Calligraphy of ash-Sharh – Relief (Chapter 94 of the Quran)

In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy

Did We not relieve your heart for you, and remove the burden that weighed so heavily on your back, and raise your reputation high? So truly with hardship there is always ease; truly with hardship there is always ease. So when you are free, work on, and make your Lord your primary concern.

Hat is the art of drawing that is based on calligraphics writing. Skillfulness and patience are the base of this art. Even a person who cannot read the script may feel the balance, soul and joy inside of it. The true meaning of “Tezhib” is, on the other hand, gilding-inlaying of gold. “Müzehhip” is the artist who brings these two traditionalarts “Hat” and “Tezhib” together by embellishing “Hat” with complementary “Tezhib” patterns. That is a great joy and achievement for a “Müzehhip” to decide on the design and the composition complying with the style and the meaning of “Hat” (I, myself , will forever have these great feelings I have shared for eight years with my master, Cahide Keskiner).

Patterns and compositions comprise lots of meanings and Expressions:Roman patterns symbolize heads and wings of animals as squares and rectangles stand for earth. The continuous repetitions of the motifs represent the rhythm of the earth and universe while the triangular and spherical shapes express the sky. The color blue is the sybol of inifinity whereas gold stands for the sun.

Tezhib and Hat complete each other as a woman and a man. There should be strong balance sustained between the two so that one should not be sperior to the other .It is like a union of an old man with a young shy boy in case a composition is made by an inexperianced “Müzehhip” for a perfect and beautiful “Hat”.

Sincerity – Chapter 112 of the Quran

Say: “He is the One God: God, Who is in need of none and of Whom all are in need; He begets not, and neither is He begotten; and there is nothing that could be compared with Him.”
