@belxsar: Hello, for your ‘Kisses With Meaning’ prompt drabbles, I’d like to request Mitsuhide with either eyelid, nape, or wrist (you pick because I can’t!) please. Thanks so much! :) Love your writing and your blog! <3
It’s a game she comes up with on the spot to test a few things, meant to last only a heartbeat. But looking at him now, and every moment before and after, she knows she will never be able to help herself, not when he sits there so fraught and tidy, refusing to play. There will be a wrinkle in his sleeve and a wrinkle in his brow, as well as a wrinkle in his words and a wrinkle in his calm, and she will want nothing more than to reach out on every plane and see how much more wrinkled it would get under her touch.
She does enjoy it. She can admit that. But it won’t even be the best part.
She thinks him untouchable, invulnerable, as stalwart as a battle ship heaving out to sea, and it infuriates her, because she can see the wear and tear. From the pier she wonders why he doesn’t.
“May I kiss you?”
So she plays with him, poking and prodding with gentle paws, until it’s a glorious mess: the stillness. The fake tranquility that goes washing over him and seeping out through his pores. His brush stills. His breath stills. His eyes still. And every inch of his control frays under an invisible, indomitable, weight.
Like the cat that got the canary, she bares her teeth at him in—
AHHHHHHH I can’t believe it *squealing* Thank you to everyone who puts up with my craziness, my randomness, my incessant reblogs, gifs and idiocy filled tags- I LOVE YOU ALL! P.S. Juju makes an appearance because he was meant to be my 600 thank you but I never got around to making one… also big shoutout to the hubs @alter-dna for drawing this up. I swear, one day he’ll spend more than 20 minutes making this stuff up for me and you’ll see his true talent!! But dang they’re still cute *squealing intensifies*
One of my favourite dramas set in the 17th century is actually a series for children called The Children of the New Forest. It’s based on a Victorian children’s book written by a High Anglican Tory so some of it is kind of….Victorian in its values (at least the book is) but it is the cutest and it’s probably what first exposed me to 17th century Britain so I hold it in high esteem.
Anyway, it’s basically about a group of rich children whose country house is destroyed by Parliamentarian forces (it’s set during the ECW) and they have to go into hiding in the New Forest, because there’s a price on their family’s heads. They’re “adopted” by the poor forester who secretly harbours royalist sympathies so he looks after them but he’s also strict in that he expects them to live like him so as not to raise suspicion about who they really are. They go through all sorts of mishaps and troubles (even rescuing and adopting an imprisoned Spanish Rromani boy called Pablo, who makes them food from hedgehog). In the end, they end up paving the way for Charles II to leave England after the Battle of Worcester and he personally thanks them. It’s very cheesy and sweet but it’s a children’s adventure story first and foremost.
At one point, the children decide to come up with new names to suit their new identities. The youngest child, Edith Beverley says she wants to call herself “Henrietta Maria, after the Queen!” She’s told no, that’s a silly undercover name. So she says something like “I hate you all! Why can’t I be Henrietta Maria? If we’d gone with Prince Rupert, he’d have let me be Henrietta Maria!”
So… I’m incredibly close to 3K and I’m still in shock that that many of you even want me anywhere near your dash. NOW I HAVE A PRE-CHALLENGE CHALLENGE FOR YOU! If I hit 3,000 followers before April 2, I will be celebrating both the milestone and my sweet baby Sam Winchester with a Sam’s Birthday Challenge! I really want to do this so I’m basically begging you for help… no shame (okay maybe a little bit of shame).
I’ve just reread the spoilers for this week and Liv and Chas are leaving tomorrow? I thought we had another week yet. Now I’m sad. I’m not to fussed about Chas at this point, but I love LIv. We better get a good Robert/Liv scene tonight/tomorrow…
