As long as you can focus your energy and set your intention your spell should work, so I’ve designed these 5 spells using just one word for a Witch who needs a quick fix.
Used to calm a temper or an upset person. From the latin word for sea, mare, and the english word tranquil. Essentially you are calling the sea inside them to be still. For better results cast with wet hands.
Used for faster transport. I use it at the train station to have a shorter wait time but really its designed for traffic lights. By combining uni from universe and vert, the french word for green, you’re essentially asking the universe to make your path green.
Used to go unnoticed or invisible. Taken from the english words vision and hidden. For best results chant it softly while visualising yourself turning transparent.
Used when you just need someone to shut the f**k up but are too polite to say so. Taken from the Latin words lapis and magna, meaning stone and voice. For best results hold a stone or some earth while casting, if they’re really pissing you off just throw the stone or dirt at them.
Used to strike up a conversation or to continue a conversation. Taken from the French word bavarder, which means chat, and the Latin word ignis, which means fire. Basically you’re asking for the conversation to spark or catch fire. For best results flick a lighter in your pocket or light a match.
Literally anyone: they don’t make cartoons like they used to :/
Me: DARN TOOTIN THEY DON’T. We’re in a renaissance of American animation with some of the best cartoons we’ve ever had. I’m talkin art styles, I’m talkin clever and heartfelt writing, I’m talkin voice actors, I’m talkin diverse casts and characters, I’m talkin new animation techniques. All I watch is cartoons and I’ve got a list of shows for you to watch if you think kids don’t have quality shows to watch these days. And if you think they’re only enjoyable for kids, then woooo boy I’ve got some shows for you.
Wording a spell correctly is extremely important! We’ve all heard the stories of someone who cast a spell and technically had it come true, but in a way that wasn’t what they actually wanted at all! Here’s a list of common “loopholes” spells will take to get the job done, and how to make sure you get what you want!
🕯Taking its time- “I want money,” you tell the Universe, hoping to get some help with rent. Well, rent comes and there’s no extra cash in sight! Then, two weeks later, a surprise wad of cash all but lands in your lap. The spell came true, but not in time for when it mattered. This is easily fixed by adding “…by the end of the month,” or specifying what the money is for, which in this case was this month’s rent.
🕯No help needed- “I want money,” you say again. Magic will often take the path of least resistance, so if you’ve already got a paycheck on the way, the spell might not do much besides make sure it doesn’t get lost. There. Money. It can be good to specify that you want your spell to work in addition to everything you’re already doing!
🕯 Bare minimum- This time from your money spell, it arrives on time from an unexpected source! But it’s a quarter you found on the ground. Maybe three quarters. Not much help! If your intent would require the money to be close to a certain amount or any other specific like that, let it be known! The universe isn’t there to make assumptions.
🕯 For the worst- Let’s say you have two friends that have been flirting, so you cast a nice little spell to let any mutual interest between them blossom into a relationship and save them some trouble. It happens, but it turns out they do NOT work well with each other. They are interested in each other, but argue constantly and bring out the worst in each other. The relationship is hurting them both. You had the absolute best of intentions, but there was no way of knowing that would happen! This is why a lot of witches include the phrase, “for the highest good” in their spells, as a failsafe for any unexpected pitfalls like this that may be lurking. The universe will see them but doesn’t know to care unless you specify.
🕯Another layer- Once I made a dream bear to bring me more dreams. Well, I had lots more dreams, but couldn’t remember any of them! I didn’t think that was something I needed to specify. Make sure you hit every point you need to be satisfied with a result.
As a general rule, if my spell includes a prayer or petition of any sort, I take a few minutes and comb through it for stuff like this beforehand. What am I specifying? What am I leaving up to interpretation? Could any of that manifest in a way I would be unhappy with? Take a little time before you start casting to smooth out all those wrinkles! Best of wishes!
So you want to cast a spell to do a certain thing but the Google overlords are letting you down with being unable to find something that fits your exact needs? Well may I suggest weaving your very own spell together to do the thing?
It can be daunting to make your own spell, especially if your new or have some idea that everything must follow strict rules.
This list can be adapted to fit any type of ‘Crafting a person might practice. This are not hard rules, bend them in whatever direction you need them to go in order to fit into your situation.
