I don’t want to see you for a long, long time.

At least that’s what I would have said a few weeks ago,

And a few weeks before that, I would have killed to see you. To see how you were doing, if you missed me as much as I missed you.

And now,

Show up or don’t.

It doesn’t make any difference,

I’ve chosen to change my future, and your absence or presence will not alter it in any way.

I hope this helps everyone out! I tried to think of as many similarities as I could and then threw in some that are worth the interest! Happy Hellatus lovelies!

It’s killing me when you’re away

I have to say that line almost kind of changes how I think of Sheith. Just how much time did these two spend together? If someones absence is killing you it kind of implies they were extremely present in your life, less of a friend you see at school/hang out with sometimes and more of someone you’re used to always being with in your off time. The lack of someone being there killing you is so different from just missing someone. It’s similar to the “Your friend desperately wants to see you” line and has that hopelessly in love/soul mates vibe.

My Top 10 Favorite Comics of All Time

Hi guys,

I’ve been getting asked a lot on and offline what are my favorite comic books? That’s a loaded question. I had to think about it. There are some great runs in comics. Some great story arcs. But I had to dig down and see what I really liked. What books have I read over and over and over. These are what I enjoyed the most, I’m not saying these are the greatest comic books ever, I’m just saying they appealed to me. So here are my top 10 favorite comics.

10. Identity Crisis
The DC Comics crisis events. Mostly just okay stories. Too much going on and not enough time to invest in any one character. But Identity Crisis stands out above the rest. Instead of a multiverse changing, massive story, Identity Crisis focuses on the mystery of who killed Sue Dibny. The wife of the Elongated Man. More and more of the heroes civilian loved ones are attacked and the heroes have a ticking clock to solve the mystery before another loved one is murdered. Written by Brad Meltzer this book focuses on the cost of living a double life. Highly recommended.

9. Young Avengers: volume 2
Not to be confused with Young Avengers volume 1. Volume 2 by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie is nothing short of awesome. A multiverse hoping, teenage super hero daydream. It’s a really great story about teenage love, magic, pop references, LGB, and Loki. Lots and lots of Loki. So if you ship Wiccan and Hulkling, love Kate Bishop, and cannot get enough of America Chavez, you’ll want to read this book.

8. Superman American Alien
A lot of people have mixed opinions on this book, but I really enjoyed this unique take written by Max Landis. Focusing on the early years of Clark Kent, it felt more grounded in what Clark would actually be going through on his journey to becoming Superman. Each issue has a different artist which is fitting because each issue focuses on a different year in Clark’s child to teenager to young adult to man journey. It’s a mini series that should be pretty easy to find and I highly recommend it.

7. DC The New Frontier
A book paying tribute to the Silver Age of DC Comics. Focusing on the Macarthy era, A time where America couldn’t be less trusting, the story focuses on the super heroes once praised for their services, now find themselves ridden off as outlaws. Multiple perspectives from Hal Jordan (Green Lantern), Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc, as they fight for truth, justice, and the American way, accumulating to the upcoming battle with “The Center.” Darwyn Cooke tells an amazing story that you all should check out.

6. Scott Pilgrim Vol 1 through 6
I cannot recommend these books from Bryan Lee O’ Malley enough. 6 graphic novels in total, focusing on Scott Pilgrim’s desire to date Ramona Flowers, his journey to defeat her 7 evil ex’s, and the challenge of being a responsible adult. This book is filled with post high school confusion, punk rock, video games, anime style action, and heart. If you liked the movie, I promise you, you’ll love the book.

5. Ultimate Comics Spider-Man volume 2
My favorite super hero is Spider-Man. In 2011 when they announced they would be making a new Spider-Man of color I was ecstatic. As a person of color it’s been great to have a Spider-Man that fills that need for minority characters. Obviously just having a minority character isn’t enough but Brian Michael Bendis’s run on Ultimate Comics Spider-Man makes you really love the character of Miles Morales. The story of what happens after Peter Parker dies and a new clueless Spider-Man must fill the void, is nothing short of great. It puts you in the shoes of a new character trying to figure out who he is, all while trying to keep the memory of Peter Parker alive.

