the greatest photos i have ever seen

#BodegaStrike: On February 2, 2017, Yemeni business owners across New York closed 1,000 bodegas and grocery stores from 12:00pm to 8:00pm in response to the Trump administration’s “Muslim Ban” executive order. This shutdown was a public show of the vital role these grocers and their families play in New York’s economic and social fabric. The community organized a rally at Brooklyn Borough Hall in downtown Brooklyn to pray together and share stories of how the Muslim ban has affected their families.

This was one of the greatest demonstrations of solidarity, love and positivity that I have ever seen. The energy was electric and contagious, I found myself smiling uncontrollably and having so much fun. I hope these photos show that Yemeni Americans are peaceful loving people who deserve to be given a chance at life in this country.

rogelio de la vega is honestly the best male character ive ever seen on television

  • he doesnt give a shit about masculinity. moisturizing, avocado masks, etc.
  • the episode where he realizes how attractive rafael was, and he was so unapologetic about it.
  • he openly became best friends with his daughter’s lover, instead of trying to act like that stereotypical father thats mean to the man his daughter dates.
  • him renaming his grandson, matelio.
  • his obsession with twitter.
  • he puts his family first all the time, i literally want to cry, he’s such a good man.
  • he compliments people in the cutest way ever. :(
  • he loves shopping for clothes.
  • he knows the importance of lighting when it comes to photo taking.
  • ‘why are you so afraid of having your pelvis touch mine?’
  • his dedication to concealer is the greatest thing ive ever seen.
  • when he left the AC running for 30 minutes and explained by saying ‘i didnt want your makeup to run’ on jane’s wedding day, what a dad!
  • he owns up to his mistakes whenever he can. ie: when he told xo to get an abortion.
  • he knows damn well that he can dance.
  • HIS SKIN CARE DEDICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • when he payed for jane’s education and literally set up a fake scholarship so she wouldn’t find out that the money was coming from him, like come on…
  • him constantly calling michael is best friend :(
  • his moment of blatantly checking out rafael’s ass on the elevator one time after saying ‘i never realized how attractive you were until now’
  • again, he doesn’t give a shit about masculinity.

anonymous asked:

imagine this: matt meets the voltron team and notices that keith's there. he then proceeds to unsubtly comment on WHAT A COINCIDENCE IT IS (it must be fated eh wink nudge) that here he is, the wonderboy that hung around shiro / that shiro occasionally (read: often) namedropped during their journey to kerberos.

oh i like this!! i mean, the kerberos crew were all crammed together on this tiny ship for–six months, i think pidge said? and that’s a long time, so of course you start swapping stories and stuff, and since shiro knows about katie we can infer the holts must have talked about her a lot. i mean, shes a genius who can build tech out of spare parts that works even better than the garrison’s presumably multi-billion dollar equipment, so you know they mustve had a lot to talk about. shiro seems familiar with her family, and pidge mentions how close matt and sam always were with their crews, and yet…she doesnt seem to know much about shiro??

so i really do think shiro isnt close with his family at all. He and keith are the only ones who never mention missing their families or earth. and i mean, keith is an orphan alien so it makes sense a lot of his backstory is mysterious, and we at least see his dad and the shack as some semblance of home. but shiro? we get nothing. i have to wonder whats going on with him, because after being gone a year and thought dead, i would think he’d miss his family even more. or at least ask about what they did for his funeral or something. with pidge at least, you’d think hed divulge something about missing his family after the mission too, since she knows what he’s going through. but he seems??? really private and distant about it?? he even seems to think of sam holt as more of a father figure than his own, since the advice he gives pidge comes from sam instead of his own father (and this is before he realizes who pidge is)

even when he arrives back on earth, the only actual welcome home he gets is from keith, and in keith’s very own home no less. (theres also the fact that keith apparently has a change of clothes in shiro’s size waiting for him, which could imply that shiro either left them himself or keith stashed a dead man’s stuff away for a year just in case he magically showed up, but thats all so vague im gonna just leave it at that) but point is, i think shiro’s relationship with keith is the closest we see to him having any kind of home or family. (also, i think shiro’s homecoming at keith’s place kinda parallels when keith returns to the shack and his dad welcomes him back in bom. so i think the desert shack definitely equals home for keith, and by associating shiro with it the writers further establish that shiro very much does have a home with him)

