the greatest robot on earth

Well, I didn’t get to touch my tablet at all this labor day weekend. I think a part of me has died.

In the small amount of down time I had between doing college stuff and getting dragged shopping, I doodled up 4 out of the 7 strongest robots from the Astro Boy story “The Greatest Robot on Earth” which is just AWESOME and is the basis for Naoki Urasawa’s amazing tribute, “Pluto”. Both of these are so highly recommended from me. Astro is the best.
I do plan on doing the other three as well as Pluto and *gasp* Bora, and if I have time ever again in my life, to make some prints of them! And! If I have MORE time, I’ll do a second set of prints with Naoki’s designs (both of these are in my style of course, even though there’s clearly the Tezuka influence)

Wow I talk a lot. I have a small diary/recap sort of thing explaining the lack of art coming up tho.

Ah Pluto, by a faraway volcano, where the earth splits open beneath a shimmering layer of mist and clouds…
you were smashed and scattered…
Gone forever…
You lived the life given you without hesitation, self-doubt, shame, or resentment…
You carried out your duty, and then you were gone…
Ah, Mont Blanc…
Ah, North #2…
Ah, Brando…
Ah, Gerhardt…
Ah Hercules…
Ah, Epsilon…
When will they sit in judgement of the humans who created temporary life, out of a limitless lust for power and control, and then destroyed it?

The other three, drawn during some downtime in my biotech class. I will draw Pluto and Bora after I draw what I NEED to draw since I finally found some time.

I will probably re-do Montblanc and maybe North No.2. I wasn’t feeling it today as much as when I started these, you know?
