Force Awakens, so I’m hoping Filoni—or any of you talented folks—has time for another mashup drawing. Maybe it’s already out there!
