After eating another pathetic excuse for dinner with the boys and deciding where you were headed next - deeming it a pointless trip to have come so far and only do one hunt in the area - you gathered your things, the second motel key off the table, and limped out of the room to go find your own. Which was, as it turns out, even smaller and more frigid than the last one.

The cold air hit you like a brick as you stumbled out of the motel room, using the wall for support and dragging your duffle bag behind you through the freshly fallen snow. Dean had, of course, tried to help you with your bag and get you safely to your new room, but you’d turned down his offer and opted to do it yourself, your newly stitched leg screaming in protest with every clumsy step. When you got to your lonely little room you collapsed on the bed with a groan.

Ever since you had started hunting with the boys you’d always gotten your own room, every time without fail, and it never fazed you in the least. You enjoyed the quiet, gratefully took the seldom found privacy, and couldn’t imagine a worse fate than having to share an already cramped and more often than not dirty motel bathroom with two men. You were happy with the arrangement – or, as happy as a hunter could be when bouncing around from one dive to the next. But now? You just felt lonely.

The room was too quiet. You found, to your surprise, that you didn’t mind giving up some of that privacy if you were giving it in favor of being near Dean. Even sharing the amenities was something easily avoidable if you managed to wake up before the Winchesters. You liked sharing a room with them – you liked sharing a room with Dean.

     And you missed him.

Like Hell - Tommy Shelby

Request: Can I request a TommyxReader where they’re married but she’s crazy protective over Tommy. She can kick ass and she ain’t scared of anyone. So scenario is Tommy’s doing business and it seems fishy and sure enough, something goes wrong while wifey is there. The second Tommy’s safety is jeopardized, she goes ape shit on everyone? Please and thank you!

Like Hell - Tommy Shelby

Before you married Tommy Shelby you lived in London. More specifically you lived with your grandfather and uncle, both men were gangsters in their own right. They were top rank in a gang of men who were ruthless and unforgiving. You grew up in that world, as a child you used to take money back and forth. The older you got the more responsibility they rested upon you until you were able to hold your own. Then you met Thomas Shelby, purely by accident.

He had a meeting with your uncle and you had sat in. You had gone your entire life not being the slightest bit bothered with men. All the ones you met were demeaning, they saw a young woman who could take care of herself and felt the immediate need to try in put you in your place. That never sat well with you and so you had never tried to find someone worthy of loving. Until you met Tommy.

A Thank-You to Taylor Swift

LONDON — Last week, Taylor Swift won her symbolic $1 case against a former radio D.J., David Mueller, who assaulted her by groping her bottom under her skirt at a preconcert photo session in 2013. When Ms. Swift’s mother, Andrea Swift, took the stand during the trial, she testified that her daughter had agonized over the fact that she had said an almost automatic “thank you” to Mr. Mueller and his girlfriend after the photo shoot.

“She couldn’t believe that after he grabbed her, that she thanked them for being there,” Andrea Swift said. “It was just destroying her that she said that.” Breaking down in tears, she went on to say, “As a parent, I questioned why I taught her to be so polite.”

Neither she nor her daughter bears any responsibility whatsoever for the assault, as Ms. Swift powerfully pointed out in court. But Andrea Swift put her finger on an important truth. We raise girls to be pretty, pliant and polite. We raise boys to be loud, demanding and confident.

It starts from babyhood, with onesies featuring pretty princesses and future presidents. We “shush” little girls, contain and silence them, while boisterous boys are expected to make noise. We train girls to practice far more self-regulation than their male peers. Research shows that parents interrupt girls more often than boys and that boys are more likely to speak up in the classroom.

For women, being polite often goes hand in hand with self-doubt and subservience. At its root, the very notion of politeness is so gendered in our unequal society that it can simply translate into an overwhelming pressure for women to selfcensor or self-flagellate. Often what we euphemistically describe as “politeness” ends up sounding like an apology for taking up space, for asking anything of others, for even existing at all.

The reflexive politeness Taylor Swift displayed toward her attacker will be instantly recognizable to thousands of women. It is normal to freeze in shock or go on autopilot when experiencing a sexual assault. And for women, it is also common to feel you have no choice but to carry on smiling, swallow your feelings and try not to ruin the party for everybody else.

This imperative not to rock the boat is partly reflected in the huge number of survivors of sexual assault who question whether an attack was their own fault, who don’t want to upset friends and family members by telling them and who don’t think it’s serious enough to bother the police.

Children learn that it is a worse crime for a girl to make a fuss than it is for a boy to touch her sexually against her will. Is it any surprise that a shockingly low number of women feel able to report a sexual assault and that a shockingly high number of men think they can abuse women with impunity?

The impact of socialized self-doubt extends far beyond sexual violence. We see it in women’s unwillingness to apply for jobs unless they fulfill every requirement. We see it in their propensity to use hesitant terms like “just,” “if possible” and “I wondered” in emails. Women’s salaries suffer from a reluctance to negotiate in the way that men do.

The pressure for polite girls to grow into subservient women is reinforced by the way society treats those who dare to step outside these expectations. Women in finance are punished more severely than men for violating the rules. Women who dare to negotiate for higher salaries are penalized for doing so. Again and again, women who dare to speak out about sexual assault are belittled, dismissed, ignored or abused. Until these systemic inequalities are addressed, simply telling girls to be “more assertive” will never solve the problem. The way in which we respond to assertive women must change radically, too.

The flip side to all this is the overconfidence of mediocre men, who don’t have to worry about being rude because their rudeness is interpreted as leadership or pizazz. Men who are more likely to apply for jobs they’re less qualified for, who initiate salary negotiations four times more often than women and demand 30 percent higher salaries. Then there’s the confidence verging on criminality that is actively preached by a subculture of so-called pickup artists who instruct men to push past polite female refusal until they get what they want regardless of women’s wishes.

It is no coincidence that such men celebrated the triumph of Donald Trump, a man who has boasted about being able to grab women “by the pussy.” The president is the very epitome of overconfident male mediocrity and, unsurprisingly, a big proponent of pliant, pretty femininity.

Pressuring girls into putting courtesy first suppresses their ability to resist or protest both discrimination and abuse. We should ensure that every girl knows that politeness is less important than her career, her rights and her ability to decide who touches her body. Taylor Swift’s court win may have yielded only a single dollar, but to prove this point was invaluable.

Olicity Fanfic Rec List:

(You’ll find all of these on AO3 unless I specify otherwise)

There’s so much love in this fandom and a great way to express them is to write fanfiction! I’ve had a tiny but if a difficult time recently - my mum was ill, ambulances, hospital and lost of chocolate (me) was involved - and I haven’t been able to write a thing.

Coming back to it, I took a quick look through all the bookmarks I’ve near-to obsessed over in the past and thought I’d write this list. @scu11y22 is to thank so if you actually manage to find one you haven’t read, then go send her a word :)

(This list is not exhaustive) They are to be: multi-chapt, slow burn, well written, mature, no threesomes (ditto x 1000), no kids and AU/canon divergent… and not @so-caffeinated and @dust2dust34 AMAZING FICON

Legacies series by @chronicolicity

Part 1 is called You’re His Hope ( Felicity struggling to save Oliver’s humanity after losing him to the League of Assassins. Anything else would legit be a spoiler. Expect drama, romance, angst, humor, plot and plot TWISTS. Sparked by some amazing Tumblr theories I apologize in advance for completely ruining.) And so on and so forth.

The Crow

(Bratva Captain Oliver Queen has been looking for revenge his entire life. When he can’t trust his own family, the Bratva to get it, he finds the answer to all of his problems in Felicity Smoak; a genius hacker who is running for her life from the same object of Oliver’s hatred, The Triad. With an unlikely partnership, The Crow might just find out that light can shine in the darkest of places.)

