term limit

Everything Trump wants to do with his first 100 days in office:

From the office of Donald Trump:

What follows is my 100-day action plan to Make America Great Again. It is a contract between myself and the American voter — and begins with restoring honesty, accountability and change to Washington

Therefore, on the first day of my term of office, my administration will immediately pursue the following six measures to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, DC:

* FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress;

* SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health);

* THIRD, a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated;

* FOURTH, a 5 year-ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service;

* FIFTH, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government;

* SIXTH, a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.

On the same day, I will begin taking the following 7 actions to protect American workers:

* FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205

* SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership

* THIRD, I will direct my Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator

* FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately

* FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars’ worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal.

* SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward

* SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure

Additionally, on the first day, I will take the following five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law:

* FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama

* SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States

* THIRD, cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities

* FOURTH, begin removing the more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won’t take them back

* FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting.

Next, I will work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of my Administration:

  1. Middle Class Tax Relief And Simplification Act. An economic plan designed to grow the economy 4% per year and create at least 25 million new jobs through massive tax reduction and simplification, in combination with trade reform, regulatory relief, and lifting the restrictions on American energy. The largest tax reductions are for the middle class. A middle-class family with 2 children will get a 35% tax cut. The current number of brackets will be reduced from 7 to 3, and tax forms will likewise be greatly simplified. The business rate will be lowered from 35 to 15 percent, and the trillions of dollars of American corporate money overseas can now be brought back at a 10 percent rate.
  2. End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.
  3. American Energy & Infrastructure Act. Leverages public-private partnerships, and private investments through tax incentives, to spur $1 trillion in infrastructure investment over 10 years. It is revenue neutral.
  4. School Choice And Education Opportunity Act. Redirects education dollars to give parents the right to send their kid to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice. Ends common core, brings education supervision to local communities. It expands vocational and technical education, and make 2 and 4-year college more affordable.
  5. Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act. Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Reforms will also include cutting the red tape at the FDA: there are over 4,000 drugs awaiting approval, and we especially want to speed the approval of life-saving medications.
  6. Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act. Allows Americans to deduct childcare and elder care from their taxes, incentivizes employers to provide on-side childcare services, and creates tax-free Dependent Care Savings Accounts for both young and elderly dependents, with matching contributions for low-income families.
  7. End Illegal Immigration Act Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a 2-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a 5-year mandatory minimum for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.
  8. Restoring Community Safety Act. Reduces surging crime, drugs and violence by creating a Task Force On Violent Crime and increasing funding for programs that train and assist local police; increases resources for federal law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to dismantle criminal gangs and put violent offenders behind bars.
  9. Restoring National Security Act. Rebuilds our military by eliminating the defense sequester and expanding military investment; provides Veterans with the ability to receive public VA treatment or attend the private doctor of their choice; protects our vital infrastructure from cyber-attack; establishes new screening procedures for immigration to ensure those who are admitted to our country support our people and our values
  10. Clean up Corruption in Washington Act. Enacts new ethics reforms to Drain the Swamp and reduce the corrupting influence of special interests on our politics.

On November 8th, Americans will be voting for this 100-day plan to restore prosperity to our economy, security to our communities, and honesty to our government.

This is my pledge to you.

And if we follow these steps, we will once more have a government of, by and for the people.

Personally, if I were going to write a romantic fantasy setting, I’d do an end-run around the cognitive dissonance between “progressive politics!” and “yay monarchy!” by supposing that the nation in question underwent a semi-peaceful transition to elected leaders and simply retained the old titles and their associated pomp, converting them into elected positions.

So you’d still have barons and counts (and the occasional marquis for flavour), and they’d still have fancy robes and palatial estates and whatnot, but it’d all be based on popular elections - something like the Canadian parliamentary system, say: five year terms, no term limits, and a single national election covering all titled positions at the end of each term, with each individual domain’s subjects voting for their own local ruler.

