tegan you need to stop it

Zimbits Battle of the Blades AU

so. well. Y’all remember this post? About a Canadian TV show that makes hockey players learn how to do pairs routines with figure skaters? It’s Jack and Bitty now. Leggo.

  • It’s a year or two after Bitty graduates from Samwell. He won the Frozen Four in his Senior Year, and Jack has a Calder trophy and Stanley Cup win under his belt. They are both publicly out, but they’ve kept their status as a couple lowkey for now.
  • The execs in charge of Battle of the Blades decide they need a new gimmick to increase ratings. Enter: Queers!!! On Ice!
  • They want one F/F and one M/M pair of skaters, in addition to the regular straight couples. It’s easy enough to find female skaters willing to pretend to have a gal pal, and the NWHL has several out queer players, and yet…
  • The producers can literally find no male hockey players or figure skaters who are a) available, b) notable public figures, and c) willing to spend months within inches of another man at all times, except for Jack and Bitty. Fuck it, the producers decide, and make some calls.
  • Cue the Intense Relationship Discussion.
  • Bitty would love to figure skate again, and Jack thinks the cross-conditioning sounds like a good idea, but both of them have reservations about the public scrutiny this will put their relationship under.
  • Enter George with a life-saving idea: what if they announced their relationship via the show? They’d have to pretend to just be good friends early on, but then Jack could gradually dial up the heart eyes and Bitty could stop self-censoring, and by the end of the show they would have “started dating.”
  • The two of them agree to George’s proposal and filming starts.
  • All the hockey players are sent out on the rink in hockey skates first, and Bitty pulls off a flawless double axel the second he gets on the ice. “Dear me, I must have forgotten which skates I’m wearing!”
  • Jack Zimmermann, hockey god, falls flat on his face the second he puts on figure skates. He and Bitty unintentionally recreate the “Toepick!” scene from The Cutting Edge at least twice.
  • Lift training is a total wash. Half of it is unintentional flirting- “Yes, Mr Zimmermann, your hand is supposed to go on my butt.” “I see you’ve been keeping up with your squats, Bittle.”- and the other half is Jack screwing up and Bitty nearly dying, as per canon.
  • The judges are always commenting on what great chemistry the two of them have, probably because they were linemates back in the day, right? “Well,” says Jack, “we’re a team.”
  • Dear lord the interview segments are ridiculous.
  • Half the time, Bitty’s explaining some bullshit heteronormative requirement of pairs skating, and the other half he’s slowly but surely unloading Jack Feels™ onto the audience.
    • “Rule number one, never fall for a teammate.”
  • Meanwhile, Jack isn’t even bothering to hide his crush on Bitty/Bittle/my partner/Eric- what he calls him depends on how adoring he is at the moment.
    • “Jaw-dropping. Awe-inspiring, the best thing that’s ever happened to me… wait, this was supposed to be about the Stanley Cup win, not being on Bittle’s line? Yeah, that was nice too.”
  • Around Week 4, the entire nation of Canada needs to know- are they partners, or are they partners?
  • Every. Single. Song. fits the dramatic arc of their “new relationship.” Canadian hits? “Stop Desire,” Tegan and Sara. 80s week? “How Will I Know,” Whitney Houston. Hollywood? “I’ll Cover You,” RENT.
  • They get to the finale on the combined strength of Jack’s cheekbones and Bitty’s media savvy. Ransom sends them updates on his family’s latest adoring comments.
  • Of fucking course their last skate is to “Halo.” What is this, amateur hour?
  • Of fucking course they win. What is this, Yuri On Ice?
    • Yes this headcanon was 37% inspired by the fucking Episode 12 pair skate but that’s a whole other kettle of fish
  • When Jack hears they’ve won, in the “heat of the moment,” (read: in a carefully choreographed move endorsed by George months ago) he sweeps Bitty into a show-stopper of a kiss.
  • The nation of Canada gets a little weak at the knees.
  • “So, yeah!” Bitty announces in his last interview segment, post-win. “Me and Jack are dating!”
  • This is getting super long but then they’re a public couple and they donate the money they won to You Can Play and the SMH Squad hosts viewing parties for every episode, thank you for your time.
take this passion, turn it into action

pairing: marcus flint x oliver wood
word count: 1691
a/n: dedicating this one to @lilyevians - I just wanted to bring a little cheer into your world right now because I got the sense that you might need it. I sent that anon ask yesterday and rolled with the flintwood+fake dating trope because I can’t stop/won’t stop. <3 (title from Stop Desire by Tegan and Sara)

