How much independence?

(November 2011)

(August 2013)

In my opinion, when One Direction (usually Liam) have spoken about control, they aren’t talking about public actions, promotional strategies, and publicity. They are speaking about artistic control and the creative process—songwriting, production—their sound. Did they have more and more writing and involvement with each of their albums? Yes. And it’s extremely important to them. They didn’t get to choose their singles, though. (Consider, too, did they choose their merch? Were they eager to release yet anotherwas it the fourth??—perfume? Or a 1D make-up line? No.)

Louis Tomlinson Talks Performing 'Back to You' at the TCAs & Details 'Honest and Conversational' Solo Album

The last time Louis Tomlinson graced the Teen Choice Awards stage, he was accompanied by his then-bandmates of One Direction to perform their high-energy hit “Best Song Ever” in 2013. Four years later, Tomlinson is returning to the awards show to perform, but this time, his co-performer is Bebe Rexha.

The pair will be performing their new collaboration, “Back to You,” which already has more than 50 million Spotify streams since its July 21 release. Although the track has only been out for a few weeks, this marks Tomlinson and Rexha’s second televised performance of “Back to You,” as they first took it to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on Aug. 4 – which Tomlinson admits he was actually more nervous for than the TCAs.

“To a certain degree, it makes it easier with having an audience there. It’s better to have more faces and more atmosphere, definitely,” he tells Billboard just after wrapping rehearsals. “I was a little nervous for Jimmy Fallon, but I was happy with the performance so I feel like I’m in a good place. I think this will probably be a better performance for both of us.”

Tomlinson is excited for fans to see the visual content he’s prepared for this performance, and with Bebe sounding “amazing, obviously,” in rehearsals, he feels they’ll be taking it to another level from their Fallon appearance. It’s clear that Tomlinson is proud of his latest release, so Billboard wanted to hear a little more about the success of the single and what else the singer has coming ahead of his big TCA solo debut. Check out our interview below.

Simone Biles (b. 1997) is currently the most decorated American gymnast. She set a national record at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, winning four gold medals, the most a female gymnast has won in a single game.

She has a total of nineteen Olympic and World Championship medals, fourteen of them gold. She has been the world all-around champion on three consecutive years, and the US national all-around champion four times, from 2013 to 2016.

The men of figure skating: heading into the 2017-2018 season

Once upon a time, in a frosty February day in 2010, Evgeni Plushenko was standing unimpressed on the second step of the podium. He had come to win his second consecutive Olympic gold and become the first figure skater to do so since Dick Button. But as he was standing on the second step of the podium, an orange bro whose name was Evan came and sh00k his hand and climbed on the highest step. Little did the orange bro know that his stunt at that competition (not attempting any quads at all due to a stress fracture sustained in the previous season) would give birth to what we call today the quad generation. Evgeni would have probably sold his soul to Putin the devil just so he could finally play with the kids he’s been looking for all his life. So here we are in the eve of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, the top 6 men can execute at least two different types of quads and Yuzuru Hanyu will probably never retire unless he lands the 4A in competition, the only quad (4 and a half revolutions) that has never been landed before and will probably never continue to be landed on a regular basis due to the difficulty and increased injury risk. Unlike the ladies field, the men have the “big 6″ who are very likely to lock the first 6 positions at the Olympics and then there’s the rest. I will focus on these 6 skaters under the cut and make a list of other skaters to look out for because ice is slippery and you never know.

family member: hey so what are you thankful for?

me: One Direction (commonly abbreviated as 1D) are an English-Irish pop boy band based in London, composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik until the latter’s departure on 25 March 2015. The group signed with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Records after forming and finishing third in the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor in 2010. Propelled to international success by social media, One Direction’s five albums, Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014), and Made in the A.M. (2015), topped charts in most major markets, and generated hit singles including “What Makes You Beautiful”, “Live While We’re Young”, “Best Song Ever”, “Story of My Life”, and “Drag Me Down”.