The elected nobles would then form a national legislative body, and nominate a king or queen from among their own number. The monarch would wield supreme executive power, but have no particular legislative authority (save for their single vote by virtue of their elected rank, of course).

Dukes/duchesses and princes/princesses, meanwhile, would have no relation to parentage, but would be the titles given to the heads of various government ministries appointed by the monarch. The rules for whether any given ministry has a prince/princess or a duke/duchess at its head would be arcane and deeply rooted in historical precedent; they’d all have fancy pseudo-Latin monikers, of course, but in plain English it’d be totally possible to be appointed as, say, the Prince of Public Sanitation. (It’s more prestigious than you’d think!)

A noble who retired or was voted out (or dismissed by the monarch, in the case of princesses et al.) would retain the generic title of Lord or Lady So-and-so; the title would carry no particular authority, but a certain amount of social cachet. The spouses of current and former elected nobles would likewise be styled Lord or Lady, but their children would not be.

And finally, in keeping with romantic fantasy’s recurring theme of magical contrivances rendering implausible forms of government feasible, the votes for each national election would be collected and tallied by an armada of incorruptible enchanted woodland creatures, thus ensuring that no fraud or overt manipulation can ever take place.

It's time to switch to proportional representation districts.

First-past-the-post elections aren’t working for us, and I honestly question if it ever did.

Congressional House district need to be 1) redrawn to undo gerrymandering from both parties, 2) combined into larger, multi-seat districts, and 3) have those seats distributed proportionally by percentage of votes.

The Presidential system needs to be 1) either do away with the electoral college, or 2) award electoral votes proportionally by percentage of each state’s vote.

The two major parties are reliant on first-past-the-post, because it gives them the most power on every level of governance. It guarantees that this country will remain divided by a false dichotomy, and it’s much easier to divide and conquer that way.

me 99% of the time: i don’t really plan on getting married and i’m very happy with that decision and can be perfectly fulfilled on my own :)

me after seeing a cute couple in a happy relationship: *voice cracking, tears on my face* well that looks.. fuckin… stupid.. god …….. im so glad thats not me rn………..

Trump wants to set congressional term limits. Will Congress agree?

During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump made a promise to institute term limits for senators and members of the United States House of Representatives. Republicans have pushed for it in the past and it seems like now more than they can put the plan into action. But it will be a massive uphill battle.

Picked up the special issue of National Geographic’s Gender Revolution and I’m actually thoroughly pleased with how they covered it. There’s a huge spread of gender definitions close to the front after the contents, defining in clear print anything from agender, through genderqueer to transgender and cisgender. Further along is a brief analysis on the differences between Gender Identity, Biological Sex, and Gender Expression.

There’s a decent article in it called Colour Code describing “to the extent to which children and their parents knowingly or unknowingly are influenced by advertising and pop culture” and how that changes as kids grow up.

Another article called I Am Nine Years Old interviews a handful of kids from across the globe and their outlook on gender. The fact that kids (literally kids) are already aware and coming to terms with the limits their gender poses in their respective residence is pretty damn disheartening.

They touched on the lives of trans kids and adults and the risks of bullying, assault and suicide that can sometimes accompany that (as as trans man myself, it hit a bit close to home) as well as a brief summary on gender-neutral pronouns and how parents should embrace gender neutrality in their kids.

They cover a lot more, but I’m going to cut this short just save dash space. Overall I rate it as a great educational read. I know Tumblr was sort of blowing up about it when it previewed in December last year and I definitely recommend picking it up if you have the chance. I’m glad that National Geographic chose to cover gender and hopefully this brings a little bit more awareness to the expansive spectrum that gender identity has to offer.

Ever since Arrow started Oliver Queen has shown that his quiver has no limits in term of uniqueness, with arrows of all forms being shot. Here’s a full list of the specialty arrows he has just in case:

The OG Arrow- This arrow is the one that Oliver uses the most on his night escapades. Classic arrow that Oliver Queen created by hand from Season 1.

