BTS: A Hip-Hop/Musical Analysis and General Musical Critique on the Korean Pop Music Scene
I’m a on-air radio personality on a radio station in California, and I felt that this is something I wanted to say and write about.
I think BTS is a totally different entity from some of the music that mainstream Korea is putting out and this is my analysis on the topic. I have been thinking about this for a while and I really wanted to get my opinion out there. If you’re interested in a long read on the analysis of Western music’s influence on Eastern pop, then please enjoy my opinionated piece.
Where I’m from poem
I did a “where I’m from poem ” for class and this is what I came up with let me know what you think pass it along.
“ I am from ports and exhaust smoke From sideshows at red lights and the hyphy movement I am from the lower projects with drug dealers outside And from the gentrification that put me and my family outside I am from the corrupt crooked police that serve us And from the city that occupied the Streets for shooting a unarmed black man lying on his stomach
I’m from beautiful sunshine and perfect weather From turf dancing around and feeding the ducks and birds I am from a beautiful lake that oversees the oppressed and the wicked I am from diverse and happy souls who surround my heart I am from the eyes of visionaries with lenses I am from the “whats my favorite word ”
I am from the young killing the young And from the homeless living in tent city I am from the delays and traffic on bridges And from the pot holes in the street I am from the oak tree and broken backyards I am from the west side”
