the eyeliner is not waterproof

Dog Days Are Over

There were certain rules to being a veterinary technician.

Number one, waterproof mascara and eyeliner always! When the customer cries, you cry. Number two, carry a lint roller on you at all times; it’s best to get the pocket-sized one, because Mr. Twinkles sheds a lot! Number three, iron your scrubs! And it’s probably best to keep an extra pair in your car, because Mrs. Comier’s Jack Russell likes to pee on people.

Even though you knew these rules by heart, and you followed them every single day of your work-life, today was an exception. It was just one of those days that absolutely nothing- no matter how hard you tried- was going right. You were covered in fluffy cat hairs, Mrs. Comier’s Jack Russell peed on your leg twice, and you had run out of waterproof mascara; so when Mr. Langley brought in his thirteen year old Labrador to put her down, he cried, and so you cried, and in the end you looked like the raccoon that liked to sneak into the office dumpsters at closing.

Today just wasn’t your day.

Jackson mumbled incoherently being bothered by the noise you and your daughter were making.

dupes/alternatives masterpost ✨

Hey loves, this masterpost was partially requested and I’m so excited.  I recommend to do your research before buying the dupe, some of the dupes are better than others. Some brands are repeated. Here is a dupe masterpost for MAC lipsticks. Here is a dupe masterpost for liquid lipsticks. Here is a spreadsheet of Coastal Scents eyeshadows to MAC eyeshadow dupes. Most of these dupes I found online so I do not take credit for any of those but some I researched myself. This is under read more because this list is very long. :) If you have any more dupes or questions, feel free to send them in.

Hi! Do you have any tips to prevent liquid eyeliner from smudging onto the eyelid? Especially for all-day wearing. Thanks :)

When it comes to getting the perfect winged liner it can take a fair amount of time to perfect and it is often not without the help of cotton tips and eye makeup remover. If getting your eyeliner perfect wasn’t frustrating enough on its own, having it smudge all over the place after a couple of hours after applying certainly is.

Use a good eyelid primer (and set it!)

Even if you don’t plan on wearing any eyeshadow, an eyelid/shadow primer is something that can really benefit  you if you have issues with mascara and eyeliner smudging. I’m obsessed with the NARS Pro-Prime Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Primer because it mattifies the eyelids and keeps everything in place. I also recommend setting your eyeshadow primer with a bit of loose powder or sheer eyeshadow in a beige shade, this will help further lock the primer into place so your liner will stay longer.

Use a waterproof, long-wearing eyeliner

This is something that is relatively obvious, but if you tend to have issues with oiliness on the eyelids/makeup smudging you should be using an eyeliner that has exception staying power. I swear by the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner, it comes in a variety of shades and stays put through heat and humidity. There are drugstore brands that do great liquid liners, but if you’re after intense staying power it’s not really worth wasting your time (or money) with them.

Set Your Eyeliner

If you’re using a liquid liner it’s probably because you want a beautiful, crisp clean liner, in which case this tip might not be for you. If you don’t mind a softer effect to your eyeliner and eye makeup then you can really benefit you. After applying your liquid liner, use a small brush to apply some black eyeshadow directly over the top of the liquid, tracing the shape carefully. This will help get rid of any of the moisture in the eyeliner and make it drier and therefore less likely to smudge.

Set Your Concealer

You’re probably thinking “huh,  I have issues with my eyeliner not my concealer?” but if smudging eye makeup is a big issue for you, setting your concealer underneath your eyes may just fix that. Eye makeup (especially mascaras and eyeliners) tend to be attracted to creamy products on the face such as concealers.

the rest of our lives || Mandy/Jenny

a/n: written for @omgcpwomenfest, day 11. i don’t usually write angsty stuff, but…. have some unrequited pre-ghosthood pining with a side of sapphic self-realization and some ominous foreshadowing. :)))))

“Do you think I should do, like, waterproof eyeliner? Or just regular?” Jenny asked. “Because, like, they haven’t told us anything about this rush event, you know? And I just want to be, like, ready for whatever.”