AO3 Address: Anthfan

(My personal fav is the Devil’s Backbone)

When the Day Comes

Have you talked to her?”

“So you’ll call her-” Thea sent a teary look back through the window at Tommy.

“I’ll call her if he wakes up.”

“When,” she gripped him fiercely then, her little nails digging into his forearm, “when Tommy wakes up.”

Oliver nodded, “Yes, of course.” His tone as hollow as his smile had been.

An all time favourite of mine: Sins by @smoakandarrow

(Oliver Queen is alive. After being presumed dead in a violent shipwreck five years ago, Oliver Queen returns to Starling City determined to right the wrongs of his family. But the billionaire playboy’s homecoming stirs more than feelings for joy; it threatens secrets someone is determined to keep buried. Secrets that threaten the life Oliver has just reclaimed, and the lives of those he loves the most.Vowing to protect his family at any cost, Oliver digs deeper, bringing danger to his doorstep, and leaving him with the shocking realization that the sins of the past are rooted much closer to home than he ever thought. When friends may be enemies, when enemies may be his best allies, when love is used as a smokescreen to hide the most vicious hate, Oliver isn’t sure who he can trust. He just knows that he’ll do anything to protect those he loves… even it means dying all over again.)

You Have Not Failed This Verse  by @so-caffeinated

(Sometimes a payday ain’t exactly what it seems.) Don’t let the brief description fool you. It’s incredible.

(Felicity knows her place in Oliver’s life. She’s the sidekick not the love interest. But in the Summer after the artificial earthquake lots of things can change.)

The Ways of the Universe

(No two epic love stories are the same. For Oliver and Felicity, it’s quite the long road. What with all the crime-fighting, and super-secret identities, and emotionally-stunted men, and old flames, and meddlesome friends and family. Some goats, too. Picks up right after the end of ‘City of Heroes’ (2x01). Any similarities with the rest of S2 are, for the most part, coincidental.)

What Happened in Vegas - a very different take on the usual Vegas hookup fics

(It’s all fun and games until you wake up hung-over and married to a stranger. Five years ago Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak made a drunken mistake that could never be corrected. After years on a hellish island he comes back as a man on a mission only to find out that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. (Season One Rewrite))

Every single story by @supersillyanddorky06 but especially Predator

(Oliver Queen is the one anomaly in the Chicago Outfit. He is the only non-blooded member to be a part of the high circle in the family. His reputation precedes him and he is their best hunter.
Felicity Smoak, daughter of the Starling boss, infiltrates his house, intent on killing him.
But a startling encounter tips the scales. He goes on the prowl and she escapes. Hate, heat, and friction. Sparks. But something bigger is happening in their world. And despite their disagreements, only they can fight it down.
Mob AU. Not Bratva. Enemies-lovers. You’ll want to bash their heads sometimes. Stuff will happen. Enjoy!

The Legacy Series by @ash818 (I’m sort of in love with this universe: it involves Oliver and Felicity’s children and it’s a wonderful and very serious - possibly quite honest - look at what the future might look like for them. Plus, I wrote a one-shot for this. SHE’S THAT GOOD.)

(It’s 2039, and Jonathan Queen cannot stop looking for trouble. Then trouble finds him and his family, and Jonny discovers that there is more to his parents than he ever suspected. He must learn to bear the weight of his parents’ past, and he must learn fast, because time is running out for his mother.)

Most of these aren’t finished but this one hurts me because it’s been left alone:

Somewhere Out There

(When Felicity falls through a gate that takes her to a parallel universe, she finds herself in a world that is so much like her own, except for one very important thing.)

(I feel sad. Wanted something to cheer myself up. This is the result.I have no set dates for updating, so bear with me.This is the Bratva fic no one wanted. Note - I like that Oliver isn’t possessive. I also like when women have agency. You will find both here. This is a Oliver/Felicity-centric story.)

His Girl Wednesday and Some Things Are Meant to Be

Insanely long fics (THANK GOD): Missing her interview for a position in the IT department of QC, Felicity Smoak meets Oliver Queen, son of the CEO and future CEO himself. Only Oliver doesn’t take the company as seriously as he should and after yet another fiasco with his assistant, his mother decides to take matter into her own hands and select one with more qualifications than long legs and deep cleavage. In an effort to get her off his back, he pretends he already hired one: the blonde nerdy girl he met a few minutes ago.Or when Arrow and Ugly Betty crash in my head (except we all know Felicity could never be ugly). It is mostly Arrow, I borrow a few plot ideas/characters from Ugly Betty.

Sequel: Three years ago, Oliver went on a cruise on the Gambit and never came back, leaving Felicity devastated. She forced herself to move on with her life, trying to forget that the love they had shared was one she’d never get to live again.

Except Oliver didn’t die on that boat. But no matter how much he wants to, he knows he can’t come back. Too many things happened, and the only way to keep his loved ones safe is to stay as far away from them as possible.

It all changes when Felicity starts questioning the circumstances of the accident that took him away from her…

One More From the Top

(In the aftermath of his fight with Ras Al Ghul, Oliver finds himself somewhere unexpected: his hospital room when he first came back from the Island. With a second chance to right the mistakes he’s made since coming back to Starling City, what will Oliver do to save the people he’s loved and lost? Will he be able to change his past or will be he forced to watch history repeat itself?)

(After the events of Unthinkable, Felicity burns out from Arrow activities. So she takes a step back to get some air. This story tracks Felicity’s journey of becoming a heroine in her own right as she helps form the Justice League.)

Good, Better, Best Series by redtoes - a three part series each specifying how O + F got together and stayed together. Not very long but 15 chapters so…

The Grand Adventures of Felicity Smoak

(a.k.a How Felicity did not save the day.Felicity’s father comes back only to take her away from the life and the people she loves. But sometimes, it takes a series of misadventures for a girl to discover how badass she really is and how valuable she is to her friends. She gets in trouble, gets rich, gets in trouble, gets hurt, gets in trouble again and gets the guy.Canon divergence. From in mid s02 before the revelation of Slade Wilson.)

Another I need to mention - though it isn’t a multi-chap slow burn - is: This Love Thing

Also a short fic but there aren’t that many slow burns around :) is Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone

(When meeting Felicity, Oliver has a flashback. Afterwards, he flees, leaving behind his 'latted’ laptop. She further investigates on her own, but lurking underneath everything else is Felicity’s concern for Oliver. Just like with anything that matters to her – she doesn’t know why he matters but he does, she can’t let the episode – what she fears to be PTSD – go.)

The Darkest Hour

(just weeks after moving to Starling City, Felicity Smoak is kidnapped for information she does not have. She endures weeks of torture before she is rescued by a man in green leather and his partner, John Diggle. As Felicity begins to put the pieces of her life back together, she realizes the trauma she suffered changed her in unexpected ways. Restless and with a driving need to help others the way the man in green helped her, she finds herself using her brilliant mind and considerable computer skills to follow a different path fraught with danger and violence. As Felicity grows closer to the Green Arrow and Diggle, helping them in their cause to save Starling City, the three struggle against unseen enemies, and discover the unexpected truth behind her kidnapping.)

All in a Day’s Work

(By 9:00 a.m., she had broken a heel, lost her cell phone, and been the victim of a coffee catastrophe. By 9:30 a.m. she had “borrowed” the NSA mainframe. By 10:00 a.m., she was engaged to Oliver Queen. Really, it was all in a day’s work. Plotty, fluffy fun with a side dish of heart.)

The Best of Friendships have Benefits

(like Communism or time travel, having a sex-buddy sounds a lot better in theory than in practice. However, Oliver and Felicity see it as a means to rebuild each other. So, inevitable consequences be damned, they still give it a go, not expecting to gain a whole lot more than what they initially bargained for.)