What do you want to happen? In your spell book, or online doc, write down what you want this spell to accomplish.
Pick the method of casting to best achieve results. Sigils are great for slow release spells, jars and satchels are best for area of effect spells, jewelry for enchantments, etc.
Research. Look online for similar spells, what do others use for theirs? What do you want to change?
Decide what you need for your spell. If you’re making a jar spell, gather ingredients that you already have to use in the spell. This means researching different meanings and uses of objects. Raid your spice cabinet, most of what’s in there fills out a large list of spell types.
Keep it simple. Don’t over complicate things, the more items you add to a spell the more ways it has of going wrong. And the universe is kinda a dick so there will be things that go wrong.
Don’t be afraid to ask an object if it’ll loan you it’s energy to your spell. If you’ve got a glass jellyfish and you’re casting an stinging curse it’s okay to ask it to help you.
Create the energy key. You know those words people make you chant 3 times over a glass of whatever? That’s an energy key. It’s focusing your intent + energy and pushing it into the universe path to make it pay attention. Key’s don’t have to be long and complex. If all you want is ‘The best mac and cheese’ make that your key. If haiku’s are more your thing use that. Once the key is made you can use it again and again later because you’re inserting it’s blueprint into the universe at this moment. Sigils are the picture version of an energy key.
Craft the object for the spell. Mix your ingredients, draw the sigil, stuff the jars. The ingredients should compliment the energy key’s purpose in life.
Weave, draw, whisper, or however else your energy key onto the object from step 7.
Congrats! You’ve made a spell!
Make more, write notes, test results, experiment. And most importantly don’t force yourself to fit in a square if you happen to be more octagonal shaped. Meaning, do what feels right not what the internet says is best.
Oh, and clean between ‘crafting. Types of energy can be stick and you don’t want that curse goo messing with luck enchantments.

“Girls Trip” is confirming what we already knew: movies starring black women can crush it at the box office.
In an exceedingly rare accomplishment for comedies, the movie earned an estimated $30.8 million over the weekend.
The R-rated comedy from director Malcolm D. Lee features friends heading to the Essence Festival and stars four black women: Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish.
A scene from “Girls Trip.” (Michele K. Short/Universal Pictures)
The movie’s success comes as debates about diversity in Hollywood continue to gain steam. And the past couple of years have shown that although Hollywood traditionally undervalues movies with black and female leads, it is only to their peril.
“Hidden Figures”, with a cast led primarily by black women, was the highest grossing film of all the movies nominated for Best Picture in the 2017 Oscars.
So I just went through and unfollowed like 60 (yikes) inactive blogs and I’ve noticed lately that my dash is a bit empty. I have a lot more time to be on Tumblr now that it’s summer, and I’d love to follow some new blogs!
Please reblog if you post mostly or completely:
Marvel - i.e. The Avengers, GOTG, MCU in general. Comics are great too, but no Hydra Cap, please.
Stucky (especially if you’re a big Stucky blog, I’m always looking for good Stucky centric blogs to follow)
Any other Marvel cast members (Hayley Atwell, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, etc.)
These are the things I mostly post, so I’d love to follow some new blogs consisting of that which are also generally active. So like I stated above, please reblog and I’ll be happy to check out your blog in the next day or two. :)

For 30 years since Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman film, Warner Bros. had a hand in every major DC Comics property film. That relationship will officially come to an end with 2019′s The Batman, the last film starring Ben Affleck in the role.
This comes as a surprise despite murmurs of fan dissatisfaction with the current DC cinematic universe. According to DC CEO Denise Sieyo, “Warner did an amazing job with DC films but we need to start fresh. The current wave of this cinematic universe will be completed, and then we’ll move on.” This news means the cancellation of several films including Suicide Squad 2, Cyborg, and TheGreen Lantern Corps.
The move comes after a harsh year of fan discontent, with millions taking to the internet to berate choices such as the casting of Ben Affleck, the dark tone of Zack Snyder’s visions for the Justice League, and the Suicide Squad movie, which did well at the box office and even won an Oscar for Best Makeup, but was critically loathed and saw many fans aghast. The move is mutual according to Warner CEO and last surviving Warner brother Brian Hugh Warner.
