ten essentials

ten essential products I live by!! otherwise known as my glow kit!!

1) The Body Shop Seaweed Clay Mask- this mask is my one and only!!! I use this once a week and it always deep cleans my skin to a perfect amount and doesn’t leave my skin feeling too dry!! (always follow up with moisturizer though!!)
2) Maybelline Clear Great Lash Mascara- I have been obsessed with clear mascara for about a year now for my lashes and brows!! I use it on my brows daily and it is a perfect prep for mascara, clump-free mascara every time!! might even be my favourite product out of all of them!
3) Revlon Matte Balm in Sultry- I don’t wear lip colour very often but when I do, it’s this one. I have multiple of the Revlon matte balms but this is my favourite colour, it’s a sort of dark mauve-y pink and I love it :-)
4) Bene-tint for Lips and Cheeks- !!! A must if you are a minimal makeup gal like me! gives a lil flush to those cheekies and lips! plus it smells like a fresh bouquet of roses…. so…
5) Celestial Moisturizer from Lush- I have been using this moisturizer for almost 3 years now and I don’t think I’ll ever turn back to a different night moisturizer!! my skin loves me because I treat it to this delicious moisturizer on the daily :-) I have acne prone, oily skin and this doesn’t over hydrate, make me break out, or ANYTHING!! it’s just an incredibly gentle and hydrating moisturizer :-) highly suggest
6) Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs- I LOV dis mainly because it’s a rollerball and those are just the handiest little friends. The scent is so light and yummy, just reminds me of good times so I think that is why I like it so much.
7) The Body Shop Vanilla Perfume Oil- heck!!!! I LOVE genuine vanilla scents. And this smells incredible and reacts incredibly well with my skin, as my neck heats up this creates a nutty vanilla smell and it’s so nice!! I love this so much, and it’s hecking discontinued so I am sad….
8) Covergirl Clump Crusher Extensions mascara- rarely ever wear mascara these days but when I do this mascara never lets me down :-) classic extra black mascara
9) Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm- I always have at least two of these on me at all times!! hydrating and smells so minty and yummy!! I love these so much.
10) The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil- great for spot treatment or even making your own toner by mixing a few drops of this with warm water!! This is my third bottle this year! I also love to do steam treatments with hot water, drops of this oil and a towel over my head!!

Okay. Because I love to share plant based goodness when I find it, I gotta tell you more about this. I’m trying to cut down on spending because I’m trying to save like mad for WWOOFing in Hawaii (ask me more if you want!), so my friend suggested I find meal replacement powder. I actually did find one that was vegan and didn’t break the bank. This was $20 for 10 servings, so $2 a meal. I tried it for breakfast and I’m actually pretty impressed. I’ve used things like muscle milk before (before I cut out dairy) and I hated it. This stuff is a little chalky, but definitely not too bad. Like I’ve said, I’ve had much worse. If you keep swirling it, it’s a-okay. The vanilla isn’t too overwhelming and I combined it with a tall glass of almond milk.

Plus it’s fun to read how many nutrients I’m getting in a single serving. ☺️✨ So yes friends, I’d definitely recommend this to anyone especially those who are plant based and don’t want to just eat beans and soya all the time for a lot of protein. This mixes it up and is pretty darn tasty.

Be careful of wolves in sheep’s clothing, Y/N.

Be careful of wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Be careful of wolves.

Be careful.

These words had not left my brain in the last three days. I hadn’t spoken to Ten since that night although I did occasionally catch glimpses of him and Johnny walking around the club. To my relief, neither of them even bothered to acknowledge my existence. I was still incredibly upset at the fact that Ten had essentially told me I had severe daddy issues which made me crave male attention. No wonder I’d never seen him or heard of him dating anyone; despite being insanely attractive, he wasn’t exactly a charmer.

I’m quite sick of hearing primarily healthy and ablebodied people singing and selling the alleged wonders of “all natural,” “pure,” “no chemical,” or holistic supplements, treatments, and vitamins as a cure for incurable diseases.  I don’t want to hear your anecdotes from a friend of a friend’s sister’s daughter.  I don’t want to hear how you, who have no serious illnesses, starting taking it and now feel “so much better” when your benchmark was essentially ten times better than mine.