so, anyway, in lieu of his family i could imagine shiro telling the holts all about keith. oh hes the greatest pilot we’ve ever seen, he broke all my records and you should see how good he is at close combat! kind of quiet and runs off on his own, but in the simulator he always puts his team first. A natural born leader who really cares about his crew. and shiro just like beams every time he talks about him, and by the time theyre past jupiter the holts are probably like if i have to hear one more word about keith kogane–

oh also! you know how pidge has that photo of when matt left? i like to think matt had a copy too that he kept back on the ship. and how sad would it be if shiro had one of him and keith before takeoff that was either left on the shuttle or confiscated along with his suit and stuff by the galra  but anyway ya i like the idea that shiro’s told matt about keith! he might have heard of him at least, being that keith was the top cadet back when matt and shiro were still at the garrison

On Acting, etc...

The above photo is my Mother’s headshot for a production she was in. It’s my favorite picture of her. We used it at her memorial.

Her name was Patricia. She was beautiful, funny, multi-talented, oh so heart breakingly talented. You’ve never heard of her, but you should have. I can’t begin to explain what a loss to the Acting world it was that she never made it to the screen, but she trod those boards. The greatest performance I have ever seen, in my life, was her as Big Mama in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. I’ve seen theater all over this country, done it, lived it, breathed it. Professionals and Amateurs alike, and no perfomance by anyone, anywhere,at any time, has ever come close.

She learned how to act as a child. In the small town she grew up in, there was one movie theater, and every weekend, she and her friends would go to see the show and then come home and act it for the rest of the week, until the next ones came along. She sang, she danced, she could break you with a look. Just a look. Didn’t matter how good or bad her scene partners were without her, she raised their game, every, single, time.

She lived a life I hope to write about someday. Her children, and her grandchildren have as well, and someday her great grandchildren will trod those boards too. The greatest dynasty you have never heard of. I miss her so, I could barely type this. (Edited for clarity, last paragraph)

If Naruto characters had Tumblr: Part 2

Part 2 of 2! What if various Naruto characters had Tumblr blogs? What would their usernames be, and what would they blog about; if at all? Part 1.

1. Naruto: Username - NineTailsOfRamen

Naruto would predominately blog about ramen. He would make sure to set up a queue to post or reblog a new photo every couple of hours with uplifting captions underneath them. He would also rave constantly about how everyone should eat at Ichiraku.

Post 15: Man this is making me suuuper hungry

Post 27: Ate this bad boy today!! Extra Chashu and naruto!! (that’s also my name heheh)

Sasuke would literally just post about his thoughts and feelings throughout the day. He would never reblog anything but rather upload his own photos of things like the sunrise or the sky during a thunderstorm. He has a feeling that all the lovely anon messages he’s getting are from Itachi but he can’t be sure.

Post 6: Actually ate breakfast today. That’s a new one. I haven’t been committed to eating breakfast in a long time. Had eggs; they were alright.

Post 21: Here’s a photo I took last night; managed to capture some lightning during the storm. I feel it reflects my personality pretty well.

Post 50: To the anon who keeps sending me nice things; who are you??? Are you Itachi?? It’s kinda creeping me out tbh

4. Shikamaru: Username - StitchedDream

Shikamaru would be on Tumblr quite a bit when he’s bored. He would reblog pictures of the sky and super comfortable looking bedrooms or beds. He keeps promising his followers he’ll upload a selfie of himself but he’s too lazy to do it.

Post 40: These clouds are me. Not even joking

Post 67: I kinda just laid down today and didn’t get up for like 4 hours. I didn’t even sleep.

Post 444: Kisame Senpai this shark looks SO COOL YOU ARE THE COOLEST

7. Rock Lee: Username - TheMostYouthful

Rock Lee obviously would post anything and everything to do with training and fitness. From reblogging fitness videos to uploading his own routine, he’s followed by heaps of people who look up to him. They get a bit weirded out when he posts a lot of close up photos of Gai, though.

8. Gaara: Username - RedCactusPanda

Gaara doesn’t like telling anyone he has a Tumblr. He prefers to stay anonymous but LOVES posting about cacti and succulents. He always asks bigger blogs questions about how to look after his own and posts photo of his own secret cacti garden.

BTS: NOW 3 Interview ~ Jin

Where do you want to go right now?

What are you looking forward to the most right now?
Success of BTS.

What are your five greatest interests right now?
A.R.M.Y., rice, chicken, meat, and guitar.

