“So, what do you think?”

“I think you’re right. Finding out what happened before Bucky Barnes entered college may provide you a lead. However, I’d like to remind you that –“

You bat the air with your palm and interrupt, “No, silly. I was talking about the outfit.” Placing your hands on your hips, you do your best supermodel twirl before hunching your torso into an exaggerated high-fashion pose. “What do you think?” you repeat.

Steve stares at you in a half incredulous, half disgruntled manner. He sweeps his hand up and down in front of your contorted form. “It’s just a t-shirt and jeans,” he matter-of-factly points out.

“I know, but I’m also asking about the ensemble.” You straighten your spine and point to your white sneakers. “Should I change to flats? Or heels? Do people wear heels to college parties?”

“Just stick with the white –” Steve abruptly halts mid-sentence. He mutters something about staying focused before shooting his laser-sharp gaze your way. “Did you really summon me because you wanted feedback on an outfit?” he asks, spitting out the last word as if it left a bad taste in his mouth.

“This is my first party on Earth, Steve-o. I don’t remember my time on Earth, but you remember yours, so I need your help with human fashion. I can’t just walk in there wearing anything. First impressions may not be accurate, but they’re important.”

“Mmhm, now remind how your first impression went with Bucky Barnes.”

Brow furrowed in mock-seriousness, you point a defensive finger at the sarcastic grim reaper. “Hey now, Bucky was a tough cookie, but look how well it’s going!” Feeling a small urge to continue tooting your horn, you lean in and whisper, “I think he’s coming around!”

kagehina:

  • I like the way your clothes smell by @mysecretfanmoments; kagehina; 75k; ‘Power outages, ghost stories, and the presence of a certain orange-haired boy lead to bad decision-making on Tobio’s part. He’d planned to keep his crush a secret; the universe has other plans.’

  • kisses by buu; 4k; ‘There’s a blur and Hinata remembers warm lips, surprisingly soft from someone who frowns all the time, and Kageyama’s terrified face when he pulls back, and the electricity running through Hinata’s entire body, heating his cheeks to match Kageyama’s. / Kissing, it turns out, is as good as volleyball.’
  • Ridiculous by @festivetrickster; kagehina ft yachi; 3.5k; ‘After Yachi’s heater broke at her own apartment, Hinata and Kageyama invite her to stay at theirs until it gets fixed. Only, the problem is: 1) the repairman is never going to come, 2) temporarily living with Hinata and Kageyama is …stressful, to say the least.’

They’re probably disturbing anyone who’s still at the school – but then, it’s New Year’s Eve. He’d always hated stories, real or fictional, about people doing ridiculous and self-destructive things for love, but now here he was, palming his smartphone idly and wondering with complete seriousness if it would survive an eight meter drop with substantial but repairable damage.“ / (Or; All Daichi’s electronics are endangered the moment he realizes he can’t get that sweet, patient, ridiculously attractive IT tech off his mind.)’
  • World Will Follow After by @kiribakus; daisuga; 7k; ‘Sir, are you interested in the flavor of the day? Is that what’s going on here?? Akaashi sat next to him in the little chair lift and watched the trails of small paw prints disappear between the clusters of fir trees. The snow glittered in the sun, the air was icy fresh and everything would have been picture perfect if it wasn’t for the intruder shaking his snowboard around in the third seat. / “Are you talking about me?” asked Tanaka, whom Tsukishima was very obviously talking about. / “Do you see any other people which the devil would have sent to punish me?” / “There’s some right behind us,” said Tanaka, pointing to the following chair lift filled with an excitedly jumping Bokuto, a maniacally smiling Nishinoya and Kuroo who sat in the middle and looked like he contemplated jumping into the treetops below. / Well – he did have a point there.’

  • intra-team espionage by hananapeel; aone & futakuchi; 1.2k; ‘A normal end to a normal Friday night: a fuming Kamasaki, an unapologetic Futakuchi, and Aone, who is dragged along for the ride every single time.”
  • it’s like the hunger games, but better by safra; seijoh genfic; 3k; ‘“Just a game of paintball?” Hanamaki parrots, eyes widening as he takes another step forwards until they’re standing practically nose to nose. “Kindaichi, Kindaichi, my poor naive Kindaichi. This is more than just a game.” / Kindaichi frowns. “It…is?” / “Kindaichi,” Oikawa says sharply, shoving Hanamaki out of the way so he can grasp Kindaichi tightly by the shoulders. “This is a matter of life or death.” / “I mean, I don’t think it’s really tha—” / “Life or death,” Oikawa, Hanamaki, Matsukawa and Iwaizumi say loudly in unison.’

