thats us guys

Oh my god, in last night’s Bob’s Burgers, Bob takes Gene to a laser light rock show at the planetarium (super important to Bob, because it was his favorite when he was a teenager, and this is the last night before they’re closing the exhibit because it’s old and no one goes anymore, also it’s Bob’s birthday), and Gene has no idea what he’s in for, but he gets pumped for it anyway ‘cause Bob’s so excited about it, and finally they get in there and they’re watching it, and Gene has a sensory overload and kinda starts freaking out ‘cause he can’t handle it, so Bob takes him out and they sit in the car for a bit.  Gene’s angry because Bob didn’t tell him it would be so loud and scary, so Bob offers to play the album for Gene at a normal volume, and Gene starts to enjoy it, so he reclines the seats, takes out the cigarette lighter, tells Gene to pretend it’s a laser, and starts drawing in the air, explaining the plot to him (it’s like a full on Pink Floyd or Rush-esque rock opera about a bunch of robot overlords telling rockers that they can’t play music anymore, and one Rebel rising against them).  Gene gets really into it and decides he wants to see the finale of the laser show (which Bob regards as a life-changing experience), so they sneak back into the planetarium (there’s no re-entry allowed) with a few tricks that parallel the story from the album, and watch the climax of the show together (Bob fashions some earplugs for Gene out of a napkin).  On the way home, Bob’s asking Gene how he liked it, and Gene says “I loved it!”, Bob asks him to speak louder ‘cause his ear’s are shot, and Gene yells, “I LOVED IT, DAD”.  Bob yells back “I love you too, Gene”.

I FUCKING!!! CAN’T!!! DEAL!!!! WITH HOW GOOD THIS SHOW IS!!! I know i don’t talk about Bob’s Burgers a lot but this show is flawless and charming and gross and funny all at the same time, the characters are written like people with actual fears and anxieties, and unlike a lot of comparable shows, the comedy doesn’t come from the family being pitted against each other, it’s always the family against the world… I love it, I love it, it’s so pure and refreshing and still somehow manages to be funny without sacrificing it’s heart, and I fuckin’ love it, please watch Bob’s Burgers holy CRAP okay I’m done.

“Yes, of course we still love her, and we’re always thinking of her…”

“I know you both needed someone who knows what you’re going through…”

It’s no small feat.
It took a leader hiding pain and exhaustion under a careless laugh, an artist brimming with inspiration despite his tears, a friend with a big heart and warm hands to take away the difficult times; a dreamer with ambition and hope to inspire confidence, and an intelligent soul with the wisdom to make the tough decisions in a midst of awe and confusion, to paint this canvas. Here is to five incredible men who work so hard to fill the voids in our hearts with holes in their own. Here is to five brave men who stand to fight the odds again. Here is to Highlight.

It really is still beautiful.

Thank you

To those of you who give us voices, To those of you who give us faces,

To those of you who give us personalities, To those of you who give us songs,

To those of you who share our songs, To those of you who write our stories,

To those of you who help us dance, to those of you who make us move

To those of you who give us love, To those of you who love us so

Without these gifts we cannot be.

Thank you for helping us become VOCALOID

chapter one complete!

WE DID IT! After 3.5 months and 33 non-stop pages our first chapter is finally complete. Will Frisk make it back home, or will Chara succeed in taking their soul? And what the heck is Asriel doing there?

Now that chapter one is nicely buttoned up, we are taking a short  breather to get ahead on pages and sort out some blog business. However, we aren’t going dark! To accommodate our prep time while keeping the blog active, Caretaker-AU will undergo a temporary schedule change.

Ah! Wow! Woah! Here’s the next month:

Next week (Feb 20-26): One week of quiet. No major updates!

The following 3 weeks (Feb 27 - Mar 17): Weekly updates on Mondays. That’s one page per week for the 3-page Interlude.

After that we will resume the usual 2 pages per week schedule.

Why the schedule change?

