textiles studio

This week we take a peek into the creative space of artist Ben Venom, known for his amazing skills with the sewing machine, creating some really massive quilts from used jeans, T-shirts and whatever he can get his hands on. With a studio based out of Haight / Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, CA,  Ben set up his studio “to accommodate [his] sewing machine, work table, fabric binds, and desk…  Anything bigger, flows into his kitchen.”  In addition to spending 3-4 days working in the studio, he splits his time over at the San Francisco Art Institute where he is also a Visiting Faculty member.  We’re excited to get a look into his tools, machines and quilted projects, and asked him a couple questions in our latest Studio Peeks.
