[Major Spoilers] “Follow your true feelings!”: My Musings on P5′s Wildcard Couple

Can we talk about Morgana’s astute observations regarding Akechi’s true feelings for Akira? Can we talk about how (Morgana’s words–not mine) Akechi’s smile when he was hanging out with Akira had been genuine? This boy– who had distanced himself from everyone, who had wrapped himself up in layers upon layers of lies that he wears like a second skin, who had made revenge his one and only goal in life – had also, in spite of himself, serendipitously found kinship in the one boy whom he has decided that he has to kill.

alright i’m gonna address the movie La La Land real quick.

1. First off, if you don’t like musicals, why would you think it’s a smart idea to watch the movie? It’s not the movies fault you don’t like musicals.

2. It’s not a white savior movie. Yes, Ryan Gosling’s character really likes jazz and is trying to preserve it’s tradition, but at no point is this movie legitimately asserting the idea that a white man is the only hope for jazz music.

3. This movie isn’t a love letter to Hollywood. In fact, Hollywood is the source of Emma Stone’s character’s defeat, Ryan Gosling’s character following a money making job instead of his dream, and ultimately keeping the two from having a happily ever after ending together.

4. This movie isn’t just a love story. To me, it spoke volumes about the society we live in which stomps all over people with real ambitious dreams they seek to achieve. I mean, it’s even an allegory for the directer/writer of this story for creating his dream, a musical in a culture that’s been over musicals for decades.

5. Moonlight did in fact deserve best picture. However, the fact that people are shitting all over La La Land without even an actual understanding of the film is uncalled for and ignorant

Republicans Go Nuclear So They Can Push Through Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee
After Senate Democrats successfully filibustered Judge Neil Gorsuch's nomination, Republicans changed the rules on Thursday, making Gorsuch’s confirmation all but certain.
By Emma Loop, Zoe Tillman

Senate Republicans on Thursday ended the Democratic filibuster of US Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch by changing the Senate’s rules for voting on those nominees.

The move — known as the “nuclear option” — makes it all but certain that President Donald Trump’s first high court nominee will be confirmed by the weekend.

Gorsuch’s nomination will now proceed to a final vote by the Senate on Friday, where the Republican majority is expected to confirm him — a significant win for the Trump administration that will resonate for decades not only on the Supreme Court, but in the Senate as well.

Democrats filibustered the nomination on Thursday morning, defeating a motion to end debate, known as cloture. After the failed cloture vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell initiated a series of procedural moves to change the interpretation of Senate rules about the number of votes needed to invoke cloture on Supreme Court nominations — from three-fifths of the Senate, or 60 votes, down to a simple majority.

Republicans voted 52-48 in favor of making the change, known as the “nuclear option” because it blows up long-standing Senate process.

Does Dark Matter Exist, Or Is Gravity Wrong? The Answer Lies Billions Of Years In The Past

“If this result holds up with more and better data, this may provide a window into galactic evolution that finally allows us to discriminate between dark matter and modified gravity in a clear and robust way. These types of observations, to measure the rotation curves of galaxies many of billions of light years away, will be a prime science goal for new telescopes in the 2020s like GMT, E-ELT and WFIRST. Both sides will continue to argue for their interpretation of the data, but in the end, it will be the full suite of data that reveals how nature truly behaves. Will Einstein be superseded? Or will we all wind up joining the dark side? By time another decade goes by, the answer may finally be known.”

The dark matter wars rage on and on, with both sides – those in favor of modifying gravity and those in favor of adding an additional mass component to the Universe – claiming victories for their own side and defeat for the other. But one piece of evidence, hitherto elusive, might finally hold the key to distinguishing one from the other: early, young, less-evolved galaxies. Billions of years ago, not as much dark matter had fallen into the inner portions of galaxies, meaning that the outer portions of rotating spirals should display less dark matter in the past than they do today. Instead of flat rotation curves, the galaxies in the distant Universe should exhibit falling rotation curves. In a series of new papers, a team was able to observe 101 distant galaxies at relatively high redshifts, and what they found presented compelling evidence for exactly this phenomenon. As always, more and better data is needed, as it’s only a three-sigma effect so far.

But as the first hint of this long-anticipated effect, it’s a compelling preview of what the telescopes of the 2020s will offer! Come get the scientific story today.

CARATACUS, The Warrior Rebel

Caratacus was a heroic British-Celtic warrior king, who was born just a decade after Jesus Christ. He was from the south-east of modern-day England.

He was first hero of Britain due to his fierce resistance to the Roman invasion.

With his leadership of brave warriors they fought against 40,000 Roman soldiers, an for 8 years, until being defeated in 51 AD. So he fled to the north…

With his army in disarray, he ended up in the tribe-land of the Brigantes, where he met their queen Cartimunda, an took sanctuary - as in modern-day Yorkshire.

