but bc no fandom would be complete without one i present truth pollen!klance where lance fights an alien or finds a plant that hits him with truth pollen and he has to answer any question honestly and he’s so frightened cuz he has the most to cover up like no one else have secrets really they’re all secure to tell each other what they’re thinking or feeling but lance has been careful to keep his happy mask in place but now he’s avoiding everyone like the plague and everyone is kinda surprised cuz what does lance have to hide?
and pidge is kinda curious maybe he’s trying to hide his huge crush on keith but everyone already knows about that so she tells lance not to worry about it no one will care but lance still refuses to leave his room until allura pulls him out and assures him no one will ask him anything and respect his privacy and lance is like alright if you can’t believe a princess who can you believe
so he goes to dinner and obviously he’s super quiet and everyone does as promised talking to and around lance without asking questions and anyway the team start chuckling about how this whole situation seems so funny and ‘oh lance the shenanigans you get into’ and lance just keeps quiet and his head down
and just as dinner is almost over shiro slips up and asks “honestly lance how do you always end up in these things?” and hunk and allura are immediately like nononono but it’s too late, w/o even looking up lance opens his mouth and is like “cause I’m stupid" and everyone else laughs but then they’re like……wait
“I’m a little embarrassed to admit how much power you actually hold over me.”
“I’m never helping you home ever again.” You huffed as you dragged the drunken mass of a man named Gaston through the empty town square late in the evening.
“You said that the last time.” Gaston slurred as he leaned more heavily into your side, making your job of escorting him home all the more difficult.
You grunted as the sudden increase in weight caused your balance to topple a little. Luckily you managed to catch your footing before the both of you crashed on the unforgiving cobblestone.
“Look, I’m gonna need you to ease up here,” You said as you tried to push him off you so you weren’t carrying all of his weight. “You’re three times my size and I’m going to need a little cooperation.”
Still in a daze, Gaston leaned his head down so your foreheads touched before he burried his face into your neck. “You’re hair smells really nice.” His voice was muffled and hard to understand with his slur but you got the point.
You sighed heavily as you stopped your movements and looked down at him. Had it not been for the fact you had been dragging him by the arm for the past twenty minutes and still had a good way to go, you would have found his behavior endearing or even amusing.
But now it was just annoying, you repositioned your arm around him and pulling him away from you with the best of your ability. “Come on, It’s high time we got you home.”
The two of you trudged along, Gaston had since stopped talking but you could faintly hear him humming the song he was singing in the tavern with the other townspeople but at least he was somewhat walking on his own.
You rounded the corner and walked up to the steps that lead to his front door before you stopped and had him lean against the railing. “Where is your key?”
Gaston ran his hands down the red leather of his coat and patted at the two outside pockets before he shrugged. “Dunno.”
You sighed and pulled at the one lapel of his coat and dug into the pocket that was sewn into the inside.
Gaston let out a rather high pitched giggle and wrapped his hands around your waist to hold you closer. “At least wait till we’re inside, darling.”
You quickly fished the key from his pocket and wacked at his hand before you removed yourself from his grasp.
“You’re lucky you’re drunk,” You mumbled as you sat him down on the last step. “Stay here until I get the door.” You said as you pointed your index finger a few inches from his nose.
Gaston nodded lazily and moved his head foward to bop his own nose against your finger before he slumped against the railing.
“Next time I see Lefou, I’ll strangle him.” You muttered as you ascended up the steps and unlocked the door, opening it the entire way to avoid as little malfunctions as you could manage.
Taking the time to light a few candles so you had some source of light before attempting to drag him through the maze of furniture in his living room.
Gaston was still slumped where you left him whenever you made your way outside again. “Up we go,” You heaved as you dragged his body yo from the ground. “Let’s get you inside.”
He was much more quiet as the two of you crossed the threshold. You were fairly certain Gaston was falling asleep where he stood because all of a sudden the weight became too much and you had to drop him on the couch so you could recollect your strength.
“What am I going to do with you?” You said with exasperation as you looked down at, hearing him start to giggle again and this time drawing a laugh from yourself. “Hey, I’m trying my best.”
Gaston continued to chuckle as he stood up on his own, pinching your cheek lightly as he passed you. “I know, dear.”
You walked ahead and pulled open his door, making sure he didn’t harm himself on the way to his bed. Gaston fumbled with getting his getting his coat off, and had an even harder time undoing the buttons of his waistcoat until eventually asking for your assistantance.
His eyes followed your movements as you undid the little brass buttons and helped him remove the fabric from his shoulder so he could rest in comfort. You even went the step further and helped him climb into the covers and making sure he was warm.
You sat down on the edge and sighed as you patted his chest. “See? We finally made it,” You told him with a smile. “Here sit up.” You advised as your started untying the ribbon from his hair and setting it on the bedside table.
“Comfy?” You asked him as he shook out his hair and finally let his head fall back into the pillow with a sigh of content.
You brushed back a rogue strand of dark hair from his eyes, and seizing the opportunity, Gaston grabbed your hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it.
“You know, it’s a little embarrassing to admit how much power you hold over me.” He mumbled against your hand as his eyes fell shut.
The small tingle his breathing left against your skin made you laugh a little. “Oh you’re not going to remember a word of this tomorrow,” You said with a sigh as he started to drift in and out of sleep. “And then you’ll come complaining to me about your hangover.”
“You know me too well.” He said quietly as his hand let go of yours. “I might as well marry you.”
You laughed and shook your head at him. “We can talk about marriage tomorrow when you can tell me what day it is.”
“Do I detect a promise?” Gaston asked, though the end of his sentence and drifted off as he finally fell asleep.
You gave him a lopsided smiled before you leaned over and blew out the candle to let him get some well deserved sleep.
