that's totally something ike would say no one can deny it

my thoughts, summed up

OKAY so to everyone asking why some fans are upset with taylor (btw this is probably not the same for every fan, it’s just my reasons personally):

  • she (and tree) made it seem like she was against the entire song from the beginning and never gave her approval to kanye, yet the video clearly shows a friendly conversation where she gives her approval. and ik what y’all are gonna say: “but the video only shows she only approved of the ‘i think that me and taylor might still have sex’ line, not the ‘i made that bitch famous’ one!!!!!!” OKAY BUT EVEN IF THAT’S THE CASE, IT DOESN’T CHANGE THE FACT THAT SHE MADE EVERYONE BELIEVE THAT SHE DISAPPROVED OF THE ENTIRE SONG FROM THE BEGINNING. tree said that, and i quote: “kanye did not call for approval, but to ask taylor to release his single ‘famous’ on her Twitter account. she declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.” and yet!!! the video clearly showed (a) kanye calling for approval, (b) taylor GIVING approval of the song, which idk, doesn’t seem anything close to warning him not to release it. she even thanked him for calling her up and respecting her enough to tell her about it.
  • and don’t get me wrong, i totally get why taylor would be upset. if she was truly not made aware of the line that referred to her as “that bitch,” and if she really did not know the entire content of the song, especially that one specific line, it’s 100% an understandable reaction to be offended and upset. but again, my problem with her reaction is that she made it seem like she was against the entire song from the beginning. it wasn’t like she said, “i was okay with that one line when kanye called me asking for approval. but he left things out and never told me about the other line, which is mainly why i’m upset.” no, what she did instead was deny the fact that kanye called for approval, and then made it seem like she did not in fact give kanye her blessing to at least a part of the song when she actually did. you can’t deny that she played the victim in this case, making it seem like she had no idea about the song whatsoever and never approved of ANYTHING at all.
  • also another big reason why some fans are upset: she apparently called the song out for being misogynistic, but the video shows that she actually did okay (part of) a misogynistic line. she did say that she felt like the “sex” line was “provocative,” but she ultimately told him to “go with whatever line you think is better” and that “it doesn’t matter to me, there’s not like one line that hurts my feelings and one that doesn’t.” idk about y’all but this doesn’t seem anything like “cautioning him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.” and i get that the meaning of the message is much more offensive when combined with that “i made that bitch famous” line, but literally it still doesn’t change the fact that she approved a line that’s still misogynistic on its own, and then once it was released, claimed to be against it from the beginning.
  • plus, if i heard the video correctly, she said something along the lines of, “you’ve gotta tell the story the way that it happened to you and the way that you experienced it. you honestly didn’t know who i was before that.” and “it’s awesome that you’re so outspoken about this and be like, it made her famous” – which sorta leads me to believe she knew the whole “i made her famous” concept of the song…which would then mean that the only part she got upset about was referring to her as ‘that bitch’? which literally, those 2 words does not change the level of misogyny of the entire song, even if those 2 words were left out it’s still misogynistic/offensive af and it doesn’t make sense for taylor to do a total 180 in attitude just for referring to her as “that bitch.”

what it boils down to in the end, if we’re talking about why this whole thing is so upsetting, is that she had us all thinking that she disapproved of the whole song from the beginning. and we completely backed her up, trusting her character, and believing she was completely upfront about the entire truth of the situation. we defended her and dismissed Kanye and Kim K as total liars when they claimed that they called her and she gave them their approval – only to be made fools when this video of the phone call showed otherwise.

don’t get me wrong, i’m still a taylor fan and i’ll still support and love her. but some of y’all need to get your head out of her ass and recognize that she can be problematic sometimes. like literally just because you admit that she fucked up and made a mistake doesn’t mean you’re less of a fan. like no, thats not how it works. YOU! CAN! STILL! BE! A! TRUE! FAN! AND!! BE!! DISAPPOINTED!! WITH!! HER!! ACTIONS!!!

okay that is all. hannah out. *mic drop*