However, Cartimunda betrayed him, by handing him over to the Romans, so they would look kindly upon her tribal realm. For the Roman way was the future.

As shown above, he was then taken to the capital city of the Roman empire, where he gave such a fine speech to the Roman emperor, that he was spared the usual death-sentence that a warring rebellious king would typically get.

But only a decade later, Queen Boudica, of another British tribe, would rebel !

Listen I love Harry Potter you all know that I sold my soul to those books a long time ago so listen to me when I say that y'all need to stop defending the canonical actions of Slytherin House
Stop it with these reaches of the century about how Slytherin “wasn’t founded on bigotry” and how “we don’t know if everyone in Slytherin in the books was a pureblood so how do we know they were all purists” and “they were traditionalists trying to preserve Wizard Culture uwu”

Slytherin House was founded by a man who wanted to exclude part of the wizarding community based on something they couldn’t control (heritage). I don’t care about his reasoning. He left a Murder Snake in a school knowing that his descendants would use it to kill all of the muggleborns in Hogwarts.

Yes. We know that not every Slytherin was Evil.
Andromeda Black married a muggleborn. Regulus Black became one of the most important heroes in the series. Horace Slughorn is one of the best examples of a morally grey character.
And there were probably others, but on the whole, the wizarding community saw Slytherin as the house of Voldemort and people who agreed with him.
Regulus Black still joined the Death Eaters before he graduated Hogwarts and no one knew that Regulus worked to defeat Voldemort until almost 2 decades after his death.
Andromeda was disowned after marrying Ted and her own sister wanted to brutally murder Nymphadora.
Snape was much more accepted by Slytherin when Harry was at Hogwarts than Slughorn was. Why? Maybe it was because he played favorites. Maybe it was because he had been a Death Eater.

And yes. We know for a fact that not everyone in Slytherin was a pureblood. Tom Marvolo Riddle had a muggle father and he was a Slytherin. If Lord Halfblood was a Slytherin and ended up creating a terrorist organization intent on committing genocide in the name of “finishing Salazar Slytherin’s noble work” then perhaps he wasn’t the only one.
Also you have to consider that during and after Voldemort’s rise to power (which according to the first chapter in the whole series was 11 years before his downfall) the fact that Blood Purist #1 was the heir of Slytherin had to influence people’s wishes when they were being sorted.
Kids who didn’t want to be associated with Slytherin for some reason or another (Sirius, Harry) were sorted elsewhere
Whereas anyone who had clear and mostly positive ties to Slytherin and wanted to be with like minded individuals (the Malfoys, Snape- another halfblood) were sorted accordingly
When a group of people all agree with each other they tend to become more radicalized because there’s no one to counter the group’s single-mindedness
So in the time between Voldemort’s first rise and Harry’s first year there had already been 20 years worth of sorting the like-minded (i.e. blatantly bigoted) kids together and sorting anyone who disagreed elsewhere
20 years worth of internal radicalization before Harry even got to Hogwarts
But sure Slytherin wasn’t labeled as the purist house at Hogwarts

I saw someone compare Canon Slytherins to the American Conservatives and I couldn’t believe it when some people literally started using Republican jargon to defend canon Slytherin values
“They were traditionalists trying to preserve wizard culture from outsiders!!”
What?!
Do you realize what you’re saying?!?
“We need to protect our country from outsiders!” “Protect traditional marriage!” “We can’t let them in here!”
Guys the kids in Slytherin House were a lot like the young republicans of today and if you can’t see that then maybe it’s time to reread the series

Anyway I get it
You’re sick and tired of being labeled as The Bad Guys
But consider: defending the actions of bad people doesn’t stop them from being bad people
It just means you’re defending bad actions
In the series, Slytherin House was full of radicalized elitists who spouted bigoted ideas. Many of whom joined a genocidal terrorist group before even graduating.
But just because it was that way in the books doesn’t mean all of you who identify as Slytherins are bigoted elitists
You’re a Slytherin because you value ambition and cunning and resourcefulness (and the color green)

It’s great that you’re a Slytherin
But that doesn’t mean you have to defend everything Slytherins did

To celebrate our fête nationale, here’s some info about Québec.

A French guy named Samuel de Champlain “discovered” Québec (the province) and founded Québec (the city), not taking into account the people already living there. But since they were brown and had no guns, they weren’t really people, were they? It caused some friction between the settlers and the native clans.

Sadly, the native population got pretty much exterminated through the decades, because that’s how colonialism works. =_=

There’s been a lot of friction between the French settlers and the English settlers over territories and religion, yadda yadda yadda, I wasn’t really listening in 4th year History class I was busy drawing, what you need to know is that the province changed a lot over the treaties. (Look how South we got!)

