Like the other asker said, I love your villain/hero prompts. (I think you've got a bit of a fan base here.) Any prompts for a kidnapped hero realizing they know their villain in everyday life? And the villain knew they knew each other all along? You write the best prompts I've ever seen! So much inspiration is drawn from them 😘
Thanks! <3 And by the number of villain related prompts/asks I now have archived in my head/the inbox I think I agree. Wonderful problem to have. I promise not to spam you all with too much villain/hero content though.
1) “I came to you for help!” And yet, all along,
they’d been on opposing sides. “I trusted you.”
“And I helped,” the villain said. “Just like you begged me to. You never felt
as safe as you did with me, so stop looking at me like that.”
2) “So I’m guessing I don’t get the promotion, boss?”
The villain raised their brows. “No, by all means. It’s all yours. The extra responsibility might even help keep you out of trouble. Just don’t expect to be off the hook for lateness if you get yourself kidnapped playing hero.”
3) “Hate you? I don’t hate you. That would require
me to hold you in something other than complete contempt.”
“It certainly sounded like contempt when you were moaning my name last night.
“A lot’s changed since last night.”
“Yes, just not how much you want me.”
4) “How could you betray your own family?” their voice cracked. “Me? I’m not the traitor here.” The villain’s fists clenched. “Someone had to protect our family, and you were far more concerned with running around playing rebel, fugitive, soldier, spy than sticking around for your own. So don’t you dare take that tone with me.”
Hello, I'm kinda new to the Superbat fandom and I was wondering if there's a guide or something for the comics. I don't know if such thing exists but it never hurts to ask! I've never read a comic in my life, so sorry about that but I wanna start in someway. Your fic got me interest in Superbat <33 Thank you and I'm sorry for awkward question!
Ah, what a wonderful question to get! DC Comics are daunting af, I know, so here are a few recommendations for where to start–I recommend getting trade paperbacks of these, I think most of them are still available? Some of these are cut and pasted from an earlier post…
For a pretty full list that runs up to the reboot, you can check out my guide on LJ which covers a LOT of stuff.
Jeph Loeb remains the go-to writer for Superbat emotions on the old Superman/Batman title: Public Enemies and Absolute Power especially. His run on Batman, Hush, also has some really good Clark/Bruce moments. He cannot plot worth a damn but he delivers the emotional goods. His Superman for All Seasons has no Bruce in it but remains one of my favorite Superman stories.
Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns is not a favorite of mine, but it’s an important read because it set the tone for a lot of the modern versions of the two. It’s also extremely slashy in a bitter, hatesexy sort of way.
World’s Finest #282-300. 1982-1986 was a tumultuous time for comic books, and Superman and Batman briefly got very, very close before The Dark Knight came out and shifted the paradigm on their friendship. This run of the World’s Finest title is…well, it’s… it’s got Superman and Batman crying together as they witness the great love of mating space worms. It’s got Superman almost murdering Barry Allen for implying Bruce might be dead, and saving him from mind control through the power of hugs. It’s got Clark crying a single manly tear because Bruce won’t talk to him anymore, and Bruce sadly caressing a picture of the two of them. Seriously, it’s…it’s worth a read if you can get it.
Kingdom Come by Mark Waid has its flaws, and over the years I’ve come to disagree with his characterization of Superman a bit, but it’s got a LOT of very good interactions between an older, sadder Clark and Bruce. It’s kind of Waid’s answer to The Dark Knight, and features a different kind of rift between them, but one that turns out to be mendable. I had to read it with Wikipedia open, though, because it’s got a HUGE cast.
Emperor Joker by Jeph Loeb is a hot mess of a comic book–tons of random characters and an even more random plot–but oh, the hurt/comfort, angst, and suffering for each other! Yes, worth a read.
If you can ever get your hands on Shogun of Steel–an Elseworld AU in which Bruce is a gender-swapped ninja, with canonical romance between “Bruce” and Clark–please do so.
You can read most of “The Trust” at the link–it’s a short story about their relationship, short and (very) sweet (if you find sweet “I would totally use a gun to murder you rather than let you hurt people, Clark.” Which I do).
In current comic books, the recently-ended Batman/Superman title had some really good moments in it and also had beautiful, very abstract art.
Max Landis’s American Alien had some very good Clark/Bruce content.