4. Paper Girls
If you like the show “Stranger Things,” you’ll love Paper Girls. Taking place in the 1980s, 4 middle school girls, on their morning paper route get caught up in the strangest day of their lives. To ninjas, dinosaurs, time travel, clones, to apple products, Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang hit you with a sci-fi nostalgia story that will keep you guessing where the next turn is.

3. Justice League International
The late 80′s had one of the greatest Justice League runs of all time. Keith Giffen and J.M. Dematteis pumped out some of the funniest and most entertaining comics to date. Focusing on the Justice League as a work place comedy, this massive run follows the adventures of a newly formed Justice League made up of mostly second string characters. The satisfaction of Batman punching out Guy Gardner, the comedy duo of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, GNORT! If you want your super hero books to be fun and hilarious, this is the book for you. Starting in Justice League #1 through 6 and transitioning to Justice League International, then splitting between Justice League Europe and Justice League America.

2. New Avengers
This comic book run written by Brian Michael Bendis is what got me back into comics after an 8 year absence. 6 months after the Avengers disbanded due to the Scarlet Witch killing some of her fellow teammates, a massive prison break, orchestrated by Electro forces Spider-Woman, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, and the Sentry to come together to put an end to the riot. The book follows the newly formed team on their mission to track down the 42 escaped prisoners, all while trying to solve the mystery who hired Electro and why? New Avengers also brought some of the best characters in Marvel including Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and more, to join the team. The book became the center stage for Marvel Comics from 2005 until 2012 running through events like House of M, Civil War, Secret Invasion, all the way to Avengers vs X-Men. It’s a fun super hero book that really throws you into the world of Marvel Comics.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Black Science
Sex Criminals
New Teen Titans (Marv Wolfman)
Batgirl and the Birds of Prey
Uncanny X-Force (Rick Remender run)
Batgirl: Year One

AND NUMBER ONE….

1. Saga
If you’re not reading Saga, you are missing out. A Romeo and Juliet story set in a sci-fi fantasy space adventure. In the middle of an intergalactic war, Alona and Marko leave their worlds behind to risk everything for the survival and protection of their newborn Hazel. Hunted by both sides of the war, the two travel across the stars and encountering creatures from all over the galaxy who either want to help them or want them dead. Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples take a story about the ups and downs of parenting and throws it into a cosmic and crazy story of awesomeness. Look out for Izabel, Prince Robot the IV, and Ghus. You will smile every time they are on the page.

Deprivation

Jasper Hale imagine requested by anon! “The reader is having nightmares and isn’t really sleeping but doesn’t tell Jasper out of fear of worrying him but he begins sensing her exhaustion and knows how to comfort her through both his powers and how long they’ve been dating and is able to both confront and comfort her? Thank you so much.” Hope you like it!

It was the fourth night adhering to your newfound, and limited, sleep schedule. You lay awake, your cheek resting softly against the marble chest of your boyfriend, his skin chilling your cheekbone against all odds, cold piercing through the thin fabric of his shirt, his fingertips lazing gently along the curvature of your spine. He knew you were awake, though the two of you exchanged no words, his unnecessary breath keeping time with yours, lungs filling in tandem. The air was stagnant in your bedroom, flooded with notes of aged fabric and filling sweetly with the intoxicating scent that lifted so easily from Jasper’s skin. It was not an uncomfortable environment to find yourself sleepless within. Hell, the only surface you could find that may have been harder than Jasper’s slow-moving chest was concrete, and still you found yourself at ease and entirely relaxed against the plains of his body. With the warmth of your blanket’s cotton embrace and the familiar chill of Jasper’s holding you close, it was almost laughable how you couldn’t bear to fall asleep. The world’s most particular infant would be out in seconds… and yet you laid awake, your eyes blinking senselessly into the darkness of your room, tracing shadows, counting breath, and fighting the urge to sleep.