Quite a few reasons actually! While the blog will be quieter, us mods will still be frantically working behind the scenes to prep the next section. We’ll be using this month to…

Get ahead! Despite tons of unforeseen obstacles, we’ve managed to never miss an update day… barely. These interruptions ate up our backlog and lately we’ve been working up until the last second every week. In order to spare ourselves, we’ll be using this time to work ahead so we don’t suffer deadline fatigue.

Fix the blog! We have a new theme in the works that should be easier to navigate and hopefully work around the mobile app issues.

Open commissions! We’ll draw what you want for the right price! Since we will be working around the main comic schedule, commission slots will be limited to just a few a month. Keep an eye out for the announcement!

Secret stuff! We’ve got some other blog stuff we need to finish up, but you’ll find out about that later… it’s a surprise!

Finally sleep? Nah, probably not.

And of course, we will continue to answer asks and post fanwork as usual! :D

“Interlude?” What’s that?

In our grand plan, we are using the space between main chapters to share mini-chapters we are calling “Interludes.” These short one-shots will provide insight and backstory related to Caretaker, and are a part of the overarching story.

Will you do this every time?

According to our script, Chapter 01 is the longest chapter in the story. Because of this, we may not need to change the schedule at every chapter break. It will all depend on our workload! Interlude segments will always be between main chapter breaks.

tl;dr:
Interlude starts on February 27
Chapter 02 starts on March 20

Have an awesome day!

Okay, Undertale fandom. Listen up.

No no no no. Just no. I’m not gonna deal with this crap.

Please, all of you, tell me exactly where in Undertale it says that Frisk is gender less? Got anything? No? Okay, then be quiet.

I really, really don’t know where it started, maybe it’s because people didn’t think about it before they blurted it out. Frisk doesn’t have a canon gender, therefore they must be gender less, right?

Wrong.

I’m really not having this. It’s just ridiculous. Never, anywhere in the game does it say Frisk is gender less. True, it never says she is female. It never says she is male. It never says anything, and guess what?

That’s the point.

It’s not meant to say anything.

Why?

Because Frisk is you. Frisk is the player. She is the person being controlled throughout the game, she is the one that you are playing as, she is you. Which means that whatever gender you see her as, you damn well go for it! I just- I can’t believe all of you have forgotten how RPG’s work. In most RPG’s, you choose the character’s gender before the game.

And as I’m sure you all noticed, this hasn’t been done in Undertale. Why?

It’s done to not define Frisk, the player, you as two single genders - so you can see Frisk as gender less, as transgender, as gender fluid. And that’s amazing, it really is. I love the thought of it.

So when did this creative and inclusive idea suddenly turn into calling out or attacking people who consider Frisk as female or male?

It’s ridiculous, isn’t it? I get that trans and genderless and gender fluid get treated so badly and I really hate that. But that’s not an excuse to forget or shun the existence of male and female. And I’m sorry, but I am 100% female and always will be. So to me? Unless canonically a certain gender in an Undertale AU, Frisk, to me? Will always be 100% female. Undertale Frisk. I’ve created my own AU (or have it in the works) where Chara is female and Frisk is genderless - not because it’s Undertale canon, not because of respect towards genderless people but because it suits them. Because I like it. And if that, as a genderless person makes you feel happy, then great! If you as a genderless, transgender or gender fluid person like seeing Frisk as any of those because it makes you happy then great! Go for it, I’m not gonna stop you :)

But I like seeing Frisk as female because it makes me happy.

So why can’t I do that?

Single Payer Healthcare

People who answer “single payer healthcare” every time a problem with the U.S. healthcare system is brought up are part of the problem.

Mashing the SPH button every time the grownups are talking simplifies the conversation about US healthcare to a useless degree.  SPH is the goal, but just injecting those three magic words into every conversation does nothing to address the complexity and nuance, and only allows the person saying it to feel good.  Most of them are just as uneducated as people who want it to remain a for-profit system.

If you are in favor of SHP, as every sane person should be, then you need to get your hands dirty and educate yourself on some things.  Here, I’ll start you off:

1. Torte reform.  Want to curb over testing and over prescribing? Torte reform.  Doctors need to be able to not worry about being sued because they missed your zebra or something unrelated to what you saw them for, and they need to feel comfortable saying, “No, Barbara, you can’t have a zpak for your virus”. TORTE.  REFORM.

