Snow (A Tribute: Twilight)

You had left a simple note saying you were leaving for an adventure and hadn’t returned since, that was before World War One. none of had heard from you since but has received minor details that you were still very much alive from Alice and Demetri. You were gone not long after Carlisle found out you were his biological child. You were the closest thing he and Esme had to their own child. It broke his heart to think that you were so far from him. This would be the 76th year. The 76th year and Christmas you were gone. Carlisle’s friends, even the Volturi, decided to visit for the holiday, hoping to lift his spirits.

Esme would send you letters to the last known address you stayed that and never received a response. As far as they knew, that house was empty, but she continued to send them as closure. In the most recent, she wrote how much they had missed you so for the past few years, how’d they’d love a response. They’d be celebrating Christmas, it would be Renesmee’s second ever Christmas. They’d love to spend it with you. You received an invite but they’d understand if you never showed. They sent their love.
The Cullens didn’t know you returned every now and then to that house you owned to collected every letter sent to you. You read and kept every one but never responded. You smiled at every letter that was packed tight with love.

Your boots crunched against the snow, your hands in your pockets as you trudged through the trees, snow falling and some landing on your hair. Christmas lights illuminated the houses you passed hearing laughter and childish glee. You couldn’t stop yourself taking a glance at some of the houses seeing the families huddled around one another. You smiled, it really was the most wonderful time of the year.

Carlisle caught the sympathetic looks Marcus gave him upon occasion and nodded in reassurance. He was finding it more and more difficult to keep a smile on his face as he did every year. he watched as the Covens mingled in chatter and even joined in at times. Many were entertained by how animated Renesmee was with her gifts and the Christmas spirit.

Just about everyone turned when someone turned the corner, they hadn’t heard anything from outside. A few gasped to see you and Carlisle rose from his seat. You looked at everyone in the room slightly surprised. The Cullens broke into smiles first. You were suprised that Renesmee who you were as she quickly ran up to you hugging your legs calling your name. You were surprised but hugged her, giving her back a brief rub.

Esme moved forward to greet you with a hug. “We’re so glad you’re here.” “I am too.” Your eyes travelled to Carlisle from Esme’s shoulder. Esme let you go and stepped away from you as Carlisle moved forward. You gave him a knowing smile, you knew he didn’t know what to say. “Happy Christmas dad.”
“…Merry Christmas.” He said before pulling you into his chest in a tight hug as though feared you’d disappear again.

sekhmet · goddess of war and destruction

Sekhmet was the lioness-headed goddess of war and destruction. She was the sister and wife of Ptah. She was created by the fire of Re’s eye. Re created her as a weapon of vengence to destroy men for their wicked ways and disobedience to him. She is generally portrayed as a woman with the head of a lioness surmounted by the solar disk and the uraeus. The name “Sekhmet” comes from the root sekhem which means “to be strong, mighty, violent”. She was identified with the goddess Bastet, and they were called the Goddesses of the West (Sekhmet) and the East (Bastet). Both were shown with the heads of lionesses

“Come on Ben! Make the wave bigger, what do you think we bring you for?” You called to Benjamin who had become one of your best friends since the whole Volturi incident, along with his mate Tia.

“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea Y/N.” He yelled back, worry colouring his tone.

“Why not? Afraid you’ll drown?” You mocked.

Turns out, you really shouldn’t mock the guy who controls the water.

anuket · water goddess of elephantine

Anuket was originally a water goddess from Sudan. Her name meant, “to embrace” which was interpreted to mean that her embrace during the annual Nile floods fertilized the fields. Later, she became a goddess of lust, whose attributes and cult were obscene. However, her cult’s origins can be traced back to the Old Kingdom. She is closely associated with Nubia. She is not an imported goddess though. Anuket was generally depicted as a woman wearing a tall headdress made either of reeds or of ostrich feathers, often holding a sceptre and the ankh symbol, but was occasionally shown in the form of a gazelle.

“Amun, if you want to go, no one is forcing you to stay,’ Carlisle said calmly.

“You’re stealing half my coven, Carlisle!” Amun shrieked, stabbing one finger at Benjamin. “Is that why you called me here? To steal from me?

Carlisle sighed and Benjamin rolled his eyes.

“Yes, Carlisle picked a fight with the Volturi, endangered his whole family, just to lure me here to my death,” Benjamin said sarcastically. “Be reasonable, Amun. I’m committed to do the right thing here - I’m not joining any other coven. You can do whatever you want, of course, as Carlisle has pointed out.”

….He turned on Benjamin. “I gave you life. You’re wasting it.”

Benjamin’s face looked colder than I’d ever seen it; the expression contrasted oddly with his boyish features. “It’s a pity you couldn’t replace my will with your own in the process; perhaps then you would have been satisfied with me.”

Amun’s eyes narrowed. He gestured abruptly to Kebi, and they stalked past us out the front door.

You were scribbling away working on your homework before you began to drum your pen on your paper. Your face scrunched up and Garrett moved his away from Kate’s side and leaning over your shoulder. He glanced at your textbook and then your paper. “Yeah, kid, that’s the right one.”

Your face turned red as you muttered a ‘thanks’ and offered a smile.

“Okay, I wasn’t going to say anything…” Bella turned towards you. “You barely say a sentence to Carlisle’s friends, why? You’re not shy.”

“Of course I do,” you objected. “When the Romanians arrived, I said ‘hi, pleased to meet you.’ That’s a sentence in itself…with a phrase in there.”

“you’re deflecting.” Bella said swiftly.

“fine, I have crippling self-esteem. What on earth do I have to make stimulating conversation with several centuries year old vampires?”

“That’s silly.” Benjamin grinned pulling up a chair beside you.

“oh?” You turned to Renesmee. “Hey Nessie.” You called and she turned to you. You raised your pencil and shook it. “The pencil is now rubber.” Renesmee giggled in awe at the now wiggly pencil. “Now…” You said as you turned to Vladimir on the opposite side, doing the same. His blank expression remained as he looked down at the pencil before back up at you. “see? He knows the painful truth, he can even keep up with the pencil. How could any of you find anything I had to say interesting?”

Bella put her face in her hand trying to hide her smile.

You were gathered around with a few other nomads, chatting about the best spots to feed while in Forks. You froze suddenly when you felt a small tug in your chest. Your lips curved into a frown and you turned around to see Carlisle and Esme come back with another coven. Nothing of import.
