Alternative American Wizarding School: Maralleyne University

Maralleyne University, Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana

  • Founded in 1788 following The Great New Orleans Fire, which destroyed the original school building, by Étienne Maralleyne, the third son of a chef in Marseille and a pureblood graduate from Beauxbaton and his wife Roxane, a mudblood Beauxbaton grad.
  • Also known as Hex-U.
  • Primary studies in jinxes, hexes, curses, demonology, potions, and the study of loa. While students may study voodoo, conference of a degree does not grant a student the right to be queen, king, priestess, or priest, as voodoo is a spiritual practice in addition to a magical one.
  • Because of the focus given to the dark arts, Maralleyne is also home to the premiere Defense against the Dark Arts teachers in North America. One must always be on hand during hex and curse classes, as a precaution.
  • Colors: Purple and Silver
  • Accessible by the paddlewheel boat Le Cygne d’Argent

The school now resides on a hidden island in Lake Pontchartrain, protected by a misdirection spell that directs anyone attempting to approach without using an enchanted boat around the island. They find themselves simply unable to point their vessel directly at it. It is also cloaked with an invisibility spell, so the water’s surface appears unbroken.

Which next gen kids are most interested in performing arts, visual arts, athletics, and tech stuff? I mean, some are obvious, like Lian and archery or Arthur jr and swimming, etc. What I mean is more hobby/interest-wise outside of vigilantism and hero life

Hello anon!

Love the question!

- Damian has a talent for drawing, sketching, and painting, but only does so in private. He keeps a hoard of sketchbooks in a secret compartment of his room. He also is in-charge of Wayne Tech’s organizations and donations to zoo’s and animal centers, going to animal shelters and helping animals find homes on his free time.

- Irey loves to sing and sings in show choir at Keystone City Middle School. She sings anywhere, anytime to have fun and uplift the team. She’s also on her schools cross county team and loves helping to decorate the school for spirit days and dances.

- Lian plays the guitar, loves rock and roll music. She has a band who goes with her to heavy metal concerts and loves visiting skate-parks to do flips off her skateboard and scooter. She is also a daily Vlogger on YouTube and shares embarrassing videos of her friends.

- Mar’i loves to dance and dances for Gotham’s dance team. She even got her grandpa Bruce and dad to make a dance room in the mansion. She’s also the school photographer and is in charge of the school yearbooks, scrapbooks, and front page pictures for the school newspaper articles.

- Jon loves learning new instruments, playing the violin, piano, guitar, clarinet, flute, and saxophone. He’s in Metropolis’ Middle school orchestra and band. He is also one of the schools best news reporters, often visiting his Uncle Perry at the Daily Planet.

- Milagro is a tri-athlete. She’s her schools Soccer Team Leader, Volley Ball Leader, and she’s the Tennis Team Leader. She is also on the schools social media club, has a fashion blog, and gives fashion tips on YouTube.

- Jai is the techy, being in tech club and video game clubs. He spends his free time coding and learning about graphics in video games. He especially focuses in bettering virtual reality.

- Colin, who goes to Gotham Academy, loves being involved in health and community service organizations. He’s in Red Cross, Pink Ribbon Club, and helps set up food and toy drives. He’s also in the school football team, which Mar’i made him join and he ended up liking it.

Before Grumps: Suzy + Barry

Barry gets along with his brother Alex, but they didn’t always get along as kids.

Barry says that his dad had games on his PC and Suzy “Awws” and Barry says, “You just love dads!” Barry used to watch his dad play chess on the computer when he was a kid.

Barry tried to get his parents to play newer games, but they didn’t get into it.

Barry’s dad is an electrical engineer and dabbles in real estate.

Suzy wants to interview Barry’s dad. (Goddamn she does love dad’s)

In high school Barry was a drama nerd. He dabbled in theater in middle school because his brother Alex started doing it and Barry wanted to be like him. He also met Jon in drama in middle school.

Barry apparently lived like 5 minutes away from Jon.

As a freshman Barry auditioned for the more advanced drama class and he had to sing a song so he brought his guitar and played ‘secret agent man’ as his audition song. He also started learning guitar around 7th grade.