Jasper’s fingers swirled unseen circles against the curve of your shoulder blades, his touch hovering with determined delicacy, always aware of the damage he could cause with a thoughtless flick of his wrist. Your eyes closed peacefully, your lashes whispering against his shirt, your steady intake of breath exaggerated some by the facade of sleepiness you hoped you exuded. In truth, there was no escaping the truth of your situation. Jasper, even without his heightened empathy, would have been able to tell your falsehoods from sincerity as easily as he could identify your face in a crowd of strangers. Still, you were dead-set on keeping your internal struggle from being brought to light beneath the vampire’s nose. The last thing you needed was to have Jasper hovering over your headboard as you slept, overly-concerned for your well-being, religiously controlling the thermostat and amount of light entering your room as he fought to give you the night’s sleep you deserved. No, Jasper couldn’t be brought into the loop; you distinctly remembered the expression that had set into his features when you let slip how afraid you were of vampires. This was before you knew of his family’s secret, of course, but the man had gone well out of his way to prove to you how gentle he could be, how kind, how safe before finally telling you why he skipped school during the blood drive and how he had run so far so fast when a passerby tripped on the pavement during your late-night outing in Port Angeles.

Your conviction had been watertight nights one and two, but you found yourself slipping the last two days; if only you could charm a mental nudge from Jasper, just enough to calm you down, perhaps you wouldn’t see the startling images that painted themselves across your eyelids when you tried to sleep. Pictures of death, portraits of scattered limbs… a thousand vampires, their pupils blown wide within frames of violent crimson, sinking their teeth into every exposed inch of Jasper’s flesh as he thrashed and writhed in pain. He did not bleed, but the injury was obvious. He did not speak, but his wordless, sometimes voiceless cries were exponentially worse to witness. When they tore his arms from their sockets, his face contorted in agony. When they hurled him in your direction, his eyes terrified as he absorbed the full extent of his environment, you could hardly bear to watch. When the vampires crowded about you, their ravenous eyes torn between their two victims, you could only watch. This was usually when he began to speak, his sentences punctuated with shouts of pain as more and more hands became claws around his neck. You felt it, then; the ripping, the tearing of your flesh as the mob descended. Jasper, of course, could do nothing but watch. You found yourself, for once, on equal ground. When you woke, the image of Jasper’s head lifted above the crowd of newborns was still branded into the front of your mind. Jasper’s hands would smooth over your hair, as they did now, his voice a soothing force in the inky darkness.

“You walk like the dead all day, but when it comes time you can’t sleep?” he whispered into the shadows, his fingers trailing upward along the back of your neck, his palm smoothing over the strands of your hair. His voice was like honey, dripping slowly through the summer’s heat, catching the sunset’s rays as it descended. You lifted your face to meet his gaze, his butterscotch eyes gleaming in the lack of light. His hair harvested the moonlight as it shone, just barely, through your curtains. He adjusted himself to better accommodate your new position, inching himself into a seated stance before inviting you to his chest once more, his arms closing around your waist as you nestled yourself into his lap. He inhaled slowly, his eyes burning from within with adoration, almost enough adoration to hide the underlying concern that threatened to douse the flames until they were no more than embers. He lifted a hand to cradle your cheek, his palm frigid to the touch, your body too accustomed to his radical temperature to flinch. He smiled a slow, easy smile, his lips upturned in the corners, his face relaxed. “Tell me what’s wrong,” he offered, his words neither command nor inquiry, his features betraying nothing. If you had been strangers, you would have believed him to be impartial to your answer, uncaring on the subject of if he ever got one… but you knew him. He was already half-mad with worry. You returned his quiet smile, your eyes bleary from lack of sleep, your muscles aching from the absence of rest.