2. The cost of med school.  As it stands, most students leave med school with 300-400k in debt.  As single payer statistically speaking involves a drop in pay, this becomes untenable.  They should not be paying a mortgage when they get out of school.

3. Residencies are underfunded.  Doctors can sometimes come out of school, with the debt mentioned above, and not be able to match into a residency and finish their training.

4. Doctor shortage.  2 & 3 would help address this, but if we want to switch to SPH we need more doctors to handle the load, otherwise you’ll be waiting weeks to see one.  Plenty of smart, potentially qualified people go to a different field because they don’t want to take on the crushing debt.

5. Preventative care.  The whole conversation around this needs to change, to emphasize it over emergency care.  Treating stage 1 cancer is cheaper than treating stage 4.  2, 3, and 4 are related to this.  A heavier primary care load means we need more primary care doctors.

6. Transparency of pricing.  Everyone involved in the process, especially doctors, need to know what things cost.  This also goes towards over testing (Noticing a pattern? It’s all connected.).  Right now that’s not the case, and to avoid being sued, expensive tests are probably being ordered in excess of what is necessary if there’s an efficient cheap one.

7. Profit limits.  Now, I tend to lean more capitalist than most of Tumblr does, so I don’t have a problem with some profit being made.  BUT.  There needs to be a limit to how much drug companies, hospitals, and insurance companies can over charge.  That could be a flat %, I don’t know.  But it would definitely help limit the expenses and how much is paid in general (which makes it easier to switch to SPH.).  Drug companies especially.

8. Doctors need to be educated about how the admin side works (thanks @md-admissions for that one.) so they can be better prescribers and be more aware of what it’s like on the other side of the fence.  Here’s the quick and dirty: Dr. dxs and codes for that.  –> treatments are added in the form of HCPCs –> After the appt, stay, etc. is over the billers charge the insurance company, after going through a whole host of corrections.  Mostly because of the next step, and because you can only use certain ICD codes with certain HCPC codes –> bill goes to a clearinghouse, whose only purpose is to check it for errors.  It’s an automated system that will reject for completely minor things.  Bill is either accepted and sent to the payer, or rejected and sent back to the provider for corrections –> Biller performs corrections and resubmits.  This part can literally go on for months, but it’s eventually sent to the payer, or the exasperated provider gives up –> once at the payer (insurance demon I mean company), they look it and either pay it or reject it.  Often they refuse to give you more reason for the rejection than an arcane code.  If it’s medicare you may or may not get a human-readable report.  It’s a crapshoot if you get a 277 or 999, as far as I can tell.  If the payer rejects it sometimes they won’t even discuss it with the provider, and insist you use the clearing house as a go-between.  They look for any reason to reject and providers lose *millions* to this BS. –> After all of this, the balance is either written off or forwarded on to the pt.

9. Eliminate clearing houses and insurance companies.  This would happen as a by-product of switching to single payer, but none-the-less, it still addresses the problem of administrative waste that would still need to be watched out for under a SPH system.  Clearinghouses are useless.  People who do the job of checking the coding and whatnot tho (coding is important and necessary, because it allows for tracking of illness for stat reasons but also because that’s how they know what to pay.) could be transitioned to the same job in a SPH system.

Ok this isn’t exhaustive, but I think it’s a good start.

So please, SHP people, before you go beating that drum make sure you’re ready to address the complex mess that is American healthcare because I’m tired of listening to your smug assertion of “single payer would fix this” and I agree with you.  It’s lazy and uninformed.

liam doesn’t have a new accent. he hasn’t changed his voice. his accent is still there, but it’s less strong because he’s spent the majority of his time in LA around people with american accents where when he was in 1D he spent most of his time around other people with english accents. when he goes back to spending tons of time in the UK, his accent will get stronger again. that’s just how accents work.

I’m just gonna sit in my corner and enjoy Bendy and the Ink Machine for what it is and completely ignore the porn.

Just.  Don’t even bring it in my direction.  Let me have this one thing
