Elrond’s Council LoTR scene cosplay commission.
I like it so much when my customers are ready to invest not only into my work but are also ready to buy a rather expensive fabrics so the outfits look rich. Pure silk velvet of auburn color was used for the robe, Indian dupioni silk was used for the inner coat, and complimentary fabrics were used for the sash and robe lining.
I also used a machine embroidery for the first time, trying several stitches and picking a triple stitch for the work. You know, home machines aren’t too good with decorative stitches usually, but I managed to set up my Janome to deal with it, so it won’t constrict the fabric after the embroidery is done. Even the supporting adhesive fabric wasn’t needed (though I used it anyway in several places). I embroidered the chest, the shoulders, the sleeves of the coat and the belt flaps.
All the embroidery patterns were taken at alleycatscratch.com site who did a great research on that matter.
Tiny loops and 3 mm beads were used as buttons on the coat, so they’re perfectly in scale, as Elrond’s coat has a very tiny buttons.
