terror attack

For those who may not be aware

There was a shooting that happened around 10/11 PM PST so most of us were asleep.

The shooting was on the Las Vegas Strip by Mandalay Bay at a Music Festival.

They recognized the shooter as a 64 year old man named Stephen Paddock.

Currently the death toll is at 50+ with more than 200+ Injured.

This is officially the worst mass shooting in American History.

If you’re using the terrorist attacks in London to try and push your political ideas or islamophobia, fuck right off.

No, we do not need guns in the UK. The availability of guns wouldn’t have helped the situation, but made it 100 times worse. Those terrorists attacked people with knives. Imagine the absolute fucking carnage if they’d been able to shoot.

No, the policy of ‘keep calm and carry on’ does not demonstrate our weakness. It’s the ultimate act of defiance against terrorism, which by it’s very definition attempts to disrupt our lives and make us too afraid to continue. I agree that action must be taken, but our refusal to submit to fear is one of the things I am proudest of about our country, and in all honesty, what else is there to do? Action is being taken against terrorism - MI5 stop dozens of terrorist plots each year. But if we can’t eradicate the cause of this hatred and violence, terrorism will never end. We can’t catch every terrorist. Someone will always slip through the cracks.

No, Muslims are not the problem. Muslims are not terrorists. Terrorists are extremists, whose actions have nothing to do with the faith that they falsely swear allegiance to, for Islam is a religion of peace, and Islamic extremism is nothing but a perversion of that. Having seen Trump’s tweet about his ‘Muslim ban’, I have never been more furious. That ban is not an anti terrorism measure, but a policy of racism and islamophobia, and I speak for the majority of Britain when I say that we want nothing to do with it.

Now is not the time to argue, to profess ignorant political ideas or to perpetuate racism. People have died. Have some fucking sympathy. Let us grieve.

Attack on parliament in London: what we know so far
With events unfolding rapidly at Westminster in and around the Houses of Parliament, here is what we know so far
By Esther Addley
  • A police officer has been stabbed and the alleged assailant shot by armed police following an incident inside the security cordon of the Houses of Parliament.
  • Photographs emerged of a number of casualties on Westminster Bridge, next to the parliament buildings, who had apparently been struck by a car.
  • Footage showed a car that had crashed into the perimeter railings of the parliamentary complex.
  • Other images, taken from inside the Palace of Westminster building, showed paramedics treating someone inside the Old Palace Yard, within the security cordon.
  • Scotland Yard said the attack in Westminster was being treated “as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise”.
  • The House of Commons has been put in lockdown, with many MPs confined to the Commons chamber after parliamentary business was suspended.

From Met Police - Avoid Parliament Sq, Whitehall, Westminster & Lambeth Bridge, Victoria St up to junction with Broadway & Victoria Embankment/tube

It has just been reported there is one confirmed fatality and several seriously injured from the incident on Westminster Bridge. My thoughts are with all those affected.

Everyone in London, please take care and stay safe.

I live in Stockholm and there’s been a suspected terror attack. A truck was hijacked and drove down our busiest shopping street, through crowds of people and into a department store.
People are dead.
People are injured.
There’s been a shooting at a different location.
The entire city is on lockdown. Commuter trains, subways and buses are off.
People are locked inside public buildings and their jobs.
Other places evacuated.
All the theaters and cinemas have closed.
The police are discouraging people from walking through specific central areas.
The streets are filled with people who are walking home.

I work at a preschool and we decided to take the children inside, the phones rang warm with parents who would be late, who couldn’t come and pick up their kids.

It doesn’t feel real, they got us too. It felt inevitable, and it was.

Fuck terrorists.

fellow londoners stay safe!!! there is an ongoing terrorist incident in westminster, which is in lockdown!!! thoughts with the police officer injured at houses of parliament and the members of the public involved in the car incident on westminster bridge. awful, awful news

UPDATE: police are working on the asumption that there was one attacker who drove the car into pedestrians at westminster bridge and then ran to the houses of parliament where he stabbed a police officer. he was shot, however the police officer sadly died from his injuries at the scene. two people were also killed at westminster bridge and dozens were injured, some severely. while there no longer appears to be an active threat, uk maintains the highest level of terror alert (as it has for months) and so please remain safe & vigilante if you are in the central london area tonight and in the coming days. please also spare a moment to think about the incredibly brave first respondents and emergency staff who put themselves at risk to protect the public. the police officer died protecting your elected representatives and the democratic institutions in this country. just let that sink in. massive shoutout also to NHS staff and those brave doctors and nurses from guy’s hospital who ran into danger at westminster bridge to help people. absolute heros the lot of them. so big up to everyone saving lives in london today. THANK YOU! 👏👏👏

