fun fact: the jonas brothers played bamboozle in 2006 and 2007 alongside these bands……
fall out boy, panic! at the disco, paramore, my chemical romance, taking back sunday, all-american rejects, motion city soundtrack, underoath, relient k, thirty seconds to mars, saves the day, say anything, linkin park, circa survive, plain white t’s, all time low, dashboard confessional, yellowcard, new found glory, and brand new…….. just to name a few.
basically, the jonas brothers were literally lumped in as just another rock/pop punk band at the time, sooo go ahead and jot that down.
Summary: Based off the songRuin the Friendship by Demi Lovato, you and Tom have been friends for as long as you can remember without thought or action of feelings that may or may not have surfaced over time. But one night, all of that is thrown out the window.
Warnings: A LOT OF MAKING OUT HAPPENS IN THIS WOAH
A/N: I’ve never done anything in the sexy time area…So here it goes. I also mention Nick Jonas who I SWEAR the song is about. But in this, he is just a suitor, not the winner.
The bass bumped in your ears as you swayed your hips along to the beat of the song. You were currently visiting Tom, Haz, and Harry with Sam in Montreal and they all thought that tonight would be a good night to go clubbing and you couldn’t agree more.
You sipped your drink carefully, not wanting to get too intoxicated just in case one of the boys needed a ride. Your deep green, velvet dress shined in the flashing lights, the curve-hugging dress was a favorite of yours and one that was always on hand for occasions like this. The dress definitely caught the eye of many suitors who would make their way towards you all night, hugging you close to their body and swaying along.
Tom stared on as this happened, smiling as you had a good time and let loose. After hearing about University and the hell that your professors were putting you through, he couldn’t wait to offer a night out. Everyone from the set was here, minus a few grey hairs and everyone was having a good time. Nick Jonas stood next to Tom, the two chatting as they sipped at their drinks as Nick smoked his cigar slowly. Every once in a while both men’s eyes would wander over to you, without your knowledge, and made small comments to each other about the movie.
“Do you know her?” Nick finally asked before taking a drag of his thick cigar, peering at Tom with curious eyes. Tom chuckled softly as he looked back over to you, watching your hips as they swayed slowly. He quickly moved his focus back to Nick, “Yeah mate, I’ve known her since grade school. She’s my best friend.”
Nick nodded and smirked as his eyes scaled your body, moving from the top of your head to the soles of your black heels. Tom’s back straightened up as he watched Nick practically undress you with his eyes from the sidelines. Nick pushed his cigar into Tom’s hand, eagerly moving to get to you, “You don’t mind, do you? You know, since your only friends?”
Tom only shook his head with a somewhat blank expression on his face, looking towards the ground as Nick clapped him on the shoulder. His face came up to watch as Nick walked up to you, introducing himself and asking for a dance which you happily agreed to. Tom watched as your body moved slowly into Nick’s, your hips being held tightly by his hands. Your eyes moved to meet Tom’s before sending an “OH MY GOD” expression to him.
Tom didn’t blame you. Nick Jonas was a good looking guy who you had gushed about when he was in the Jonas Brothers Band, it was only natural that your found him attractive now. But Tom couldn’t handle watching someone put their hands all over you, so he put out the cigar and walked quickly towards Harry and Sam who were continuing that catching up they had to do.
Tom casually walks up to the two, not trying to seem flustered at all but almost failing miserably, “So (y/n) is dancing with Nick Jonas. She’s pretty excited about it.” Sam and Harry both looked at each with a smirk as Tom continued to watch the two of you with a clenched jaw.
“And how do we feel about that?” Harry teased, Sam, chuckling as Tom looked at him with cold eyes. He shrugged angrily, crossed her arms over his chest before looking over his shoulder at the twins, “Oh, I feel fine! Just-Just really happy for her.” He bites out, barely doing anything to hide the bitterness in his voice.
“Mate! You’re jealous!” Sam said as he chuckled louder, grabbing Tom’s shoulder to steady him as he clenched at his stomach. Tom turned around in surprised anger, “Am not!” Harry began to laugh along with Sam, the two using each other for support.