“I still don’t know why I’m helping you with this,” Oliver mumbled, straightening out his tie and glancing at Marcus in the mirror reflection above his shoulder.

Marcus groaned and shook his head. “Didn’t think you could get more thick. I told you. Adrian and Terry have been making fun of me for fucking ever for not having a date, and what better way than to fuck with them then showing up at Cassius’s wedding reception with you?”

Oliver sighed, but he agreed. It had all been a coincidence anyways, the two of them running into each other. Or at least, a product of themselves, the fact that they had been signed to competing teams. Now that the war was over and the International Federation was holding events again, it was only a matter of time before they would have run into one another. What was so strange about it was that they had spoken that first event, Marcus had reached out his hand for a truce. And things were still shaky, might always be shaky between the two of them, but over the part couple months Oliver had started to consider Marcus a friend, or at least something approaching a friend.

Which is why when Marcus had bumped into him in Diagon, and gotten a very Slytherin twinkle in his eye, Oliver had agreed to his plan. Without thinking through the fact that now he had to follow through with it, and pretend to be Marcus’s date for an entire evening. Just to fuck with his friends.

Oliver did not want to think about the fact that there might have been a chance he would have said yes if Marcus had asked for a real date. But that was a bridge that he figured they would never come to. From the sounds of it, Marcus was more-or-less straight, which is why everyone would have been so shocked (specifically Adrian, who Marcus was hoping would see that he could be free to date men and finally ask out his long time crush Terence.) Which complicated things, because he was pretty sure Marcus thought he was straight too.

“Here,” Marcus mumbled, and spun Oliver around. “You’re just fucking it up.” Oliver noted, as Marcus untied his bowtie and fixed it up, that even though the other man had large hands and thick fingers, he was surprisingly dexterous.

Oliver swallowed. “Thanks,” he mumbled, and Marcus flashed him a smile - a real smile - and Oliver tried not to melt.

It would be so much easier to hate him again.

Marcus was right.

The wedding itself had been a private affair, family members only. Marcus and Oliver then, luckily, only needed to attend the reception. They arrived at the party hand in hand, and as soon as they stepped in the room the entire crowd stopped talking. Jaws dropped and Oliver heard more than one muttered “holy shit is that Oliver Wood?” as they made their way through the crowd, Marcus in the lead. Marcus’s hand was sweaty, just a bit, and Oliver decided it was because he probably didn’t want to be holding onto Oliver at all.

Even though when they reached the table with Marcus’s friends, he didn’t let go.

“Adrian, Terry,” Marcus greeted, finally letting go of Oliver’s hand to pull a chair out for him. “I’m sure you remember Oliver Wood?”

Oliver grinned weakly and reached across the table to shake the offered up hands.

“I thought you were joking!” Terry pressed, in a stage whisper that was barely any quieter than normal speech. “You said you were bringing Wood and I thought you were pulling our legs!”

Marcus flashed another grin, a devious one and his eyes twinkled in the same way Oliver remembered from their run in. “Would I lie to you?” He asked, as he dropped into his seat.

Adrian laughed. “Literally every day.”

The meal went over smoothly, for the most part. Oliver didn’t say much, but when the table finally switched into conversation about Quidditch he was happy to participate. Adrian was a Ballycastle fan, which Marcus took well, his chest puffing up in pride. Terry, on the other hand, mentioned that he thought Puddlemere actually had a shot this year, and Oliver found himself lost in conversation with the Slytherin.

