And this is what happens when I don’t have homework. Based on this imagine.
“Bilbo, will you braid my hair for me?” The question slipped out of your mouth before you could stop it. It hadn’t been meant to sound so “implication-like”, as he would call it later on, but it had already come out, and there was no avoiding it now.
The hobbit blinked bleakly in your direction. “You want me to what?” he squeaked when he found his voice.
Ok so you may have noticed from late looking at my blog that I have developed a thing for Aidan Turner. I’ve been going on You Tube a lot lately to watch various videos of him and developed a playlist. It was then I thought that those on Tumblr who also like Aidan Turner might want to see some (or all) of these videos so I thought I’d share them with you all!
These are videos that I like to watch so they don’t cover everything but if you want to contribute more links re-blog, add your links and pass it on to your followers. There are a couple of fan made videos which I like to watch but there are only a couple promise - everything else is interviews and scenes from various things he has been in so here we go!
Summarizing Antigone by Sophocles with the help of both agerman and a norwegian version and some mint tea🍵I always look for opportunities to use my dip pen and ink, I think it’s fun and special to write with.
I was at school all day, even though I have break, because I followed a friend of mine to all of her classes today. German, maths and History and Culture of the Antique. After, we and another friend, went to a café and drank hot chocolate. We also went to a new bookstore and browsed for at least half an hour. I also visited the brass band and was allowed to play along 🎺
🎶 Misty Mountains by Richard Armitage (my brass band played this and it sounds very good)
Idk, maybe because 95% of the cast is male, all orcs are male and all the existing female characters are there just to be mothers, lovers or just “beautiful” - even the one that was supposed to be some kind of empowering feminist statement was brought down to “fell in love after failing horribly on the battlefield”. Watch the Battle of the Five Armies and point to me even one female warrior among the hundreds of soldiers that is not Tauriel, who is a character specifically made for the movies because Tolkien didn’t put in a single important female into the books. Maybe because the only dark skinned people, the Haradrim, is just a bunch of savage raiders while all the civil races are exclusively european white folk - whitest at the most civil end of the spectrum. Maybe because the infrastructure of the world makes no sense whatsoever - cities and fortresses being wide in the open or deep in inaccessible terrain with no source of water or food, no farmland and no siege countermeasures - which tells more about the movie creators’ understanding of medieval warfare than about Tolkien admittedly.
And maybe mostly because despite LotR being unique and first of its kind at the time, forging path to what now is considered fantasy, it created a wave of elf-dwarf-orc franchises that all followed Tolkien’s racist and sexist undertones without acknowledging any of their predecessor’s flaws.
