the art of disney princess

Day 21 of inktober (+a memory that was on my mind the whole time making this)!
Today I had to draw a recent animation in the style of an old animation, so I drew Moana in a classic 2D animation style!

It’s nearly been a whole year since I went to the cast and crew premier with my dad, and I got to actually meet and talk to Auli'i Cravalho (the voice of Moana) a couple times throughout the night! I was super awkward and tripping over my words the whole time (practically speechless from the movie), but she was so kind and didn’t seem to mind at all.

So right after the movie, my dad and I were standing right outside of the theater, where it was less crowded, and then Auli'i started walking right past us! My dad had met her a few times before when she was at the animation studio, so when he said hi to her, she responded casually until she realized who it was, and she was like “oH HI MATT!!” and gave him a huge hug! Then my dad introduced me, and she got really excited and gave me a big hug and complimented my dress!
We talked for a bit, and then I remembered I had a drawing for her (it was rolled up and had a little flower sticker holding it together), and she couldn’t believe that it was really for her to keep, and gave me a bunch more hugs! Then we all walked to the ballroom where dinner was, and we went our separate ways.
I then realized that I never got a picture with her, but a bit later I saw her close by, so I went over and she saw me and gave me another hug and was immediately like “I didn’t open the drawing yet, but I’m so excited to!! What’s in it? WAIT DONT TELL ME! I want it to be a surprise!! I can’t wait to see it!”
We took a picture, and then she pointed out that we had matching flowers in our hair, so we posed for a second picture with the flowers! We talked for a bit longer, and then I had to leave to find my dad.
So basically, Auli'i is truly like a Disney Princess in real life, and she’s one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met!

Inspired by the Women’s March and my firm belief that these Princesses would be out there. Dream Big, Princess!

Something there

The most beautiful things in this remake are costume and scenic design: i would love live in that castle, even if is dark and ruined, and the yellow dress is amazing. SOme friend tell me that the beast i draw is too kawaii, and resemble my beloved husband, i tell him and he was pretty proud about, maybe because this is the scene where we can clarely understan that there is love and understanding. And afterall i always prefer the beast than the prince ahahah

Pidge is so precious!!! I love how you draw her, specially I love how fluffy she looks with long hair <3 I thought she would look stunning with that hair and a dress but, maybe she's not comfortable using one (but for some reason she has to), so everyone also uses one to support her :D

Wait.. what?

“Are they going to live happily ever after, mama?”

“Of course, my dear. Of course.”