He was pulled out of it when Marcus took his hand again. “Let’s dance.” Marcus pressed. Oliver frowned - they hadn’t discussed dancing, but he couldn’t very well say no now, could he?

Nodding once to Terry in a ‘thank you for saving me from everyone here’ gesture, he followed Marcus onto the floor.

As they arrived, the song switched, tempo slowing down, couples moving closer together. Oliver glanced at Marcus but the man looked fine, unfazed by this change of events. Taking a breath to steel himself, Oliver stepped closer to Marcus and placed his free hand on the other mans hip, letting Marcus do the same.

They fell into the rhythm easily, bodies only inches apart. Oliver could feel the heat radiating off of Marcus, could smell tobacco and leather polish and broom oil. Could tell, from this close, that Marcus had freckles on his nose and a scar under his left eyebrow. The proximity was heady and when the song ended Oliver tried to step back, catch some fresh air.

Marcus tightened his grip. “Don’t leave me now, Wood.” He mumbled, and Oliver’s stomach clenched and turned but he nodded. He had agreed to this. He just needed to make it through another few hours and then he could go home and actually start to consider this new information about Marcus, could close his eyes and pretend things were different.

Three songs later, finally, Oliver managed to twist out of Marcus’s grip. “Need the bathroom,” he breathed out, and turned on a heel to leave the hall. It was only once he pushed open the doors, inhaled fresh cool air and leant back into a small alcove that he realized he was in big trouble.

Oliver closed his eyes and rested his head on the brick behind him, but when he inhaled again he realized the air was no longer fresh and clean. Marcus’s unique smell was back nearly full force, and he swallowed hard before opening his eyes. Marcus was standing less than a foot away from him, eyes looking almost worried as he scanned Oliver’s face. He was blocking the only way out of the small space, but Oliver realized he didn’t feel too claustrophobic - in fact, he wanted there to be even less space.

“Alright, Wood?” He asked, his voice gruff in a way Oliver wasn’t used to.

Oliver managed to nod as their eyes connected. “Yeah. Just. Needed fresh air.”

Marcus nodded and stepped closer, pressing a hand into the stone wall that Oliver was leaning against. He was just about to say something, lips three inches away from Oliver’s, his exhale ghosting across Oliver’s face. And then the door opened again and Adrian and Terry stumbled out, and Marcus’s eyes went wide and they both froze in place.

“Look, you didn’t see the look on Wood’s face,” Adrian was saying to Terry. Oliver frowned at Marcus and he pulled a face. “I don’t know what he did but he’s managed to con Wood into coming, they’re not dating. He’s just doing it to fuck with us, which is exactly what I said was going to happen. Merlin he’s such an asshole-”

Terence was much quieter, and Marcus glanced back and then turned back to Oliver. “Sorry,” he said, though he didn’t sound sorry at all, and then he crashed their lips together. Oliver’s small noise of protest was muffled by Marcus’s lips, and when it was clear the other wasn’t pulling back he lifted his hands up, sliding one around to hold the back of Marcus’s neck and lifting the other up to fist in his shirt.

“Terry,” Adrian stage-whispered, and then made a small strangled sound. “Fuck,” he added, and Oliver listened as the footsteps padded away. “Fuck there are totally snogging, I don’t know how he-“ Adrian’s voice faded off and the kiss lingered another minute before Marcus finally pulled back.

“What was that for?” Oliver tried to sound angry, he really did, but he knew there was no malice in his voice anymore. Knew he couldn’t be angry because even when Marcus laughed and said it was a joke and disappeared, he’d be thinking about that kiss.

Marcus shrugged, and suddenly looked uncomfortable in his own skin, shuffling from one foot to the other and ducking his head down. “Dunno.” He admitted, glancing back over his shoulder to make sure the hallway was clear. “Wanted to do that. Figured I wouldn’t get another chance.”

“Are they still out there?” Oliver whispered, low as he could. Why else would Marcus be saying that he wanted to kiss him? (What was he missing?)