And one of the things that happened when Québec finally lost to the English, is that the English tried to assimilate the language and make them switch from Catholicism to Protestantism. But it never really caught on, and in the end, Canada accepted that the people living in Québec were different from the rest since, you know, they have a different history, language, religion and culture.

Fun fact, for 200 years or so, the France kinda forgot to take care of their pet colony and let them alone in North-America, so while the language in European France changed, the one in Québec didn’t really, and we speak with an accent and vocabulary closer to Louix XIV than them. So yeah, “Le roé, c’est moé”

There is a very delicate political debate about separation (Canadian government is no angel either) and two referendums happened, that ended in defeat for the Separatist party. I remember the last one, in 1995, and the endless political adds with simply “YES” or “NO” on them. The bad part is that it’s been proven, decades later, that the Canadian government interfered, using federal money, but you can’t turn back time and redo or undo the election. Since the results were 50,58% against 49,42%, you can imagine how History would have changed if no one had interfered… Americans can understand this, right?

(Personally, I don’t really have an opinion about separation anymore. Right now our politicians suck and no one is ready to actually lead a country. We would appreciate if today’s elected officials would forget this nationalist idea and just get with current problems.)

We celebrate the St-Jean Baptiste (St-John the Baptist) on June 24 as our national holiday (and yes, it’s national and not provincial). It’s a very politically charged holiday, where the French language is used as a tool of remembrance, identity, art and sometimes, as a weapon. (Because of pretty strong xenophobia against English-speaking people who’ve lived here all their lives… god.)

But, on the other hand..

I love living here. Moving to Montréal, thirty years ago, was the best gift my parents could have given me (and my yet-unborn siblings). This is a place where I could grow up as a woman, as a brown person, as a bisexual person, as an artist and a loudmouthed activist with opinions. Yeah, sure, nothing is perfect, there’s still lots of racism and even worse things, in the big city and elsewhere, but I still consider myself lucky to live here. I love this place and I’m gonna work hard to make it better for me and tomorrow’s kids, even if I have to indoctrinate an entire generation with my diverse books and animated series.

Also, it’s an opportunity to drink. I raise my glass to this messed up, complicated piece of land and weird people who helped me become the messed up and complicated woman I am now.

The Penrose Triangle

Part 5

As the months wore on, Spencer’s attention drew away from his own troubles (and of course the ever-present words) and toward his mother. All the love in the world couldn’t keep her mind from slipping away slowly – and it broke his heart. It weighed him down more than any words ever could, so he did what any loving son would.

Day in and day out, Spencer searched high and low for something that would help his mother. There was no cure for Alzheimer’s – at least not yet, but there were remedies and treatments that staved off the worst of it for a period of time, and besides her own son, it was her mind that Diana Reid prided herself on. Even if she couldn’t remember him, he wanted her to have some control over her own mind.

Scouting for helpful remedies was much more difficult than he could’ve possibly imagined, but eventually he found a place in Houston, Texas that was conducting a trial. If he could get her in, and she wasn’t on the placebo end of things, she might have a change for a more lucid, if not longer life, and at this point, that’s all either of them could hope for.

Hotch had been very accommodating when it came to giving him time off, but then like so many before him, he had to leave as well. Although it pained him to see another mentor go, this one he had understood more than most. With Scratch after Hotch, he could no longer risk the possibility that Scratch wouldn’t come after Jack, and with Haley already lost to one madman with a desire for driving Aaron Hotchner over the brink, Jack’s life stood above all else, so they went into witness protection in the hopes that Jack would live a long and fulfilling life. That left someone else from the team to step into the role of Unit Chief, and he couldn’t have picked anyone better than Emily. With her experience at Interpol and her experience with and love for the team, she was a perfect fit.

She excelled of course, and she also gave him all the time he needed to find accommodations for his mother. When he took off, he knew they were bringing in another agent, someone to fill the vacancy, but of course, not the shoes, of one of his best friends, Derek Morgan, but he hadn’t met the man yet, so today would be that day.

Finally back from setting his mother up in Houston, he was back at work. There were donuts on the conference room table when he walked in, and although life hadn’t been kind to him lately, he felt like things might’ve finally been on the upswing. His mother was in a great facility, and he was eating his favorite donut. What could possibly have been better? He nearly got lost in thought while he was waiting for the rest of the team to come in, but he was interrupted by deft footfalls.

When he turned around, he saw a man he presumed to be Luke Alvez, the new team member he hadn’t met yet. “No handshakes, right?” He asked, his smile wide and teeth whiter than snow. “Your reputation precedes you.”