“I’m fine, Jazz. A little insomnia never killed anyone, I can promise you that.” You ran your fingers absentmindedly through waves of his golden hair, his eyes closing at your touch. He sighed blissfully, his hands dropping to your waist, his thumbs working into your hipbones as your hands fell to the nape of his neck, your fingers interlacing to secure your hands at the back of his neck. Jasper’s eyes washed over your face, his brow pinching as he took you in. “I wish you’d stop worrying so much. Really, I’m fine. Loads of people have sleepless nights. It’s not as big a deal as you think.” He parted his lips to counter your claim, but you continued over his unspoken argument. “Jasper, it’s a human thing. A night or two without sleep isn’t the plague. I’m going to be fine.” He lifted his hand to your face, his fingers smoothing over your cheekbone, his thumb moving to caress the bags beneath your eyes. They looked more like bruises every day, each night darkening and deepening the external effects of your deprivation.

“You’re not fine, Y/n. If I couldn’t hear your heart beating, couldn’t feel how warm you are, couldn’t smell your blood like perfume, you could convince me you were bit four days ago and I wouldn’t call your bluff. You look more and more like me every day.” His hand fell to your shoulder, smoothing over your arm until your hand had moved to meet his between your bodies. He twined his fingers with your own, his eyes bright with anxiety. “If you tell me why you’re so afraid, I could help you. You know I could.” You rested your forehead against his own, your breath expelling from your lungs in a single, weightless huff. Jasper tilted his head, freeing his hand from your hold to guide your head to his shoulder, the hand he had held at your waist smoothing upward until it rubbed against the middle of your back. His voice was a melodic whisper against your hair. “I’ve never seen you so exhausted. Tell me how I can help you, and I’ll do it. I’ll do anything.” You felt tears well along your waterlines; frustration-born and embarrassing, saltwater flowed down over your cheekbones, making contact with the shoulder of Jasper’s shirt, his hands slowing against your back, his palm abandoning your hair to smudge the tears along your cheek, breaking their trails as they fell. “You can tell me anything, darlin’. I’ve probably heard a lot worse.” You collapsed against him, your body giving out under the strain of your sleeplessness.

“I keep seeing it. Every time I try to sleep I see it happen, over and over. I thought it would go away, but it keeps getting worse. For the past week and a half I’ve been having this… this… terrifying dream. It’s only just gotten to the point where I can’t even close my eyes without seeing it all… happen again. It used to be once a night, then twice a night, but now…” you inhaled, your breath trembling as it flooded your lungs. “It’s always the same scene. You’re alone on a field, wearing Calvary greys, but your eyes are still so bright, so warm. I see you look around like you’re trapped, see them rush you from all around, and there are so many of them. They keep biting you, here and here and here,” you whimpered, further emphasizing your tale of terror as your fingers traced, by memory, the ridges of his numerous scars. “Then they start to tear at you, and you’re screaming and I can’t do anything to help, but I want to, so I feel myself reaching forward and suddenly I’m there, with you, and all of them turn to me like they’re starving and I’m a feast. Half of them keep ripping pieces of you away, the other start ripping at me, and just before I wake up I see your head come off.” Jasper’s breath had ceased, his hands frozen along the expanse of your back, his eyes glued to your face as you spun your nightmare into verbal reality, shaking your head all the while as if to dash the very thoughts from your brain. “And I know it’s ridiculous to even think that this could happen, but it’s not so much a thing of the present or future as it is a peephole into the past. I know at least some of this happened to you, Jasper, I know what could happen if anything like what you faced with Maria comes to Forks. And I can’t bear to lose you, can’t stand to think about it. I have to stay awake so I know you’re okay because every time I close my eyes I can’t be sur-” Jasper’s lips found your own then, his mouth working over yours with a heated passion you had hardly ever witnessed before. His hand tangled in your hair, his palm pressing against the small of your back to secure your body to his. He parted his lips from yours, pressing kisses against your cheek, your forehead, his breath flowing freely over your skin. When he leveled his eyes with yours, his gaze was a blaze of impossible love. He held your face between both of his palms, his hold on yours both gentle and firm. You could look nowhere else but into his eyes.