Marcus looked back up, met Oliver’s eyes with his own. “No.” He said, clearly. Sure of himself despite the flush creeping up his neck. “I know we’re not really… that you just agreed to this as a favour, or - actually I have no idea why you agreed to this. But I didn’t think I’d get another chance, so.”

Oliver swallowed, hard, and then lifted his hands up to cup Marcus’s face. He decided to take a leap, and hope he didn’t fall. “As far as first dates go, I’d give this a four out of ten, I think. You better aim for a seven on the next one.”

Marcus gaped at him, blinked, shook his head. “What?” He tried to clarify, voice still gruff and low and now laced with confusion.

“You wanted to kiss me. I want you to continue kissing me. Sounds to me like that’s grounds for a second date?”

A large grin broke out over Marcus’s face, and suddenly Oliver found himself being crowded back into the wall again, Marcus’s hands on his hips and his body warm against Oliver’s chest. “Who says I need to wait for a second date?”

Confession: I don't know whether I have an ed or I am just a big baby acting as if my disordered eating is bad enough to be classified as an ed. Most days I just try to remind myself that I have to be grateful that I don't have an ed and I should stop acting like I want to have one.

If your behaviours are causing you distress, whether it is a full blown eating disorder or not, you still need to seek help.

What can I do when everyone's telling me that I should lose weight while I'm recovering... Can I tell them how much does it hurts to hear that? Or should I lose weight so they can stop saying that?

No, you definitely shouldn’t lose weight. You absolutely can tell them that it hurts to hear it. Putting yourself first is a very important thing to learn to do in recovery for a lot of people. It’s OKAY to take care of yourself and your needs, even if it means telling someone off for doing or saying something that’s not helpful to your recovery.

Here’s info on telling others about your ED, and it could also pertain to telling people what you need in your recovery (x).

Favorite quality about Tegan?

Ooh don’t even get me started! I’m gonna have to change your ask to qualities, because there isn’t just one I can pick out.

1. Her protectiveness and love for Sara. This is honestly one thing that I admire the most in Tegan. After watching their mini series, Reflections (both the original one and USA), I just saw how she does her best to keep Sara’s morals up. You can tell from their interactions that Tegan was doing her best to stick with her sister during the break up period with Emy, and her ability to keep Sara smiling is always so cute to see. I can only imagine her constantly checking up on Sara to the point of annoyance. She’s so caring and watchful over Sara, and I can’t even begin to fathom how much it must’ve hurt her when Sara moved to Montreal during their early adulthood. She’s also stated so many times before that she’d punch/fight someone defending Sara, and she has done so in the past. You can just see in her eyes the amount of love that she has for Sara. She’s got that warm sparkle, and even in her movements and small gestures, you can see her affection so easily. She’s not ashamed to show her love, and I think I admire that the most about her. She’s fiercely protective and affectionate, but I’m sure she’s a softie on the inside :P

2. Her advocation for Human Rights. This goes for both twins actually. They both take their time to show each other how much the want equality for everyone. They have both taken vows to not marry until each state is legally allowed to do so. It’s also how they don’t tolerate any kind of misbehaviour or malicious attacks upon their fans or people in general. They’re so supportive and strong-willed, which is so rare to see genuinely in many celebrities today. You know both Tegan and Sara are genuine because they’ve been doing this long before they were famous.

3. Her fan awareness/stage conduct. There are a few videos in which fans pass out/get into fights, and Tegan catches them before they can become something uncontrollable. There’s only one time that I know of that she had her eyes closed and a fan jumped on stage. There’s another show in which a fan passed out and Tegan stopped the band (who didn’t notice) and actually called security over to help her out, and then proceeded to give her a set list and her water, I think? There was also that one show in which a woman was flipping them the bird, and Sara was getting pissed off and agitated and Tegan was playing the peace-keeper.