“As does yours,” he said with a smile. “Dr. Spencer Reid.”

“Luke Alvez.”

Although he’d always considered himself attracted to both men and women, attracted to personality and intelligence above all else, he’d never found himself immediately attracted to a man. But as Luke stood in front of him, there was something about Luke that put him at ease. Before his mind could wander, the rest of the team came in and got them started on their case of the week, or weeks as sometimes the case had been.

Luke fit in very well with the team. He had a great relationship with Garcia, even though she would deny it until the cows came home. They’d bicker like brother and sister. Emily respected. He was great with Henry and Michael when he met them, so JJ loved him. Rossi and Stephen appreciated his expertise as well. After all, Rossi was the one who had convinced him to join the team in an official capacity. There was nothing about Luke Alvez that didn’t fit in well with the dynamic they already had going.

Spencer couldn’t tell if Emily had noticed the spark in his eyes when he first met Luke, or if it had just been convenient, but he and Luke had been paired off a number of times since he’d joined the team, and every time, he found himself rambling on and on about cases, TV shows, and really anywhere that his train of thought stopped, but the difference with Luke was that he always seemed to be listening – truly listening.

Any one could see that Spencer Reid loved his teammates and that his teammates loved him. They would bleed and had bled for each other, but not everyone truly understood or cared to understand Spencer’s ramblings, but Luke was different. Not only did he listen; he seemed truly interested in what he had to say. After a while, their car rides weren’t silent, like so many before them. Instead, on their way to witnesses’ houses and police departments, Luke would take the wheel and Spencer would sit in the passenger seat, talking in perpetuity about whether or not Steven Moffat would ever give The Doctor a real name (Spencer pondered this but Luke had never seen the show), whether Lord Petyr Baelish was a Faceless Man or not (something both firmly believed) or whether Ferris Bueller was just a figment of his friend Cameron’s imagination. They’d debate crazy fan theories about their favorite TV shows, both loved Game of Thrones, while Luke watched a show called Boardwalk Empire and Spencer, of course, watched Doctor Who.

Luke promised to introduce Spencer to Boardwalk Empire one day and in turn, he’d watch Doctor Who with Spencer, something he couldn’t even fathom. The only person who watched the time-traveling doctor with him was Garcia. Maybe he could get Luke and Garcia to come over and watch…or maybe not because they’d probably bicker like little kids.

Either way, it felt nice to have someone around that truly seemed interested in what he had to say, whether it was about work, or whether it was just about something that made him happy. Whenever Luke would look at him, his eyes wide with interest at his statistic of the hour, Spencer would feel little butterflies fluttering around his stomach. On top of him being kind and funny, Spencer couldn’t help but notice how handsome he was, and on more than one occasion, he’d found himself wondering what it would be like to fall asleep on his shoulder, comforted knowing that he was loved unconditionally. It was still in the back of his mind – that idea of long-lasting love, but it hadn’t fought to the front until he met Luke. He wondered if Luke felt the same or if it was one-sided.

Still – he didn’t really have time for that now.

For now, his mother needed him, and she’d taken a turn for the worse, so every few months he’d travel down to Mexico to procure the supplement that seemed to be helping his mother. It wasn’t illegal in the United States – not strictly, but it wasn’t exactly legal either, so he kept it under the radar. He knew he could lose his job for what he was doing, but there was nothing he wouldn’t risk for his mother, so long as she was alive.

Each time he went, he was careful. He talked to as few people as he could while still obtaining what he needed, but somewhere along the line, he took a wrong step and landed in Mexican jail cell accused of murder, which he knew he didn’t commit, but he also couldn’t remember a damn thing about the previous twelve hours.

Now, here he was, half-drugged on what, he wasn’t sure, with no remembrance of what happened the day before, accused of murder, and the only that mattered to him was getting back to his mother and the BAU – his home.

When, not if, he got out of this mess, he promised himself he’d do the one thing he’d always been so afraid of – he’d take a chance on love. Luke didn’t know how he felt, but Spencer had to know.

Shortly after being released from the prison in Mexico, he was granted trial in the United States and was set for arraignment. He couldn’t say he wasn’t worried, because of course he was, any sane man would be, but he knew he had his family at his back. JJ was helping him with his mother while he sorted this whole thing out, and Rossi had already said that he’d post bail whether it was $100,000 or Rossi had to sell his mansion to do it; he’d do it happily.

That’s why his heart nearly exploded as the gavel hit the table and he was denied bail. Turning back toward his friends had been the worst decision he’d made thus far. Seeing their helpless faces and knowing there was a decent chance he wouldn’t make it out of prison alive made him nearly collapse. The only things keeping him upright were the guards on either side of him.

