Finally, a long-awaited solo deal for the One Direction star has been signed, say sources.

Harry Styles has signed a recording contract with Columbia Records, the same label behind his group One Direction, Billboard has learned. Deal terms are not yet known and there is no timeline for a solo album, say sources.

The first hints of a Styles solo career came last year, when four songs performed and written by the star were registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Styles is currently filming the Christopher Nolan World War II drama, Dunkirk.

Since the group was formed on The X Factor U.K. in 2010, One Direction racked up four No. 1 albums and one No. 2 album with 2015’s Made in the A.M., all released via Sony Music’s Columbia label in partnership with Simon Cowell’s Syco.

In March, Harry Styles joined the roster of Full Stop Management, the company headed by former CAA executive Jeffrey Azoff.

Reps for Styles were not immediately available for comment.  - Billboard

Katy Perry Renews Partnership With ASCAP

NEW YORK, Sept. 29, 2016 – ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced that global pop icon and singer-songwriter Katy Perry has renewed her agreement with the society. ASCAP will continue to license public performances of her successful songwriting catalog throughout the world.“ASCAP was in my corner before anyone knew who I was,” said Perry.

“That’s one of the many reasons I’m loyal to them. They’ve always believed in me and my music, and they’re great at supporting and protecting their members. ASCAP’s a vital part of my team.”With well over 100 million records sold globally, Katy Perry is one of the most successful radio and recording artists of all time. Her #1 2008 single “I Kissed a Girl” began an unstoppable streak of global hits, including milestones like Teenage Dream, the first album by a female artist to yield five #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles – “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” - all co-written by Perry. In total, Perry has accumulated nine #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, most recently “Dark Horse” from her double-platinum third album, PRISM.

Most recently, NBC featured Perry’s newest single “Rise” throughout its coverage of the Rio Olympics.“Katy Perry has entertained and empowered millions of fans around the world with her brilliant music,” said ASCAP CEO Elizabeth Matthews. “ASCAP is thrilled to begin a new chapter in our long, enduring relationship with Katy, who is beloved by radio and streaming listeners everywhere and one of the great songwriter-artists of our time.”2016 marks the 10-year anniversary of Katy Perry’s membership with ASCAP. He’s already said to be worth a cool $23million, but Harry Styles is set to quadruple his fortune after reportedly signing an $80million record deal.

The One Direction star turned down offers from a number of other labels to work with Columbia Records on three solo albums.

But fans eager to hear Styles’ new music may have to wait a while, as there has been no indication on when the records will be released.

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Harry Styles for comment.

Billboard previously revealed that Styles had signed with Columbia and last year four songs written by him were registered by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

The hunk is also keen to forge a movie career and is currently filming Christopher Nolan World War II drama, Dunkirk.

In August, it was reported that Sony Music - which owns Columbia - were keen to sign the 22-year-old star for a solo record deal.

A Sony insider revealed at the time: ‘Harry has always been One Direction’s most popular member and it’s obvious that we want to secure him. He’s a global superstar.

'Zayn will get to release an album first, as he left the band earlier, but the most excitement is about what Harry is going to do.

'Everyone wants to know what his solo material will sound like, there’s also a lot of pressure to get it right.

'Harry is a smart guy and is really good at surrounding himself with talented people.’

One Direction - also made up of Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - announced last year they were going on an indefinite hiatus -but it now seems unlikely they will regroup.

Former 1D member Zayn Malik is now a solo artist after quitting the band in March 2015 and releasing his debut album exactly one year later.

Meanwhile, the band picked up the Ticketmaster Best Live Act prize at the 2016 02 Silver Clef Awards on Friday.

It’s the second time the quartet have won the gong, which is voted for by fans, and this year they have beat the likes of Adele, Ed Sheeran and Florence and the Machine to name but a few.