4. Her raw vocals. When Tegan Rain Quin has a broken heart, you hear it. This is what I love about her. Music is a language that transcends through to your emotions, and when she’s emotionally compromised, you feel her pain through her voice. She can be soft (this hurts more because you hear her vulnerability and it’s earthshaking) and she can be screaming (which is equally heart wrenching because of the cracking notes and strain in her voice). Granted, it may throw off her pitch and key, but it’s raw, and that’s what so beautiful about it. Her most amazing moments are when she sang “Soil, Soil”, “The Ocean”, “Dark Come Soon”,“The Con”, and “Nineteen” live.

5. Her beautiful, gummy smile and completely adorable dorky personality. If you ever need cheering up, Tegan is your person to go to. Just look up some of her random funny banters, and you’ll see why. Her smile is heart warming and infectious. You just want to smile when you see her. It’s been kinda tough because these last few months it had been missing, but it’s now slowly making it’s way back, which must only mean that she’s happy again. Not saying that she wasn’t before, but she just didn’t seem like the usual Tegan that we know and love.

Bonus: her muscles. I don’t even need to explain this one. Tegan is fit.

Thanks for the ask! :) Sorry it got so long, haha. Tegan and Sara, or anything related to them, make me very emotional and I can never stop talking about them once you get me going, lol :P

I honestly don’t even think that tegan and sara were lip syncing at the women’s world cup, I think they were using a really loud backing track. If you listen closely to the verses, you can definitely hear Sara singing live. But even if they were lip syncing, it shouldn’t really matter. That’s not something they normally do, they always sing live in any other situation. Plus live televised events like that don’t usually allow musicians to perform 100% live, there is almost always a backing track or lip syncing involved whether you’re watching the world cup, the superbowl, etc. People just need to calm down and stop being so critical.

so I saw more Moffat era hate on my dash (oh goodie) specifically that the companions ‘are not relate-able’.

Rose Tyler is called the most relate-able companion of the New Era. She was smart and kind with a bit of a nutty family (who doesn’t have a nutty family?), working a job she didn’t really enjoy. She later ended up working at an organization to save the world.

Martha Jones had a huge and very nutty family that she was typically constantly trying to fix the arguments of. She was smart and clever, and was working on her way to become a doctor. She later joined UNIT and even maybe Torchwood.

Donna Noble was a woman who didn’t believe in herself nearly enough as she should because of all the times she was told she was stupid. She wasn’t afraid of saying what she thought, and was the best temp in Chiswick. She later lost her memory, but she gained confidence and ended up being happily married.

Amy Pond went from a girl who believed in something no one else did, and grew up having everyone tell her she was crazy, who had a family who didn’t seem to care all that much about her. After a few jobs, she ended up a writer, opened her own publishing company and became a beloved authoress.

Rory Williams went from the boy who waited for the girl of his dreams, the dorky and awkward nurse who was almost always left in the shadow of other men, but grew out of that shadow, ended up with the girl of his dreams and the job of his dreams: a nurse, therefore helping others.

Clara Oswald grew up with two loving parents, lost her mother when she was sixteen, graduated College and wanted to go travelling, but stayed because a family friend needed her help. She became a nanny, and later a teacher.

All the companions are relate-able somehow, maybe not to you, but to others.

Rose absorbed the Time Vortex to save the Doctor and Jack, Martha walked the Earth, Donna became a half-time lord and helped stop Davros, Amy  brought the Doctor and Rory and her family back into existence through memory, Rory waited two thousand years for the love of his life, and Clara sacrificed herself to save the Doctor.

Let's Go Caroling!

Susan just wants to sing a song with her grandfather, and maybe a few friends.

“Come on, Grandfather!” said Susan as she pulled the Doctor into the console room.

“Goodness, child! What’s all this excitement for?”

“We’re going to sing a song.”

“Oh, you know I don’t sing, Susan.”

“It’s a Christmas carol.”

“No, no…”

“Please, Grandfather?” she begged, looking at him imploringly.

He looked at her smiling face and knew he’d lost the battle. Sighing, he booped her nose and said, “Oh, all right. How shall we start, then?”

