To your 'biphobia isn't a thing' response: there are people who believe that bisexuality doesn't exist, that they're just greedy, slutty pieces of shit. If that's not biphobia I don't know what is, but there is an example for you. And some of said people support/are gay/lesbian [people]. Tell me again that biphobia doesn't exist?
How is biphobia not a thing though? In high school my best friend at the time literally told me she’d be fine if I say either gay or straight, but liking both genders is wrong and disgusting.
These are two different anons but I’m answering both of you in the same ask. I won’t be taking any more questions on this topic unless they are redirected to @lesbian-ed-discourse.
Tell me one single law that is against bisexual people specifically. Tell me one slur used for bisexual people specifically. I doubt you can come up with any. All the laws and all the prejudice against bisexual people comes from their same sex-attraction.
“Slut” is a slur used for women specifically, not for bisexual people or even homosexual people. Therefore, prejudice expressed by using that word is just misogyny. I doubt male bisexual people get that word thrown in their faces even close to as often as female bisexual people. I would guess that male bisexuals mostly get homophobic slurs thrown at them.
Just because there are a few people who cannot understand the fact that some people like both dick and pussy, it doesn’t make that discrimination systemic., i.e. there’s no systems in place that discriminate against bisexual people specifically. The laws that discriminate bisexual people on the basis of their sexual orientation, homosexual people suffer from too and even more so since they will never be able to happily have the advantage of dating someone of the other sex.
Additionally, just because a few individuals are “against” bisexuality, it doesn’t make it into systemic oppression. Like I mentioned, there are no systems in place that discriminate and oppress bisexuals on the basis of bisexuality. Bisexual people have the same rights as homosexual people when it comes to same sex partnership (i.e. in some parts of the world none at all, and in others almost equal to other sex-relationships), except that bisexual people also have their other sex-attraction being the norm of society.
