the fact that changed everything

this shot of the joker pulling up his pants leg seems to imply that the white part of his feet is actually just bare skin, not fabric spats over a pair of dress shoes, as i had always assumed?? which means that the animated series joker has actually been wearing, like, kitten heeled pumps this entire time

“Yoongi leans on the wall by the window, head turned to gaze out. His jaw is a sharp line, the tendons in his neck apparent. Strands of messy blond hair fall into his lidded eyes. He brings the cigarette to his lips and inhales. His eyes drift shut, lashes playing across smooth skin, and he exhales. Smoke curls around his lips and dances among flecks of dust in the air, catching the sunlight that bathes him. Shadows move across his face but the light brushes the edges of his body like a halo.

Yoongi is so beautiful it hurts.”

  • there are voices approaching the cabin, so with a quiet question, neil takes andrew’s hand and leads him to the elevators, running to evade the valet
  • he chases them, no doubt on orders by riko, through the halls and down elevators
  • neil feels lighter in a way he’s recognizing only proximity to andrew makes him feel
  • he tightens his grip on andrew’s hand as they make their way through the ship’s incinerators and when andrew glances back he looks years younger than usual
  • somehow, they make their way to the cargo, and neil is done with running. all of his life, he’s been running, and even though it’s different with andrew by his side, it’s time to stop, just for a while
  • he sees andrew’s eyes catch on a car, one more expensive than andrew would probably ever be able to afford, so neil slides into the back of it with as much pomp and circumstance as he can muster. it’s the closest thing he can do to granting andrew permission to get into the car
  • andrew looks around, as if checking they haven’t been followed, then seems to concede that the back of a car isn’t a bad place to hide for a short while, and he climbs in next to neil
  • the silence isn’t tense, but it’s heavy, and neil doesn’t want to waste a second with andrew if they’re numbered
  • “tell me about your family,” he says, because they’re the only thing he really knows about andrew, and he doesn’t know enough
  • andrew doesn’t seem offended by the question, but he gives neil a considering look nonetheless. “what will you give me for it?”
  • “are we doing a truth for a truth again?” neil says, the hint of a smile on his lips. “anything you ask.”

Okay (Jason ToddxReader)

Requested: No
Word Count: 959
Summary: Jason comes in from a rough night of patrol for you to clean him up.

Warning! Blood and gore mentioned!

The sound of a falling chair snapped you out of you light sleep. You glanced at the digital clock on your nightstand, it was 4am. You relaxed slightly as you realized Jason hadn’t come home yet, but you were still on alert as you crawled out of bed and slipped your favorite silk robe onto your shoulders. While normally, you wore at least one of Jason’s t-shirts to bed, this night it was hot and you wore only your underwear beneath the robe. You armed yourself with the baseball bat you kept by your nightstand and made your way into the kitchen area.

Jay?” you called out softly as you left the bedroom.

“Hey, baby girl, I didn’t mean to wake you,” he spoke up. His voice was thick with pain. You frowned and switched on the light. Sitting in the floor in a puddle of blood was one Jason Todd. You gasped and let your eyes search him over. You grabbed the closest first aide kit of the seven you had stashed around the apartment. You dropped to your knees next to hi.

“I’m ok, doll, go back to sleep,” he slurred. You simply shook your head and pulled his helmet from his head. His face was as perfect as ever, however there was a small cut that bled from his bottom lip. You made a mental note to come back and clean it up, but moved on to locate his more severe injuries.

You peeled off his brown leather jacket and found a bullet wound in his right shoulder. Upon further inspection, you found another would in his left thigh. You cursed softly to yourself as you began cutting away the fabric of his uniform.

I’m okay,” he repeated for the millionth time. You chose to just ignore his new chant and found the exit wounds on both shots. You sighed in relief because, while you had more stitching to do, you didn’t have to dig out any bullets. You began stitching him with practiced expertise. You placed a bandage over each wound once it was cleaned and sutured.

“I’m okay,” he chanted as his head leaned against the floor.

Stop telling me you’re okay, Jason,” you finally snapped at him. “You’re bleeding out on our kitchen floor,” you bit back angrily. You took a calming breath before going back to work. You could feel his eyes trying to focus on you.

