However, an earlier track on the album Paradise Valley where the song “Paper Doll” is featured is called “Wildfire” and its opening lyrics are:
River’s strong you can’t swim inside it We could string some lights up the hill beside it Tonight the moon’s so bright You could drive with your headlights out ‘Cause a little bit of summer’s what the whole year’s all about
Given the widespread rumours that “Paper Doll” was about Taylor, the lyrics “You’re like 22 girls in one” being seen as a nod to her anthem “22″, and given that there was a back and forth sing off to each other as it were, does it not seem likely that Taylor Swift would have added a song on her 1989 album that was in response to John Mayer’s album which contained a song about her? Comparing the lyrics in “Style” to lyrics written by John Mayer, it would heavily suggest that it is about him, and not about Harry Styles, despite her heavily insinuating as much in the beginning of her music video.
“Style” starts thusly:
Midnight, you come and pick me up, no headlights Long drive, could end in burning flames or paradise
The first song on Mayer’s album entitled PARADISE Valley is “Wildfire”, which as mentioned above has the lyrics “You could drive with your headlights out” in the first verse.
Fade into view, oh, It’s been a while since I have even heard from you
Assuming that Swift and Mayer had what appears to be a pretty unamicable breakup, I’m sure that he wouldn’t have given her any kind of warning about “Paper Doll” given that he was very vocal about the fact that she did not extend him the same courtesy when it came to “Dear John”.
You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye
You’ve got that long hair slick back, white t-shirt
The lyrics, “And I got that good girl faith” are oddly similar to the lyrics in “Half of My Heart”, the song the two of them sang together, which go:
Your faith is strong But I can only fall short for so long Down the road, later on You will hate that I never gave more to you than half of my heart But I can’t stop loving you
“…Vomiting, nausea, morning sickness, mood swings.Y/N, you’re pregnant. Fight me on this” Hermione said. She’s one of your best friend so you thought that you could talk with her about this. You were breathing frantically. You couldn’t be pregnant. You’re only on your 6th year at Hogwarts. It could ruin everything.
You sat down on the nearest and you started sobbing. “Hermione, I can’t be pregnant. I’m not ready. I’m only 16!” and you sobbed harder. Hermione sat beside you, she hugged you. She looked at you with worry across her face. You were a pureblood, and your family was well known. So you’re sure that they’ll disown you for this, also your boyfriend.
“What will I tell Draco? He’s the father” You whispered. You couldn’t breathe properly and you started to have hiccups. Hermione rubbed you back for you to calm down. “You know that you can’t hide this forever” Hermione said. She was right, he’ll find out one way or another. “He wouldn’t accept this” You said. You were sure about it.
“You’ll never know Y/N” she said. You rubbed your hand on your stomach and you leaned on Hermione’s shoulder. “I can’t be a mom Hermione. What if I couldn’t raise her properly?” You said softly.
“Don’t tell me you’re going for abortion Y/N!” Hermione said and you were just silent. You weren’t sure about it. You’d never kill anything as innocent as this. You made up your mind and shook your head.
“To tell you the truth. I want to keep this child, but I want to make sure that it’ll have a good life. A good life which I might never give. No money, no food, no father.” You said and tears threatened to spill again. “I wish that Draco will help me on this. I can’t lose him Hermione. I love him a bit too much.”
Tears were also in Hermione’s eyes. “Don’t worry Y/N, I’ll beat the crap out of him if he ever dares hurt you. But remember Y/N, you’ll have to tell him one day.”
Days and weeks and months passed. Everyday is as miserable as the other. You started failing classes and barely talk to Draco. Which he noticed unfortunately. The bump was getting bigger. You’d cry at night thinking about what might happen if your family or Draco finds out.
“Y/N, please tell me what’s wrong?” Draco said when both of you were in the Slytherin common room, alone.
“Wrong? W-what are you talking about?” You stuttered. He sighed. He sat down beside you on the couch and your heart was racing.
“Okay so here are my problems. First, you’ve been ignoring me. Second, your eyes are always puffy and red. Third, your-” he gulped “Your stomach is getting bigger” he finished.
Hermione was right, you could never hide it. The bump was really showing.
“Tell me what’s wrong” You sighed. But instead of answering, you stood up and went out of the common room, crying.
“Y/N!” Draco called out, you couldn’t run, but you wanted to get as far away as you can from him. You couldn’t move anymore so you sat on the nearest bench. You knew that he could catch up with you but you didn’t care anymore. You just cried. You felt someone beside you and you knew that it was Draco with out looking. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer. You wanted to pulled out from his arms but you were too weak for it.
“I’m sorry” You managed.
He took a deep breath. “How long?”
“Five months at least” You muttered.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He croaked. You cried a little more. He whispered ‘it’s okay’s and ‘you’ll be fine’s in your ear to calm you down. Once you were calmed, you started talking.
“I was scared Draco. I thought that you would leave once you find out. My parents, they’ll never accept this. It’s all a mistake, I wanted to have a normal life. But then here I am, 16 and pregnant. It’s terrible, Draco. So go ahead and leave me if you want, I’m probably ruining the image of your family” You muttered the last part. You were too tired to cry again.