  • Hello, Halcyon Days by tookumade; aone & hinata; 2k; ‘No matter where he walked in Sendai city, Aone was always given a wide berth. He supposed it made getting around places easier, but there was a sort of loneliness in how people gave him fearful looks and avoided him as much as they did.’
  • no unread messages by warfare; kageyama & kenma; 5k; ‘Kageyama also remembers that he’d failed utterly at getting to talk to him. He’d been baffled about it at the time; what kind of setter doesn’t want to talk about setting? But maybe this is the answer. Maybe Nekoma’s setter - (“Kenma,” Hinata chides frustratedly the third or fourth time he says it, “his name is Kenma") - maybe Kenma-san is just bad face-to-face. Kageyama can understand that, to some extent, although he doesn’t quite understand why that would extend to talking to him about volleyball, but fine. He can accommodate this, if that’s what it takes. He asks for Kenma’s contact information immediately. I was playing Undertale and I found an expensive blue jacket and I wanted to give it to Papyrus and when I came to their house, Sans was kidnapped by a monster, and in order to get Sans back, I had to say a Bible verse, so I recited John 10:9, which went like: “I know the gate, I am the gate, and I am the key and guardian of the gate.

“Seventeen Days” (Masterlist)

Your feet land on a cushy rug, and an audible sigh leaves you. Contrary to popular assumption, the journey from heaven has been a bumpy one. No offense to the technicians of heaven, but there has to be a smoother way to cross the barrier between mortality and the divine.

Clutching your stomach, you lean against the wall for a breather. “Whew, that was horrible,” you let out as your stomach calms down.

“Aren’t you the one who set fire to David Bowie’s cape?”

You snap your head in the direction of the safehouse’s living room. Lounging on a couch is a young blonde sporting glasses and a cap. He studies you with piercing scrutiny, his blue eyes battling with your equally relentless gaze. As this is a safehouse for non-humans, you deduce he’s either a celestial being or a mythical creature in disguise as a human.

“I’ve heard stories, and… Yes, it’s definitely you,” he chuckles, crossing his legs with leisure. “You’re definitely the one who burned Bowie’s cape.”

Crossing your arms against your chest, you frown at the blonde. “I literally just got here. Is that really an appropriate way to greet someone who just made the journey from heaven to Earth?” you cluck.

“What do you want me to say? I’m sorry the ride to Earth wasn’t all rainbows and glitter with the Hallelujah chorus playing in the background?”

You curiously peer at the blonde, giving him the once-over as a pregnant pause blankets the room. A smile slowly invades your lips as you place your hands on your hips. “You’re a sassy grump. We’re either going to get along wonderfully or kill each other,” you confidently conclude.

The blonde snorts out a laugh and stands to his full height, forcing you to tilt your head upwards to meet his eyes. He holds out his hand with a cordial smile. “I’m Steve, Grim Reaper and your official mentor during your stay,” he introduces.

“Seventeen Days” (Masterlist)

They say when death is knocking at your door, life flashes before your eyes. You see much or the totality of your life history in chronological order, scenes and memories compiled into a fast and detailed movie.

But what happens when you’ve already greeted death in the past? What if death has already escorted you up the stairway to heaven?

Well, you don’t get much time to contemplate, because everything happens quickly. Streaks of blue flash by your eyes and suddenly there’s silence.

Until there isn’t.

You open one eye and hesitantly allow your vision to get used to the glaring gaze of the sun. Instead of the bright lights of heaven, you see trees, hubcaps of a car, and a very concerned-looking man staring from above. He bends over, gently taps your shoulder, and asks, “Miss, oh my God, are you okay?”

“I’m not dead?” you squeak, opening your other eye. There’s a loud ringing in your ears as your racing heartbeat struggles to calm itself. You pat every area of your body, shock etching on your face as you realize you’re very much not dead. “I’m alive!!” you loudly squeal.

How in the guardian of the gates’ name did this happen? How are you alive with barely a scratch on you? It’s impossible for a human to survive or prevent this type of accident-

Fortune by @kaaillustration

Color: Amber / #FF7E00

Amber is made from turpentine. It’s blended with the powders of the seashells and then mixed with dó paper (kind of Vietnamese paper) to create a sheet of paper for Dong Ho Painting, a Vietnamese folk woodcut painting. Because of turpentine and seashell, the paper has an amber sparkling background and it is ready to be printed by other nature colors like red gravels, burnt bamboo leaves, senna flowers, egg shells.

This is one painting in my series paintings about Vietnamese under French domination which is called Annamite series.

The man in this painting is God of Wealth. He is the gate guardian who brings fortune and luck and protects people from diseases and bad things in Vietnamese beliefs.