You’re so beautiful,” he grinned goofily. You narrowed your eyes at him but continued to patch his remaining minor injuries. Once you were satisfied with your work, you managed to pull the now half naked man into the bathroom. You fully removed the remaining scraps of his clothing and began to gently clean the blood and dirt from his skin. He hummed softly in his blood-loss haze as your fingers spread through his hair.

“I love you, sunshine,” he mumbled in his half conscious state. You sighed as you gave him another look over. He was completely nude and covered in more scars than she ever cared to count. He had bandaged scattered across his body and fresh bruises along with faded yellow ones.

“I love you, too, Jay,” you admitted. It was the truth, you were an utter fool for the man in front of you. Once you deemed him clean enough, you helped him pull on fresh boxers and helped him into their shared bed.

Stay with me,” he requested weakly, he was beyond exhausted at this point.

Until forever ends, Jay,” you answered as you sat by his side. You brushed your fingers through his dark messy hair with it’s single white streak. You hummed softly as you did everything you knew to soothe Jason to sleep.

Once he was out soundly, you stood and kissed his forehead gently. You made your way back to your dining room area and frowned. It was a complete disaster area. It was the worst state you’d see it in, but you would once again be scrubbing blood from the tile grout.

You started with the first aid kit. You packed the kit, making sure everything was organized the way it was before. As soon as it was neat, you put it back in it’s place in the kitchen. You threw out the empty packages and soiled gauzes. You turned on the tap and started filling the mop bucket with hot, soapy water. You grabbed a fresh sponge and settled on your knees with the mess before you.

You scrubbed for a total of three hours until the dining room was entirely spotless and disinfected. It was when you were putting away the cleaning supplies that you realized you had fresh blood stains on your favorite silk robe and all over your exposed skin. You made your way to the bathroom, exhaustion from the adrenaline wearing off setting in. There were blood stains here and there in the bathroom. You cleaned them up quickly before starting the shower.

You watched as the blood ran off of your body and down the drain. It was becoming a common sight in your life and it almost bothered you that it didn’t bother you anymore. It was always so much blood. You couldn’t help but consider for a brief moment if this was really what you wanted for your life. You wondered what your life would have become if Jason had never made his place in it. You shook your head vigorously, water pouring over your face.

You loved Jason. No amount of blood or bullet wounds would change the fact that he was everything you wanted. He was worth the blood stained robes and the bright red that washed down the drain. He would always be worth it.

Buddhism: The Hard Questions

  • So, if Buddhism teaches us that the key to enlightenment is the cessation of desire and full acceptance of inevitable change including the fact that everything we hold dear will be taken from us then is this not the same as saying the key is not to want anything and not to care what happens?
  • Is the Buddhist path a path to happiness or just numbness?
  • Is the Buddhist path something that can be achieved by regular people or is it just another one of those impossible religious standards that nobody can possibly meet except the rare saint?
  • How can the realization that all will be lost possibly make anybody happy much less enlightened?
  • Is enlightenment any more real than heaven or hell?
  • Why would anybody want to live without desires? Isn’t love a desire?
  • Does acceptance that we are going to lose everything make these losses less painful? How would this lessen my pain if my beloved dog was run over?
  • We all know we are going to die. Everybody dies. We have no choice but to accept this fact but does this acceptance in any way make death less frightening? According to Buddhism, it should but it doesn’t does it?
  • Where is the comfort in Buddhism? At least the Abrahamic religions hold out the remote possibility of immortality. Isn’t this far more comforting?
  • If Buddhism is a peaceful religion then why were the Buddhist nations of  China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and others so militant historically?
  • Why do Buddhists put little kids into monasteries before they even have a basic understanding of the world much less Buddhism?
  • Aren’t Buddhist monks living useless and selfish lives by living on charity so they can reach enlightenment?
  • If Buddhism is non-materialistic then why are people in Buddhist countries like China, Japan, and South Korea so materialistic?
  • Isn’t reincarnation just a way of keeping the poor people in their place by making them focus on the next world just like Christianity does?
  • Didn’t the Buddha abandon his family including his newborn son and leave his elderly father alone to eventually lose his kingdom?
  • Didn’t the Buddha refuse to ordain women at first? Aren’t women still second class citizens in most Buddhist traditions?
  • If the Buddha was just a teacher then why are there so many miracle stories associated with him? Why do people pray to his idols?
  • How is just sitting quietly going to accomplish anything? In fact isn’t it true that most of the world’s Buddhists don’t meditate?
  • Isn’t possible that the Buddha only wanted people to be compassionate and kind and the rest of the stuff is just window dressing?
  • Isn’t it true that the discourses attributed to the Buddha are often vague and even contradictory? Example: the Buddha instructs us not to believe something just because he or another teacher says it but in another discourse identifies doubt as a hindrance to the attainment of enlightenment. Is this correct?
  • Isn’t it true that Buddhism romanticizes poverty? How is this a good thing?

fun Falsettos theory about The Cube to cry about

What if The Cube represented the tight knit family?