More surprising is the upcoming DC plan. Having left Warner, the comic superpower will team up with its next studio: Marvel Studios. Said Sieyo, “Marvel has been doing pretty well and we thought, hey, why not just turn it over to them?” The move has shocked comic fans globally, but executives for both companies claim the move will mark the dawn of a new era in comic cinema. With Marvel fully taking over the creative direction of the DC universe, producers are confident that the next DC film world will focus more on fun and entertainment, rather than the more serious films to date. Stan Lee will also provide cameos for DC Universe films, and a crossover between the Justice League and the Avengers is already in early stages of development.
“It will be a huge undertaking with a budget of over $350 Million dollars,” said Marvel Studios head Mark Sussudio, “And it will need to have an amazing classic of a villain to fight both the Justice League and the Avengers at the same time. Thankfully, our parent company also owns the rights to Star Wars. That’s right.”
Avengers v Justice League v Darth Vader: Dawn of the Guardians of the Galaxy Far Far Away Part 1: Mirror of Fate is planned for a March 2023 release.
While I really believe that Yellow Diamond is innocent in Pink
Diamond’s death… I’m having way too much fun reading the
theories about Yellow shattering Pink out of jealousy because she
wanted Blue Diamond all to herself. :P I’m also reminded that
Patti Lupone played the best Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd.
“Yes I lied ‘cause I love you/I’d be twice the wife she
was/I love you/Could that thing have cared for you like me?”
So nothing can really make up for Great Comet closing but even so I have a wishlist of how the universe can make it up to me:
1. Pro-shot. Original Broadway Cast. At least part of which is filmed using GoPros strapped to actors’ heads.
2. A tour that starts as soon as possible and runs for years, coming to whatever city I’m living in multiple times.
3. All of the artists involved in the Broadway production (actors, musicians, crew, etc) getting great work always for the rest of their careers.
4. The show getting revived as soon as can be reasonably permitted, backed by diverse producers who market it well, and winning best revival.
5. The community collectively admitting that the whole situation was complicated and acknowledging that this show has done so many good things for theatrical diversity in nearly every form and did not deserve this bullshit ending.
6. Rachel Chavkin and Amber Gray winning Tonys for the Hadestown transfer that I am going to will into existence if I have to.
7. And while we’re on the subject of Hadestown, the universe can give me that complete live Off-Broadway cast recording whenever it’s ready.
Holy Representation, Batman! You may have just heard that Star Trek Discovery is happening and it has a black woman as the lead, and Asian woman as the captain, and a confirmed interracial/interspecies gay couple, and you’re gunna watch!
Perhaps you want to start Star Trek now, but shit, there’s 13 movies, seven separate tv shows, all ranging somewhere between 3-7 seasons of 45 min episodes, plus there’s all those comics and novels.
First of all, if you don’t want to do anything other than Discovery, THAT IS 1701% OK. DO NOT LET GATE KEEPING BULLSHIT KEEP YOU FROM ENJOYING THINGS.
But if you do want to start, here’s my recommendations. Other people may have their opinions, but here’s mine.
Start with the movies, sorta. It’s much easier to get through all the movies than all the seasons. But, I say sorta, because don’t actually watch Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The first movie is just, well, it’s not great, and there isn’t enough plot to justify sitting through it. One day, for kicks and giggles, go back and watch, but for now, leave it alone.
What you’re gunna do is replace the first Star Trek movie with a few episodes of The Original Series (TOS).
You’re gunna do:
Space Speed (Season 1, ep 22)
City on the Edge of Forever (season 1, ep 28)
Amok Time (Season 2, ep 1)
Journey to Babel (Season 2, ep 10)
If you wanna toss one out to get to the movies faster, City on the Edge of Forever isn’t like, super plot important, but it’s generally considered one of the best episodes of all the series, and I think it’s really good for understanding characterization.
THEN START THE MOVIES
You’re gunna watch 2-6, and then I’d recommend pausing. You can just keep going, but I’m gunna suggest a few The Next Generation (TNG) episodes first before you move onto movies 7-10.