What was Chicago like?
Chicago pizza was delicious! And they had the largest steak I have I ever seen.

What did you like during your stay in Chicago?
It was really nice because I was able to appreciate the sceneries and atmosphere of the city. The food was good, but to me, that was just a nice extra. The sceneries were that good.

You had a total of six concepts in the photo book. Which concept or story did you think suited you the most?
AWAKEN. I think the heavy and formal styling really suits me.

Do you think you are a grown-up now?
Certainly, as the leader of the group, I experienced the world a little sooner than people my age, so I think I am a grown-up. I just act like a kid on purpose! I talk to my friends and they ask for my advice on life!

What was it like when you finally turned 20?
I felt a bit empty. I also wondered when did I become an adult…

What did you want to do the most when you become an adult?
I wanted to have serious conversation on topics of our society with my father.

You in your imagination as a little boy 10 years ago vs. You right now - Are you the same person?
I thought I would be thinking about getting married.

You released the cover song ‘Adult Child’ three years ago. Can you empathize with the lyrics?
I want to stay a child. Getting old is sad.

Is there something you have not tried but want to do someday?
I haven’t done acting in a while now. I want to start again.

What other people tell you the most these days.
Now I realize that you are a handsome guy.

What you need to hear right now.
I am happy that you are here.

For those who support you…
I don’t know how to repay you. It is such a blessing to have people supporting my dream. I become happier with more people sending me love. I really hope you know that I support your dreams too.

Your goal in 2016.
I want to be a person who is loved by many people. I will practice harder and try to bring joy to people.

Your definition of ‘dream.’
To imagine things that can happen? The great feeling you will have when you achieve the dreams is inexplainable.

After the interview…What are you going to do now?
I will go eat-

Rap Monster / Suga / J-Hope / Jimin / V / Jungkook

“Two brave souls, however, decided to use the opportunity to show Evans and Stan what it would be like if the characters they play on the big screen embraced a different side of themselves. And perhaps the best part about the photo is that while the actors seem surprised and amused, they certainly don’t disapprove.

While one fan dressed like Captain America and another cosplaying as Bucky Barnes embrace in a last-minute liplock, Stan looks like somebody just mooned him. Evans, meanwhile, has a supportive hand on Bucky and a mischievous grin on his face.

“BLESS THEM ALL OF THEM BLESS US ALL GOD BLESS AMERICA,” one fan tweeted in response to the photo, posting a .gif of people applauding. Another says: “Bless these fans, this is the best thing I’ve ever seen.”

Will this viral pic inspire Marvel to re-write the cinematic playbook and have Stan/Evans someday recreate on-screen the embrace of these pranksters? It seems unlikely — but at the very least, we may have just been blessed with the greatest moment in cosplay history.”

Beautiful Green Eyes

Pairing: Dean x reader.

Song: When You’re Gone - Avril Lavigne

Summary: Dean and the reader have been the best of friends ever since they were small - in fact, since around the time the Vietnam war began. However, in 1970, Dean decides he’ll fight for his country. The night before he leaves, the two of them confess their love for one another and spend the night together, if you catch my drift. Dean returns, alive, when the war ends, 5 years later, only to find the new figure in the reader’s life is 5 years old…

Words: 2860.

Warnings: conflict theme (but only one description of it), implication of unprotected sex, sex-based misogynistic slurs.

A/N: this is the oneshot I said I was working on! I have no idea whether it’s good or not though. This is for Madi, who had a little cry with me over this idea. Probably. Also, I stuck to the usual kid method… I use with a fan (do I even have fans? Can you call it that?) favourite, Ellen x

“Mommy?” Ellen tugged at the shirt of your pyjamas, her other hand occupied with dragging her scruffy teddy bear across the carpet, Winnie-the-Pooh style.

“Yes, baby? It’s time for sleep now, and I’ve already told you a story” you sighed, sitting yourself back down from the seat you had only just risen from. It was next to your 5 year old daughter Ellen’s bed, which he was currently in.

“Tell me about daddy” the young girl requested, now employing a quiet and timid voice.

“Okay… but then you’ll try and sleep. Promise?” you delivered a weak smile. The thought of Dean never failed to bring you to internal devastation, even though it had been 5 years since he’d been gone. You and Dean had slept together and confessed your love for one another the night before he left for Vietnam. Every day you faked a grin for your beautiful daughter that had come from that night, but in reality, you were convinced Dean was never going to return from combat. After all, you hadn’t even heard from him once. In fact, the only thing that did keep you sane was telling Ellen about him, after you’d managed to push the initial distress away for a few minutes.