In the beginning it started out intact. As the show progressed and we learn about Marvin, the cast kept taking pieces out of it and rearranging it, representing the fact that this family was changing and being torn apart by everything.

At the opening of act 2 the blocks were all assembled, then as Marvin sings “it’s about time” they collapsed and the cast tried to fix them so they would be comfortable sitting around the blocks. Maybe this represents that the family doesn’t have to be perfect, that everyone had to make their own little tweaks in order for it to work out for everyone. That the family needed to experience breaking before it could be “fixed”.

Then as Whizzer dies, he turns his back on the audience and walks toward the back of the stage as two parts of the cube come together and close in front of him, forming the same cube from the beginning of the show. Mendel and Jason later take out a single block which becomes Whizzer’s headstone.

So now we have the same cube, but with a single piece missing. Whizzer’s death brought the family together; Trina and Marvin, Marvin and Mendel, Charlotte and Cordelia with the rest of the family. They were finally able to support and love each other unconditionally, but at the price of Whizzer. Most importantly, they all felt the loss. Every person mourned Whizzer’s death, and this tight-knit family was essentially brought together through the loss of a very important person in that family.

Whizzer is the reason everyone became so close, the reason The Cube was a cube again by the end of the show, BUT ALSO the reason why the last time you see the cube it’s missing a single piece. Whizzer is that piece that everyone lost that day. Although the family is together they will never be complete.

Babygirl - Seokjin Smut (Rated M)

Anonymous said: Hello! Can I get a Jin smut, where you get kinda lonely as he always spends time with your 2 year old daughter, and he talks about her all the time. You don’t say anything, bc you don’t want to sound rude. You start to get insecure, bc you and Jin haven’t been intimate since her birth. One day, Jin comes home early from practice (the daughter is at play group idk XD) and sees you crying. You open up about your insecurities adn he reminds you who his babygirl is heheheheeee… Thank you!

oh shit. i don’t know how this is gonna turn out. im nervous. oh god. this is gonna be under a read more because its long oops

warning: smut. smut. lil fluff. smut.

“Gah, isn’t she adorable?”

Jin was sitting on the floor across from your two year old, handing her different toys that she would pick up and either chew on, throw, or hand them back to her daddy. Her little hands would grasp onto Jin’s fingers and she would try to pull Seokjin towards the princess barbie castle you had bought her for Christmas.

“Jinhee - hey, no, don’t put that in your mouth.” Jin said, gently taking the small plastic puzzle piece from his daughters hands. “You’re such a handful, but also such a cutie!” He’d say, hoisting the child up and tickling her so she giggled with happiness.

You stood in the doorway, just observing your husband play with your daughter and her barbies. It was heart warming - and sweet, and adorable and everything in between. Although you didn’t want to admit it, though, its as if things between you and Jin had completely fizzled out.

After having Jinhee - who was undoubtedly the light of your life - you felt unattractive, bored, and stressed. Life as a mom was everything you thought it would be: lots of happiness, laughter and admittedly, stress. But you never thought it would put a dent in yours and Jin’s intimacy. But instead of a dent, it’s as if it’s crashed completely and is unfix-able.

The next few days were the same. Jin got the baby up, dressed her for her play group, and packed a small bag to take with her for when her grandma picked her up later that day. You just sat in bed the entire time, playing with your phone. Seokjin was a good husband. He got your little girl up and ready for her group, and offered to do everything he possibly could when he was able. You almost felt like Jin would rather spend time with Jinhee than you.

The thought upset you so much that, when Jin came in carrying Jinhee to come say goodbye, you kissed your baby girl and hugged her tightly, but when Jin leaned forward to kiss you goodbye, you turned your head so his lips hit your cheek. He pulled back with a hurt look on his face, as if you had just betrayed him. Seokjin didn’t say anything though, and just picked Jinhee back up and walked out the door.