Q Who (Season 2, ep 16)
Best of Both Worlds part 1&2 (Season 3, ep 26, Season 4, ep 1)
Chain of Command part 1&2 (Season 6, ep 10-11)
The last one is similar to The City on The Edge of Forever. I think one more is best for understanding the characters moving forward, and this is a great ep for that, also it does my favorite Star Trek thing, which is discuss reverent political issues (use of torture in this case) while also getting you acquainted with the Cardassians, who will be around more in Deep Space Nine (DS9). But if you’re eager to get back to the movies, go ahead with the rest of the movies.
Movies 7-10 are all with the TNG cast, and then 11-13 are all the alternate Kelvin timeline (AOS).
Woo! At this point, you should feel much more aquatinted with this universe.
Now if you still want to watch more of the TV series, honestly, this may be controversial, but you can just watch whichever one strikes your fancy. The stories usually hold on their own, and one crew my be more interesting to you than another.
The Original Series and The Animated Series are the same crew, just one is animated.
From having watched the movies, you should have already met The Next Generation crew and should be able to tell if you want to see more of their adventures.
Deep Space Nine is not actually about a ship, but rather a base. This is the first time the captain was not a white man. Benjamin Cisco is played by Avery Brooks, a black man. Also, his first officer is a Bajoran (an alien) woman. This one also had the closest to the occasional LGBT+ rep with Jadzia Dax, an alien that is gender fluid and changes gender based on their host. It’s not perfect, but it’s at least not the regular cisgender heteronormative character we’re used to. Both Worf and O'Brein from TNG are in this series.
Voyager is about a ship that gets put 75 years away from Federation space and is about their adventures on their journey home. This features the first female captain, played by Kate Mulgrew from Orange is the New Black. It also has a Native American first officer, and a black Vulcan (not the first ever seen, but the first one as a main character), a half Klingon/human woman as the engineer, and later on in season 4, a former Borg assimilated woman. There’s even more than I’ve mentioned here actually, diversity wise. Other than Discovery, this is easily their most multicultural Bridge.
Enterprise is a prequel series that follows the crew of the Enterprise 100 years before Kirk took command. It’s, much less diverse to be honest. There’s a lot I like about it, and tbh I’m always a little Gay for T'Pol (Vulcan Sub-commander) but there’s a lot of white dudes, so if you’re looking for diversity, this…. may not be your jam.
Later, I’ll do a follow up post that has abridged recommendations for each series, because if I’m being totally honest, there’s really some episodes you can skip.
*Please read the introduction post and important notes HERE <—-
BLACK is good for getting out that dark negativity that sits inside of you. That depression, burning hatred and chaos. Black isn’t a bad colour, in fact it’s a very protective and powerful colour for the witch who uses it! Black is perfect for Karmic work. Basically, if you feel that you’re in trouble or have some negative energy following you around, black is the colour to use.Stones that pair well with this colour I’ve found are black agate, onyx, black tourmaline, obsidian and hematite.
CHARCOAL is similar to black in the sense that it is used as a form of protection, I use it to help battle any sad emotions or mundane negativity. This colour is best used if you wake up just in one of those moods that you can’t quite put your finger on, you know? It’s just a little boost of energy protection. Stones that pair well with this are cat’s eye opal and grey quartz.
SILVER is used when I need to receive guidance or insight from a spirit guide, communication and when I need help finding something I’ve lost or misplaced! Stones best paired with this colour are hematite, grey moonstone and grey quartz.
LIGHT GREY: Personally, I use light grey when working with water or storm magick but, I’ve read others use it for glamour type spells and even fear, so this colour goes all over the place. Whatever magickal energy you feel drawn to use it with/on, go for it. Stones that pair best with this colour are moonstone, russian agate and grey quartz.
OFF-WHITE is used to help clear a clouded mind/ judgment; when things feel fuzzy and off and like you’re suffering from a hangover. It’s that solid and opaque grounding colour. Stones that work best with this colour are calcite, howlite, citrine and white jasper.
WHITE represents purity, perfection, universal energy and the source/creator/gods/goddesses to me. Used before and after magick work, circle casting and calling for extra personal healing from your guides. Stones that pair best with this colour energy are diamonds, opal and clear quartz.
Wonder Woman is such a good movie. I think people in general have come to the consensus that it is currently the saving grace of the DCEU. But one question that’s still getting kicked around is “Is Wonder Woman (2017) feminist?” It’s kind of an important question, given Wonder Woman’s role as a feminist icon over the years. But…it’s…kind of a hard question to answer? Let’s talk about it.
