the beast bellow

See this lovely lady?

We all know her as Liz Ten, of course BUT this is Sophie Okonedo.

And THIS is her in the revival of A Raisin in the Sun

And most importantly, THIS is her winning a Tony Award for her performance; the first time she’s ever been nominated, and the first time she’s ever been on Broadway.

So can we pretty please get some love for this gorgeous girl?!

I watched The Beast Bellow for the second time and I’m crying ;~;  That Star Whale is so beautiful and sweet and it came for the children and ajdhfashdgfsad and then the humans had to torture it because they can’t imagine an animal being so kind and they tortured the poor thing for 200 years, such a long time this poor creature has been in unbearable agony and it just makes me so sad ajshfjskdgfd.

Doctor Who Season 5 Rewatch: 5.02 - The Beast Bellow
“The Star Whale didn’t come like a miracle all those years ago. It volunteered. You didn’t have to trap it or torture it. That was all just you. It came because it couldn’t stand to watch your children cry. What if you were really old and really kind and alone—your whole race dead, no future. What could you do then? If you were that old and that kind, and the very last of your kind, you couldn’t just stand there and watch children cry.”

“… Hold position, and cover me. I won’t be long.” Milleuda calls to Maria, stopping in her tracks. The blighted creature seemed ready to set the entire land ablaze, but had also left itself a sitting duck. She glared at it with every last ounce of hatred her soul was capable of, rage and contempt and righteous fury radiating tangibly from her person. Such was the most necessary ingredient of her finest magical technique, the capstone of her communion with the divine.

She raised both her hands high into the air, her glare at the Shatterer unyielding and unblinking. She expended a notable amount of her willpower, taking her to under half of her magical reserves. Then, she pointed at the massive beast, and bellowed in its direction, her voice low and terrible.

A beam of white light shone down upon the Shatterer, as if the gods themselves were calling it to its final judgment. Then, streaks of pure white energy erupted from the ground beneath its feet, searing through its body and pulsing with a dozen small detonations each, assaulting the perditious beast inside and out, a castigation delivered in holy flame.

She admired her handiwork for a few seconds, satisfaction coursing through her body at the sight of her weaponized rage assaulting the beast. It wasn’t often enough she could justify summoning the awesome might of salvation to her aid, so she made sure to relish every heavenly moment when she did.

Nearby the recoiling wing of the beast, she saw a glistening vial. It was a draught of a kind she didn’t recognize, but it shone with an alchemical pedigree far beyond the standard potions and ethers she was familiar with. She dashed forward to pocket the thing before the Shatterer could think to crush her underfoot, then made her way back to her teammate.

“DAMN, did that feel good…” Milleuda growled. She was a wild dog in a priest’s vestments, a sinner dispatched to wreak havoc upon her fellow sinners. There was an undeniable bit of glee in her eyes from having smacked her tormentor in the face with the hand of the gods. “I think I see a new group forming up over there. Let’s see if we can reach them before they embark.”