That Slow Fic Writer Feel When

You’ve been writing a fanfic for so long but never uploaded even a chapter, and then a major part of the canon changes and messes with your story and you’re in a kind of limbo of “do I rewrite large chunks of this so it makes sense now” and “do I upload this when it’s eventually finished and just hope that people ignore the fact that everything has changed since the point at which this story takes place and hope that I can explain it all in an author’s note”

Usually in the Star Wars world, one of the main characters will go on their own journey to train and go through self-discovery. Then two others, will usually fall in love.

I think this time will be really different.

I think Rian is about to turn “traditional” Star Wars on its head… and I CANNOT WAIT!

I do think there will be a love story starting in The Last Jedi, however, I don’t think it’ll be the only one.

1. I think Finn has the potential to fall in love with Poe or Rose. Not sure what way they’ll go with that yet. Personally, would love the idea of Poe and Finn. But who knows what type of journey he and Rose will have, so definitely open to that. No I personally don’t think Rey and Finn will fall in love. They became good friends, and I love that. Just like Han and Luke did. Friendships can be very powerful, and their friendship is. To both of them, they were each other’s first friend, so that in itself is powerful. It showed them, they aren’t alone in this big Galaxy.

2. The main difference is that it isn’t just Rey’s story of self-discovery. Whether people want to admit it or not, it’s Kylo’s story as well. And their connection to one another. Which I believe to be HUGELY IMPORTANT to the saga. Through each other, they’ll finally bring a balance we’ve never seen before to the Force. It’ll be a new type of Jedi, that Luke, Rey and Kylo/Ben will bring. Will Rey and Kylo be romantic? We don’t know, but I for one hope so. We already know he has compassion for her and Rey has forgiveness in her heart. But whether they have romantic love or not, their connection will be something we’ve never seen yet. It’ll change everything. Also, the fact he comes from a Skywalker and she hopefully (I want) is a Kenobi, I think the two coming together is a beautiful set up for fate. It wouldn’t be a story about a Skywalker if we didn’t truly have a Kenobi, which we’ve seen in every addition thus far. Their lives (Anakin and Obi Wan) are as intertwined as Rey and Kylos.

We’ll let destiny take over from here.

Children [in past ages] existed solely to inherit a man’s trade, his moral code and his property. This was taken for granted among the aristocracy, but merchants, craftsmen and peasants also bought into the idea, so it became the norm at every level of society. That’s all gone now: I work for someone else, I rent my apartment from someone else, there’s nothing for my son to inherit. I have no craft to teach him, I haven’t a clue what he might do when he’s older. By the time he grows up, the rules I lived by will have no value—he will live in another universe. If a man accepts the fact that everything must change, then he accepts that life is reduced to nothing more than the sum of his own experience; past and future generations mean nothing to him. That’s how we live now.

— Michel Houellebecq, The Elementary Particles

Things I Dislike About Studyblr

I am a member of the studyblr community. So I obviously think it’s a positive enough experience to remain in the community. But here are a few things I personally don’t like about it that I think need to be discussed more often.

  • Studyspo overload. This particular point I’ve actually discussed plenty. So much in the past. But I don’t think it can ever be said enough. Studyblr should not be about studyspo. For many reasons. It makes the community about aesthetic rather than education and learning. And it’s typically classist; not everyone can afford pretty stationery. Among other reasons, but those two are up there. And I know that’s not going to change the fact that dashboards will always be clogged with studyspo.
  • The “everything is rainbows and butterflies” attitude. That’s not how it actually is to be a student. And I think we all know that in our own ways. The most successful students don’t thrive off of purely good vibes and positive thoughts. Sure, those things make it more bearable, and that’s important in its own right. But success is made through hard work, and oftentimes, failure. Shoving those real, negative thoughts and experiences aside for sugar-coated motivational quotes and pretty pens gives an unrealistic expectation of what it’s like to be a good student.
  • Click bait study tip posts. These really grind my gears. Posts that have titles involving buzz words such as “4.0″, “Straight-A”, or “Best Students”. Frankly, a lot of those posts have the most basic advice out there. The same advice over and over again that I’ve seen in so many posts. Advice that seems reasonable but, in my experience, don’t actually fit what real students who get 4.0s do. Or at least skip over the actual reasons they get those 4.0s (which doesn’t boil down to a list of quick tips, but is, rather, a type of mindset or approach to studying).
  • Original studyblr blogs are hard to find. I like a decent dose of studyspo like anyone else, but at some point, following studyblrs means getting the same material over and over again. Personally, I’m much more interested in hearing about others’ academic journey and seeing original posts. To each their own, but I think the real experience of being a student is lost amongst a dash filled with pictures of pretty notes.
  • How afraid studyblrs seem to engage in academic discussion and constructive criticism. This relates to my second point. People here are nice. Which is great. But at the same time, it seems to discourage any type of discussion that might run close to offending anyone through disagreement. In academia, people disagree. And that’s okay! We can still have conversations about these things without the intent being to personally offend anyone. If we just assume that everything any studyblr says is correct… We’re going down a slippery slope of blissful, self-imposed ignorance. And, frankly, a lot of you studyblrs are young, impressionable high schoolers. You should learn now to question what you read. Don’t take peoples’ word just because they seem reliable. Myself included.