On his way to the prison, he went numb. How could anyone believe they’d end up in a place like this? Especially someone like him. For more than a decade, he’d spent his days putting people behind bars, and now he was going there himself.

“You’re going to need to take that off,” the guard said, bringing out of his self-defeating thoughts and toward the bandage he’d had on for so many years.

Spencer had to ask for clarification. “What? I can’t.”

“Unless there is a medical reason for it to be there, which according to the in-house doctor, there isn’t, then it needs to come off.”

He swallowed hard, his mouth going dry at the prospect of taking the bandage off. When he did, he’d see the words – the ones that he’d been avoiding for years. As he unwrapped the bandage, he imagined what they might say. He both hoped and dreaded that they’d be the words he remembered.

And there they were.

~No handshakes, right? Your reputation precedes you.~

I’ve been watching Gargoyles

It’s a great show. Not a perfect one (what is?) but you can really see how it set the stage for basically all serialization in cartoons to come in the decades to follow. And if you haven’t watched it yet, and are a fan of animation, I highly recommend you do.

But this post isn’t really about Gargoyles. It’s more about writing in general.

You see, I was watching this one episode. In it, the main characters arrive in Ireland on a magical quest. They end up teaming up with a young adult named Rory, who’s rather standoffish and uncertain about his place in life… and then discovers he’s the avatar of an ancient warrior, who wields a spear of light to defeat an ancient evil.

You see, this plot bore a striking resemblance to that of the Young Wizards book ‘A Wizard Abroad’. In this one, the main characters arrive in Ireland on a magical quest. They end up teaming up with a young adult named Ronan, who’s rather standoffish and uncertain about his place in life… and then discovers he’s the avatar of an ancient warrior, who wields a spear of light to defeat an ancient evil.

So, yeah. Something similar there.

I was going to shrug it off. Presumably both pieces were based upon the same original Celtic folklore.

… and then the credits roll.

Both of them were written by Diane Duane. The book in 1993, the episode in 1996.

And honestly? I think I liked the episode more. I enjoyed the novel a fair amount, but it’s probably one of the weaker of the series, and this episode felt a lot tighter, and gave the avatar’s storyline the focus and weight it really needed.

So the whole point of this post? Don’t be afraid to reuse ideas. To have favourite tropes you like to revisit. You don’t need to try a plot once and then give up on it. You can work to build it better and better.

Awoken pt.2

A/n Here is part 2 lovelies

Warnings: Swearing probably and some fluff

My body felt heavy and cold as I squinted against a bright light.

“Y/n?” My heart raced. Steve? It hurt to open my eyes more, but I wanted to know if my mind was playing tricks on me.

“Steve?” The light that was shining in my eyes went away and a nurse was in front of me with Steve sitting at the foot of my bed.

“I can’t believe you’re here.” Steve told me smiling.

“Where is dad? Where is Peggy? What happened to the Hydra agents? How did we escape? How did you know where I was? Is dad ok?”

“Whoa whoa slow down a bit there kiddo. There is alot of explaining to do and I have to give it to you slowly because its a lot to take in.” Steve told me trying to calm me down. I looked around and there were strange things in the room. “I will give you the big news first before I answer all of you’re questions.”

“What big news? Steve where are we?” The nurse prodded at my back with her stethoscope.

“Breathe.” She instructed

“And why do I have a nurse inspecting me?”

“Y/n…. what was the last thing you remember?”

“Peggy and I were on a rescue mission to shut down a Hydra base where they were experimenting on people to create superhumans. I got cut off from Peggy and heard dad’s name and saw him. He…. he had a metal arm and then I was attacked from behind from a small ugly dude and I blacked out.”

“First of all, you are grounded for not telling us that you became an agent with Peggy. Second of all…. what happened was many decades ago.”

I looked at Steve like he was stupid. “This is one of you’re jokes isn’t. Oh you were out cold for years when in reality it’s only been like a week right? And we somehow ended up at Stark’s place? I’m guessing all the gadgets in this room are his inventions.”

“Y/n I’m not joking this time. Hydra froze you. You were frozen. I was frozen after defeating the main branch of Hydra and your dad was frozen as well. Its 2014. That is a tv.” He pointed to the thin rectangle on the wall.

My face dropped when I realized that he wasn’t joking. “Where is Peggy?” Steve sighed. She was gone. I never got to say goodbye to her. I screwed up our mission because I let my emotions interfere.

“You said dad was frozen too. Does that mean he’s still alive?”

“That’s actually why they woke you up. I didn’t even know that you were frozen.”

“Who is they?”

“A group called the Avengers. Mr.Stark’s son Tony is part of it and so are many others. They found you and woke you up because…. well Hydra had done some things to your dad. We’ve figured out that they had trigger words to make him act like… well go crazy and destroy things.”