Pleased with his reply, she began the song.

“On the first day of Christmas, my Doctor gave to me…adventures in time and space!”

The ship was silent and empty, save for the two of them and the hum of the console. “Hmmph! Not very spirited, eh? Needs some music. And who’s going to do the next verse, hmm?”

Everything Has Changed

Chapter Two (Savannah)

“Get up.” I heard Tegan’s voice as she opened the curtains in my room and all I could think about was how I didn’t want to get out of bed. After the night I had, I never wanted to leave my house.

After I had gotten home last night and was able to put together a sentence, I called Tegan and explained everything that happened. She hated that I cared for Jack because she knew he would never treat me the way I deserved but I couldn’t help it. He’s the one I want.

The sun shined through the window as Tegan walked around my room, picking out clothes. I looked over at her and admired that my best friend was there. Her long dirty blonde hair went just past her chest, her skin was like porcelain and her eyes were the perfect shade of blue.

“So…are you going to get up?” Tegan asked as she sat on the chair in the corner of my room. “We don’t have all day.”

“And why not?” I asked confused. There was no way in hell I was going anywhere today. Not after last night. “You know what Tegs, I don’t care.” I said, getting up from my bed. “I’m not doing anything today.”

“Like hell.” She said, getting up. Tegan has always been the girl to push her feelings aside and act as if she wasn’t bothered. She tried so hard to get me to act the same way but it never worked. I’ve never been a good liar. “Stop letting Jack ruin your life. He is not worth it and you don’t need him.” I wanted to believe her. I wanted to be able to look him in the eyes and not hurt. I wanted to be able to say I hate you too. But I couldn’t.

“I may not need him, Tegs…but I want him.” It’s true. I know I can survive without Jack in my life. I don’t depend on him that much. But when I thought about my future, Jack has always been in it. I mean; we made plans. We were going to buy two houses side by side and our kids were going to be just as good of friends as we were. At least, that was the plan before I fell for him.

“Get dressed.” Tegan said before she left my room. I rolled my eyes at the fact that she didn’t listen to a word I just said…not that she ever does. I headed to the bathroom to take a shower, got dressed and did my hair and makeup. “There’s the Savannah I know and love.” Tegan said, as I walked into the kitchen.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror and couldn’t help but check myself out. My brown hair went just to my waist, I hadn’t grown much since the last time I was home and was still struggling to reach 5 and a half feet and my brown eyes had turned from a light chocolate to a dark chocolate. I’d have to admit, I’ve definitely changed my style since being in New York which is understandable. I mean, you can’t work at a fashion magazine without actually being a little bit fashionable.

“So what do you know about Jack’s girlfriend…or ex-girlfriend?” I asked Tegan as I grabbed a plate of pancakes. This was definitely a common occurrence in my house. Tegan would come over, wake me up and cook me breakfast.

“I know that they’ll probably be back together today. It’s a regular thing for them.” Jack has never been one to have a relationship so to hear that his current relationship was an on/off again relationship, that definitely took me by surprise.

“Is she pretty?” I couldn’t help but want to know more about her. I mean, I needed to know what the girl that finally got Jack to settle down was like.

“Who cares? Listen,” Tegan said, not answering my question. Typical Tegs. “Jack Johnson, Sam Wilkinson and Nate Maloley. Holy crap, Savannah; I’m not exaggerating in the slightest. They’re hot.”

I laughed at how into this conversation Tegan was. She has always been boy crazy but she just prefers to hook up with them rather than be in a relationship with them. I think she’s just scared. Her dad left her mom when she was just a little kid and she saw what it did to her mom. There’s no way she’s going to put herself through that.

“I say, you hook up with one of them.” I looked at Tegan with a look of disbelief but she was serious. Excuse me?

A/N: Who do you think Savannah’s going to hook up with? Johnson, Sam or Nate? Leave guesses in my ask! Hope you enjoyed chapter two! Start reading from here: (x)