It was his idea, after this kid at his school was being followed by this woman who spoke with her hands to the boy every time the teacher spoke. Percy thought it was so weird and he asked the boy why he couldn’t talk
The lady was really nice to him about it, too. She told him the boy couldn’t hear and that this was his way of talking, even if he was in what he called a ‘hearing school’
Percy fell in love with the language instantly. He befriended the boy and the lady, and because of that everyone made fun of him for being around 'that weird kid’
By the end of the semester, Percy was able to talk to Jacob, the deaf kid, without having to used Amanda, the translator
When he went home for winter break, he eagerly showed Sally the new language he learned. Sally couldn’t believe Percy picked up on something like that so quickly, learning so much in only a few short months
Percy insisted that they learn, because 'Then Smelly Gabe doesn’t have to yell at us for being too loud.’
He taught her whenever he had the chance, which was those rare times they went grocery shopping or out buying new uniforms because Percy was afraid Gabe would pick up on this beautiful language
When Percy went back to school, he found out his deaf friend had to move. Heartbroken (platonically speaking) and alone, Percy’s grades stopped getting better and he went mute for the rest of the schon year, refusing to do schoolwork or activities. He buried himself into ASL, learning as much as he could before Sally got a letter shortly after April testing stating that Percy was not welcome back for the next grading cycle
As he got older, he used ASL more than ever. He went back to talking, but sometimes he found himself accidentally signing as he spoke. It started off subtlety, only being words like 'my mother’, 'wind’, 'let’s go’, and 'no/yes’
Sometimes he’ll forget he’s not deaf, or that “normal kids” don’t sign, and he’ll switch into ASL in an argument
Kids teased him for it
He won’t admit it out loud, but that was why he fired that cannon at that Revolutionary war memorial
He forced himself to stop signing when he went to Yancy. He couldn’t look his mom in the eyes for a week when she found out that those kids, the ones who teased him for learning the deaf language, were why he blew up a bus.
Grover met Percy and befriended him, not once learning of his hidden language ability
Percy secretly likes no one knowing about it. It felt kind of like a secret language a spy would use when she couldn’t talk to her partner
As he grew into his demigod life, he found ways to prevent the unintentional signing - spinning Riptide in his fingers, running a hand through his hair, crossing his arms, or simply tucking his hands into his pockets
When Gabe died, Sally and Percy stopped signing to each other. After all, they didn’t need to be secretive, right?
When Paul came around, Percy’s signing defense reactivated. He talked to his mom with his hands again, which had shocked the teacher
Sally reassured Percy that there was no way Paul would be like Gabe. Gabe was being used for his scent; Paul was here because he was sweet and kind and loving
Paul couldn’t understand a word of their conversation, and when he asked Sally what happened, she told him that ASL was Percy’s “escape” language
Percy was shocked when Paul asked him to learn. It proved to be very great bonding time between the 2 of them
Then Hera kidnapped Percy and wiped his memories
While he trained with Lupa, he found himself weaving strange hand gestures into his speech. He couldn’t understand how he knew what this one hand gesture meant, or how to say a certain phrase without having to talk, but he thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Something inside him told himself to keep the hand signals to himself, like a gut feeling
Lupa was always telling Percy to follow his gut
So he stopped signing, focusing on improving his battle movements
Sometimes, on the Argo 2, he would stand in front of the mirror and sign to himself
Once again, he hid his favourite language from his friends. This was his and his mom’s language, their special way of talking
No one was allowed to know it unless they had to
Not even his own father knew that Percy and Sally were ASL speakers
The quests fly by, Percy making a point to communicate with his mouth and not his hands
At the end of Saving The World Part Two™, the first thing he did was go see his mom and sign to her
Beautiful with an S is the name his friend Jacob gave her when Percy showed him a picture. That name was the first thing hr signed when he saw his mother again
The squeal Paul heard from the kitchen indicated that Sally had signed “I’m pregnant”
(Which, guys, totally happened to be all Percy’s fault. Don’t believe me? It took a month of travel to get to Rome. Apollo went MIA for 6 months, which means TOA took place 7 months after SON. Sally is seven months pregnant in The Hidden Oracle…)
Percy settled back down into his normal oral-only speech rule he made for himself
Then Annabeth called him and said that he needed to meet her in Boston
Percy packed up stuff and drove himself to Boston via Blackjack & Chariot taxi services
There he met Magnus, Blitzen, Sam, and Hearthstone
Annabeth cheerily introduced Percy to her 'mortal-not-so-mortal’ cousin
Magnus and Percy discussed stuff for a while before Hearthstone signed that he couldn’t understand what Percy was saying because his mouth formed words differently
Without meaning to, Percy instantly started signing an apology, explaining that New York City accents did that
And Annabeth nearly flipped the table
“What do you mean you’ve been signing since you were 7?!”
Percy was stuck trying to explain to Annabeth that him knowing another language like that was no big deal
But to Percy, ASL was a huge deal. It was his favourite and his secret language.
Annabeth was just mad that such an important piece of information about Percy was never brought to her attention
Percy reluctantly taught her ASL
Their wedding vows and were exchanged with ASL

Summary: Watching the man you love love someone else was the most painful feeling in the world.
Part One: xPart Two: xPart Three: x Alternate Ending: x
It was terrifying how much could change in a year. To think that just a few short weeks could change everything about you was daunting, but true. When you had left life felt like torture, like everywhere you looked there was something waiting to mock you. You were broken, your heart all but ashes when you boarded the first flight away, but you knew it was what you needed to do. You needed time away from it all to figure out what you wanted, to figure out who you were without all of the things you’d grown so used to. It was hard, leaving it all behind, like you just gave away a piece of yourself with no plans of ever getting it back.
Loving Byun Baekhyun was hard, but letting that love go, was harder.