“Promise" Ellen stated proudly.

For a moment, there was silence.

"Well… your daddy is very strong. Not just on the outside, but on the inside, too. The thing he cares about more than anything is looking after the people that matter to him, and making sure they’re safe.” you had barely said a word regarding Dean compared to what you wanted to say, yet your eyes became glazed over almost immediately. Your eyes were out of focus, staring into space.

“Your daddy is also very brave. He would make any sacrifice if it meant he could save someone, especially someone he loves. He is calm in the face of danger or strife.”

A pause.

“Daddy’s clever, too. He can always find a way out, or a way in, for that matter… he thinks quickly, and not everyone has that, you know, Ellen” you smiled a larger smile, now.

“He’s kind, and he’s funny, and he’s confident, and I’ve never met anyone with a bigger heart… but sometimes your daddy thinks he’s not good enough, and we have to show him that he is when he comes home. Don’t we, baby?” you reached out for your daughter’s hand and squeezed it encouragingly. Part of you hated to instil false hope into Ellen’s mind, but the other half wanted you both to believe that he would come back, now the war had recently come to an end. You had practically convinced yourself that you had lost him to the war, however, and deep down, you were certain he wasn’t ever going to show up at your door.

“When he comes back. Right.” Ellen sounded so genuine and enthusiastic that you could barely remain composed.

A reassuring smile from you.

“Mommy, tell me about how handsome daddy is” Ellen giggled.

“Why do you always like that part so much?” playfully, you gave her a gentle nudge.

“Because you get all blush-y” Ellen smiled.

You shook your head. “Alright, Ellie. Alright.”

You fished the picture you permanently kept in the pocket of whatever pair of trousers you were wearing out, and held it out to Ellen, offering it. Her petite, delicate hands received it gladly. She traced her fingers over it, paying attention to every detail as if she hadn’t memorised it over and over previously.

“Daddy is very handsome. He is very tall, and he has a lovely set of muscles, and his face is gorgeous - his eyes might just be some of the most mesmerising things I have ever seen. He has these beautiful green eyes. Just like you.” you grimace at the memory, appreciative of the fact that Ellen was entirely engrossed in the photograph.

“He’s got the greatest smile, too, you know. The greatest smile.”

You jumped at the sound of the doorbell. The darkness had set in a long while ago, so who could possibly be calling at this time?

Sliding the photo out of Ellen’s hands and placing it back in your pocket where it belonged, you stood.

“Ellie, you don’t panic, alright? It won’t be anyone dangerous. You just try and get to sleep” you urged, before rushing out of the room and padding down the stairs.

The doorbell rang once more.

“I’m coming!” you yelled slightly aggressively. Who did this person think they were, expecting an instant response at this time of night?

It was an unspoken rule that one was not to open the door after it got late, you knew, but you always unlocked it and pulled it anyway, half of you eternally hoping it would be-

The sound of Ellen’s tiny feet making their way down the stairs after you, and scurrying into the living room were blocked out. The whole world seemed to mute, for a moment.

It was him. It was him. It was him.

He was alive.

“y/n?” oh, God, that voice. The most heavenly, deep, gorgeous voice in the whole wide world.

Tears filled Dean’s eyes more rapidly than you had run to pick up Ellen from school the day the war had ended. “oh, y/n” he spoke your name again, just as beautifully as he had the first time, the last time, every time he’d ever uttered it.

The love of your life pulled you into the strongest, warmest embrace you had ever experienced. By this time, you had processed the situation enough to bury your head in his chest, releasing sobs you hadn’t been able to execute for a very long time.

Suddenly, all of the worry that you’d felt while waiting for the empty promise of a letter from Dean disappeared. The hurt you felt, and the hurt you knew Ellen felt, when you witnessed her classmates with their fathers dissolved. The endless struggle you’d endured to keep you and Ellen stable was spontaneously forgotten. All you had the capacity to feel was love, and relief, and more love.

You snapped out of your stupor once you heard Ellen cough a barely audible cough.

“One second” you muttered, not appearing to care that such meaningless words in the current context were the first ones you had said to Dean since he had returned.