Also, most fics by @yellowflicker09011996 will make you want to tear out your own heart but one of my favourites is: All The Worthy Places  (They say if you get hungry enough, you start eating your own heart. When she sits on top of him, arms and legs tight around him and kisses his mouth like she wants to eat him alive, Oliver believes it. ) and To Rage Against the Dying Light (There could be no time to think, no moment to feel. The dark was going to engulf him till there was nothing left, if he so much as flinched. He had known grief and he had known fear but this… this was wordless.Nobody had ever told him that ruin felt so much like death.)

The Fall Verse by @callistawolf

(Taking place directly after the events in “Sacrifice” (the season 1 finale), Felicity tries to pull Oliver back from the edge. But is Oliver ready to be pulled back? Or is he ready for the fall?)

Step By Step

(During the summer between seasons two and three, Oliver and Felicity are attempting to navigate their new status post-fake but not actually fake I love you’s, and a kiss that may or may not have meant everything. Or: What would have been different for Oliver and Felicity if that summer had been about both of them truly coming to terms with what they meant to each other. Basically - Felicity decides to live her life, and Oliver realizes that her life doesn’t necessarily include him as much as he may want. How he reacts, and how Felicity responds to his actions, shape the future of their relationship.)

City of Fallen heroes

(Five years ago, Felicity was kidnapped and forced to do the unthinkable in order to return home. Convinced she couldn’t be the loving wife Oliver deserved, she left and tried to keep her darkness from hurting their daughters. The return of an old enemy will force Felicity to decide if she’s the monster she thought she was— or the hero her family believes her to be.)

(It’s been two years since the Atom invented a plague that wiped out most of Starling City. With a ruthless government agency in control, and a hooded vigilante fighting to shut the Atom down, Felicity Smoak quickly learns that life post-apocalypse isn’t exactly like it seemed in movies.)

He Deserves a Shot at Being Happy alos by @chronicolicity

(Short version: an AU where Tommy Merlyn didn’t die, and is around for season 2 of Arrow.Long version:
Tommy Merlyn has spent most of his life being an expensive disappointment to his family, but now he’s a part-owner of a semi-successful nightclub in the worst area of town (it’s seriously looking up) alongside his best friend, who — after five years on a deserted island — decided to come back to be a freaking vigilante. It’s a long story, one that’s longer than Tommy wants to remember, but it took the Glades collapsing and the death of one of their best friends to get him officially done with being a troublemaker. Nothing interesting. Just running a nightclub, and trying not to get into any trouble.Oliver’s been gone god knows where for most of the summer, which means he’s stuck being the big brother to the guy’s snarky little sister, whose boyfriend “Ron” seems completely set on getting himself killed. An afternoon of test-driving Verdant’s new cocktails gets interesting when Felicity Smoak and John Diggle show up asking (more) questions about where to find Oliver, and Tommy has to decide whether he wants to keep his new rule.Spoiler alert: he doesn’t.) It’s so good guys… THE SLOWEST OF SLOW BURNS BUT SO FLIPPING REWARDING.

In Another Life

(Their lives couldn’t be more different - and yet Oliver can’t take his eyes off the beautiful blonde woman that leaves the subway every morning at 7.43am. There is something about her that makes him look up every morning - something that also makes him aware he’ll never be good enough for her, or that she’d even notice him.He had no idea how much his life would change the day he rushed over to help her…Olicity AU - no Lian Yu, no saving the city (at least not in the way we know from Arrow :D ))

Felicity Takes a Holiday

(Frustrated by Oliver’s apparent indifference, Felicity takes a solo trip to NYC where she meets with unexpected dangers. Is it super-soldiers amped up on Mirakuru, or Beasts created by Muirfield? Starts at the end of Season 2; a story of how Oliver comes to realize that he is in love with Felicity, told with help from CW’s Beauty and the Beast and a whole lot of Diggle.)

What’s a Little History Between Me and You by @sarcasticfina

([Canon-Divergent] In the wake of The Undertaking, Felicity returns to Starling City when her brother Tommy is severely injured, and soon finds her world turned completely upside down.)

Can’t say how the days will unfold

Can’t change what the future may hold

She had received another letter from the battlefield. The courier had arrived not long ago, and upon seeing the name of the sender, (Name) had rushed to her room and all but tore open the envelope.

George had sent her a missive.

Reading the words, her heart grew heavy - as if the sentences were weights upon her chest, making it infinitely harder to breathe.

They had lost yet another battle. There was no official number of casualties as of yet, but George expected them to be plentiful. But that was not the worst part. Now, the army would settle into their winter encampments at Valley Forge.

Already, George had received reports of disease claiming the lives of his soldiers - appendages lost to frostbite because the army could not spare no shoe nor glove. George knew they were low on rations, and starvation seemed inevitable.

The general knew very well he could lose half his army to the unforgiving winter ahead, and with the dollar devaluing as much as it had, he was unsure of their ability to finance another campaign.

With all odds stacked so clearly against their favor, hope was as scarce a resource as the food on their tables.

This was the end of the revolution.

But I want you in it

Every hour, every minute

(Name) couldn’t stifle the sob that escaped her lips at the sight of the written words.

The script was untidy and almost unreadable - as if her husband’s hand had shaken profusely upon writing. The ink ran where teardrops that had long-since dried fell; black smudges at the margins where fingers hastily tried to wipe the salty drops away.

She buried her face in her hands as her heart bled with the pain of it all. Never had she felt so helpless. So unable to do anything to help the man she loved so dearly, when his world was crashing down around him.

Her place was at his side; to be there to take his hand even when they faced the darkest of times.

So why, then, was she here - beyond her husband’s reach when he needed her most?

This world can race by far too fast

Hard to see while it’s all flying past

There seemed to be new developments everyday. News of battles that would shape the outcome of this gruesome war.

In such charged times, rumors were as common as the events themselves - taking on such detail and life that they resembled reality.

She wondered if there would come a day when her heart wouldn’t stop when she heard someone whispering of her husband’s rumored capture.

Now, however, fighting was at a standstill as the armies retreated into their winter camps. In those freezing quarters, it would be a fight for survival - the chill as lethal as bullets and bayonets. Here, even the greatest of generals could not outmaneuver the hunger their men had to suffer - helpless and unable to fight back.

And George… he would be alone. Nothing but his darkest thoughts to keep him company on the long, winter nights. Blaming himself. Loathing himself. Suffering.

It was those thoughts that finally made the decision (Name) had been debating upon for some time now.

The answer was quite simple: she could not let that happen.

But it’s clear now

When you’re standing here now

“Please tell the coachman to ready the carriage. I shall ride for Pennsylvania tonight.”

I am meant to be

Wherever you are next to me

It was a ten-day journey - traversing over hundreds of miles to reach the military encampment. A weariness had settled into (Name)’s bones from the unforgiving travel.

But that did not matter.

Not when she was getting closer and closer to her husband with each turn of the wheel. Not when she felt as if she could nearly burst with happiness at the prospect of seeing him again. Of having the chance to be there for him and to console him - to take him into her arms for he would have no one else’s.

She could not keep the smile from her face at the thought.

To be his wife.

He did not have to face the dark winter alone any longer. Not when she would be there.

Outside, the dark forest, faintly lit by the light of the moon, passed by. (Name) gazed out the window - determination shining clearly in her eyes.

‘I am on my way, George.’

All I want to do

“Sir? There is a woman at the door, asking for you.”

“A woman?” George questioned, looking up from his writing in confusion. Another letter to congress, begging for supplies.

“Yes sir,” the soldier continued. “She says it’s urgent.”

The general’s brow furrowed.

“I have five minutes. Send her in.”

Is come running home to you

Come running home to you

“Five minutes, George? I’m quite certain you have more time than that.”

The quill in the commander-in-chief’s hand froze mid-stroke. The ink began to blot as the stain grew wider - effectively ruining the letter and ensuring he would have to rewrite the missive.

But George could not bring himself to care.

