You know what? No. I rarely do anyways, but I’m not gonna reblog any “Looks at favorite author’s books and sees heaven, looks at my writing and sees a trash can” type of posts anymore. Is it relatable sometimes? Sure. Everyone has bad self esteem sometimes, especially writers. But is such an idea really what I want to internalize? That my writing is garbage? No. My writing may not be Terry Pratchett’s writing, or Neal Shusterman’s, or Phillipa Gregory’s, but you internalize what you tell yourself, even if you’re laughing while you say it. My writing is okay. Even if I don’t always feel like it’s good, it’s okay. I know it’s a common and #relatable thing to joke about, but I don’t want to anymore. I deserve kindness about my writing within my own brain. My writing and characters and worlds deserve kindness. I might not be phenomenal, not yet, but what I love is not garbage.