“So where do I come into this?”

Steve stared at me blankly. “You’re taking this very well.”

“Steve my dad is alive and so are you. I mean I would’ve preferred that Peggy was here too, but I know that you’ve got my back.” He smiled.

“You’re going to be part of the Avengers. They woke you up because maybe you could snap your dad out of his trigger words long enough to get him back to the tower to make sure he won’t do damage again and have him join the Avengers as well.”

“Do they know where he might be?”

“Yea. You might want to get dressed first. There are some clothes in the bathroom for you. Warning though. Some of the fabrics are weird.”

I stood up and walked into the bathroom to change. He was right about the clothes

It was about a week before there was any news on dad and in that time I got to know all of the avengers. Nat took a liking to me right away and with her came along Clint. We practiced together and Nat showed me more modern moves that added to my skill set. Everyone started to help me settle into a life of technology. Mr.Stark’s son Tony had all the cool gadgets however so I was always hanging around him to see what new stuff he was doing. He was the one to actually pick up something on my dad.

“There!” He pointed at the screen from security footage. “He’s getting plums.”

“Well he’s an old man he’s probably having dietary issues.” I joked.

“He’s the same age he was when you two were frozen.”

“Yea ok where is he?”

“Pretty close actually. Go get ready we’re getting in the jet.”

Soon we were across the country in some slums.

“Everyone split up into pairs. He’s armed and dangerous. Y/n you’re with me.” Steve told everyone and we headed into a run down building.

“Do you think this is going to work?”

“It has to. It’s the only way to get Buck back without harming him.”

“And if it doesn’t?”

“Then we’ll have to use force.”

THUMP

“Did you hear that?” I asked him stopping on the stairs. There was quiet until the door next to me flew off its hinges and a figure came running out. Steve pushed passed me and ran after him. I got all the way to the roof before I caught up to them.

On the roof they were both putting up a good fight. Steve relied on his shield every time dad tried to hit him with his metal arm making Steve’s feet to dig into the roof.

“DAD!” I shouted across the roof and he kicked Steve in the stomach sending him flying then he started to walk over to me. He pulled a gun out of its holster and started to shoot at me. Quickly I dodged and flipped out of the way until he ran out of bullets.

“Dad stop. It’s me! Y/n! Your daughter!” I told him running towards him and met him in the middle with him swinging. I quickly maneuvered behind him and jumped on his back trying to hold his arms behind his head, but settled for his hair.

“You should really put your hair up or let me braid this shit dad.” I told him while staying on his back pulling on his hair. He kept swinging trying to get me until he finally decided to body slam me into the wall and before I could move he slammed his non metal arm into me causing me to double over.

He started to walk away as I spit blood.

“You know who I am don’t you? That’s why you didn’t kill me by hitting me with your metal arm.” I told him leaning against the rooftop wall for support while holding my stomach. He didn’t react.

“You are my sunshine.” I said and he stopped. “My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey.” He slowly turned to face me as I still held my stomach, but I kept going. He had to remember our song.

“You’ll never know dear how much I love you….”

“Please don’t take my sunshine away.” He finished and paused in front of me.

“Dad?”

“Y/n… I thought they killed you.” He wrapped his arms around me.

“We need to get you back to the tower to get your arm under control.”

“No Y/n I can’t… I can’t hurt any more people.”

“Dad I’ve seen the stuff Stark has. He can fix your arm and get rid of the words.”

“No you need to go you’re still just a kid.”

“Dad Uncle Steve can even vouch for me.”

“That’s true Bucky.” Steve walked over to us. “If not we can figure it out. Just come back with us. You can join the team and fight for good.”

He looked skeptical.

“Please don’t take my sunshine away.” I told him and he sighed and nodded.

I was finally going to have my dad back.

Now I want Maureen and Merle parallels. Plant loving, slightly ethically challenged (because according to the timeline, Lucas was doing his questionable bugbear brain experiments while his mom was around and she definitely knew about it) ultra-parental hippies into exploring the planes, who automatically took Lucretia under their wing.

Lucretia hanging out in Maureen’s gardens, watching her experiments with soulwood and thinking about how much Merle would love it. It’s a god plant! Merle silently handing her cool plants to draw, and then Maureen doing the same thing decades later. Lucretia comforting herself after Wonderland with the knowledge that now she looked as old as her two best friends. She’s finally not the baby in the room anymore. Biting her tongue when Maureen ranted about the planar system and cracking some of Merle’s old jokes to distract her from the very real danger there. Lucretia absently thinking about introducing the two of them in the future, when the Hunger is defeated and everything is better, and then immediately realizing what a terrible idea that was, holy cow. They would either murder each other or end up in a polyamourous relationship with the same tree and Lucas would never forgive her for that.