He knew that voice. With its tone colored in amusement, and the smile practically visible in the words…

But it could not be.

She was hundreds of miles from him, in the safety of their home. Perhaps he was imagining things.

But… did he dare to hope?

With a shaky breath, the general raised his eyes from the piece of parchment.

And like an impossible wish granted, there she was.

His eyes were wide with awe and disbelief - a single word ringing in his stupefied mind.

And all my life I promise to

Keep running home to you

In great strides that bordered a run, George swiftly closed the distance between them, and took his wife into his arms.

He embraced (Name) as tightly as he could without hurting her. His hold was almost desperate - a strong hand resting protectively behind her head to shield her from the world outside.

And if (Name) could feel hot moisture trickle from where her husband’s face was buried in the crook of her neck - she did not mention it.

Keep running home…

“You cannot be here, dearest,” said George urgently, eyes almost frantic when he fully realized the dangers of their situation.

To this, however, (Name) smiled with eyebrows raised - as if taking the worried words as a challenge.

“If you think I am leaving you to brave this winter alone, you are sorely mistaken, my dear.”

Adamantly, the commander shook his head.

No. I will not have you in danger. I will not risk it. I need you safe, (Name). I need you to go home, this instant.”

To you.

“I am home, George.”

Oh, and I could see it

Right from the start

Right from the start

From there, everything had changed.

The soldiers and staff could see it; the way the general walked with something of a spring in his step. He was more sure, more hopeful. His voice was clear and confident - his decisions certain and precise.

His troops could notice the change as well - the commander’s new-found vigor, boosting morale and spreading hope amongst the army like a wildfire.

And ever-beside the great commanding officer was his wife - never faltering in her duties as the Mrs. General.

The soldiers smiled to themselves whenever they caught sight of the couple.

It appears Mrs. Washington had packed the renewed spirit of the army in her trunks.

That you would be

Be my light in the dark

Light in the dark

When spring came, and the snow melted, the fighting inevitably resumed. (Name) knew of the risk of staying with the army in these times, and knew it was far too dangerous to remain. And so she exchanged a somber goodbye with her husband, before returning to Virginia.

But in some ways, it felt as if she had not left.

Her letters kept the flame of hope blazing brightly in the general’s heart. In the most trying of times, she was George’s beacon of hope - his raft upon sea. She was not there in person, no - but he felt as if she was still near. As if still with him in heart and spirit.

She was there, by his side, through the bloody battles - when the smoke of gunpowder choked his lungs and it seemed all was lost.

She was there when he grappled with congress for supplies - his frustration, near-overwhelming.

She was there when his nightmares woke him in the wee hours of dawn.

There when they finally began to win more and more victories over the enemy.

There when he began to prepare battle strategies for final attack.

And she was there, by his side, when Cornwallis surrendered his troops at Yorktown.

Oh, you gave me no other choice but to love you

On the 3rd of September, 1783, Washington received word that their delegation had signed the Treaty of Paris, containing the British terms of surrender.

And for a few seconds, he could do nothing but sit in stupefied silence.

Against all odds, they had done it.

They had won.

All I want to do

It was nighttime when the carriage crossed the border into Virginia. Foreign fields transformed into familiar landscapes - into panoramas he knew well since childhood. And at the sight, George Washington could not help the tears that sprang to his eyes.

For so long, he wondered if he would ever be able to return. On those infinitely long nights - miles and miles away, in a camp with his army - he feared he had bid the place of his birth his final farewell. He knew not if his endeavors would end with a victory, or end at the gallows. If he would be able to come out of the war alive, or if he would perish with the rest of his men.

But now… all of that was over.

And he was coming home.

The carriage moved swiftly, but not nearly as fast as George would have wanted.

How could one be patient, when their home was so close after being out of reach for so long? How could one be patient, when the love of their life was on the other side?

‘Just a little longer,’ George thought to himself.

'I’m coming home, (Name).’

Is come running home to you

Come running home to you

At Mount Vernon, a piece of parchment found its way into the hands of (Name) Washington from the courier.

On it were four simple words, written hastily - tears staining the cheeks of both author and recipient.

'Will be home soon.’

And all my life I promise to

Keep running home to you

It was dawn when (Name) saw the carriage coming - like a scene she had imagined so many times before.

She did not know for certain who its passenger was. It could very well have been another acquaintance or perhaps even a tradesman.

But her heart - oh, it was screaming George’s name.

And so against all logic and reasoning, she ran.

She knew it was undignified for her to do so. Unladylike. Unbecoming of a woman of her stature to run like a youngling in a game of tag.

And it did not matter the slightest bit. Not when George was on the other side.

So she kept running.

Keep running home…

He did not know what made him do it. It was instinct - a tug in his heart he knew well never to ignore. It went against all sense; he was mere seconds away from the front doors of his home.

But he did it anyway.

“Stop the carriage,” he barked almost urgently to the coachman.

He nearly pitched forwards at the abrupt stop, and tumbled almost clumsily out of the carriage - his footing not quite so secure.

But then he looked up, and what he saw made his heart swell and his eyes water.

Because his wife was there - smiling more radiantly than a thousand suns because he was home and he was safe.

And she was running towards him.

His feet were moving - leaping, striding, before he could even think of what to do next. Then suddenly, propriety was worth as much as a handful of ash, and he was running towards her with an urgency he had never felt before in all his time on earth.

She was getting closer.

And closer.

Home to you

And when they met, the world melted away - fading to the background and of no consequence whatsoever.

Suddenly, all the struggle, the heartache, the worry; years of tears and fear and helplessness and hopelessness… it meant nothing.

Her husband was back home to her - breathing - alive. So wonderfully, wonderfully alive. And nothing on the face of the earth mattered except the man she had in her arms.

And for the battle-worn general, everything else could rot in hell for all he cared.

Because he had his wife now. That was all that ever mattered.

He was home.

Can’t say how the days will unfold

Can’t change what the future may hold

Neither of them knew what would happen in the days or the months or the years to come. What hurdles lay ahead - what seemingly insurmountable mountains they would have to climb. Their role in the birth of this nation was not yet finished - on the contrary, just beginning - and the future would not be an easy one. It never was.

…But now was not the time to worry about such things.

Now, the sun was rising above the horizon.

Now, husband and wife were reunited.

And that was everything.

But I want you in it

Every hour, every minute…

Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 5APart 6Part 7, and Part 8

Part 1

It’s not the first time you’ve been in the common kitchen at Avengers Tower, but it is your first time as a resident. Finally, officially, with your last box of sci-fi novels rescued from the wrong removalist van, you’ve moved into the Tower. The coffee from Tony’s state of the art machine has never tasted so good.

Tony rarely uses the kitchen for breakfast (he’s never around before noon) but today he’s made an exception. He’s not feeling so out of character as to put on actual clothes, and so while you’re in your usual pressed best, he is un-ironically wearing a matching Iron Man pyjamas set.

A Father's Gift

ok i love dad!spy and son!scout a lot so i made a fic about an interaction they have one night! heads up: in this fic, its like almost a year after comic #7’s events and at this point, scout knows without question that spy is his dad. also i wanna thank @oddport-fiction for inspiring me to write something for once lol. i havent written anything more than a drabble in a while, so huge thanks to them!

Rating: G
Words: 2,005

In the line of work that involves hunting down and assassinating men while simultaneously being hunted down as a target for assassination, being a deep sleeper would not seem very beneficial. That is not to say that the Spy never slept soundly and securely, but dreams were often a rarity. Due to his constantly attentive nature, it was no surprise that he woke up immediately and somewhat startled – though he would never admit to that – at the slightest noise right outside his bedroom.