“Y/n, we’re not in danger here. I’m far detached from the armies of newborns that destroy the southern cities. I haven’t seen or heard from Maria in close to a hundred years. She and her masses of untrained soldiers are no threat to us. I’ve been bit before, of course, but that was when I was a newborn myself. Nowadays, I doubt any of them would be able to touch me. They would never come close enough to touch you, not by ten miles. On my honour, they wouldn’t even catch the scent of you before they were burning in pieces. I’m not looking for fights, and I don’t expect to find one on our doorstep anytime soon. You have my word. There’s nothing to be worried about. I promise to keep my head set firmly on my shoulders so long as you keep yours, and that requires sleep, darlin’.” A giggle escaped your lips, watered-down slightly from the recent flow of tears from your eyes. Jasper’s grin was near blinding in the darkness. “Come on, now. Close your eyes. We’ll both be here when you wake up.” You nodded your head, your body collapsing further against the hardened muscles of Jasper’s torso. You lifted your head for a brief moment, your eyes locked on his.

“Could you do your mind thing? With the…” Jasper nodded solemnly, the shadow of a grin itching at the corner of his mouth as a warming wave of comfort washed over your limbs like an ocean breeze. You smiled, content, pressing your lips to his jaw before resting your cheek against his shoulder once more, his smile now clearly visible. “Thank you,” you breathed, Jasper’s borrowed comfort easing your eyes closed, your every exhale deepening your state of relaxation until your mind began to fog over. You felt a pang of fear tighten in your chest, followed swiftly by a rush of serenity and ease. You slowly faded away to sleep, Jasper’s hands tracing the ridges of your spine as you lifted from reality to settle in the meadow of a dream.

Mistakes (Batboys x Batsis Reader) Part 2

Part 1

“Gotham seems to be in more trouble than it usually is!” The reporter amusingly bantered to her partner.

The fellow newscaster waved his hand to signal a video. It was taken last night in the troubled city called Gotham. The Joker managed to get out and brought a few of his friends to have a “chat” with Batman. The fight on the video was brutal and you would cringe after each mighty blow the Joker and others gave to the mighty heroes of Gotham.

“Do you think Gotham’s favorite vigilantes are getting too old for their job?”

“Well I don’t think that’s the case Jim, besides Batman you can tell that his helpers like Red Robin and Robin are fairly young… they’re probably not even twenty yet.”

“It would be scary if Robin was that old… he’s so small.”

“Oh yes, but it seems like Robin is not present in this fight, where do you think he could be? Batman looks like he could use the help.”

The news reporters and yourself brought back the attention to the video.

Batman seemed to be the only one bringing his A game to the fight, his punches were precise, but he seemed a bit more sluggish. Nightwing was an utter mess, the normal people couldn’t see but you could tell his wasn’t feeling his top game that night. His landings were stumbled and he got kicked in situations which you known he could’ve easily avoided. Red Robin stuck entirely to the outside of the fight, he refused to make direct contact with criminals and you know that Tim only does that when he looses confidence in his fighting abilities.

And Robin was no where to be seen in the video.

That was strange because you knew Damian would never miss out on a fight unless there was something vital keeping him back.

Clicking the television off you begrudgingly got off the couch and pulled out your duffle bag.

With two taps on the door, the door slowly opened.

“Leaving already?” Barry said sarcastically.

“I never said anything about leaving.” You replied nonchalantly, pretending to rummage through your bad.

Barry picked up the remote and returning to his place back near the doorframe turned on the tv.

“Batman also seems to be missing another in his most recent battles.”

“Correct, the vigilante (Y/SH/N) hasn’t been on the scenes lately, does our research crew know any information about this?”

“No, but with the lack of presence of Robin there must be a reason.”

You zipped your backpack up and slung it around your shoulders. The news began to play a more recent battle from earlier this morning. Looking at your brother’s moves you could see the laziness with their punches and the sluggish responses they gave. This time it was only Batman and Nightwing. The fight seemed to last longer than it should. A painful punch landed on Dick’s jaw, you grimaced but your eyes were still glued to the screen.

Barry noticed your interest in the screen and turned it off. You whipped your head to glare at Barry, but you quickly decided that it wasn’t the best move you tried to look like it didn’t effect you.

“I’m glad you’re finally going back to them.” Barry said with a grin.

“You don’t know where I’m going.” You stated plainly, walking to the door.