Mandy looked up from where she was painting her nails on Jenny’s bed. Jenny was standing over her, holding two tubes of makeup and biting her bottom lip. In the end, Jenny had opted for shorts and her red Samwell top, the one that always kept slipping off her shoulders. She looked cute—but then, Jenny looked cute in everything, Mandy thought.

“I’d definitely go with the waterproof one,” Mandy said finally. “Just to be safe. Runny makeup totally blows.”

“That’s what I was thinking!” Jenny said. She uncapped the waterproof eyeliner and hopped back over to her mirror. “Plus, like, what if I cry or something? It’s going to be a pretty emotional night.”

Mandy nodded and carefully painted another nail. “I know, right? I’m super excited,” she said, and then added, a little more hesitantly, “but I’m also… kinda nervous.”

“It’s totally fine to be nervous,” Jenny said. She’d already finished the eyeliner on one dark eye and was moving onto the next, her hand steady and precise. The sharp tip of the eyeliner brush dragged effortlessly over Jenny’s lash line. God, it was almost as if the brush was drawn there magnetically. Watching Jenny do her makeup never got old.

“What'cha thinkin about?” Jenny asked, catching Mandy’s eye through the mirror. Mandy blinked.

“Oh,” she said. “You’re just, you know. You’re really good at makeup.” That earned her a smile.

“It’s all about practice, Mandy dearest,” Jenny said. “I grew up doing makeup for ballet. And drill team. And cheer. You pick it up fast.” She winked.

Somehow, Mandy doubted would be as good as Jenny even if she’d had the same amount of experience, but she didn’t say that.

“As soon as my nails dry, I’m going to get started on my makeup,” she said instead. “Is it okay if I borrow your eyeshadow?”

“I could do it for you, if you want.”

Mandy paused. “…What?”

“I could do your eyeshadow,” she said. “But like, only if you want me to?”

It was getting closer to the ball. Hercules was almost done with your dress, and was excited for you to try it on.

It fit perfectly, of course. Hercules always made things that way-–especially for you. He had made the last alterations to your gown and you got to take the dress home from Hercules’ studio.

Today was the day. It felt like you were coming into your own. Tonight, you’d have dinner with some of the most famous politicians, their assistants, and other members of the press in New York City. You were so small, insignificant to the veterans of your field, but it gave you hope and comfort knowing that maybe you could one day be there too.

Your hair was in rollers thanks to Herc. He liked to play with your hair and helped you get ready as Laf made sure John and Alex were looking sharp. The boys finally had taken their showers. Your sweet perfume mixed with the boys’ cologne and you filed on your nails. You were trying to keep calm. It was just a little party. You’d be all right.

What I would give to have Emma and Snow actually have a chat about makeup, even very brief, and Emma can mention that she’s so glad she stopped wearing fake eyelashes. This is great for her character the people watching.

Bonus anyone and Hook discussing makeup because that would be wonderful. Yes, I’m a man who loves eyeliner. here are some tips for waterproof smokey eyes.

My Recommendations for a Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit

I thought about doing a ‘what’s in my makeup bag’ type of post today because I like seeing what other people carry in their makeup bags, but then I remembered that I don’t carry a makeup bag with me. The only time I use makeup bags is when I travel, and half of my stuff goes into a Ziploc. But then I thought I could instead do a drugstore makeup starter kit. I like reading other people’s versions of these as well. I used to get really overwhelmed by everything at the drugstore before I started blogging and I never knew what was good so I just went for what was nicely packaged - which obviously didn’t always go well since the drugstore is full of terrible, straight-from-hell products. I thought this would be helpful to those who are just getting into makeup, and want to start building a little starter kit with affordable products.

And to be totally honest, it’s not a lazy Sunday afternoon, but actually very late Saturday night but I have nothing else to do other than blog and watch sad movies about broken marriages and drink decaf tea, so here goes.

How to Effectively Double Cleanse Your Skin
Editorial Post.Cleansing the skin (or washing) is something we’ve been told to do since day one, but how many of us are double cleansing? Double cleansing is one of the most important things you can do for your skin if you’ve been wearing makeup throughout the day. You should cleanse once to remove makeup and then cleanse again to remove dirts, oils and dead skin-cells that have built up on your skin throughout the day.

