A copy of the George Peabody’s letter and donation of 150,000 pounds to start the Peabody Trust in London in 1862. The letter outlines George Peabody’s previous donations and his intention to make a Trust for the Poor of London.     Also included is a reply from Trustees of the newly founded Peabody Trust. The letters are ceremonial calligraphed.

Happy Spring!  Enjoy this brief tour of garden and flower books from the Peabody Library. This collection of illustrations was on display at the 2011 Flower Mart! All the beauty of the natural world with none of the allergies! Included in this set are illustrations by Robert John Thornton, Mademoiselle Marie Sybille de Merial, and two 18th century block prints of the Imperial Chinese garden at ge ho Euhl in Tartary.
