Request: 20, 59, and 743?
A/N: So you didn’t include who you wanted the request with so i just did Dick Grayson since i haven’t written for him in a while, i hope you don’t mind!
It had been a little over two years since the world lost Kid Flash, the team losing Wally West in the process. Everyone had taken his sacrifice hard but everyone knew the person who had it the hardest would be you, his partner. Wally was the love of your life, the person who you were planning on spending the rest of your life with but that changed June 20th, the date of his disappearance.
Taking his supposed death poorly, Wally’s best friend, Dick Grayson offered you to move in with him. The two of you had spent months grieving, helping one another cope with the loss of someone who meant so much to the both of you. But as time went on, the hole that formed in your heart was slowly filled with the love that Dick provided you, there were times you couldn’t help but be consumed with guilt, Wally was supposed to be your soul mate but here you were finding comfort in his best friend.
Dick’s voice is what breaks you out of your thoughts, “Could you be happy here with me?” He mutters, his fingers tracing messily written words on the skin of your chest. The question catches you off guard, you spend a moment thinking about how happy he makes you. You nod, fingers tangled in his dark locks, “I am happy with you. So happy.” You whisper back, voice soft. At that, Dick can’t help but grin, he’s filled with comfort knowing that, he now could never picture having a happy life without you in it.
“Everything has been different since I fell in love with you.” You acknowledge, Dick raises an eyebrow, silently prompting you to continue. "I mean, after… Wally, I appreciate the little things. I never used to but now, I can’t help but notice the little things you do and I love you for them.” Your voice wavers, Dick is quiet, his fast-paced breath the only thing telling you that he was in fact awake.
“In Wally’s death, I learnt a lot. I realised I shouldn’t take life for granted, and-” He’s cut off, your voice interrupting him. “He’s missing, not dead.” Dick sits up, the blanket that once covered you both falling from his shoulders. “Y/N…” It’s you sitting up now, pulling yourself away from Dick’s touch. “Don’t ‘Y/N’ me, Dick. It’s true.” You see the pity in his eyes, as he brings a hand to rest on yours.
He nods, “Okay, alright.” He mumbles, agreeing. “I love you, (Y/N).” You stumble over your words, Dick pulls you into his embrace. “I love you, too.” You let out a shaky breath into his chest, his hands rubbing soothing circles on your back. “I’m sorry, babe.” He whispers into your hair, his voice soothes you. The two of you stay in that position, listening to one another breathe, Wally in your thoughts.