“Ellie, someone very important is here. I think you’ll recognise him, but for now, we’ve got to talk by ourselves” you hurried about the room in search of some form of entertainment for her. “I know you came down because you wanted me to be safe, but you know I am, now. Just relax and read this book, honey.” you set a picture book down in her lap, and turned to leave…

Little did you know that Dean was behind the door, listening to every word that he couldn’t help but hear.

“Yes, Ellen?” you swivelled back around, but your brow was furrowed and your voice sounded taut and stressed, all of a sudden.

“I wanted to ask you before the doorbell rang…” she trailed off. “I don’t want you to talk about my daddy like you do just for me. Are you still in love with him?”

“Of course, Ellie. Always have, always will.” It was the most evident thing in the world to you, even after all that time.

With that, you made your way back to the hallway.

“Erm, sorry about that, I jus-”

“You’re married, y/n?” Dean interjected. From the way he sounded, it was as if you’d just slapped him.

“I’m not, no.” you clarified plainly.

“Well, you… you have someone, then?”

“Why would you… why would you think that, Dean?" you asked curiously. There was no ring on your finger, no other man stumbling into the hall…

"Because you have a small child, for God’s sake. Look, if I’m interrupting something…”

“You’re not interrupting anything. I promise.” you responded firmly.

“You don’t have to lie to me, y/n, I-” Dean raised his voice now, which caught you off guard and made you jolt a little.

You’d have to spell it out for him, in that case.

“She’s five, Dean!” you raised the volume even higher than he did.

Dean froze in his tracks, the pieces beginning to fit together. You could have gotten with someone else, he supposed… he couldn’t completely let himself believe his interpretation just yet.

“… She’s five.” Your voice was nearly at the level of a whisper, at this point. “And she… she has these beautiful green eyes…”

Gently, you swung the living room door open to reveal Ellen, green eyes and all. She failed to observe this progression, her head virtually stuck in the book.

Dean backed out into the corridor, stunned. “Oh, my God, y/n, I’m sorry. I am so, so, sorry. I must be the worst father in history, to her and to you.” he ran a hand over his face in surrender.

“Dean, it’s alright, you didn’t know, you didn’t know” you rubbed his shoulder in reassurance. “In fact, I don’t even expect you to- to want to live here with us now, she may be your biological child but you didn’t even have any knowledge of her until today.”

“y/n, I want to. I haven’t said a single word to her, but as soon as I saw her, I knew I loved her as much as I love you. And even if I didn’t, it’s my responsibility. My job. You can’t be expected to do this on your own any more. Not that you can’t handle it alone, I just don’t want you to have to.”

“If you’re… if you’re sure, then that would be amazing, but it’s a big decision… plus, I don’t want you to be deterred by the idea of living here… you don’t have to…” you stared at the floor, dreading the thought of Dean admitting that he no longer loved you.

“y/n” Dean inhaled after a short minute of silence. “every day, I got a new scar, it seemed, and so did the other soldiers. I saw endless people die, and it was worse than anything I’d ever seen, because it wasn’t monsters, whose nature is to kill, who were killing them. It was people. Every night, I’d lie in the dark and think to myself, ‘I’m gonna survive this. I’m gonna survive till the end so I can go back home and love y/n. I’m gonna kiss her every day and hold her and make her feel good and do all the things I should’ve done before I went into this damned war.’”

By the time Dean was finished, his hand was on the small of your back and his chest was inches away from yours and he was looking down at you like he’d never loved something or someone more.

“I love you, too, Dean” you hadn’t succeeded in not letting yourself cry. “I want you to stay.”

Then, Dean kissed you. He cupped your cheeks in his hands, pressed his body against yours. And kissed you.

The kiss tasted lightly of salt, but it didn’t matter to you. You barely noticed, because this was all you’d wanted for much longer than 5 years, and you weren’t going to let your own tears ruin it.

He pulled away, looked at your face, and kissed you again. And again. And again.

“Hey, uh… We might be making Ellie a little uncomfortable here” you giggled once he’d pulled away the fourth time. “You know what? I’m gonna… Go upstairs, and you can talk to your daughter for a minute.”

Dean smiled nervously.

“Don’t worry” you told him, placing your hands on his chest. “She already loves you. Trust me.”

Nodding slowly, Dean moved to sit down next to Ellen on the sofa. “What are you reading?” He asked, peering to look inside the book she held in her hands.

“It’s called 'the Three Little Pigs’. It’s where…” For a moment, you watched Dean nod, smile and remark at what Ellen was explaining, satisfied. You made your way up the stairs shortly afterwards, leaving the two of them alone.

