The Extensive & Mass TMNT Universe: So Many Versions to Choose From
One of the many reasons why I love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is because this series has been going on for such a long time that people have so many different versions to choose from to suit their personal tastes.
If you don’t like 1 version of the turtles, you have SEVERAL to choose from and if you’re a die hard fan who wants to know more about these characters on a personal level, you have so much material to explore.
There will ALWAYS be new versions and interpretations for these characters and all it does is add to the already large universe it’s built since it’s creation.
So this is one of the reasons why I learned how to accept the new versions because all this is doing is extending and growing the TMNT universe.
With so many versions to choose from, you’re bound to find one that suits you perfectly. So explore your options and find your perfect match.
I just saw TMNT at the movies and have fallen in love with the brothers and I want to get more into it because the fandom seems so nice and I love Raph so much, so where do I start? What do I watch first? x
That’s so great! Welcome to the fandom!
Gosh, I don’t know where you could start, seriously, there’s so much to this franchise, there are 4 tv shows, 5 movies, a lot of comics, so you have a lotta choices here xD
If you wanna start by watching the newest show, Teenage mutant ninja turtles 2012, you can watch it here and go crazy with the rest of the fandom whenever new episodes come out.
There’s also the 2003 show, wich is totally awesome and it got me into the franchise in the first place, you can watch it here. But there are a lot more epsiodes to watch than in 2012, after all, it’s 7 seasons.
There’s also the very first TMNT tv show, wich is a little more appropriate for children, it’s funny and cute, different from 2003 and 2012 shows, they’re a little darker and edgier. You can watch the 1987 show here.
Also, there’s the live action show called Ninja turtles: The next mutation, wich came out in 1997, now, I haven’t watched it myself but I hear it’s enjoyable. You can give it a shot here
There’s also an anime series! It only includes 2 episodes.
Also, here’sTMNT 2007 movie, it’s an animated movie and I absolutly adore it! I think i know this movie by heart.
And there’s Teenage mutant ninja turtles 2014, that got you to love the turtles, I think it’s done pretty well, i loved this movie too, especiallly the turtles in it.
There are also a lotta different comics, there’s Mirage, IDW, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, dreamwave.
I don’t think I’m helping you here, I’m only making the choice harder for you lol. I don’t know about you but I like starting with the newest things. I’d start watching the 2012 series to catch up with the rest of the fandom. 2012 series are absolutly amazing right now! Then, I’d go to 2003, or 1987 especially on hiatuses wich we get a lot! Or you can start watching the 2003 show and when you’re finished and you didn’t get enough of the turtles, there’s so much more. Or, you can start with the movies, all of them are great. But look, you don’t have to watch and read everything that has to do with the turtles, you are already a part of the fandom, it doesn’t matter if you watched all of the movies or all of the series. All the generations of the turtles are so different and also so similar, it’s still the same characters, the same turtles we love. So you’ll still get to see your favourite brothers in action no matter what tv show or movie you choose to watch first. They’re all amazing because the turtles are amazing :)
Good luck! Let me know what you choose to watch first and wether you like it or not.
Just a reminder that you can make all the shitty Shrek jokes you want, the turtles never looked worse than in TMNT III. The third live-action movie was the most colossal piece of shit produced in TMNT media. Shit, the Next Mutation suits looked better. Honorable mention to the suits from “Coming Out of Their Shells” and that ridiculous Christmas Special that nobody remembers.