“I would never leave you Y/N. I love you, and our child”
“Him” You whispered. You found out a few weeks ago. Professor McGonagall called you since she noticed that you were pregnant. Luckily, she didn’t expel you. You go to Madam Pomfrey regularly, and you found out. You weren’t happy finding out, but it just made you scared. But Draco’s reaction was the opposite, he smiled at you.
“Help me think of a name then” he said you looked at him in shock.
“W-what?” You stuttered.
“If its mine, then I’ll be the best goddamn father to him” and somehow, that was everything
I don’t know if anyone has done this before but I haven’t seen one, so I decided to do a compilation of taylorswift quotes that inspire me when I’m feeling bad in hopes that it will help out some other people.
“If you’re lucky enough to be different, never change.”
“Life isn’t how to survive the storm, it’s about how to dance in the rain.”
“When you have a long string of bad days you can choose to let it drag you down or you can find ways to rise above it.”
“I think that there are so many different ways that someone can be beautiful.”
“The trials and tribulations in your life make you stronger.”
“To me, “FEARLESS” is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, FEARLESS is having fears. FEARLESS is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, FEARLESS is living in spite of those things that scare you to death. FEARLESS is falling madly in love again, even though you’ve been hurt before. FEARLESS is walking into your freshmen year of high school at fifteen. FEARLESS is getting back up and fighting for what you want over and over again… even though every time you’ve tried before, you’ve lost. It’s FEARLESS to have faith that someday things will change. FEARLESS is having the courage to say goodbye to someone who only hurts you, even if you can’t breathe without them. I think it’s FEARLESS to fall for your best friend, even though he’s in love with someone else. And when someone apologizes to you enough times for things they’ll never stop doing, I think it’s FEARLESS to stop believing them. It’s FEARLESS to say “you’re NOT sorry”, and walk away. I think loving someone despite what people think is FEARLESS. I think allowing yourself to cry on the bathroom floor is FEARLESS. Letting go is FEARLESS. Then, moving on and being alright…That’s FEARLESS too. But no matter what love throws at you, you have to believe in it. You have to believe in love stories and prince charmings and happily ever after. That’s why I write these songs. Because I think love is FEARLESS.”
“Words can break someone into a million pieces, but they can also put them back together. I hope you use yours for good, because the only words you’ll regret more than the ones left unsaid are the ones you use to intentionally hurt someone.”
“Just be yourself, there is no one better.”
“Giving up doesn’t always mean your weak sometimes you’re just strong enough to let go.”
“Just because there’s a hurricane going on around you doesn’t mean you have to open the window and look at it.”
“Live your life like you’re 80 looking back on your teenager years. You know if your dad calls you at eight in the morning and asks if you want to go out for breakfast. As a teenager you’re like no, I want to sleep. But as an eighty year old looking back you have that breakfast with your dad. It just little things like that, that helped me when I was a teenager in terms of making choices you won’t regret.”
“There are two ways you can go with pain: You can let it destroy you or you can use it as fuel to drive you.”
“The lesson I’ve learned the most often in life is that you’re always going to know more in the future than you know now.”
“The thing about life is, every time you learn a lesson, another is waiting right at the corner. You never know everything.”
“When you hear people making hateful comments, stand up to them. Point out what a waste it is to hate, and you could open their eyes.”
“The only words you’ll regret more than the ones left unsaid, are the ones you used to intentionally hurt someone.”
"No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.”
“Never believe anyone who tells you that you don’t deserve what you want.”
“Keeping your emotions all locked up is something that’s unfair to you. When you clearly know how you feel, you should say it.”
“Dont worry. You may think you’ll never get over it. But you also thought it would last forever.”
“So don’t you worry your pretty little mind because people throw rocks at things that shine.”
“Be that strong girl that everyone knew would make it through the worst, be that fearless girl, the one who would dare to do anything, be that independent girl who didnt need a man; be that girl who never backed down.”
“I think that being good to people - you’ll never regret that. Maybe you’ll get walked all over, maybe you’ll get tricked, maybe you’ll get fooled, but I think it’s so much better to be kind to people and to trust people rather then to have your guard up and say mean things to people.”
“I think one day you’ll look up and look around and see that finding yourself wasn’t as terrifying as you thought it would be.”
“The one thing I do believe as a feminist is that in order for us to have gender equality we have to stop making it a girl fight and we have to stop being so interested in seeing girls trying to tear each other down – it has to be more about cheering each other on as women.”
“I think there is a lesson in knowing that you can live your life in a way that you’re proud of and people are still gonna take shots. And that’s not just in the world that I live in - that’s in middle school, and that’s in high school, and that’s in college, and that’s when you get your first job.”
“One thing that I’ve learned is there doesn’t have to be loneliness in being alone.”
“My parents taught me never to judge others based on whom they love, what color their skin is, or their religion. Why make life miserable for someone when you could be using your energy for good? We don’t need to share the same opinions as others, but we need to be respectful. When you hear people making hateful comments, stand up to them. Point out what a waste it is to hate, and you could open their eyes.”