“… Well, that sounds like an interesting story, sweetheart” Dean’s voice grew soft with love. He still wasn’t fully sure that his daughter knew she was sitting beside her father. Nonetheless, he didn’t seem to mind.

“Mommy says you always say that” Ellen admitted frankly.

“Say what?” Dean frowned, confused.

“'Sweetheart’” Ellen answered. “Mommy says it always makes her heart melt when you say it” she continued, looking slightly concerned.

“She does? Well I’d better go check if she’s okay then” he beamed, playing along. “Want me to take you to your room?”

“No, thanks. I can do it."

Dean stood up, walking to the door. He turned when he reached it.

"Goodnight, Ellen” he smiled fondly.

“'Night, daddy” Ellen replied, without a hint of hesistation.

Dean smiled even wider.

“Daddy?” Ellen spoke just after Dean has turned around once more.

“Yes?” He turned to face her again.

“Promise you’ll look after Mommy?”

“I promise, Ellie.” Dean had never been more sure of himself. “I promise.”

“So, have you had anyone… Helping out with Ellie in the past?” Dean lay adjacent to you, his shoes haphazardly kicked off his feet, and his shirt unbuttoned. You remained in your pyjamas, shivering a little due to your bare feet. Dean had snaked his arm around you and was holding you to the bundle of warmth that was his body.

“My mum comes round sometimes to help, but no one else. I mean, I could barely look at another man, let alone fancy him. It was just impossible. All I’d ever seen was you, and that was never going to change. No, is never going to change."

"I know what that feels like” Dean confessed, pulling you a little bit closer. “Not even friends, though?”

“Dean, this is a small town. When my friends - and everyone else - found out about the fact that I was pregnant, I lost the vast majority of them. It was 1970, not 1940, but, still, people thought it was outrageous… that I wasn’t married. That we hadn’t even been in a public relationship, yet I was having your baby.

They used to shout things to me when I was walking past them on the street. 'Where you going, y/n? Off to the whorehouse?’ You know, stuff like that.

God, half the town didn’t even believe you had gone to war” you scoffed. “They just thought you had wanted to leave me, so you disappeared from the town altogether.”

“You didn’t believe it, did you?” Dean inquired incredulously.

“Of course not…” You assured him. “But Ellen started to, at one point.”

“Crap, she did?"

You couldn’t help but want to laugh, despite the seriousness of the subject at hand. You’d missed his use of that word. "Oh, yeah. When she first went to school people asked her what her surname was, and she said 'it’s y/s/n, but one day it’ll be Winchester, because my daddy’s Dean Winchester and he’s away fighting right now. But he’s gonna come back.'

All the kids just told her what their mothers had said about our family. Which was that I was a whore, or whatever stupid sexist slur it was. They said that you weren’t coming back, and that I was lying so I wouldn’t seem like a slut…

She got over it, but she did lose faith for a while.”

“This is… This is all my fault” Dean reasoned. “I never should have left. I destroyed your reputation, your friendships, I missed out on 5 years of Ellen’s childhood, I forced you to bring her up alone…”

“Dean, by the time Ellen was conceived, you couldn’t have just pulled out of the war. So, it wasn’t your choice to make.
And, let me just remind you again that you didn’t know I was pregnant."

"Still, I should have thought about this before I-”

“Neither of us were thinking. And I’m glad we didn’t. That night was the best thing that ever happened to me. Not just because I finally knew you loved me and we had a…”

“Let’s just say a really good time” Dean turned to you and winked.

You chuckled. “A really good time, yeah. I mean, you gave me the best thing that ever happened to us two. And I don’t regret sleeping with you, or keeping her when she was born, or any of that. Even if it made things difficult, I know she should have existed and she should have been brought up this way.”

“You got it all figured out, don’t you?” Dean said after a minute, in between serious and playful.

“I had a lot of time to think about this” you shrugged.

“And I had a lot of time to think about all the positions in which we’re gonna cuddle” Dean hummed a small laugh, shifting round so he was on his side, facing you.

“Okay, tough guy” you teased. “I’ll be fine with all of them.”

I’ve wanted to go to SoWo so badly the past few years. Too bad it falls right in the middle of the uni semester. I’ve almost literally heard nothing but good things.