CONJURING THE BLACK HOUNDS

Black hounds are the guardians of the cemetery, the keepers of the gates and the denizens of the cross roads. Their flesh is desiccated and rotted, and the carry with them the stench of death and decay. The necromancer makes good use of them as servitors, to guard their items, ward off intruders or haunt those who’d oppose them.
Let only the initiated attempt this, should the novice not bring harm to themselves. Sources: Folklore of Cornwall (Tony, 2003), Mythology: Timeless Stories of Gods and Heroes (Hamilton, 1942), Dictionary of Northern Mythology (Simek, 1993), The Practice of Magical Evocation (Bardon, 1991), Fourth Book of Agrippa (1559), De Nigromancia (Bacon, 1988), Forbidden Rites (Kieckhefer, 1997), Crowley Goetia (Crowley, 1904)

Having abstained for three days from bathing and eating (to protect the magus from the hounds), with the third landing on the new moon; the necromancer will be ready to conjure the black hounds.
Let it be noted that once this spell is complete the first time, this abstinence will no longer be necessary, the hound will be bound to your service and thus can not harm you so long as you wield the blade (see below).

In a red pigment, and using a brush made of human hair, the magus writes these names on one side of a blade:
CERBERUS+FENRIR+GWYLLGI+
and upon the other side:
TE LIGO CANEM NIGRUM (I bind you, black hound)

Having done this, the magus takes a bone like the femur of a large beast or man, the magus writes:
ET REGNUM MORTUS VINCENT (may the kingdom of death come forth).

Having consecrated these items with their incantations and nine times having drawn the equal armed cross over the tools (an old sign, signifying the crossroads, made with the voorish sign in the left hand), they will be ready for the conjuration.

Taking these things ash of hound, war water and chalk down to a natural portal (being Crossroads, Cemeteries and Mausoleums), the necromancer can begin the summoning, but only should the time be between 12 AM and 4 PM, and no sun be seen.

A circle of of nine steps in diameter is drawn upon the floor, and within it they cast the Tridecagon.
To the west is drawn a circle of Five steps, and within it a triangle, with a point facing east. On the outer borders of the triangle, these names are written (clockwise): FENRIR+GWYLLGI+CERBERUS+ (with the + being located on each vertex, and the names on the sides).

Within the triangle, the magus pours ash of hound, hydrates it with war water (aligned with MARS, planetary ruler of war), and animates it with blood (Iron in the blood to further push a mars alignment and to symbolically give life to the hounds).

Retiring back to the Tridecagon, the necromancer takes good care to raise the circle well, that the hounds do not cause some great harm upon the self.

Taking up the bone scepter, the magus cries out thirteen times the first conjuration to the east:
“I summon, conjure and evoke thee O’ raging hounds of the underworld, and adjure thee to come quickly,
by the names of thy exalted and divine sires,
by whom you were conceived in the cold darkness of death and to whom you are bound to serve: FENRIR+GWYLLGI+CERBERUS+
to come forth and manifest thyself, To pact with me and obey my commands!

The magus sets the sceptre down in the middle of the circle, and walks around it thrice clockwise and finishing in the west, facing out.
The magus prays the second conjuration thrice:

“I conjure and adjure you,
dreadful hounds,
by the servitude you owe to the names of your sires,
from who’s seed you were born in the cold expanses of death with ne'er a tit to suck.
Come now savage and starved wolves on thy rotted paws and ancient bones,
rise from the ashes and blood of resurrection and up from the gaping maws of the earth.”

And when this is done, the magus crosses to the east and recites it thrice more. The magus will turn west again to see one, or perhaps even a pack of black hounds, in or around the circle of evocation.

The necromancer raises their blade and plunges it into the earth, just beyond the circle and asks:

“Would you, O’ Cŵn Annwn,
Speak, listen and obey,
And swear that
They who possess this blade
And know thy name,
May conjure you up from the gates of death?”

And the beast will take the blade by the handle and say:

“I swear on this blade
My servitude unto you
Who knows my name __
And holds this blade
If you swear
Your essence
To nourish me at every call
We have a deal”

And the magus must say:

“I swear”

And the hounds will dissipate. And should you strike the blade into the ground with the scepter as a hammer and call it’s name with every strike, so long as the sun has gone, they will come to you, and you will soon endure some great pains or heavy lethargy.

To treat this, cast the circles again, and after having written the name of the beast on a white cloth and wrapping it round the blade’s handle, the magus pours ash of hound, war water and then gives sacrifice of a old white hare into the evoking circle, whist saying: “__ , take this spirit to satiate your hunger, and drink deeply of it’s milk, that when you come to me, it shall be without harm”. The magus then ties the sullied cloth to the handle, to serve as a reminder of your payment.

Best of luck
-S.