The I don’t give a shit about privacy Arrow- A common arrow that Oliver uses is an arrow not used for deadliness, but to record conversations. Notably used in ‘Honor Thy Father’.

The who needs speed to scale buildings Arrow- One arrow I believe Oliver uses out of spite because Barry Allen can run up buildings and he cannot, is the grappling hook arrow that Oliver uses to… basically be Spiderman at times while also guaranteeing him speedy (pun intended) arrival from rooftop to the ground in one piece. Used on a consistent basis.

The I don’t need Felicity Smoak because I’m petty Arrow- Yes. I’m aware Oliver used this arrow in the pilot but the joke is there. Anyway, Oliver uses this arrow to hack into Adam Hunts bank account in order to steal money from the corrupt short bald man. Used in the pilot.

The keep away from Star City’s drug dealers Arrow- Literally the most odd arrow Oliver has used is this one. An arrow that contains a syringe that injects people with what it contains. Most commonly found as a use in the Season 2 finale to avoid killing Slade’s men much to Nyssa’s dismay. (She still thinks killing the super soldiers would have been more fun.)

The DOESN’T JUST MAKE YOU DIZZY Arrow- A form of flashbang/stun arrow used to disorient victims. Malcolm Merlyn hates this arrow particularly as one exploded in his face. Then he blew up half the city. Jeez Malcolm.

The Firestorm Duo Arrows- A pair of arrows that almost represent Firestorm, Oliver has used both an incendiary arrow and a flame burst arrow.  While one is used in a non lethal format (burning through locks) the other is used to produce a distraction to snipers in the episode ‘Betrayal.’

The C4 Arrow- This arrow follows the basic premise of a pound of C4, Oliver shoots the Arrow and uses a remote detonator to detonate it in a fiery explosion. Used as a distraction and a method of breaking and entering.

The Night Night Motherfucker Arrow- This one is something that Oliver likes to use instead of risking damaging his bow by bouncing it off their skull. Similar to the syringe arrow, it injects its victims with a tranquilizer that knocks them unconscious. Quentin is still pissed off at Oliver for using this on him more than once.

The I Love Base Jumping Arrow- This one is just amazing. Oliver managed to make an arrow that HAS A GOD DAMN PARACHUTE BUILT INTO IT. Like…. dammit Cisco.

The Magic Shield Arrow- He shoots it and it spreads wide….latching onto corners, protects from bullets…. what tech… CISCO!!!!

And finally, The Rocky Balboa Arrow- Shown in the gif along with this post, Oliver has been known on occasion to go full DIY on his arrowset, removing an arrowhead and instead placing a boxing glove on the tip of his arrow. Non lethal. Not legal in a sanctioned boxing match.

Hope you enjoyed this list, next one will feature the arrows Oliver has but has YET TO USE.

Daisy just wouldn't talk about Reylo so openly if it was to be canon. Surely it would be considered a spoiler? So to me, Daisy talking about it and the Judi Dench question can only mean that it's a crack ship.

Daisy has brought it up a few times but never in terms of the future of the films. In the video with Judi Dench it was brought up alongside questions about Snoke and the titular Last Jedi - as far as I’m concerned, raising questions about these things isn’t spoiling anything. I’d even go so far as to say Daisy may well have the blessing of the Disney overseers to speak about it in limited terms, just for the sake of adding it to the conversation. They’d want it to be a surprise, of course, but they’d also want it to be a topic of intrigue and conversation.

💗 🌹 🥀 for liyiji!

🥀: What would they do when they fell in love with someone out of their reach?