The Supersons title that’s currently ongoing is probably your best bet for Clark/Bruce content in an ongoing title. The focus is on Jon and Damian, but their fathers’ solid friendship is always presented as a contrast to their pricklier alliance.
Feel free to drop me an ask if you want any more details! I’m always happy to talk about Clark and Bruce!
The great irony of following tumblr's mom is that you're better than my own mom ever was. My parents were awful, grandparents worse, and I ran like hell to get away from them. And now the closest thing to a parent figure I can care about is a woman on the internet I've never met with a demon rose familiar and an Elder God haunted house. I wish I had better words to thank you or explain, but it's late and my writing is the only kind of words I'm good at. So thank you, Mom.
Oh honey *hugs tight*
I’m so sorry you had to go through that, but I’m so glad you took care of yourself and got out of there. It’s not easy getting away from abusive people. Take care of yourself, okay? Me and the demon rose are always going to be here, chilling out and offering hugs and love wherever we can. Well maybe not the rose. her hugs hurt.
Everyone here's saying how your appearance or pronouns inspire them but honestly my biggest inspiration from you is that I might eventually have friends without having to hide my identity from them. I've never had friends before and I kinda latched onto the idea that I would never be accepted. Thank you. 🙏
I told myself I wouldn’t cry but gosh dang it ! ❤️ you got me with this one 🌈❤️
Wow. All I can say is thank you, thank you for all the kind messages everyone has sent me. Whether it was on here or twitter, I’m amazed at the responses I’ve been getting. The love and support from this community is one of the things that originally drew me in. I never imagined my art would take me here but I’m thankful that I got to be apart of this charity stream. I want to thank all of those who donated or signal boosted the stream in anyway you could. You all helped an amazing cause today. I’m so proud of all of you and what this community is able to accomplish. <3
Oh dear. I can see you went through some rough stuff. I've seen the past of a fellow under my trainer's guidance and it seems all of you born inside the white walls of the yellow crest had a painful past. *she slowly pats your back* But, you've got lots of friends out there now. You're safe from further harm. Welcome~!
“There are so many kind pokemon out here, it’s a lot to take in. But I’m learning, and I’m thankful for every kind word. I hope I can make the most of this freedom.”
Hello! I've read through your manymany pages of Anabasis things, and am delighted to hear of the rewrite's progress, as well as snippets, etc. Came here because of the ff version, as many of us did, from asks I've seen, and wanted to say that I liked it for the kernel of the story (which you seem to be using in the new version) rather than the details around it, and felt it got better towards the end because it started to go that direction. So, thanks for doing more of that!
Thank you for this!
That’s pretty much how I feel about the first version of Anabasis myself (and why I usually tell people who haven’t read the first version to please, please skip it, because I can’t in good conscience recommend it).
I started writing that fic over ten years ago (which is horrifying, but shh), and in the beginning I really didn’t have a strong feel for the characters or a good sense of the core of the story. It actually originated as a reaction to and a riff on what was a really common story type in the fandom at the time, and there’s a lot about those elements that I now find pretty unsalvageable. (The entire backstory between Padme and Anakin, for one. Which is, you know, kind of a major element of the story.)
But somewhere in the process of writing this reactionary thing, I stumbled across an actual germ for a story, and I think that shows through in the last couple chapters of the first version. It really had become a totally different story than I started with, and part of the reason I never finished it was that I think I realized on some level it would really need to be rewritten. I wasn’t comfortable with a lot of the early elements and couldn’t keep writing in a ‘verse built on them.
So this time around, I started with a pretty solid theme, a much better understanding of the characters, and a much firmer outline, and the issues of freedom, of conditioning and recovery, of the rebuilding of democracy, issues which only really started appearing in the last couple chapters of the original, are at the heart of this story to begin with.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their support on my previous post about my hair!! I got so many messages and I’m grateful to have such a sweet community here!! You all didn’t have to, but you sent me uplifting messages anyway..!!! I couldn’t ask for anything better ;w;)//
idk if I've already requested this, but may you do a tsukishima angst? specifically him and his s/o get into a fight and he says some pretty rude things about their s/o personality and appearance and then you can take it from there. Thank you! 💗
Angst angst angst! I was listening to Noah Cyrus ft Labyrinth’s newest hit, Make me (cry) as I wrote this, and I got really inspired, especially with the line, ‘
Lovin’ you could make Jesus cry
’. You can listen to it here.