Merle coming to the moon and hitting on Lucretia and her realizing with a dull dread that she is horrible, middle-aged biologist bait now. She just attracts these people, apparently.

Even worse, Lucretia mourning Maureen and comforting herself with the fact that Merle was always pretty blase about death, then remembering that Maureen won’t come back.

ML Angst Week: Day 6: Confessions / Reveal

“I’m going away for some time, Chat.”

The words had been said, somewhat reluctantly, at the end of a patrol. He had looked at her, understandably surprised. “What do you mean?”

“Hawkmoth is defeated. Paris no longer needs us. I’m going away.”

He had sighed, shaking his head disbelievingly. They had been partners for half a decade, did she really think that she could deceive him that easily? “Something’s bothering you, Bugaboo. Hawkmoth’s been safely tucked behind bars for two years already. What are you running away from? Why now?”

Ladybug had carefully averted her gaze, her shoulders slumped. “I just can’t take it anymore, minou. I’m sorry.”

Emma took an unconscious step back, the sudden fear coursing through her system.  The Black Fairy was here.  The final battle was about to start.  She wasn’t ready; she hadn’t had time to prepare.  Who was she kidding?  She’d been training for 3 days! Just three freaking days.  Why the hell did she think she could go up against the strongest fairy in all the realms?

Strong arms closed around her waist, and Killian leaned down and whispered in her ear.  “You can do this, love.  We’re all behind you.  We’re all here to give you your best chance.”

Emma closed her eyes for a moment, basking in the love and confidence flowing from her True Love. His strength gave her strength. His confidence gave her confidence.

Releasing the breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding, Emma stepped out of his arms and looked the Black Fairy squarely in the eyes.  “Then I suppose my job is clear.  I have to defeat you.”

anonymous asked:

So I sent my LDR Daddy your blog, and he ended up saying he couldn't "provide for me" ... Is this a knee jerk reaction of fear, or intimidation, or did I really almost end up with a "no-show daddy" and maybe this is best to have him walk away? Thanks for everything - it's been a whirlwind of a ride these last few weeks.

It could be a number of things.. could be anxiety, a feeling of inferiority… etc…

I think a good amount of daddies that see me and what I do and how I am are honestly defeated by me before ever really scratching the surface. They dont take the time to properly realize that I have years and years of experience, that I was formally trained by two mentors who combined had decades of experience, that I have formally trained and mentored others, that I went out of my way to take college courses on my own dime to understand my lifestyle and myself better, that I have a hard regimen of discipline for myself, goals, standards, etc…

Its easy to look at the ivory tower and never think youll make it to the top.

But everyone should be their own person. I admire that other daddies want to be LIKE me… but they shouldnt want to BE me.. or look at me as some kind of unattainable goal of how a daddy should be.

I have simply put in the time and effort.. and that is something that anyone can do if determined and serious enough.

The Final Solution: A Call For Genocide From an American Jew

The following is an introduction to a modern edition of a book by Theodore N. Kaufman called Germany Must Perish, first published as early as 1940.

Introductory Note
by Mark Weber

Theodore N. Kaufman, the author of Germany Must Perish, was a Manhattan-born Jewish businessman who was also chairman of a group that called itself the “American Federation for Peace.” The first edition of this slim volume was published in 1940 or early 1941. A second, 96-page edition, which sold for 25 cents, was published in 1941 by Argyle Press of Newark, New Jersey. Both editions were issued when the United States was still officially neutral, that is, before the Pearl Harbor attack of December 7, 1941, that brought the U.S. openly into World War II.

Kaufman’s fervent proposal for the systematic sterilization of the entire German population was given respectful attention in the American press, including reviews in a number of newspapers. A review in the weekly Time magazine, March 24, 1941, called Kaufman’s plan a “sensational idea.”

Germany’s propaganda chief, Joseph Goebbels, seized with delight on the book. “This Jew [Kaufman] has done a disservice to the enemy,” Goebbels privately commented. “If he had composed the book at my behest he couldn’t have done a better job.”

At his direction the German press played up Kaufman’s call for genocide. A front page article about the book in the Berlin daily Der Angriff, July 23, 1941, appeared under headlines that called it a “Diabolical Plan for the Extermination of the German People” and a work of “Old Testament Hatred.” Extracts also appeared, for example, in the nationally-circulated weekly paper Das Reich, August 3, 1941.

A plan similar to Kaufman’s was issued during the war years by a prominent American anthropologist. In an article headlined “Breed War Strain Out of Germans” in the New York daily newspaper P.M., January 4, 1943, Ernest Hooton laid out an “outbreeding” plan that would “destroy German nationalism and aggressive ideology while retaining and perpetuating desirable German biological and sociological capacities.” (See also: Benjamin Colby, ‘Twas a Famous Victory, 1974, p. 131.)