I hope this starts some good discussion. If you disagree, feel free to add your own commentary. This isn’t about the “right” or “wrong” way to be a studyblr. It’s about encouraging discourse.

Everyone has an opinion. You should be allowed to defend it. And even more importantly, you should be allowed to change it without the shame of being “wrong”. That’s what learning is all about.

The greatest warrior has nothing to do with war. He has nothing to do with fighting others. He has something to do inside himself. One has to be a warrior because one has to be very alert just like a warrior. One has to be very watchful, very meditative, because if one is moving in the darkest continent in existence…

There are all kinds of pitfalls, all possibilities of going astray and there are all kinds of inner enemies. They have not to be killed or destroyed; they have to be transformed, they have to be converted into friends. Anger has to be transformed into compassion, lust has to be transformed into love, and so on, so forth.

That’s how, in Japan, the whole world of the samurai, the warrior, came out of meditation and all kinds of martial arts became paths towards inner peace. Swordsmanship became one of the most meditative things in Japan. Nobody can imagine what meditation has to do with a sword, but they developed swordsmanship in Japan. You learn it in the temple of Zen; it is a method of meditation. You are fighting with swords—you have to be very alert; otherwise you are gone. In such situations, you cannot afford to be sleepy.

Swordsmanship has been used to develop that quality of awareness, and in the same way, the other martial arts—aikido, jujitsu, karate. All these are arts of the warrior, but the Japanese have transformed them for the war that you are going to fight inside yourself with the darkness, with your own ego, with all that is ugly in you.

It seems strange, but Japan has done many really strange things. From tea drinking to swordsmanship, everything has been changed into meditation. In fact the whole of life can be transformed into meditation, because meditation simply means becoming more aware. So go inwards and be more aware. One day victory is yours—that is absolutely certain. You just have to fulfill the requirement: you have to be totally aware.

Breaking The Atmosphere

“What do you mean, you’re taking Theodosia Burr?” Alex asked with a chill.

“Pops, I find her to be quite charming. I would like to take her.” Charming? If she’s anything like her father than that’s a fat load of crap. You tried to convince yourself of that, it didn’t work. Alex was about to say something, he looked very against this whole thing. But Eliza nudged him with her elbow and cleared her throat.

“Of course you can take Theodosia, my son.” She smiled.

“Thank you, mom.” For a second, Philip looked over at you. Every once in a while you’d think you’d see it. Your Sunshine, not this dark cloud trying to hide him. Something sparked in his eyes for that single second. Was it regret? Was it longing? Was it remembrance? Was it an apology? You couldn’t tell, he built a wall between you.

‘In this same interlude it doth befall

That I, one Snout by name, present a wall.

And such a wall, as I would have you think,

That had in it a crannied hole, or chink,

Through which the lovers, Pyramus and Thisbe,

Did whisper often very secretly.

This loam, this roughcast, and this stone doth show

That I am that same wall. The truth is so.

And this the cranny is, right and sinister,

Through which the fearful lovers are to whisper.’

That should’ve been a passage he marked. As quick as the second had come, it was gone once again. Philip tightened his lips and walked away, the same way he always did.

“You’re going to let our son take my rival’s daughter to a party? Are you crazy, Betsy?” Alex asked. Eliza shook her head.

“Trust me, love. A mother knows what she’s doing.” She assured, winking at you after she finished her sentence. What’s that supposed to mean?

