Join us for an opening reception featuring artwork by Emmy Star Brown. Friday, April 6th, 6 to 10 at Inkling, 2917 ½ N. Broadway St. (Oakdale at Broadway)
About the artist: Emmy Star Brown is a Chicago based artist, best recognized for her expressive paintings on salvaged glass windows. Her painted glassware, tattoo art, and vinyl laptop decals reflect her same stylistic approach, as all designs are created freehand. Her combination of vintage frames with contemporary design make for a unique contrast, creating eco-friendly artwork adaptable to any environment. All designs reflect the artist’s love for type, pattern, movement and modern design.
Over the past three years, Brown has resurrected more than 300 glass windows from the streets and alleys of Chicago. Among these treasures, she has also repurposed bundles of wood scraps, shelving, and old flooring, bringing a second life to them. Although her designs appear seamless, no stencils or templates are ever used.