“Dude, we’ve known this for years. Bloody hell, just do something about it already!” He exclaimed, before looking over Tom’s shoulder and straightening up his act. Tom furrowed his eyebrows together before he felt a slight tap on his shoulder which he whipped around to confront only to find you with bright eyes.
“Hey, this has been fun but it’s getting late and I’m tired…Can we go, I know your hate leaving ear-”
Tom cut you off before you could finish the sentence you had started, “Yeah! Yeah! You’re the guest, let’s get out of here,” Tom looked towards the twins, gesturing towards Harrison who was pressed up against a girl, “You get him and I’ll get the car!”
Tom took your hand steadily, clasping his fingers in yours. You didn’t pay any mind to it, seeing as you both had done this many a times with one another. You just followed him out of the club, moving towards the sleek, black Range Rover that sat in the small corner parking lot. You desperately tried to keep up with Tom’s pace as he basically sprinted towards the car, “Tom! Slow down, I’m in heels!” You exclaimed humorously. He let go of your hand, the two of your moving towards the passenger door.
“Didn’t seem like a problem when you were dancing with Nick…” He let out under his breath as he opened your door for you. You barely had caught what he said, but stopped suddenly as he finished the statement, “What did you just say?”
“Nothing.” He said bitterly as he ushered you to get into the passenger seat. You took his hand off the door handle and closed the door, the small of amount of alcohol making you sensitive to his words, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing, isn’t that what I just said?” He exasperated, causing you to roll your eyes. You had to admit, this was kind of hot. You knew that he was being jealous, you had witnessed too much boyfriend-girlfriend drama with your friends back home to not know, and jealous Tom was hot. His black button down was hugging his muscles everywhere, his face looking down at your sternly with a locked jaw and steady gaze that almost made your knees buckle.
“You’re jealous.” You pushed with a small smirk, “You’re jealous of Nick Jonas dancing with me?” Your question rang in Tom’s ears as the both of you registered what you had just said. He didn’t know if it was the way that the moonlight was hitting your cheekbones, or how the danger of the open air made him feel but he knew that he had to move quickly.
Once Tom had thought short and quick about it, his lips desperately moved towards yours, his hands holding your face to his. You were surprised at the sudden movement and couldn’t believe that any of this was happening. He was your best friend, the only guy other than Harrison that had ever understood you, what was supposed to happen after this kiss.
But your brain wasn’t connected to your lips as you hungrily kissed back, moving your hands to tangle in his short curls and tugging softly. Tom let out a quiet moan as he moved his hands to your thighs and picked you up to press you against the side of the car. Everything was going in slow motion, the heat and anger and jealousy pouring out of Tom’s lips as yours were filled with hunger and desperation.
You would be lying if you said you hadn’t dreamed of this since Tom had begun college at the Brit School of Arts to pursue his career, causing him to begin training and bulking up. You had always known that Tom was quite possibly the sweetest guy, but he had always been a little too dorky for your secondary school self to be mature enough to appreciate. So sadly, it took you a while before you realized how deep your feelings were for him.
As the kiss began to slow at a hesitant pace, the two of you heard the desperate cry of Harrison’s drunk voice, “TOM! (Y/N)! Where are youuuuu?” Tom quickly moved to put you down gently, helping you into the car and moving to step out into the open lot. Thankfully, the two of you had been hidden by the huge Tahoe beside you so you wouldn’t have an ear full of the boys.
Once home, you and Tom avoided each other. Once you stepped through the door, you dashed to your room and changed out of the dress and heels into a tee-shirt and sweatpants…Tom’s tee-shirt and sweatpants. You inhaled the familiar scent, thinking back to what had happened just thirty minutes ago. Was this the awkward end to your most cherished friendship? Were you expected to book an earlier flight and leave the next day? Had the two of you crossed a line, did this kiss ruin the friendship?
You paced back and forth before finally deciding that you needed some air, so you made your way to the backyard area, sneaking past the bedrooms of the boys who had around begun getting ready for bed. You hurried past and pushed the door open swiftly before sitting down in a stiff chair. Your head tilted back as you let out a long breath, bringing a hand to rub your forehead gingerly. You silently prayed that everything would be okay and that Tom would somehow forget about what happened.