When we were younger, Luke and I would hide from our parents in the tree house that was in my backyard.
We would sneak off after filling our plates with food climb up the wooden ladder to the top. We would always get in trouble because we knew we had to eat at the table. That would result in luke getting sent home but we would do it again the next day.
That was also the same tree house luke fell out of when we were 8 while racing to the top. I was the first person to sign his cast when he got home from the hospital.
Luke and I have been best friends practically since birth. It was weird being grown up and living on our own. Luke was going to a university close to his apartment while I just finished my program for the art.
Calum, Ashton and Michael who Luke and I met in secondary school were another one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. They knew how to have a good time, we were constantly getting into trouble. It was the kind of trouble that made you feel like you were really living.
None that really got us in trouble. Except for the time we all snuck into the aquarium and quickly set off the alarm. Michael took the fall for that one, he got arrested while all of us had already ran blocks away.
“Hello?” Someone waves their hand in front of my face.
I snaps me out of my thoughts and back into reality, which was Ashton’s basement with the boys.
And Arzaylea. Who was standing in front of me.
“Do you have any mascara with you?” She asks me.
I can hear Michael chuckle and I look at the other boys.
“No. Sorry.” I say shortly.
I wasn’t the type of girl who wore make up. I could never get it right and I just didn’t see the need for it. It’s not like I didn’t keep up on my looks. I plucked my eyebrows obsessively and always make sure to do my hair but that’s about as much effort as you’re getting from me.
She clicks her tongue, frowning slightly before take a seat next to Luke. They have been dating for almost two months now. We were friendly with each other because she is dating my best friend and Luke wouldn’t let her be any other way. But her and I have never really connected.
I slightly feel like it’s that was with all the boys as well but Luke. If Luke ever leaves the room, even for just a second it’s very awkward when she is in here.
“Can I borrow some lipstick.” Calum leans over to me, using his high pitched voice to mock Arzaylea.
I laugh quietly before smack his arm. Michael and Ashton are playing FIFA while calum and I make conversation trying not to pay much attention to Arzaylea and Luke who are bickering about going out to dinner tonight.
“I’ve got a big test tomorrow. I can’t be out late tonight.” Luke says annoyed.
“Yeah, why would I even think we would do something nice like that. Whenever we hang out it’s always with your friends. When are we going to have spend some time together. You know? As a couple!?” She says back to him.
I can’t help myself from listening in to their conversation. Luke and I never really talk about her. They haven’t been really getting along lately but none of us really mind because she isn’t the best to be around.
“We will. Just not tomorrow.” Luke looks like he’s paying more attention to the game then her which would make me upset too.
“Whatever. I’m going home.” She gets up and Luke sighs. He looks like he’s about to stop her but we make eye contact and I shake my head. “Bye guys.” She says to all of us before walking upstairs.
“God Luke! I just feel like, you don’t even like me anymore!” Calum uses the same voice to mock her again.
Saying it just loud enough so I can hear. I try to stifle my laugh but like notices and glances at me. My face turns red as he raises his eyebrows in confusion and I shrug.
The boys and I hang out until it gets dark. Calum and Michael end up staying the night while Luke and I head home. I offer to give him a ride back and he gratefully accept.
“So you’re coming to my first art Debut right?” I ask him as I drive the winds back to his apartment.
“Of course.” He smiles at me. His blue eyes taking my mind off the road until I feel the shaking of the divider under my wheels. I redirect my car back into my lane and he laughs.
I apologize embarrassed but he just blows it off. We learned to drive together, I think we have both seen the most embarrassing moments we’ve had.
A few short minutes later I pull up to his green apartment building that catty corners an old market we use to spend all of our money on candy at.
“Do you have time to come in?” He asks and I look at the time. It’s not even dinner time yet and I love spending time with Luke.
Lately we haven’t really gotten best friend time because of the other boys and Arzaylea. I nod and pull into a parking spot.
His apartment is just as I remember it. The living room and kitchen were very neat, almost untouched. As soon as you stepped foot in his bedroom it’s like a bomb had gone off, dishes and clothes everywhere.
