I have something to say

I love Dear Evan Hansen with all my heart. I love the fandom a lot less though. Why? The shippers. I don’t know about you, but the show means a lot more to me than the ships. So why are we arguing and putting people down about them. Seriously. Is Dear Evan Hansen not about acceptance and understanding those around us? The least we can do as a fandom is put down our petty issues and just get along.

Sure maybe you don’t like a ship, that’s fine no one should forcing you to! Maybe you don’t like a character, that’s also okay! But is it not a little pathetic that this fandom is warding off people because of the shipping discourse? Yes, I have my notps, but I’m not openly complaining about them and sticking them in the tags WHILE putting people down. That’s not cool.

It doesn’t matter if you ship Kleinsen, Tree Bros, Connman, Sincerely Three, Zoe and Evan, Zoe and Jared, Galaxy Girls (zolana) or any other ship, there are way better things to discuss and debate other than ships.

You are welcome to complain about them, really it’s your opinion! BUT can we please avoid discourse and not tag anti stuff in ship or main tags? Not to mention avoid insulting shippers?

For example!
Instead of Tree Bros write Tr*e Bros.
Instead of Kleinsen write Kle*nsen
Instead of Zolana write Z*lana

Because no matter how much you hate a ship, is it really worth scaring new fans away? Or starting discourse? No, it isn’t.

Can we please just take a step back and actually realize how little shipping actually matters in comparison to the show? Please feel free to message me or add onto here. I just want the shipping discourse to stop.

10 Things I Hate About You AU

Zoe just wants to go on a date to the school dance with the cute girl in her class. That’s literally all she wants. But she’s not allowed to date anyone unless her brother dates someone. Which makes her entire endeavour a fruitless one, because Connor would much rather NOT interact with anyone, let alone date.

Jared overhears Zoe’s woes and offers her a potential fix - for a price (”Two Grand” “Two thousand dollars?” “Five hundred.” “Look, I got a hundred on me.” “Holy shit.”) and thus begins Jared’s quest of getting Connor and Evan together.

It starts with him just awkwardly putting them in situations together and then abandoning Evan. Then Evan starts catching feelings and it is a Big Problem.

Connor and Evan go out and skip school.
Evan gets to meet the Soft Connor that no one else gets to see.
Evan helps Connor sneak out of detention and they go on a cute date.
They definitely sneak into the orchard.
Connor has no idea why he’s just letting this random guy in.

Meanwhile, Zoe is off having a grand ol’ time being tutored by Alana and flirting endlessly.

By the time Homecoming comes around, Evan is like head over heels and really nervously asks Connor to go to the dance with him. Connor rejects him which like.. kills Evan inside. But then Zoe is like “please c’mon I’ll never bug you every again if you just say yes” and Connor gives in and texts Evan to apologize and say yes, he will go.

When Connor finds out that Jared set up the whole thing at the dance, he thinks Evan is in on it and explodes on everyone. Evan has a full blown panic attack and Jared’s like… oh shit, I fucked up.

Connor actually does his homework assignment for once and it’s super emo and sad but instead of leaving after reading his poem he sits down and glares at Evan. Evan volunteers to read his next which shocks everyone because! Anxiety!

He stands up and reads it and breaks down crying through it. And then has a panic attack and Connor realizes that Evan was a victim as much as he was and Evan’s feels are real.

They kiss and make up and everything is good.

lamsforlams  asked:

Could you write a connor x evan where no one knows their dating and Zoe, Alana, Jared, Connor, and Evan are eating lunch and Zoe, Alana, and Jared notice a hickie on Evans neck and they freak out and him and connor ars super embarrassed

When Evan and Connor became a thing, they decided against telling anyone. They knew their friends would be overbearing if they did tell them. So they thought it was just better to keep the relationship between themselves.

The day had gone by normally. The two boys went to classes and ended up eating lunch with their friends. Zoe, Alana and Jared were all still in dark about the relationship between the two boys.

“So I was like Mr. Bellden, with all due respect I believe I deserved one hundred percent on this project-” Alana was in the midst of her story when Jared cut her off.

“Evan is that a hickey!” Jared gasped as he saw the small purple bruise poking out from Evan’s collar.

Evan blushed. “N-no it’s not!”

Zoe’s eyes widened as she saw part of the little bruise. “Oh my god Evan! Who the hell gave you a hickey!” Zoe was in utter shock. Evan had a boyfriend or girlfriend? Why didn’t he tell them?

“Evan, I didn’t expect this from you of all people!” Alana was shocked.

Connor had to hide his blush, holy fuck. Evan was right he should not have given him a hickey in that spot. “Wait a second! Connor are you blushing too! Are you the one who gave Evan that hickey!” Jared laughed.

“Oh my god ew, no.” Zoe gagged. The thought of her brother and Evan dating was weird to her.

“You guys! What the heck!” Alana covered her face.

Both Evan and Connor were super embarrassed. They’d done so well with hiding their relationship but a little hickey was enough to make the two teens all flustered and embarrassed.