A few days passed and you were left to your same routine. You were dusting off the shelves in Alex’s study when you heard someone come in. You looked over to see Lafayette leaning against one of the cleaned shelves.

“Oh, hey Laf. Did you need something?” You asked. He tapped his finger against his chin and took a step forward.

“Yes actually, I do have a small favor to ask of you Miss Y/N.”

“You can just call me Y/N or Titania like Alex does, but sure, what’s the favor?”

“I was invited to a party by a friend of mine. I would like to ask you to allow me the pleasure of escorting you there.” WHAT?!

“Um, wait what? A party? Oh no, no, no, no! I’ve never been to one before! Besides, why would you need me to go?” You asked nervously.

“Well you see, I am not exactly the best dancer and every time I try to go to a gathering by myself a madam will ask me to dance. I just cannot find it in my heart to say no to them, it seems rude but I always accidentally step on their feet…” His face flushed a bit. Fucking Marie Antoinette, this is all your fault! “If I take you with me, I believe I will be asked to dance far less.” Honestly, I should’ve expected that this was the reason. Lafayette was known for being extremely awkward in many situations.

“I mean; alright I guess? As long as I don’t have to talk to many people because honestly I do not know the proper etiquette for these things…” Lafayette smiled at your answer.

“Merci, we can both not know the proper etiquette together, how does that sound?” He asked humorously, you chuckled.

“Sounds like a plan!” You laughed.

You told Eliza about what Lafayette suggested and she seemed very pleased that you said yes. She even said she would help you get ready, of course Angie decided she would as well. When the day came, Eliza summoned you to her room and she pulled out this very elegant blue dress.

“What’s this?” You asked.

“Well, as much as I love the dress Hercules gave you, it simply is not ball appropriate. So, you shall wear this.” She informed. Angie, who was sitting on the bed called out excitedly.

“That’s the dress Mama says she fell in love with Daddy in!” You looked at the beautiful blue color.

“Eliza…this is too much, you’re so sweet to me!” She brushed off the comment.

“Nonsense! I would do anything for my girls and you are certainly no exception! Now, come over here! We are wasting precious time!” You went over and she immediately started to work on you.

“Mama, how did you and Daddy fall in love exactly?” Angie asked curiously. Ohhh, I’ve never heard this story before! Eliza giggled to herself.

“That is actually quite the fascinating tale. You see, many people in our family believe that Alexander and I were in love at first sight…”

“Wait, are you saying you weren’t?” You questioned, she nodded.

“I had met Alexander once at my Father’s estate. He brought a message from Mr. Washington and stayed over for dinner. At the time, I had no intentions of courting with him.”

“Really? Why?” Angie seemed confused.

“Well… I was in love with someone else at the time. He was a red coat named Andre.” She explained. WAIT! A! MOMENT!

“You were in love with someone on the opposite side?” You were astounded. Eliza nodded with an amused smile. Am I the Andre to Philip’s Eliza? Was I just a phase?

“Madly in love, in fact. When I saw Alexander that night at a winter’s ball, everything changed. Love is a very complicated feeling, that’s what I realized in that moment. You can’t control it, you can’t change it and that’s scary.” Yeah…I know the feeling… “At first, I didn’t think Alexander was interested in me. Although my sister was already married at the time, I assumed he fancied her more. But here we are, many years later. Alexander has taught me many things, but mostly he’s shown me that love is not easy. You will doubt each other, hurt each other and not even intend to, or even worse… You do it to protect them.” Eliza finished putting the dress on you and quickly worked with your hair. She took two pieces from the front and braided them to the back, making sure your hair stayed out of your face. Was my sparkle not enough? Did someone give him more than I could offer? “You look beautiful dear!” Eliza teared up, Angie got off the bed, an idea burning in her pupils.

“Wait! Don’t go anywhere! I have an amazing idea!” She ran out of the room and you were left to wonder for a moment. After a few minutes she came running back in with something in her arms. You froze when you realized what it was. Five bushels of baby’s breath… She stepped behind you and laced the stems into your braid. “The best accessory a lady can wear is fresh flowers.” She stated. You felt odd about using the flower. You looked at yourself in the mirror. You were pretty but felt, out of place. Monachopsis, that’s the word that came to mind in that moment. You didn’t feel like you belonged there anymore, you tried not to think about it too much.  Once you were all dressed and ready, Eliza led you out to the main room.