I smile and pick up a picture of us from graduation. His arm is hooked over my shoulder and our smiles are real. His blond hair is peaking out from his cap while I complained that day about how I looked bald. He has just gotten his lip pierced and loved how it looked.
We went together to the shop, I got my nose pierced while he got his lip.
Things seemed the same but they were also much different. Luke changed a lot after he met Arzaylea, he took out his lip piercing and was a lot quieter. I almost feel like he is unhappy but then I’ll see him and her together and he will look like he is enjoying himself.
I set the frame down and Luke shoves a controller in my hand. I smile at him, “Why even try Hemmings? I kick your butt every time.” I smile before jumping on the couch and taking a seat. He puts in the FIFA soccer game that he can never quite seem to beat me at.
“Let’s just say I’ve got a good feeling about this.” He sits next to me.
After while of playing I have to stand to me feet because the restriction of standing is too much with the pressure.
“No. No!” I yell as he gets a penalty shoot-out which will win him the game. He makes it and jumps up in joy, I fall to my knees.
He laughs while standing over me, I glare at him playfully before trying to kick him. He grabs my foot and I try to wiggle it free. He just watched in amusement as I flop like a fish out of water.
I finally give up, my hair sprawled all over my face. He still holds onto my leg, a last attempt to make sure I don’t kick him. I just lay there, attempting to smooth out my unruly hair.
I start to feel a bit uncomfortable when Luke’s eyes are locked on me. He seemed to be in his own little world but his gaze was fixed on me.
I wiggle my leg, “Can I have this back?” I smile.
He seems to return to present day before letting go of my leg.
“For now.” He smiles, almost flirting with me.
I shake that idea out of my head. He doesn’t see me that way. He told me he really likes Arzaylea. We haven’t talked about her in a couple weeks but he sees me as his best friend. Nothing more.
I wish I could say the same. Since grade 10 I started thinking Luke was attractive. We were each other’s first kiss in grade 6 but that was just to get it over with.
I started really liking him the grade we graduated. I started seeing qualities in him that I wanted in a boyfriend.
He met Arzaylea a couple months after graduation and by the way he looked at her I knew. It got even worse, seeing how good of a boyfriend he could be broke my heart.
So I let it go. Tried to just see him as a friend and not make it obvious. I guess I wasn’t doing as good of a job as I thought be the other boys found out soon after.
He kicks me lightly, still leaning over me. “Get up before I spit on you.” He jokes.
Spit dangles from his mouth and I open my mouth jokingly.
He starts laughing and I move out of the way just on time. The spit hits the floor and i quickly stand to my feet.
“Lucas!” I gasp at how close he actually was to spitting on me.
He doubles over in laughter. His hair, that has gotten quite a bit longer, falls into his eyes. I smile, his laughter is very contagious. I start laughing as well.
“What’s so funny?” I question even my own laughter.
He looks over at me, taking a deep breath of air in before laughing again.
It’s impossible not to laugh with him.
I push him over and he lands on the couch. Soon enough he pulls himself together, swiping a tear away from the corner of his eye.
“Come on. You know my spit has been in your mouth before.” He chuckles again.
“Not on purpose. You do have a habit of spitting when you talk though.” I cross my arms.
“Oh yeah. What about grade 6?” He brings up our first kiss.
I scoff, “Please. That barely counted, it was closed mouthed and lasted like half a second.” I try to play off how much that actually meant to me.
Luke and I kissed, he wanted to kiss me.
He shrugs and stands to his feet, yawning.
“You’ve got a test tomorrow. I’ll let you study and get some good sleep.” I start gathering up my things.
“Agh, I don’t want to study. I want to hang out with you.” His whining makes me smile.
I know I mean a lot to him but I worried when Arzaylea come into his life that another girl would be put in front of me. It sounds selfish but it’s really relieving to know he didn’t want to go out to dinner with his girlfriend but wants me to stay and hang out.
“Goodbye, Luke. I’ll see you tomorrow.” I smile, putting my hand on his shoulder before exiting his apartment. The air outside is cool but it’s light and easy to breathe.
I walk out to my car and glance back up to his apartment while unlocking the door. He is standing in the doorway, leaning against the doorframe.
His eyes are watching me from across the parking lot. He smiles widely and waves at me. I start my car and wave at him while driving away.