Barry followed after you and smiled. You were just like your brothers and Batman. Too loyal to fully abandon your duties, heck, when you came to stay with him each night you made sure to fight crime along side with him to make up for your absence in Gotham. It was also no wonder that you found some stuff about your supposed mistake on the last mission you went on with the team.

You didn’t kill the man, it was Joker’s venom. A couple nights of hacking and a few interrogations lead to the actual truth.

“Thanks for your help in Central City, tell Batman I said hi.”

The boys sat in silence with only the noise of typing on the computer.

Dick slowly walked into the cave and slumped on one of the seats.

“Please tell me you heard from Damian or even better Y/N.” Tim said, eyes not leaving the computer.

Dick gave a short grunt and picked up some medicine from the table.

“We could use all the help we can get Jason.” Tim grumbled to Jason’s laid back figure.

“I am helping.” Jason shot back gesturing to his phone.

“You’re on the news.”

“Exactly.”

Jason began to play some recent news videos from across the world. He lazily scrolled through the channels before stopping on Central City’s News. Tim sighed as he watched Jason look at his phone while blaring it out so everyone could hear. He honestly didn’t even know why Jason even offered to help, he has been laying on the couch for 2 weeks scrolling through his phone. Damian was gone every day and only came back at night storming to his room and Dick was the only one who was stable enough to help Batman with his battles since no one else would.

Everyone’s thoughts were about you.

Each of them thought about their mistakes and replayed the last scene before you disappeared.  They all regretted the mean things they said and barely slept. All of their off hours were spent trying to track you down.

Dick turned to your friends and his own personal friends for help, while Jason was sitting on the couch and sometimes left it to go on an unknown ride with his motorcycle. Tim relied on the computer completely. He searched though files, cameras, and pictures in hopes to find you. Damian was gone since the day you were announced missing. He searched every place in Gotham and when Gotham turned out empty he widened his searches to other cities.

As the night went on Damian returned from his search and Dick also came back again from his most recent fight. All was quiet until,

“Bingo.” Jason blurted out.

“Did an ad tell you you’ve won a free phone.” Damian replied sarcastically.

“Central City’s News on Wednesday 5:35 go there.”

Tim quickly typed in the video and Jason picked up his helmet. Hoping onto his motorcycle he sped out of the batcave. The boys didn’t understand what was so important about this video until they went through frame by frame. Flash was seen zooming into a warehouse knocking villains down. It all seemed like a typical fight until something was thrown to the villains back to stop his motions to break the valuable tech.

Stopping the video at the right time your shadow was barely seen in the corners and your weapons was hidden very carefully to avoid the camera.

The boys face erupted in smiles.

“She’s in Central City…” Dick said with relief.

“Grayson drive the Batmobile now, we have to see Y/N.”

“So that’s where Jason went.” Tim said to no one in particular.

You crept through the alley ways. Nothing bad seemed to happen but you could feel something was off.

You were almost back to Gotham, but the walk took longer than you expected. So you were just enjoying the evening stars, dazed with not much concern.

Until a pair of arms picked you up and spinned you around. Before you could react back you recognized the voice.

“You’re not going anywhere this time Y/N”

“Jason?”

“Duh.”

He let you down but still held on to your hand. You gave Jason a confused glance.

“What? I’m not taking any chances until my reinforcements arrive.”

You were going to question what he meant but the screeching on a car answered it all. Dick and Damian jumped out of the Batmobile and gave you a bone crushing hug.

“Don’t do that ever again.” Damian said sternly, but you could hear his tone get cracked up by the tears.

Damian let go to wipe his tears but Dick still held on to you and he hurriedly told you everything that happened and how they were all wrong.

“Dick I know about the Joker venom so it’s ok I’m sorry I left.”

“You’re sorry? Y/N we’re sorry! We are all sorry!”

You smiled as you looked to your brothers. Mistakes happen, but ultimately your family couldn’t be divided. Tricks or lies can’t separate this family forever.

“Where’s Tim?” You suddenly noticed his absence.

Another motorcycle was heard screeching through the alley.