“Alexander has already called the coach. He should be waiting outside with Lafayette.” You took a step out the door and let your eyes adjust to the bright light. Alex was talking with Lafayette outside the carriage and once they noticed you and the other woman with you they smiled. You went down the steps and Alex took your hand, turning your wrist and signaling for you to spin.

“Oh, I wonder where that dress came from!” He hinted while you span in place, his banter made you feel a bit better about everything. Alex gave your hand to Lafayette so you turned your attention to him. He smiled at you pleasantly.

“Miss Titania, Alexander instructed me to call you that, you look quite elegant, if I must say.” You fanned your face jocularly.

“Monsieur, you flatter me so!” You said with fake bashfulness.  He opened the carriage door and helped you into it, when he got in he sat across from you. You waved everyone goodbye and joked that you would be back before tomorrow. The carriage pulled forward and you watched as it drove out of the yard. Just as the house was starting to fade out of sight, you saw another carriage pull in. Another carriage? The house was too far away at that point for you to investigate any further. You were starting to get a bit nervous and your leg began to bounce from under your dress. You stared out the window until you felt something tap your arm. You jumped slightly and turned your gaze toward Lafayette.

“Miss Titania, you seem a bit flustered. May I ask what is wrong?”

“Oh, um, yes. I’m just a bit anxious is all. I’ve uh, never been to anything like this before.” You chuckled and scratched your cheek.

“Do not fear! As a gentleman, it is my job to ensure that you have as nice of a time as possible. After all, those who can’t dance shall not dance together! Or…something of that effect.” Wow…he’s just as awkward as me. What a precious lil baguette!

It wasn’t long before the carriage pulled in front of a large house. It was mostly brick and was almost the model image of Victorian styling. The carriage stopped in front of the estate and Lafayette stepped out first to help you down. The two of you made your way up the grand stone steps, the door was opened for you. You thought you were going to be early but there were already tons of people inside the large, open room. It wouldn’t have bothered you so much if not a good majority of the people looked over at you. Lafayette had his arm linked with yours and pulled it slightly to get your attention as he led you through the room.

“I think they like you.” He whispered.

“Who’s party is this anyway?” You questioned.

“The Price’s, I was quite close with the father of the house, the rest of the family was more than happy to allow me to attend.” You nodded to show that you understood. You felt several eyes gaze at you from time to time, you weren’t sure how to feel about it. Lafayette was nice enough to make sure you never felt too uncomfortable. At one point he was leading you across the room by stopped halfway. “I will be right back; I must greet the lady of the house. Would you mind waiting for just a moment?” He asked.

“Go ahead, I’ll be here.” He continued to walk across the room. A young man approached you not long after. Well, not quite young, he still seemed quite a bit older than you.

“Hello Miss, what is a fair lady, such as yourself, doing here all by your lonesome?” He certainly knew that you were not alone. Can’t a girl be by herself for ten seconds and not be bothered?! “May I get you a drink?” He asked.

“No thank you, I don’t drink.” I don’t trust the alcohol in this century! He tried to insist but you declined, that didn’t stop him from trying to ask again but he was stopped by a voice interrupting him. You felt someone standing behind you.

“Excuse me sir, thank you for keeping my friend company for me. Now if you don’t mind…” The man quickly walked away from the masculine voice behind you. Why does that sound so familiar? You sighed.

“Thank you, I wasn’t sure how I wa-“ You turned around and froze.

“Hello Titania, it’s been quite a while hasn’t it?” A bright color filled your eyesight.

“Mr. Jefferson…”

The fandom has become so toxic, Matty. I don't even know how to stay here anymore without going berserk. Uttering a single word gets me such backlash it makes me weep. I've blocked and muted and everything in between. Nothing works. I don't know why I'm telling you this but please help me. I don't know what to do anymore.

Oh, anon. I’m so, so very sorry to hear this. Have a hug, first and foremost.

I’m nobody to tell you what to do but since you left this in my inbox, I cannot leave this unanswered.

Trust me, we all have our moments. I did as well and I took a break because sometimes that’s the only thing you can do. So, you do you without any hesitation.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - the thing is that the fandom is sentient. It’s something that I realized a while ago but this fandom is sentient. It holds so many people within itself, from different backgrounds, cultures, genders, and what not. Imagine every difference you can conceive and put it all together under one blanket. So many thousands of people with so many different energies. And all of it feeding the fandom. Nobody is a nobody. Every single one of us is important. Everything is symbiotic.