Jared, Alana and Zoe were all still freaking out and making fun of them

“I hate you so much.” Evan muttered as he covered his face.

“I hate myself too don’t fucking worry.” Connor grumbled back, the blush still evident on his pale cheeks.

The Breakfast Club AU

- Somehow Evan, Connor, Zoe, and Jared end up in detention on Saturday morning.
- Alana’s there too but she’s not in detention. She’s probably doing work for extra credit or something.
- They’re all super different obviously. Connor’s a rebel. Evan’s a social outcast, Alana’s geekish, Zoe’s spoilt and popular, and Jared’s… well, Jared.
- Zoe and Connor are super pissed at having to be in detention together.
- Zoe and Alana giving each other make overs!!
- Connor getting everyone high!! Evan flips out.
- Connor admits to wanting to kill himself and Zoe gets upset, not realizing how much her brother’s been hurting.
- Evan confessing to everyone that he let go.
- Alana admitting her insecurity of having no friends.
- Evan overcoming some of his anxiety as he learns about his peers! And falls for Connor

I honestly don’t really know, anyone wanna add anything?

My take on the fandom...

There has been some…things addressed about tree bros taking over the message in Dear Evan Hansen. It’s frustrating people and I know I’m getting frustrated too. I post a lot of stuff for them, but my heart really lies with the actual show. It’s got so many important issues that are finally addressed and that’s what I love about it. I know I have a lot of tree bros here but it’s mainly a band aid that I can rip off when I’m feeling mentally stable enough.

Dear Evan Hansen made me look at my own life and for a little while I went into a tail spin. I have really terrible anxiety and am really really toxic to others when I’m upset. I say things I don’t mean and things I do mean. It’s a lot like homestuck to me. It’s harsh and heartbreaking so the ships are a little band aid and corner of happiness for the fandom.

Either way it’s a bandaid, just a little covering to try and heal the sadness in the show, you can’t just ignore it though. Tree Bros is great but please
Don’t let tree bros drown out the important things about Dear Evan Hansen.

BUT do not be too upset at those that do love tree bros. I mean well, it’s just a comfort thing… If you have any questions please message me or ask me so I can answer publicly.

Connor and Zoe are fire nation. Possible children of a noble family. Connor is really good at his firebending when he feeds it with his anger like Zuko, but whenever he’s not angry it comes across rather lazily. He just doesn’t care to find anything else to fuel it. Zoe is the perfect child, and her firebending is nearly flawless, though she has issues with her anger sometimes too.

Jared is Earth Nation. His parents put him through bending lessons and sent him to summer camps for benders. He lies to them a lot and sneaks away to participate in tournaments, which he’s actually pretty good at when he does get cocky/distracted while gloating/making fun of his competition.

Alana’s from the northern Water Tribe. She grew up learning how to heal and any other expectations that would fall under being a waterbending woman. She constantly strives for more though, has that desire to learn and constantly grow, so she spies on the boys during their lessons and mimics them until she masters waterbending.

And then there’s Evan, our avatar. Born an airbender, he is raised by the monks. But he struggles - he is often too anxious to really go with the flow. He masters airbending, of course, or at least the motions. It’s not until he begins learning the other elements that he is able to truly use his powers to the best of his ability.

Fairly young, he’s sent to the water tribe to begin his avatar training. He meets and befriends Alana, who sort of just ends up attaching herself to him, involving herself in the duties of an Avatar. She’s not his water bending master but he can’t say she’s not a teacher. He learns she faces her own anxieties and shows him he’s not alone. They celebrate their wins, and when he leaves to go study earth bending, no one’s even surprised that she just invites herself alone. No one resists.

They’re 14 when they meet Jared, and he’s scathingly sarcastic. He boasts about his skill, sometimes too much, and it gets him in trouble. When Evan gets frustrated with earth bending because it’s SO different from his element, he ends up turning to Jared for help. And Jared does help, in lots of ways. And he helps Jared, who has never really had a genuine friend before.

They make their way to the fire district at 17. They are introduced to the fire bending prodigy Zoe Murphy to be Evan’s master. But somehow, no matter how long and hard they study, Evan’s not learning. He can’t reach down inside himself and find the flame. It’s not that she’s a bad teacher, but she’s not relatable like Alana with her anxiety and Jared with his social isolation.

And then he and Connor find each other. And they help each other because out of everyone, their mental state affects their bending the most. And they get close, and Connor is able to face some of his issues and find a flame that isn’t fueled by fire. And Evan is able to understand that his emotions can feed into his power when he controls them, instead of fearing them.

Additionally, the adorable friendships within the group. Firebending Zoe falling head over heels for Waterbending Alana - they learn to fight together in a beautiful mix of fire and water. Alana and Connor becoming best friends, Alana has seen Connor at his worst and used her waterbending to fix him up when he hurts himself. Jared and Connor being super sarcastic at each other and constantly throwing harmless pebbles/sparks at each other.

ALSO, Evan stimming with waterbending, it really helps with his anxiety. Watching Connor firebend is also relaxing. Earth isn’t the same because it’s so different from his native element.
