the boulders inn

Summer wanderlust is setting in. We asked local photographer Cindy Loughridge to take us along on her annual summer trip to Telluride.

“Every June, my family travels to Telluride to attend the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. On the way, we always try to hit a different national park. This year’s journey begins at the Vegas airport, where we rent a car and drive to Zion in Southern Utah

After spending the day hiking around Zion National Park, we stop at the nearby town of Boulder to stay at the Slot Canyon Inn. In Boulder is the coolest coffeehouse you’ll ever see: Kiva Koffeehouse is built right into a rock outcropping in middle of nowhere, right by the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument. It’s surreal

Our last stop before we head into Colorado is Sorrel River Ranch in Moab, an oasis surrounded by red cliffs and the Colorado River. After that, it’s 9,000 ft up to Telluride to prepare for the festival.”