If you claim your sloppy supplements have no chemicals, you have no understanding of chemistry.  If you claim your treatments are far safer or better for one’s health, or less dangerous and more “pure” than prescription medications, you don’t understand pharmacology.

I respect clinical trials and peer-reviewed studies.  Anecdotes about someone who was allegedly cured of MS, cancer, athlete’s foot, or AIDS (yeah, they’ll claim it cures AIDS; fuck off), and assertions that the reason we don’t know about these cures is because Big Pharma (ooh, I’m so scared; Big, Bad Pharma is watching me) doesn’t want us to know about them mean absolutely nothing.  You can’t prove it.  You can’t produce a study in which this happens.  Because these wastes of serious money aren’t tested in any scientific way.  They lure sick and desperate people into spending way too much money and putting their bodies in real jeopardy by slick salesmanship and lies.  And big profit.

The truth is, you don’t need vitamins or minerals unless you have an actual deficiency.  What you don’t need is pushed out by the kidneys into a puddle of pricey piss.  The truth is, the drugs Big Pharma sells are often way too  expensive, but they are tested and proven to work, and people who take them are happy to have side-effects like tremours or dry mouth if it is keeps them alive.  The truth is, doctors who prescribe them have way more expertise and knowledge than a naturopath, chiropractor, or scam artist at a health food store lecturing to healthy, wanna-be-hip white people.  The truth is, if someone cured an currently incurable disease, we would all freaking know about it, and Big Pharma would want people to know about it, so they could profit from it.

The truth is, none of these alleged panaceas have ever been proven to work, and all are marketed as dietary supplements because it is illegal to  market them as drugs.  It would also be a lie, since the FDA also respects only actual science.

As for approaching me:  I am an expert in my own diseases, my body, and my treatment. I am the chronic cripple here. Quit trying to sell your overpriced psuedo-medical miracles to me.

David Chang: Ten Essentials

The man behind the massively popular Momofuku restaurant empire tells us the 10 things he can’t do without, including the music he loves, his culinary uniform, and, for his lovelife’s sake, a California King Bed. (“My number-one priority this year is to buy one. I feel very strongly that, besides my own emotional ineptitude, the second reason for relationship trouble is bed space… so important. That’s my dream.”)

anonymous asked:

would rose let the doctor into the bathroom if she was in the tub?

Only under very special circumstances, if we’re talking before they get together properly.  For instance:

“Rose, do you have any idea how difficult it is to concentrate with you doing that?”

She glared at him. “You’re the one who interrupted me. You’re the one who came into my private bathroom whilst I was having a very private bath.”

“Yes, and you’re the one who cocked up the TARDIS’ plumbing,” he retorted, tongue poking out between his teeth as he fiddled with the pipes under the sink. “Besides, you said you didn’t mind me fixing it up while you’re still in there. If you remember, I did offer to leave and come back to sort it later…”

It was true, she thought, sighing in frustration. She had made the executive decision to stay very much in the bath whilst he sorted out the plumbing problem. And, fine, so she’d thought that having a perfect view of his pinstriped bum whilst he was on his hands and knees a few feet away from her would be a lovely way to pass the time.

She just hadn’t anticipated him taking so long about it.

“That was half hour ago,” she huffed.

I just read someone else’s rage on fb, about how a roommate is moving into the garage so they can Airbnb a room to make extra money bc they’re all in the service industry and uber has decimated one roommates income as a cab driver and how awful clients at the coffee shop another one works at is and how they don’t see futures for themselves in this city–and I agree! This city doesn’t want us. This state doesn’t want poor people. After listening to the committee on Labour’s reaction to the report on poverty and low income families use of welfare and their like, TOTAL INDIFFERENCE to the clear fact that low income families ARE NOT GETTING BY, and 57% of school children are so poor their families can’t feed them lunch, essentially, and ten the Oregon legislature refused to pass the mandatory inclusionary income zoning?

It’s a war on poverty and not the kind meant to eradicate poverty but the kind meant to eradicate poor people.

It’s a war being conducted on every level, from sex workers to low income families NOT yet working in the sex industry to young people struggling to survive and like.

What do they expect will happen? How do they think this will end?