Good news! It is an enjoyable movie. The dialogue’s good and genuinely funny. Diana is super awesome and charming as she should be, full of love and kindness while still being a badass. She’s not portrayed as hyperviolent or super angry or any of the pitfalls I’ve seen writers fall into with her. Steve was way more tolerable than the trailers made him look, Etta was great for the 5 seconds she was in it (WE’LL GET BACK TO THAT). The fight scenes really over relied on slow mo (we are talking 300 levels here) but eh, I at least prefer that to not being able to tell what the hell is going on and they were pretty awesome.

The movie had an overall optimistic tone which I think is really important for a Wonder Woman movie. You never felt depressed or monotonous watching it. They also actually gave a good explanation for the “I gave up on humanity” bullshit we saw in BVS. Turns out she didn’t and has been working to help us behind the scenes, but also decided to step back and let people decide for themselves about stuff cuz she can’t choose for them or whatever. IT DOESN’T REALLY MAKE SENSE BUT I’LL ROLL WITH IT.

The movie also did not, thank god, pull any of the “Diana is SEXIST TOWARDS MEN omg and needs to learn they’re not ALL BAD after those nasty Amazons corrupted her” like in the animated movie or JLU or various bad comics. The focus was instead on Diana dealing with the atrocities humanity committed in general rather than doing some hackneyed battle of the sexes shit, so that was a good move. It also wasn’t quite as white as the trailers made it look and even discussed racism a little.

Honestly if it weren’t for the ending and one other BIG issue, I’d give it an A-.

The main issue, without going into spoilers is how dude-heavy it is. The first bit is all about the Amazons, yeah, but then we get to the main plot and Diana will barely interacts with other women after that. The most she does is her little shopping trip with Etta. Etta, as I mentioned earlier, is barely in it. She’s completely removed from the action. Considering she’s Diana’s best friend and constant sidekick in the original comics, and as such should be as much an inspiration to Diana as Steve and the other pals. I really see no reason she couldn’t have come along with Steve’s gang.

In any other movie, sidelining female characters is expected, but for a Wonder Woman movie, it’s a kind of a huge thing to get wrong and pretty glaring. Diana doesn’t even really interact with Doctor Poison at all, which could have been really interesting, nor is Doctor Poison much of a character at all period, and is basically the lackey for dudes.

Then we have the ending and the general mythology they built, which is pretty different from the comics and there’s the way certain characters are treated that bothers me. BIG SPOILERS HERE.

Sometimes two wrongs make a twisted right

                                                Short author’s note

In no way am I a real writer, it’s just something I dabble in for fun sometimes, so don’t judge harshly lol I just had this  modern rosvolio AU idea so yeah…happy reading :)

Rosaline Capulet could not believe it!! Her cousin wouldn’t be so foolish as to get married straight out of college and to a Montague no less.  There had been a long lasting feud between the Capulets and Montagues for as long as both families could remember. To hate a Capulet or a Montague was like the rite of passage to both families, so imagine Juliet’s mother’s reaction when on their weekly Saturday dinner Juliet announced she was engaged. At first the whole clan couldn’t have been happier for their dear Juliet, but things changed the moment Rosaline’s cousin revealed the lucky man’s name: Romeo Montague. Let’s just say the evening went downhill from there. But Rosaline had to hand it to her cousin, Juliet was nothing if not determined when she wanted something there was no way of stopping her. No matter how much both Juliet and Romeo’s families tried to “talk some sense” into the young couple nothing seemed to work. The disasterous feud their families have been apart of had  no significance to the two lovebirds. As much as Rosaline tried to intervene with her common sense and logic it seemed Juliet was already a lost cause.

“Please, cousin, do not be foolish, it’s a short lived affection and nothing more. He is a Montague after all”. Rosaline’s tongue curled in deep disgust at the mention of her family’s rivals.

“Ah, Rose so you know the deepest parts of my heart, do you now? Maybe someone who hasn’t had a date in two years shouldn’t be giving love advice”. Juliet’s not so subtle jab didn’t go unnoticed as Rosaline rolled her eyes at her cousin’s comment.

“You very well know that’s a choice! Men are overrated anyways”. Juliet couldn’t help, but laugh from her friend.

To a hopeless romantic like Juliet love was the main thing that kept the world spinning, but Rosaline? She was quite more practical and lived in the  ’‘real world’’ as she put it. She was never one to get sentimental easily, when girls at high school were pining over boys Rosaline looked the other way. Rosaline figured she would know when she met someone she clicked with and never really thought about it again. The clicking part had yet to happen, but if it never did Rosaline wasn’t one of those girls whose life would be ruined if she didn’t have a boyfriend to prance around with.

“You need to give Romeo a chance, Rose! You’ll see he will fit right in”. A sneaky smile appeared on Juliet’s face, a smile she wore when she was up to something.

“I sure hope so. I mean I feel for the poor lad already, he will have to survive your mother’s wrath and hey on the bright side if he does not you won’t have a groom to marry”. The only response Rosaline got from Juliet was a pillow to her head.

“Hey! Don’t shoot the messanger dear cousin. I mean I wholeheartedly think that you’re crazy, but I expect to be a maid of honor and nothing less will suffice”.

Juliet knew that it was Rosaline’s way of giving her blessing and a thankful smile appeared on her pale lips. They rarely agreed on anything, but they were family and Juliet needed all the support she could get.

“Of course, how could you not? Oh, and wait till you meet the best man! Very easy on the eyes…I think you two would be a perfect match”. Juliet sent a flirty wink Rosaline’s way.

“Okay, cupid I think you should concentrate on your own relationship, not mine”. With a pointed look Rosaline rose from the bed.

“You will like Ben, you’ll see”.

“Ben?? as in Benvolio Montague??!”. Usually composed Rosaline in a blink of an eye turned into a mad woman the second she heard his name.

“You know of him?”. Juliet wore a puzzled expression.

“You can say that…” A low growl left Rosaline’s lips and if looks could kill…well, poor Juliet would be dead already.

“Doesn’t seem like you two were on friendly terms”. Juliet stated trying to avoid Rosaline’s gleaming eyes.

“Of course we weren’t! What Montague and Capulet are? Oh, well apart from you and Romeo. That bastard was the bane of my existence in college. I swear if I see him ever again I’ll poke his eyes out with a fork and hang the rest of his remains on a pole”.

“Wow there’s major pent up frustration from your side, Rose. What did he do to you?”. Juliet asked quite intrigued. It was weird to see her as ever composed cousin so disheveled just from hearing Benvolio’s name.

“What didn’t he do to me? I swear that man is the most annoying, self centered, playboy there is! If that’s the company Romeo keeps I doubt he’s any good for you”. Rosaline was already on one of her long rants and Juliet knew better than to interupt her now. That didn’t mean she was listening to a single thing though…No the young Juliet was planning a scheme. She wouldn’t have her wedding ruined just because of a little squabble between these two hotheads. In Juliet’s romanticized dream world she even believed that Rosaline and Benvolio could be still star crossed lovers…

A Front-Row Seat to Justice: Why Taylor Swift's Sexual Assault Lawsuit Victory Matters

by Sophie Schillaci
2:54 PM PDT, August 15, 2017

When the word “victory” comes to mind, so do celebrations and tears of joy.

In the case of Taylor Swift's legal victory over former radio DJ David Mueller in Denver, Colorado, on Monday, the win wasn’t quite so sweet. Even as Swift and her mother, Andrea, dissolved into tears in the courtroom, only they can say whether it was the product of grief, joy, relief, release or something in between.

The heart-wrenching moment was four years in the making, stemming from a 2013 meet-and-greet gone awry. On Monday, a silent, stone-faced Mueller was found liable of assault and battery on the then-23-year-old pop star. Her reward: $1 and vindication.

In the week since I began covering this trial, I’ve heard a lot of water cooler opinions from friends, acquaintances and strangers. Much of that commentary was positive, from praising Swift for her setting an example, to finding humor in her decision to sue for one measly dollar, to awe over her fiery testimony.