Liyiji has anxiety, but not this particular form: he’s a navyblood, which is the purest strain of blue, and as far as he’s concerned, that means the only difference between him and seadwellers (a group in which he places indigoes) is a legal preference towards the gilled. There’s no social difference, and if there was, he’d win out. Similarly, he doesn’t really look at other people and perceive them to be better than him, basically.. ever. x)

With that said, if he fell in love with someone who already had the quadrant he was feeling, he’d be deeply upset at first, and then.. decide he’s gotta win them over. He wouldn’t bother with subtlety in the process, either, because until he got told by the person in question to back off, he’d view it as perfectly reasonable behaviour. Everyone always wants to move up, he likes them, and if their quadrant likes them so much, then they’d up their game, too.

🌹: What are weird things they start to do once they’ve developed a crush?

He blurts things out that he’d never say normally in bids to impress them, then get flustered that he said it, then decide he’s got to play it off by being cool and like he meant to say that, and then getting embarrassed and usually excusing himself from the room to lie under his bed with a pillow on his face, contemplating all the ways that interaction just humiliated him personally.

He is a very, very dramatic eighteen year old, for a dude that’s only comfortable showing one emotion per hour.

Other things: he’ll start messaging them first, which is a big deal for him, or doing basic social niceties that he explicitly does not bother with normally (how are you?). He’ll start dropping random facts about their interest into conversations, to show, oh, look, he’s interested in this because they’re interested, because he likes their life - and if he’s figured out if what quadrant he wants the crush in, Li will start flirting in his own, awkward way. “You should talk to someone about that. […] I guess I have an hour.” “What, is this a competition.” “Your relationship is fucked. But not unfixable.” “That’s cute.” ect!

💗: At which point do they realize that they’ve fallen in love?

Pretty quick! Liyiji’s got a good handle on his feelings, and he’s generally aware of the how / why of what he’s thinking and why - he notices very quickly when his thoughts towards someone shift from platonic to romantic, and he’s a fairly good gauge of if the feeling is long-lasting or serious enough for him to deem it more than a passing infatuation.

Li’s quick to recognise when he’s fallen for someone, he’s quick to act on it, and he’s fairly brisk about accepting that it’s strong enough feelings on his end to constitute as love. The fact he takes it so lightly probably has been a source of conflict in some of his relationships, though - Liyiji is perfectly comfortable saying that he loves people, platonically or otherwise, within the first two weeks of knowing them, and meaning it wholeheartedly.

one day, assuming we live through this and maintain, like, term limits and some vague semblance of democracy, those of you who are like 22 or younger right now will have to contend with a new generation of young people who mostly have no real memory of the trump administration and its sundry horrors, and it won’t be their fault, just like it’s not your fault for not knowing a lot about the bush administration, i mean why would you, i get it, but anyway, only then will you understand my suffering

For studies both exacting and exhausting, for practical advances that both protect and profit, I hereby commend you for your ability. Yours is a skill that many of my brethren are not ready to accept because, I suspect, some parts of them remain unready to accept their own. Tradition dictates the manner in which magic must be approached. It dictates, I dislike the term, I dislike limitations, and yet I am affected by far fewer than you are yourself.

Your people are one of the pillars that make the study of magic possible. They are vital but separate. You are not separate. I delight in your exploration, for it is with an eye I cannot comprehend. I feel as though this is how the majority who never wield the Fade must  at times view me. And just as they must be, I am sometimes unnerved by that which I cannot understand. But that is my failing, not yours.

These doors will never be closed to you, Arcanist.

There are no end to people who’ll line up to say no, but I don’t worry about them. As mad as some people get, it doesn’t mean they don’t like “me” me. It means new ideas make them uncomfortable. Everyone is like that sometimes. You just have to never give up and find the ones who are willing to help. Just like that last letter. Because I’ve also met some really smart forward thinkers, and they risked a lot by helping me.

Anyway, I’m willing to come as soon as the deal is inked by your Inquisitor. And I’m ready to invest, too. To help fix the sky or even just get a closer look. Actual “hole in your boot” physical rifts? In the Fade? Ancestors, maybe I can finally see what all the fuss has been about.