“You guys left me!” Tim yelled at he stopped the motorcycle.

“You were too slow.” Damian said plainly.

Tim practically jumped off the bike to hug you.

Mistakes can happen but ultimately being together as a team and family can learn and conquer those past mistakes.

WIPs because i’m so Inactive! Sorry about my lil’ absence lately, but school is killing me slowly.
This days I’ve been free I started playing around with Cycles Render and MD and these pieces came out!
Some cute little silk mules with a bow and an off shoulder, very summery blouse!
What do you think guys? ♡

sherlockian-demigod-potterhead  asked:

"Are you fucking insane!?" Marichat, please! ♡

“Are you fucking insane?!” Chat Noir hissed, panting hard. He released Marinette from his tight hold as soon as they landed on the roof.

Marinette stumbled backwards, losing her balance. Chat Noir grabbed her arm to steady her. “What were you thinking, Marinette?! You could have seriously gotten hurt!”

“I was t-trying to help you!” Marinette sputtered, face red and angry.

“You getting hurt or…or killed isn’t going to help anyone!”

“That guy had a gun. He was going to shoot you.” Marinette’s voice had lost a little of its fierceness.

“I’m in a magical suit.”

“And you know its bulletproof?” she challenged.

Chat Noir looked a little sheepish. “I assume…”

“Ass.”

“Either way, you aren’t magic, Marinette! You can’t go charging after bad guys. I’m the one who is supposed to serve and protect.”

“But who protects you?” she asked in a small voice. “I couldn’t just stand there…”

Chat Noir cupped her cheek gently. “Then you know how I felt when I saw you running straight for the gun.”

“Ladybug should have been there,” Marinette grumbled, unconsciously reaching to her ears. Her bare lobes mocked her. She was going to kick Hawk Moth’s ass when she got Tikki back.

Chat Noir stepped back and scratched the back of his neck. “Ladybug is, uh, dealing with some things right now. She’ll be back in action as soon as she can be.”

Marinette wondered how much Master Fu had told her partner after she had shown up weeping when an akuma had managed to take her Miraculous after a long battle the week before. Chat Noir had been out of town for something in his civilian life and his absence had been her undoing in the fight.

“I need you to promise me you’ll be more careful,” Chat Noir demanded, moving in again. “I can’t…it would kill me to lose you.”

“W-why?”

Chat Noir looked surprised by her question, green cat eyes widening. “You’re important to me, Marinette. You’re….I care about you.”

Marinette looked at him thoughtfully. “You know.”

Chat Noir’s shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry, My Lady. I know how much you value your privacy, but Master Fu thought I needed to watch out for you…even more than I already do,” he mumbled.

Marinette closed in and wrapped her arms around Chat Noir’s waist. He stiffened and then melted around her. “Thank you, kitty. You’re always looking out for me.”

“I-I lov…I’ll always look out for you.”

“I know.”

You made your way down the hallway, each step you took getting heavier and heavier. The air around you felt cold compared to the bunker’s usual hot and stuffy atmosphere.

This was it. You were really doing this. You stopped just outside your bedroom and opened the door.

There was no going back now.

“Dean-” you said, taking a deep breath as you leaned against the doorframe, getting his attention.

Hmm?” he stood up from your bed where he sat, looking at his phone and walked over with a small smile on his face. He tried to kiss you, but you pulled away- “What’s wrong?”

I couldn’t change you, but the seasons did.

The thing is, I knew he’d leave. A part of me always knew. He told me from the beginning, he didn’t feel anything. He was a stranger to emotions. And when he left, the pain wasn’t from his absence. In fact, when I think of him now I feel empty, indifferent almost. The hurt is from the time. Over those months and months of forehead kisses and surprised laughter, I wasn’t enough. I couldn’t make you change. My words couldn’t make you change, my touch couldn’t, my banter couldn’t. That small petal of hope I held so carefully in my hand is what killed me. Cause when you said to me “Maybe we shouldn’t talk anymore, your feelings will only grow deeper” it permanently shriveled. And so did my smile.