But I’ve heard from others who didn’t see the big deal with a butt grab, criticizing Swift for getting litigious over such a seemingly minor offense and going after the little guy, especially in light of all the other things happening in the world right now.

What I’ve found is that many people weren’t fully informed on the case or the details. Key among them: Swift never asked for any of this.

And, yes, the tale of Mueller vs. Swift is a complicated one – so here’s the story, in non-legal terms, and here’s why it matters that a jury in a civil case ruled in her favor.

On June 2, 2013, in Denver, Colorado, Swift participated in a series of meet-and-greets with fans and local radio employees prior to taking the stage at the Pepsi Center on her Red Tour. During one fan meet-and-greet, Swift met then-KYGO-FM morning host Mueller (aka “Jackson” from the “Ryno and Jackson” show) for the first time. By her account, he and then-girlfriend Shannon Melcher (also a KYGO employee) appeared to have been drinking. Mueller informed Swift that he worked in radio, she thanked him, and the trio posed for a photo. That’s when – Swift, her bodyguard and her photographer all testified to witnessing – Mueller, a virtual stranger, reached his hand under Swift’s skirt, grabbed her “bare a**” (Swift’s words in court) and grinned widely for a photo.

To be specific: Swift’s lawyer, Doug Baldridge, referred to it as a “s**t-eating grin” in his closing arguments.

Stunned, Swift in court said she “lurched” away – towards Melcher – with a mechanical smile frozen on her face. In the moments that followed, Swift said she stared at the ground, muttered an automatic “Thank you for coming,” and turned to continue the assembly line of meeting and greeting her next batch of fans.

“This is not something that I wanted people to know,” Swift testified on Thursday during the trial. “[It] would have ruined their concert experience, and made them feel really awkward.”

When the last fans had left, Swift recalled saying to her photographer, Stephanie Simbeck: “Dude, that guy grabbed my a**.” Simbeck agreed and quickly pulled up the photo of Mueller and Melcher, with the former’s hand captured on film looking just-so.

Later that night, Swift emotionally confided in her mother about the alleged incident. From there, Swift’s mother called on members of Swift’s senior management team, including her radio promotions director, Frank Bell, to discuss next steps. Mueller and Melcher were removed from the venue and his KYGO bosses were informed of the allegations. Swift went onstage and performed like a pro.

Two days later, after conducting an internal investigation into the matter and during which Mueller denied all wrongdoing, the then-51-year-old was released from his $150,000 per-year, two-year contract on what was believed to be a violation of his morality clause.

Outside of involving KYGO brass, Team Swift insisted on keeping the incident close to their proverbial vests. The photo in question was never released and the police were never called. (During the course of legal proceedings, the photo was eventually published by TMZ. Both parties have denied leaking the image.) What they tried desperately to avoid, Andrea Swift testified, was allowing that moment to live in infamy, following the singer through future interviews, cruel social media memes and gifs.

Two years later, the situation did go public. In 2015, still without a job and hoping to “clear his name,” Mueller filed a $3 million lawsuit targeting Swift, her mother and Bell, and detailing the allegations made against him after the events that night. His point: Team Swift got him fired and tarnished his reputation within the radio industry.

Though the “Bad Blood” singer had previously opted to keep quiet about that night, never filing criminal charges against Mueller, this is when she decided to take action. With plenty of resources to support herself through a legal battle, Swift had nothing to lose and a big point to make.

Swift and her legal team retaliated quickly against Mueller with a civil countersuit, seeking just $1 in damages over her own allegations of sexual assault and battery. Her goal, simply put: to prove a point and to serve as a role model to other women.

You see, sexual assault survivor wasn’t a role Swift hoped or expected to be championing, but she donned it fearlessly like a shiny new suit of armor.

“I’m being blamed for the unfortunate events of his life that are a product of his decisions, not mine,” she seethed from the witness stand. “I am not going to allow you … to make me feel like this is my fault, because it isn’t.“

In the end, Swift’s name was completely removed from Mueller’s original complaint by the conclusion of the testimonies in civil court. (To explain briefly: Swift never actually contacted Mueller’s employers at KYGO, while Bell and Andrea Swift are technically employed by 13 Management – not Swift.) And in what looked like a bold power move, Swift’s lawyer opted out of presenting his own case to defend Bell and Andrea Swift, as well as Swift’s counterclaim. Instead, he chose to let the plaintiff’s case – complete with testimonies and cross examinations of all key witnesses – stand on its own, and move forward with a verdict.

On the sixth day of Mueller vs. Swift, the eight-person civil jury (six women and two men), unanimously agreed that Mueller did, in fact, grope Swift (he was found liable for both assault and battery) and that neither Andrea Swift nor Bell intentionally interfered with his KYGO contract. Their deliberation lasted all of about four hours.

The next day, Mueller maintained his innocence in an appearance on Good Morning America.

Sexual assault isn’t always as ugly or violent as rape. Sometimes it is just a butt bare a** grab. But the feelings of shame, humiliation, fear, rage and every shade in between are no less real for anyone who has been victimized, touched or objectified in a way that they did not consent to. To be perfectly clear, Swift’s career as a performer in the public eye does not equal consent to objectification.

At several points during the trial, Mueller’s lawyer, Gabriel McFarland, attempted to call into question the immediate response – or lack thereof – to the alleged groping. He wondered aloud why Swift still appeared to be smiling in the photo with Mueller; why her bodyguard, Greg Dent, didn’t leap into action, even though he testified to seeing Mueller’s hand reach up Swift’s skirt; why Swift and her team didn’t get the police involved.

(Responses, respectively: Swift’s smile was frozen; Dent sought a cue from Swift that never came; and Swift wanted to keep the alleged incident out of the press.)

The problem with McFarland’s questions, though, is that no one plans or expects to be groped. There’s no textbook response to being assaulted. In the words of the singer’s testimony: "None of us expected this to happen – it had never happened before. … It was horrifying, shocking, and we had never experienced it before.”

While Swift’s presence was formidable on the stand, with ice in her veins and a focused ferocity in her words, her vulnerability and humanity was undeniable as she cried, hiding her face from McFarland’s accusations of fabricating her story in his closing argument.

Again… there’s no textbook response to reliving a nightmare and being called a liar in front of a room full of strangers. In my opinion, Swift handled an extremely difficult and stressful circumstance with guts and grace.

In the moments after the verdict was reached, Swift issued a statement via her publicist promising to extend her support to less-fortunate victims of sexual assault. Meanwhile, in front of the courthouse, Baldridge spoke passionately to members of the press about the significance of Swift’s $1 victory.

“That dollar is a single dollar and it is of immeasurable value in this ever-going fight for us to figure out what’s right and what’s wrong and tolerance, whose body is whose,” Baldridge told reporters.

“I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this,” Swift said in her written statement. “My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves."

Cold air breathed on his skin from the moment he got out of the car. It was dark outside, and a quiet stillness surrounded the small apartment complex where he and you lived. A hand ran through his hair out of frustration, not minding that he was messing up the way he meticulously styled it this morning; after all, by now, his hair looked messy anyway. Tired fingers fumbled with the silver keys of the apartment door, and it took him three times until he turned the key the correct way. A small grunt escaped his lips in irritation, and he swung the door open before stepping inside. The apartment was dark, as it should be during this hour. However, he saw the faint light of the small TV screen was keeping the place dimly lit.

“Welcome home,” he heard your voice call from the couch, and he saw your sluggishly move to see him. “How was work? You came home pretty late.”

His jaw locked at the last comment, and his chest began to burn with the toxic anger that had churned from the moment he had left the photo-shoot. Being only a rookie model was hell. Uncooperative managers, deadbeat photographers, and intense competition— the whole industry for modeling was completely cutthroat. Even if he was gradually getting more and more popularity, he could be easily be kicked to the side with a single flick of the wrist. Perhaps that’s why he hasn’t been paying much attention to you since he was too focused on his own image. Skin clear, smile white, hair perfect— those were only the few standards for a model. And Oikawa, who stood against men with colored eyes and sun-kissed skin and perfect bodies— he almost appeared generic next to them. Each day was a struggle for the fittest, and today was no exception.