The Harvard University professor’s proposal called for genetically transforming the German nation by encouraging mating of German women with non-German men, who would be brought into the country in large numbers, and of German men, forcibly held outside of Germany, with non-German women. Ten to twelve million German men would be assigned to forced labor under Allied supervision in countries outside of Germany to rebuild their economies. “The objects of this measure,” wrote Dr. Hooton, “include reduction of the birthrate of ‘pure’ Germans, neutralization of German aggressiveness by outbreeding and denationalization of indoctrinated individuals.”

This plan, Hooton estimated, would require at least 20 years to be implemented. “During this period,” he went on, “encourage also the immigration and settlement in the German states of non-German nationals, especially males.”

In the decades since the end of World War II, something of the spirit of the genocidal Kaufman and Hooton plans seems manifest in Germany’s population and immigration policies. Since the nation’s defeat in 1945, the German birth rate has fallen to below the replacement level, millions of racially and culturally alien migrants have been welcomed as settlers in Germany, the number of children of mixed ethnicity has sharply increased, and the ethnic-cultural character of much of the country has been drastically altered, especially in the larger cities.

Christopher Nolan’s drive for authenticity with “Dunkirk” led him to bring the cast and crew of his World War II epic to the very beaches in France where Allied forces snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Even though the fighting ended decades and generations ago, there were still land mines and other live explosive devices lining the shoreline and the harbor.

“Every time we’d need to do one of our explosions, we’d do a controlled explosion first to see if it would set off anything,” Nolan said during a question and answer session at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday. “When you think about how long ago it is, it was very sobering in terms of the lingering impact of these kind of events.”

Nolan was on hand to celebrate IMAX’s 50th anniversary (the drama is shot using the company’s cameras). The event comes, as the director and Warner Bros., the studio behind “Dunkirk,” are in the midst of the film’s Oscar campaign. The picture was a box office smash, earning nearly $500 million globally. It also received some of the best notices of Nolan’s career, with buzz mounting that the director behind “Inception” and “The Dark Knight” could land his first best director Academy Award nomination.

Nolan’s demand for authenticity didn’t just extend to his locations. He also outfitted real tankers, putting his actors in the kind of ships they would have been on as they tried to cross the English Channel with Nazi forces at their back.

“You could make a period perfect CG version [of a ship], but it wouldn’t feel as real,” Nolan said. “We felt that the matchup, the patina that computer graphics have is a very poor match for this kind of imagery from World War II.”

Nolan believes that his job as a director is to try to recreate as closely as possible what it must have been like to be in the thick of battle. It benefits the performances, he said. That meant that when actors like Fionn Whitehead and Harry Styles are hovering under aerial bombardment, they’re not doing it in the comfort of a studio.

“When those boys are out there on those beaches and explosions are going off, they’re going off,” said Nolan. “There’s no green screen. They’re in it.”

“Dunkirk” is an experiential epic. It spends little time dissecting the political and military situation that led to evacuation. Instead the film plunges viewers into the heat of battle as they accompany scores of young soldiers in a desperate struggle for survival. Nolan felt that the best way to achieve his desired impact was to avoid getting bogged down in exposition.

“I wanted to just put people there on the beach, put them in the cockpit of a spitfire,” he said, adding, “I didn’t want to cut to generals in rooms moving things around on maps. … When you look at the great World War II movies from the past, that tends to be the thing that dates them.”

The film also plays with time in unique ways. One section unspools over the course of a week and follows English soldiers as they wait for transport. Another is set on a ship, over the course of a single day, as English volunteers from across the country sail out to help rescue troops. The last section follows a pilot (Tom Hardy) as he flies out to shoot down Nazi planes and give the English troops cover to evacuate. That final section is set over the course of an hour. Toronto Film Festival artistic director Cameron Bailey asked Nolan if he was worried that the intersecting time frames would be too confusing.

“Well, it’s like f— it,” Nolan said. “It’s my job as a writer-director to try to be the audience for the film.”

The distance nature of the film’s pacing is central to its appeal, he maintained.

“We all want to see interesting and exciting things in movies,” Nolan said. “We all want to see a story that’s a little bit different from what you saw last week in a movie theater. I’ve carved out a little freedom for myself to do that within the studio system. I feel a great responsibility to always be pushing boundaries.”

“Dunkirk” reunites Nolan with Hardy, who played Bane, the mask-wearing antagonist of Batman, in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Once again, Hardy’s face is obscured for much of the film as he engages in aerial standoffs.

“Nobody works with a mask like Tom Hardy,” said Nolan.