Three things you should never insult someone, one, their appearance. Two, their personality, and lastly, one’s passion. Among the three forbidden rule, Tsukishima himself already broke two of them, without even realizing it.
Tsukishima and you were never really the right pair to even begin with. There were the happy moments, of course, but the negative ones seemed to out rule the positives. When a pair falls in love, compliments are easily tossed around, telling them they’re ‘meant to be’ or ‘goals’ would make a couple giggle and jokingly roll their eyes, but yet they were. They were in love.
You and Tsukishima used to the pair, you were happy, for a while, at least. But time couldn’t keep your love at bay, and eventually, slowly, it started to fade out. There were still compliments every once or so, by strangers or those who didn’t know you well. But your closer friends always advised you to cut off ties with him.
You loved him, you really did. And you still do. But Tsukishima? You weren’t sure about how he felt. It was evident that the both of you were reaching an end. The 'I love you’ started to become something you rarely hear and the affections were more foreign and stiff.
Seeing Tsukishima’s monotonous face whenever he came home was something you grown accompanied to over the past few weeks, and you didn’t even bother with the greetings anymore. You were about to ask him if he wanted dinner before he stormed off to your shared bedroom mumbling a quick “Leave me alone,” as he zipped past you.
Feeling concern, you followed him into the master bedroom. “You okay there?” you asked worriedly, albeit it felt a little awkward. Tsukishima nodded, “I am, I just want to be alone,” he stated, sitting on the edge of the bed to take off his greyed-colored socks.
“There’s obviously something,” you claimed, Tsukishima was never the type to open up straight away. You needed to bug him to really get a proper answer so you assumed he was in one of his bitter modes. Tsukishima grunted in response and shook his head, taking off his tie now.
“There’s really nothing, what else do you want?” the tone of his voice grew increasingly annoyed and anger was started to creep in too. But you took no notice of it, choosing to brush it off. “Tell me,” you began, “You never tell me anything, shit, you don’t even talk to me nowadays. What’s wrong? There’s something bothering you and it’s clear to me that you’re not happy about it.”
“You know what’s bothering me?” he stood up and took two long and slow stride towards you, “You really want to know?” he threatened, without losing a beat he continues, “You’re the one that’s bothering me, alright? You’re honestly so fucking annoying, stop acting that you care when you don’t at all,” he breathes out, his anger slowly reaching his limit.
“I hate coming home every day, your annoyance and ignorance, God! I don’t know where the fuck it comes from,” He glared at you menacingly, “Don’t stare at me with your eyes wide open like that, as if you don’t know. I’ve been hinting it to you for weeks on end now!”
“You’re so damn oblivious to everything! God! Always acting all happy and shit, I can’t stand it!” At this point now, Tsukishima was close to yelling. You haven’t realized you’ve been crying when Tsukishima pointed it out, “You think crying’s gonna make me go all pitiful for you?” he chuckled, “I’m not, and for the love of God, can you never cry, you look horrendous.”
“Good riddance,” you heard him mumble as he stormed off to the bathroom. This is it, all the build up, everything, came crashing down at once. So did you too.
Any chance of getting the cuneiform script for the Akkadian incantation to Lamashtu, "her hands are stained with flesh and blood"? It's metal as hell, and I want to use it for a project if that's okay. (You're doing great work! I've already got some friends and family singing the Babylonian lullabye you translated to their children! Thanks!)
This note absolutely made my day — thank you so much!
I’m not going to give approximate word counts on any of these since I don’t know what they’ll be. I’m also not going to give time frames because busybusybusy. I’d like to have Beast done before S3 and my Matt gets Jossed, but that’s about all I can promise.
Regardless, these were far and away the winners. Seriously, it wasn’t a competition. I’m so glad you just enjoy my Shiro gen (especially the ones where I put Shiro through the wringer, ahaha).
Hi :) thank you sooo much for you work! I've gota problem: I downloaded the 4th chapter (+ extras) from the Mediafire link but I can't open it with any program on my computer :( and the facebook link isn't working neither. Help?
Hi, I’m so sorry. Facebook deleted the album because it got reported.