The Three Ghosts of My Demise

When I leave this earth, maybe I will become a ghost.
Join the spirit world.
But what kind of ghost will I be?
I can see three.
The three ghosts of my demise.

My first ghost I will call
Edge of Darkness
He is a real nasty mother
Filled with hatred and loathing
Bitterness oozes from the smoke cloak that shrouds him
The black clouds of resentment forever hang over him
He wants to terrorise
Torture
Make them feel his eternal pain
He roams the night
Seeking revenge
He first arrives unannounced at my funeral
My cremation
His creation
Targeting the falsehoods in attendance
Once he has possessed them
He will then feed on their guilt
Gorged he escapes with the ash smoke of the furnace chimney
On his mission
His aim is suffering for all those who in life wronged him
Crawling inside their mind
Exposing their worst fears
Their greatest nightmares
Seeking the Karma in death that eluded him in life
He will haunt them
In every sense
Haunting
Taking them to the Edge of Darkness
There they are forever to stand staring into the abyss of his soul
His demons calling to them
Pulling them in
Into the darkness
His darkness
His demons
The demons they put there

My second ghost goes by the name of
Sorrow of Yesteryear
This ghost shuffles, head bowed
Chained to his ankle he drags the many heavy balls of regret
He weeps
Crocodile tears for those he wronged
but should have loved
He seeks a forgiveness that will never come
Now bound to the chains of eternal remorse
Wailing for all the things he could have done
But didn’t
Weeping for all the things he shouldn’t have done
But did
He will not terrorise them
But his eternal pity will engulf them
As he sucks out their hopes
Their dreams
To feed his sorrow
He is the son of grief
And by delivering to them more disappointment
Woeful
He survives
All purveying
His wails will grow louder in their head
Never to be silenced
Sorrowful are his tears
Sorrow of Yesteryear
His yesteryear
Their eternal sorrow
His morrow

My third ghost is a very different altogether
He goes by the name of
The Watchful Protector
He has a sadness for his existence at all
But hides it
He wanted to live
In flesh, not in spirit
Much left to see, to do, to touch, to feel
on Earth
Too soon no longer of his earth
But he knows his purpose
Accepts it, understands it
Rejoices in it
His purpose now is to watch over all those he loved
Offering unseen guidance
Protection
Almost a guardian angel
But he has no wings
He give them up at Heaven’s gates
Sacrificed angelic eternity
To return to watch over all of them
Be their protector
When life knocks them down, he will lift them up
From danger he will protect them
He is never seen
But always will be there
In their hearts he grows love
He breathes optimism into their soul
Gives them hope
Their joy sustaining his eternal spirit
Their happiness hiding his sadness
A sadness he will never let them see
Ever
Their joy this soul’s purpose
He is their Watchful Protector
He will see them prosper
In all things loving
All things worth living for
He is light
He is love

Which ghost will I be
I guess I will never see
Maybe at times
I’ll be all three
But I hope I am
The Watchful Protector

“Blue Ribbon”

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x OC x Reader

Summary: After a fatal bullet to the chest, Bucky finds himself face-to-face with a very familiar-looking guardian of the gates who will determine his afterlife fate.

Soundtrack:
“Your Ex-Lover is Dead” (Stars)
“The Funeral” (Band of Horses)

A/N: This one is for JinYi.

“Take him to the quinjet! BUCKY! Don’t close your eyes, stay with me!”

There was a clear sense of numbness, and his thoughts start to tumble back as if they’re in slow-motion movie of his life - the streets of Brooklyn, a smaller Steve, a blue ribbon, being drafted. Reality dawns as Bucky slowly looks down at his chest - he’s been shot.

This lasts for a few seconds as he attains his visual confirmation that he’s been shot, and the pain rolls in waves. Blood pumps out of the hole in his chest and the nausea starts.

The burning pain becomes overwhelming, and despite the screaming warnings, Bucky squeezes his eyes shut, allowing for the dark abyss to take him away.

- - -

His eyes rapidly blink until he gradually adjusts to the glaring white light and white surroundings. He’s no longer in a bloodstained stealth suit, only clad in white. Any emotional and physical pain he bore has seemingly dissipated.

“James Buchanan Barnes?”

A young woman holding a clipboard stands in front of him. She, too, is head to toe in an immaculate all-white ensemble, a blue ribbon in her hair the only item of color in the distance. There’s a sense of familiarity to her, but he can’t put his finger on it.

Her eyebrow scrunches and she glances at her clipboard again. “James?” she tries again.

“Sorry, I blanked out,” Bucky apologizes. “Could you tell me where I am?”

She knowingly smiles like she’s heard this question many times. “Some call it the pearly gates. Some call it limbo,” she calmly explains.