But how could he? How could you? That kiss was intense. It was full of years of pint up passion, mystery, and an undiscovered, newfound love for one another. You groaned as you sat there, a small chill running down your back as the Montreal air rushed in. You moved to get up to grab a blanket, but the door opened slowly and suddenly you weren’t alone.
“We need to u-um talk…” Tom said as he avoided eye contact, moving to hand you a fleece blanket from the couch in the living room that you gladly took. You nodded as you wrapped it around your shoulders, and he watched you as you did with his deep brown eyes looking with intent. You shivered at the thought of what those eyes did to you, only to feel guilt rush over you.
“I just…I-I was jealous of Nick, I’ll admit it. But I didn’t mean to just kiss y-you like that. Not that the kiss was bad! It was very…very good actually…But we can just forget about it. Just go on and act like nothing happened.” His hands moved quickly as he proposed this idea, a smooth crease layering his forehead as his eyes searched the ground quickly until they came to meet yours.
Nothing could hold you back after his doe eyes met your light ones. He stared at you innocently as you rushed towards him, grabbing at him and pulling his body as close to your own as humanly as possible. His lips reacted to yours quickly, arms reaching around your to hoist your legs around his waist and carrying you towards his bedroom.
“Are we really doing this?” You laugh out in between kiss with a smile. Tom smiled back at you, his eyes hooded with desperation and love, “We most certainly are.” A giggle left both pairs of lips before the sound of Tom’s bedroom door shutting rang through the empty halls.
Joe Jonas photographed the day after the Jonas Brothers publicly announced their split
Joe on 10/11/16: “I was seeing a therapist and I wasn’t on speaking terms with my brothers. When it happened, we were focussing on going on another tour and we had plans to hit the road and do what we had been doing for a while. Nick brought it to the table that he wanted to focus on different things, like acting and doing music on his own. At first, it was really shocking to me because it was kind of all I had known was the Jonas Brothers, forever. So, I was pretty mad and confused because, I was like, I’ve been putting so much time and effort into this for so long and now I just have to stop and figure out what’s next. And maybe I was a little envious of Nick because I knew that he already had kind of a leg up and had plans to work on music already and he was creating and producing. So, I was probably mad at him, too. I remember kind of losing it a little bit and I didn’t speak to anybody. I closed myself off and we cancelled the tour and didn’t really know what was going on. We were honestly trying to figure out if it was the right decision to call it off or do a final tour or final goodbye, but I think, for all of us, we did it for ten years and it was a lot of time doing one thing. After taking some time away, I realized that maybe I could start to travel and do some other stuff. I really took a long time to figure it out and I wasn’t even creating. I just traveled and tried to really find myself because I was doing this Jonas Brothers thing for so damn long. Now, I think that I’m really glad I took so much time away because I’m able to find myself and create music that I’m proud of. I started a little bit of acting and opened a restaurant. I was trying to see if maybe there was a different career path that I would go into. Ultimately, I realized that I really enjoy the music stuff, so that’s really where I found home.”

pls discuss ur opinions on the Jonas brothers I need to hear this
FUCKIN. LISTEN. TO ME.
the jonas brothers were the most iconic band to ever grace upon us in the 21st century. my mom is actually downstairs watching a documentary on a sibling group she listened to back in the day which sparked my strong opinions on this because I said “you haven’t really seen a sibling group in awhile. ACTUALLY. THE JONAS BROTHERS”
so anyways on one hand I’m glad they were a disney band because they got the success and recognition they deserved but at the same time so many people dismissed them because of them because of that!!! they could have RULED the pop punk scene. they could have been on warped tour. they could have been a BAND ™ rather than just a dreamy image if that makes sense. the lyricism was out of this world. their vocals were incredible. their talent? like. the songwriting, the music they wrote, kevin doing his tricks with the guitar on stage. it was all so authentic. the jonas brothers took over the world, and I really think they could rule it still if they were still together.
their cover of poor unfortunate souls is outta the world. they made magic when they were together. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like burnin up. that was the summer ANTHEM. they have soul. they have passion. they have talent. the jonas brothers deserved BETTER