For me, fandom is a sentient being. When there is a great moment (think the teaser for 3x20) it thrives and lives spectacularly. When there are hard times (think entire season 5), it slumps and sighs in weariness. The fandom lives because of us. We hold the reins of its life, and as so many different people, it’s inevitable that the lows will come with the highs. It is also inevitable that there will be people who disagree with you, people who’ll never like you, people with whom you’d never mix. But there are also people who would. Those are the ones I focus on.

I love Oliver. I love Felicity. Together and as individuals. I love them because they are not perfect. I love them because they are flawed human beings who make mistakes and learn and persevere through situations that break people. They inspire me and I love them.

I may not agree with the show sometimes. (I definitely don’t)

I may think the story sucks sometimes (I definitely do)

I may think the characters deserve better most times (I absolutely do)

I may miss the old way (I really do)

I may want to smack Oliver on his head or shake Felicity sometimes. (I do)

I may want to invade the Writers Room and change the scripts (a lot)

But that does not change the one basic fact underneath everything - I connect to Olicity. (Even when they’re going through the bad times, I connect to them)

And that’s the entire point, anon. All of us are here because, despite our numerous differences and stands, at some point, we connected to them. We are united by one simple thing - Olicity.

It’s not just a ship or a phenomenon anymore. It’s a way of life. And life has a way of being harsh sometimes.

Everyone has a right to their opinion and they should - that’s what makes everything dynamic and stops us from being sheep. Sometimes it gets rough, sometimes it’s smooth. But the most important thing is that this fandom is here because of the connection each and every one of us feels to Oliver and Felicity.

I know sometimes things become very bleak. Sometimes I get upset too, it’s unnatural not to. Thankfully, I have friends I vent to in those moments and they smack sense into me. And with that sense, also comes a reminder. About not just the bad, but the good of this fandom.

This is the same fandom that unites with a fierceness that’s unbelievable when faced with adversaries. This is the same fandom that put everything else aside and got together for a week during MTV Ship of the Year to grab that victory for our babies. This is the same fandom where Person A may not like Person B but they’d slay any outsider raising a finger at them.

I agree it has it’s hard moments, but it has those moments too that will remain with us for the rest of our lives, experiences that we couldn’t have gone through anywhere else. I like to focus on those usually. As long as people know what they are here for, that Olicity is the core of this fandom, it’s all good. I am not here for everyone who agrees or disagrees with me. I am here for Oliver and Felicity and my connection to them. This is my happy place, not naturally, but because I try my damnedest to keep it so.

So, do what makes you feel happiest here, anon. Take a break if that’s what makes you happy. Leave or stay if that does. Meet people or sit in your own corner, ignore what you don’t like or take a stand- it’s all on you. Choose your battles, as they say.

It’s like writing a story (and I’m using this analogy because this is who I am). There may be people who hate it, people who tell you they hate it, people who criticize everything harshly. But there are also people who believe and encourage and take the time to give you the best of their love. That’s who you focus on. That’s how you keep writing.

Have your own opinions. Stay strong to them. Respect what others say. They have a reason for the way they feel too. We don’t know where anyone comes from and being judgemental is the easy path, not the correct one.

Live and let live. Do you. Be happy. Try and make the most of the good bits.

Because we are in a relationship with Oliver and Felicity. And relationships are not easy, but then,

“Forgotten” Authors

So I just posted a list of popular Dramione authors and their most popular fics for a new ship member, and mentioned that I would make a separate post for few popular fics with authors who are not as popular. The problem with recommending fics that are popular is that when DramioneAsks recommends any fic, people go read it, and like it, and favorite/follow/review it, and then it only increases the fic’s popularity, causing us to recommend the same “Most Popular” fics over-and-over again.

So here I am adding a list of authors who may not be current in the fandom anymore, but who wrote some popular fics (that are at least 5 years old) that we love to read and share. I encourage you to check out the other fics of these authors.

Also, make sure to check out new fics regularly (we post them from our queue daily), and remember to favorite, follow and review fics as your read them, so that you can help your favorite new authors join the “popular club.” You can also help by submitting recommendations of newer fanfiction for us to share with others.