”Oikawa-san, can you give me a little bit more?”

“You look hideous in those clothes, and they’re a brand name… No way we can advertise the brand when you look like crap.”

“Oikawa, you’re not doing anything for me. Miyamoto, replace Oikawa for me, will you?”

“How do you expect to be a model with a face like that?”

“How did someone like you even get in here? Is that really all you got?”

They were rougher than usual today, the photographers. Out of all the photos taken that day, Oikawa was only taken in three of them, all of which were group photos to enhance the image of another model. There was no way he could make a break for it if he just kept screwing up.

”You’re not the only pretty one here,” one of the models had told him. “Just because you got a lot of hype back in high school doesn’t mean jack shit. Go back to your volleyball, kid.”

Your voice snapped him back to reality.

“Shut up,” are the first words that spat out of his mouth. His tone surprises even him, but for some reason, it feels good. He feels like that poison in his chest is rolling right off his tongue. He wants to get rid of that building acid. He wants to be clean. And so he keeps going. “You know, you don’t have any idea how hard it is to be a model. With that weight? You wouldn’t even be considered.” And his heart doesn’t even stop him. “Like, you should consider yourself lucky to even talk to a guy like me… Really… How did someone like you even get in here?

The light is faint, but he can see the surprise twist your expression. Watery flecks of pain reflect in your eyes and he stands there for a second, paralyzed under your broken gaze. He knew that your body was a touchy subject that you didn’t like to talk about; it was an insecurity that had formed from the beginning of middle school. Even now, when you were beautiful regardless of whatever your weight was, you were still sensitive on the topic. The toxic in his chest was replaced by a painful wave of guilt that shook his chest. He mirrored your look of pain except with remorse written all over his face.

He watched your figure get up from the couch and quietly walk to the bedroom. The sound of the door locking shut proved to him that this time he went too far.

The next morning Oikawa surprises you with the scent of burnt toast and scrambled charcoal. When you go in the kitchen to see what he’s doing, the brown-haired male stiffens and tries to hide his mess.

“Ah..? Ah! This? This, uh— You woke up too early, and I thought I’d have time to— you know, make it up—” he began, and he shut off the stove before something blew up. Feebly, he looked back at the pans he ruined just trying to make eggs, and he glanced back at you with a hopeful smile. “Let’s go out to eat for breakfast!” he offered instead, taking off his ruined apron (which was actually yours; Oikawa was definitely not the cook of the house).

After getting ready for your impromptu date, he looked over at you and noticed your downcast expression. “I’m sorry for making you wash all the dishes after my disaster,” he said with a small laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’ll make it up to you! Just you wait, ____-chan!” He offers that bright goofy smile of his and takes your hand as you two exit the apartment complex.

However, the date goes terribly wrong. At the café you go to, you end up spilling your coffee on yourself and ruining your outfit. He drags you to go shopping and offers to let you buy anything you want, but whatever you want is either out of your size, or you get odd looks from the judgemental workers. Oikawa could swear there’s tears in your eyes by the time you two leave the fifth shop that day, empty-handed. His heart swells with this unforgiving pain, and he wants to reach out to you and comfort you. Funny, though. He was holding your hand, you were right by his side, and yet– You were so far away from him.

“Tooru…” It’s dark again, and your voice drifts out like a lonely gust of air. Oikawa lifts his head to glance at you, only illuminated by the lamplights scattered around the park. His hand grips yours a bit tighter; he feels like you’re slipping away from him.

“You’re right. You can do a lot better than just me… I mean, you could be getting a lot more publicity if you dated another model or actress than some stupid, ugly nobody—”

“____.” His voice is serious now, and he jerks you towards him. In a swift movement, he lets go of your hand and his arms wrap around your waist firmly. There’s something different about this hug; it’s nearly childish, like a desperate and immature fear that you’d slip away from him at any moment. “Don’t ever say something like that again.” He buries his head into your neck and takes everything in: the feeling of your skin, the scent of your shampoo, the crook of your neck and how it fit with his forehead. No one could possibly replace you, no matter how rich, now matter how pretty, no matter how famous. God, he would be a mess without you.

“I was a big idiot, okay? You can hit me if you want,” he laughed a bit bitterly as he pulled back, but his forehead was still pressed against yours. “I shouldn’t have said what I said yesterday. You’re beautiful, and fun, and pretty, and nice and—God, you’re so nice to me— How you put up with all of this— really, you’re just out of this world—” He gave another goofy smile at his cheesy alien pick-up line and then laughed. He wondered briefly if you could see the light reflecting on the tears beginning to rim his eyes.

You did.

“Just promise me you’ll never cook again,” you whisper softly, lifting a finger to rub his tears before they fell. “I forgive you, Tooru.” You playfully slapped the taller male’s shoulder. “And that’s for being an idiot.”

“Hey, ____-chan, will you give me a kiss to make me feel better? Right here?” He cheekily pursed in his lips forward, and you rolled your eyes.

Letting go of him, you moved away and began walking ahead of him. “Talk space stuff to me, Tooru,” you said, glancing back at him with a small grin, “and maybe I’ll think about it.”

You didn’t know, did you? When you smiled, Tooru swore he saw stars in your eyes.

Cas brings up marriage and is surprised when Dean gets angry and stomps off. Proposal fic.

“Should we get married?” Cas’s question rolled off his tongue long before he had time to think about what he was saying, which wasn’t really so unusual for him. He was staring up at the television in the corner of a humdrum convenience store they’d come across following a hunt. On the screen there was a news anchor. She was interviewing two young men, both of whom were clearly happy about their decision to get married despite the controversy circulating the country pertaining to gay marriage.

“What?” Dean was standing beside him, pausing in his search for potato chips.

“Marriage,” Cas repeated, finally looking away from the television to take in Dean’s furrowed brows. “After an allotted amount of time, human couples normally get married, don’t they? Should we get married?”

Dean blinked, silent as he tried to digest what was happening. Sam too, who was on the other side of the aisle, paused to listen in on the conversation. It’d been a year since Dean and Cas had finally gotten together, but their time knowing each other extended so much further that it seemed like much longer. At least to Dean. Cas’s idea of time was somewhat skewed, what with him having been an angel and all.

“Are… are you asking me to marry you?” Dean practically balked, still uncertain of what to make of where this conversation was going. “Are you proposing?”

Under the cut you’ll find ### lyrics from seven Broadway shows. They could be useful for bios lyrics, sidebar descriptions, para titles, plot or character inspiration. The lyrics aren’t necessarily in order as they appear in the show, but they are grouped by song. My favorites are bolded. PS I would suggest looking up the context of the lyrics before using (especially because all these songs are too good to not listen to).

I was wondering if you know of any books that are fantasy or perhaps dystopian that have queer/lesbian main characters? Thanks!

(Combining this ask with this one too since I haven’t had chance to answer it: “Do you know of any books that are fantasy, or perhaps dystopian. Anything with vampires… Oh, and if they could contain either genderqueer people or lesbians I would be v happy. Thanks”)

One of my favourite queer dystopian novels is probably Love in the time of Global Warming by Francesca Lee Block (x). Pretty much all the main characters are queer, the main character is bisexual, her love interest is a trans man, her two other friends are also queer, it’s been a while since I read it but from what I remember they end up in a same sex relationship together. “Her life by the sea in ruins, Pen has lost everything in the Earth Shaker that all but destroyed the city of Los Angeles. She sets out into the wasteland to search for her family, her journey guided by a tattered copy of Homer’s Odyssey. Soon she begins to realize her own abilities and strength as she faces false promises of safety, the cloned giants who feast on humans, and a madman who wishes her dead.”

Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith (x) is another novel set in a dystopia setting. “Sixteen-year-old Austin Szerba interweaves the story of his Polish legacy with the story of how he and his best friend , Robby, brought about the end of humanity and the rise of an army of unstoppable, six-foot tall praying mantises in small-town Iowa.” Austin is bisexual/pansexual though he never uses the words.

The Second Mango by Shira Glassman (x) is the first novel in her fantasy series. The main character is a lesbian and there are several other characters throughout the series who are also queer. “Queen Shulamit never expected to inherit the throne of the tropical land of Perach so young. At twenty, grief-stricken and fatherless, she’s also coping with being the only lesbian she knows after her sweetheart ran off for an unknown reason. Not to mention, she’s the victim of severe digestive problems that everybody think she’s faking.”

Proxy by Alex London (x) “Knox was born into one of the City’s wealthiest families. A Patron, he has everything a boy could possibly want—the latest tech, the coolest clothes, and a Proxy to take all his punishments. When Knox breaks a vase, Syd is beaten. When Knox plays a practical joke, Syd is forced to haul rocks. And when Knox crashes a car, killing one of his friends, Syd is branded and sentenced to death. Syd is a Proxy. His life is not his own.” The character Syd is gay from what I’ve read.

The End by Nora Olsen (x) I was reading an article (x) which said “my debut novel (The End) was an apocalyptic YA novel with lesbian, bisexual, and genderqueer main characters.” So while I haven’t read it you might wanna check it out (this article also talks about other dystopian queer novels). “When World War Three breaks out, seventeen-year-old Julia is on a school trip to Amsterdam, while fourteen-year-old Marly is trapped in a prison for delinquent girls. They both discover magical amulets, and try their best to save themselves and those around them. But it looks like their best will not be enough, as nuclear war threatens the survival of the human race. On her journey home to New York, Julia is joined by three other queer teens and the mysterious and alluring Ginger; lipstick lesbian Vikki; and five-thousand-year-old Skilly, who has an amulet that grants him eternal life.”

Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey (x) “Loup Garron was born and raised in Santa Olivia, an isolated, disenfranchised town next to a US military base inside a DMZ buffer zone between Texas and Mexico. A fugitive “Wolf-Man” who had a love affair with a local woman, Loup’s father was one of a group of men genetically-manipulated and used by the US government as a weapon. After her mother dies, Loup goes to live among the misfit orphans at the parish church, where they seethe from the injustices visited upon the locals by the soldiers. Eventually, the orphans find an outlet for their frustrations: They form a vigilante group to support Loup Garron who, costumed as their patron saint, Santa Olivia, uses her special abilities to avenge the town.” I think the main character is a lesbian and there is at least one other queer character.

And finally, because I just realised I didn’t include any vampires in this yet, here is a link to a list I did a while back: (x) and also a list for general LGBTQIA+ characters in sci fi and fantasy: (x)

I didn’t find as many genderqueer characters as I was hoping for but I’ll keep my eye for the future. Also, many of our followers often add to lists like this in the reblogs so keep an eye on that.

Of course he’s not impressed with the amount you gave him, not that you weren’t expecting such a reaction from the brute. You did all you could to gather those precious pounds, but you also have to buy your own food and possibly get some new, cheap clothes from time to time. You may not be the richest woman in London, but hell! You still remain a human being with primary needs after all. This rent is literally draining your whole soul out right now and the more time passes by, the more the overall debt seems to increase for some inexplicable reason.

Do you know any good larry royalty fics? Perhaps where either one or both of them are a prince/King? Thank you x

Royalty I

1.  Wear It Like A Crown by zarah5 (141k)

AU. As part of a team of fixers hired to handle a gay scandal in Buckingham Palace, Louis expects Prince Harry to be a lot of things—most notably a royally spoilt brat. Never mind that the very same Prince Harry used to star in quite a number of Louis’ teenage fantasies.

2.  feel the chemicals burn in my bloodstream by togetherwecouldbealright (123k)

“Alright, alright. No need to bite,” Harry says, holding his hands above his head in a general gesture of surrender.

Louis quirks an eyebrow and his foot nudges Harry’s as he moves to sit straight. “If that’s what you think biting is, you’ve got another thing coming, Styles.”

Harry blinks at him before he feels his face flush and inside the marrows of his bones there’s pulses of heat, pulses of fire spreading through him. “Is that a threat, your Highness?”

“That’s a promise,” Louis answers just as the car halts to a stop. “One I intend to keep.”

Harry is a journalist with a lot of secrets and Louis is the future king of the United Kingdom; they live together for 60 days.

3.  London is well worth a mass by dolphinaaaa (93.3k)

Louis is an Omega prince of France. When he is 13, he is betrothed to Harry of England for politics. The wedding will seal the alliance between the two coutries. This is their story.

4.  The Stars In Your Eyes Light Up The Sky by andthensusays (60k)

Once again, Harry’s life was on a fast track into seriously uncharted territory. He had known from the moment he’d woken up on that horrible morning that he would have no choice other than to come out. Publicly.

Harry Styles, the first publicly gay Prince of England in British History.

That would be his luck.

The one where Harry is a prince forced out of the closet and Louis is a boybander forced in. When they meet, everything changes.

5.  my kingdom for a kiss (tonight you’re on my mind) by ab_hinc (30.9k)

“Oh fuck, I’m going to have to tell my mum,” Louis says, closing his eyes.

The silence stretches between them for a long moment until Harry starts breathing heavily. “I’m going to have to tell the Queen,” he says, “and my mum.”

Or, the one where Zayn and Louis make a friendly wager and it goes too far, Harry’s a baker with a heart of gold and really great hair, Liam is an overworked PA who just wants to enjoy his holiday and Niall is completely at ease, as always. An accidentally married AU mixed with a splash of modern royalty.

6.  Common by corilannam (50.9k)

Henry VIII ruined it for everybody. Now the king or queen can only marry a person chosen by the magic of the church, or disaster will befall Britain. Prince Louis, heir apparent to the British throne, dislikes most things about his inheritance–but most of all that it could keep him from finding the real love of his life.

7.  sparkle, baby by thispieceofmind (3.7k)

“Do princes like to get fucked, Harry?”

8.  Turn and face the strange by paynegerous (26k)

“Yeah okay, look, um. I’m in a relationship now, mum. And it’s pretty serious and I’m very much in love with him.” Louis’ mum’s face lights up at that.

“Well why didn’t you say?! Can we meet him?! Is he here today?”

“This is the catch. He’s kind of, well, he’s incredibly famous. So he couldn’t be at the ceremony but he’s in the car and we’re going to go back to his home for some lunch, is that okay?”

“Famous?! Louis, if this is some sort of joke…”

“It’s not, mum, I promise. Please can you just get in the car? He’s in this one, I want you three to meet him first, just don’t freak out, please,” he says, gesturing at Harry’s traditional black car.

Or the one where Harry is going to be King, Louis can’t handle it like he thinks, Zayn is finally happy, Liam’s a massive geek and Niall’s marrying a princess.

9.  Toska by cathedralhearts (27.6k)

Louis Tomlinson is the Earl of Dalkeith and Harry Styles is the Earl of Burlington. Louis’s grandmother is pushing for an arranged marriage to Caroline Seymour and Louis is not only completely uninterested but completely gay. So, his best mate (and unrequited love of his life) Harry posits that there will be a marriage, but between them instead. Hijinks and lots of feels~ ensue.

10.  All The King’s Men by sacredheart (39.8k)

Louis is an arrogant, self assured prince who falls in love with a charming thief named Harry during his youth. However, years later, a revolution is sparked amongst the frustrated commoners… and Louis’s former teenage romance is leading it.
