Per the winemaker Sean Thackrey:
“The object of Pleiades Old Vines is to be delicious, delight the jaded, irritate the Wine Police and go well with anything red wine goes well with. The twentieth edition, bottled in February of 2011, includes Sangiovese, Viognier, Mourvedre, Syrah, and Pinot Noir, to name but a few. Fragrant and voluptuous when first released, it will become far more subtle and complex with a year or two of bottle age, although such restraint may be just a bit too much to ask of the most of us.”
The XX is richer, darker, and rounder than the 19, and went great with the grilled chicken and vegetables last night. As usual, this was a fun wine from a great maker.