You have blue hair. Someone else with blue hair commits a terrible atrocity. People are hurt and injured. You mourn with the people who have experienced a loss and you feel their pain and anger. Suddenly, people look at you differently. They assume that as you have blue hair you must be the same as the monster who hurt those people. People shout abuse at you, over and over again. Groups of people with blue hair all show their respect for the deceased, they help those in need, and are kind. However, the media continues to label you, people say you need to go back to where you came from, but you do not condone those who committed or support the attack. One is not all.

In light of the Manchester attack, I think it’s important we don’t fuel anything with hate. As a country we continue, we get up day after day and we carry on. Because that is what we do. We unite, against terrorism. Unity means all: Everyone. All religions, all nationalities, all ethnicity’s. They are part of our country and we unite with them too. It sounds stupid to compare something like religion with hair colour. But it isn’t. Yes, Islamic state is an extension of Islam. However, Islamic state is not Islam. It’s so important not to fight hate with hate. I can tell you over and over, but I don’t need to. You only need to see British Muslims uniting and providing support to see that.

What happened on Tuesday 22nd May 2017 was a hate fuelled attack on innocent people, but the only way we can say fuck you to terrorism is to show that hate will not be tolerated.

The view from the London Eye just hours before the awful events of yesterday, and this morning watching the news. We had a voucher so we went and once we got back on the tube it was all unfolding. I’ve never really been this close to it before and it is sad, and scary, but mostly we all have to keep being brave, stay together and know that one day terror attacks will be in the past. London friends, stay safe and look after each other. I love this city so much n hate to see it hurting

me: oh this anime looks cool maybe i’ll watch a couple episodes…

*binge watches the whole season in a day*

me: well then……time for season two!

Dear people who are blaming Islam for this attack

We know very little of this incident.  We won’t know until later.  It isn’t necessarily terrorism, and if it is then it is not necessarily of the religious variety.

And even when we do know, we shouldn’t lash out.  We shouldn’t commit to pathetic retaliatory attacks that only incite more recruitment.

And we shouldn’t close our boarders, we shouldn’t tar everyone with one brush.  There will always be murders and extremists, but guess what?  A society where a plurality of viewpoints can be discussed from a early age is a society with far less hate.  Shouldn’t we endeavor to create a society like that, not descend into tribalism?

Islam is nothing like the atrocities we’ve seen in recent years - just like Christianity is nothing like the atrocities of the crusades.

So please, please don’t jump into racist patriotism about this.  Please be at least somewhat calm and measured.

Live Updates: What We Know So Far About The Manchester Attack
Prime Minister Theresa May said the attack — carried out by a lone perpetrator — was an act of 'appalling and sickening cowardice' and deliberately targeted young children.
By BuzzFeed News
  • At least 22 people were killed in a suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.
  • Fifty-nine people were injured when a man detonated an improvised explosive device in the foyer of Manchester Arena at 10.30pm on Monday, just as Grande was finishing her set.
  • Three of the victims have been identified so far. The youngest was an eight-year-old girl.
  • ISIS has claimed one of its members carried out the attack.
  • Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the attack as an act of “appalling, sickening, cowardice”. May said that authorities believe they have identified the man but would not be naming him publicly at this stage. Security services are working to establish whether he acted alone or as part of a wider group.
  • Greater Manchester Police said they arrested a 23-year-old man in the south of the city in connection with the attack on Tuesday.
  • An emergency number – 0800 096 0095 – is available for those who are concerned about loved ones or anyone who may have been in the area. Families looking for missing relatives are posting on social media.
  • Hoaxes and fake news related to the attack have been circulating on social media. However, people in Manchester have responded to Monday’s events with acts of kindness.

Hey America, your President is being literal scum. Using the attack in London to further his own xenophobia policies is inexcusable. Political opportunism at its worst. That was his first tweet in response to the news. His first tweet. He didn’t offer his condolences, sympathies or support. He pushed his ban. We don’t have any details on the attack and yet here he is pushing his regressive ban.