Had a fun day. Went for a nice walk, caught some Pokemon (I can’t help myself) and got some ice cream. Seriously, it’s the way to my heart. 🍦🍦

My run today was almost 9k through the narrow streets of Piran. Had a lot of fun! Passed some runners. Chased the sunset again!

Also people who wear make up. I have to tell you about this eyeliner I bought. It’s Catrice eye'matic dip liner and it’s the best thing ever. Easy to use and lasts so long! I went for a walk and then for a run. Sweated like a pig 😂😂 and after my run it was still on! Perfect! I had to use olive oil to get it off. It’s waterproof and officially the best eyeliner I tried. Seriously.

A Sugar Baby's Skincare/Makeup Routine

Follow me on Instagram! I basically have no followers 😂 @xcxsxbx

Disclaimer: I am not being sponsored by any of these companies.. as if they’d sponsor a sugar baby blog on tumblr 😂

I have fair skin, but almost all of these products come in a range of skin tones from light to dark. I also have black hair, so I use black eyeliner. If you are blonde you may want to consider using brown eyeliner for a more subtle look during the daytime, but you do you! Lastly, I am lucky to have very clear skin, so if you have acne-prone skin your skincare and makeup routine obviously should include different products to take care of the acne.

As always, questions/comments/suggestions welcome - just write in!

In the shower or if I’m not feeling too lazy in the morning or at night I’ll wash my face with Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser ($25 from Sephora). If I am too lazy to wash my face, I’ll use Bioderma Crealine H2O ($32 from Amazon) on cotton pads. It’s a French girl beauty staple, super gentle and really effective at taking off your makeup.

I also exfoliate with St. Ives Apricot Scrub ($3.69 from Target) twice a week.

I moisturize with Shiseido Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream ($75 from Sephora). It’s super rich and especially good in dry climates.

I really should be more careful about the sun and start wearing sunscreen on my face and neck daily, but I always am too lazy/forget. When I’m good I use Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 ($68 from Sephora). In the Summer months I’ll go for something higher like an SPF 50.

Then I use Tom Ford Bronzing Primer - Resort to Pleasure ($74 from Net-a-Porter). It really gives your face a nice natural glow. I layer Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow Foundation ($52 from Net-a-Porter) on top of that, it’s sheer and luminous rather than matte.

Afterwards I go over any dark circles or redness on the sides on my nose with concealer. If my circles are bad I’ll use Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer ($42 from Sephora) which has really great heavy coverage, but be careful not to put too much on or you’ll start to look cakey. If they aren’t so bad I’ll let my skin breathe and use Perricone MD No Concealer Concealer SPF30 ($32 from Net-a-Porter) which is lighter.

To keep my face from shining or streaking I set everything with Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder ($38 from Sephora) using a kabuki/powder brush.

Then I’ll highlight and contour my cheekbones and nose with Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette ($46) using an angled brush.

I then line my upper waterline with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero ($20 from Sephora) and the outer edges of my bottom waterline as well. Then I’ll do a slight wing/cat eye on the lid with Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($22 from Sephora), which is really really great and stays on, well, all day (and all night)!

I think the winged eyeliner complements my eyelash extensions (which I have in the C-shape instead of the round shape) making my eyes look more catlike and seductive. If I do wear mascara I’ll use Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara ($32 from Sephora), but often I don’t unless I’m going out because the eyelash extensions look fine and stay on longer without it.

On my eyebrows I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Granite ($32 from Sephora).

Lastly, on my lips I use Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick ($30 from Net-a-Porter). It’s a colored balm really that gives your lips a very natural color. If I’m trying to glam up I’ll use Kylie Lip Kit in Candy K ($29 from Kylie Cosmetics). Yes I’m a fan!

So, that’s my daily skincare and makeup routine! I know it seems like a lot but it’s really actually pretty simple when you break it down step by step, and it only takes me 10 minutes tops.