In fact, when that tumblr post came up this year, of a Genesis (I think) owner who had beer thrown at his car, I was genuinely astounded because that was the first negative comment i’ve ever heard of the event. All the footage and all the photos i’ve seen have shown the greatest atmosphere of any car event i’ve ever seen, despite it themed around the VAGinal (teehee) community.

I’m sure people that have been will attest to the fact that that’s literally a handful of bad eggs in the bunch, and you can be damn sure i’ll try and fly up to the states next year for it.

I’m back in Connecticut and I am starting to settle down from this entire experience. I’m still so young, but I know for a fact that in my music driven world, this was the most historical weekend that I will ever be a part of. I’m organizing the near eight hundred photos and videos on my phone that I took during the duration of this adventure and it’s soaking in. What I have experienced was truly priceless…I’ll have to refer back to this post once I get my monthly bank statement.

Being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the greatest honor that Green Day could receive in their career. I’ve never seen them (especially Tré) so emotional with an acceptance speech. Everything about these past four days was extraordinary. From something as immense as seeing the original handwritten lyrics to the first Green Day song I ever heard, to running around downtown Cleveland in the heavy-duty wind with my best friends. I finally got to meet friends face-to-face that I have known for years. It’s unfortunate that there simply wasn’t enough time to see everyone and do everything. There wasn’t a dull moment the entire time I was in the wonderful city of Cleveland.

I never really open up about what Green Day is to me. I get highly overwhelmed when it comes to talking about their music. When people ask me why I’m so consumed by them, I am unable to say anything of significance with just a short moment to gather my thoughts.

I feel as if now is a proper time to attempt to scratch the surface. Friends, family, acquaintances and even strangers who know of me are aware that I am a diehard Green Day girl. The night before the induction ceremony, I was lying in my hotel bed and reflecting on these past ten years that Green Day has been a part of my life. (Billie Joe somewhat went in the same direction with this on Instagram.) I realized that I am not a Green Day fan. I am a fan of cats and the color pink. To say I am a fan of Green Day doesn’t suffice. That is because I am everything that Green Day embodies.

When you discover, connect, and follow something so immensely starting at the impressionable age of nine, it changes the entire direction of your life. Green Day has made more of an impact on the young woman I turned out to be than anyone or anything else. I am honestly scared of who I would be if I had not discovered Green Day and punk rock.

For the past ten years, Billie Joe in specific has been a perfect balance of my life coach and therapist.

A few main concepts he has instilled in me:

• Don’t allow anyone to validate what you think and how you feel. There is no such thing as feeling too much, even if you’re almost at the point of psychosis. There is nothing wrong with your emotional intensity, as long as you channel it in a healthy manner. There is also nothing wrong with occasionally loosing your mind.
• It’s okay to march to the beat of your own drum. In fact, it’s encouraged.
• Always question what you’re being told in school, by your parents, by the media, by the police. If there is even the slightest doubt in your heart that something is ethically wrong, it probably is.
• Don’t be blind to everything that’s going on in this world, no matter how stomach-churning it may be.
• You have the power to commence change. Don’t believe that you’re too young and irrelevant to begin some type of revolution. Make your voice heard, even if you have to scream at the top of your lungs.
• If you have to sever ties you never thought you would in order to grow, do it. Trust your gut, follow your heart and do what’s best for your future.

Nearly everything about me is traced back to this band. They are the foundation of what makes me, Bethany. From my political views, to how I choose to conduct myself, to the people I surround myself with.

Green Day’s ground breaking success, musical greatness and influence on upcoming musical generations is what got them rightfully inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The drastic impact they have made on people’s lives is what I believe makes them most deserving of this honorable induction.

I am currently full of nothing but life, love, and gratitude.

“Better thank your lucky stars.”

Hihihi! Your peter pan louis is actually the most amazing beautiful thing I have ever seen. My two greatest loves combined with such incredible drawing talent is just TT u TT I am studying your WIP posts like mad to learn from you, haha. I was wondering, how do you make such a realistic skin texture??

Thank you so much! Peter Pan is my absolute fave, it was only a matter of time before I drew Louis as Pan :)

The skin texture is actually a photo texture that I got from deviantart

Here’s this to give you a little perspective of what it looks like before the texture is added:

And here it is with the texture over it:

To achieve this, I just desaturated the image and adjusted the levels so that it was darker, then set the blend mode to “overlay” at 45%:

So when you zoom out the texture gives the slight effect of a skin texture! I think the texture also helps make the painting look a little less computer generated and more realistic.

Thanks again for the sweet comments! xx
