the big flub

I see you're on team Sanders! (cool!) What are your main reasons for not supporting Clinton?

  • Clinton has opposed gay marriage for over a decade while Sanders has supported it for much longer. Not to mention that Clinton started selling shit with a rainbow-colored version of her logo immediately after the Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage. Seems like something a corporation would do to appeal to young folk. Get in on that hype, y’know?
  • Clinton’s initial response to the terrorist attack in Charleston (“all lives matter”) was weak as shit. Sanders, on the other hand, didn’t waste time with wishy-washy stuff and called out the racism that’s still ingrained in our society.
  • Clinton claims to support finance reform, but for over a decade, she has accepted donations from some of the biggest banks in the world, including Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. And of course, as we already know, Sanders has outright refused donations from sources like these.
  • Clinton seems to flip-flop quite a bit on instituting single-payer health care. Meanwhile, just a couple years ago, Sanders sponsored legislation for a “Medicare-for-All” single-payer system.
  • Clinton voted for the Patriot Act in 2001 and for its reauthorization in 2005/2006. Sanders, however, consistently voted against it.
  • While Clinton has supported making public college “more affordable”, Sanders has supported making it free. As someone who just graduated high school, this is probably the most important thing for me at the moment.

I have more reasons, of course, but these are just a few that come to mind, and I don’t want to make this answer too long. While I’d love to have a female president, Clinton doesn’t cut it for me. I’d rather vote for Elizabeth Warren if and when she decides to run.

If it clarifies anything, I’m also a Socialist.
