Love It or Leave It: Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette
The Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow palette is a part of the new Sephora exclusive Peaches N’ Cream Collection. This palette has 12 matte shadows that are supposed to be infused with an exclusive comfort matte technology for blendable, intense color payoff. The palette features matte shades of warm peaches, buttery creams, and rich browns that smell like peaches and cream. This palette is available at Sephora and Too Faced and costs $45.
PROS nicely pigmented Shadows apply and blend well Most shades have good lasting power (10 + hours) with primer (2 exceptions) Cute and sturdy packaging
CONS Too Faced shadows need a primer to last well (not a con for me personally because I need a primer anyways but def a con for someone who doesn’t need or want to use a primer) Peach Tart and Chocolate Dipped don’t last quite as long on the eyes even with primer (7-8 hours) Matte palette but one shade is not matte- Peach Sangria is satin Peach smell (it doesn’t bother me but it will bother others)
OVERALL Though I don’t think this palette is for everyone, I like it. The shadows are nicely pigmented, apply well, blend well, and last well with primer. With that being said, if you don’t like or want to use an eyeshadow primer I would skip on pretty much all Too Faced eyeshadows but definitely skip on this palette because it does perform much better with a primer especially Peach Tart and Chocolate Dipped. Those two shades don’t last as long with a primer so I can’t imagine they will do well without one. The other thing that I think will bother a lot of people is the peach smell. I don’t mind the smell but there are going to be people that hate it. It’s also going to bother some people that there is one satin shade in a matte palette but in all honestly, once it’s on the eyes you don’t really notice that it’s not a matte shade. So overall, if you use an eyeshadow primer and you like the shades I say this is a good palette and go for it but if any of the things I mentioned above bother you, save your money.
That is it for this edition of Love It or Leave It, next up I will be comparing the shades of the Just Peachy Mattes palette to some other warm palettes that people have been suggesting are dupes so until my next post.
Could you recommend me foundations primers that suitable for dry skin? Thank you! :)
Primers are often reserved and targeted towards those with oily, combination and acne prone skin with large pores and dry skin types often get forgotten about. Mattifying, oil free primers are great if you need your makeup to last all day or have oily skin, but on a day to day basis they can be a bit too much for dry skin. Overtime I’ve tried many primers, some bad, some good and some great. I’ve tried ones for every skin type under the sun and every skin condition/concern and as someone with dry skin myself here are some of my favourites.
Hey what are some foundations give a flawless airbrushed look?
If you want a foundation for a flawless, more air bushed look try foundations that are super silky and smooth that will just glide over any imperfections like pores, acne, uneven texture, lines, etc. Anything too matte and thick can cling to imperfections and anything too light weight won’t make much of a difference.
You may also want to try perfecting primers under your makeup! Using a silicone like primer will smooth over the skin so any makeup applied on top will look more flawless. Check out primers like Kiehls Miracle Blur, Benefit Porefessional, Tarte Poreless Smoothing Primer, Maybelline Baby Skin or ELF Mineral Infused Primer.
Try foundations like
Loreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation $12. This foundation is a “blurring” foundation so it will soften and imperfections and look really smooth and flawless on the skin.
YSL Touche Eclat Foundation $57. This foundation has a sort of a gel, cream consistency so it just glides over the skin and gives the skin this beautiful sheen. Will give your skin a soft, smooth finish!
Loreal Magic Lumi Foundation $9. This foundation doesn’t cling or draw attention to imperfections and gives your skin a satin, glowing finish.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation $62. This is like liquid silk on your skin! Gives the most beautiful, flawless finish.
I get so many makeup questions on here, twitter, and Instagram so I thought I would make a post of my current favorites and basic products I use every day!
For brows: Anastasia Brow Wiz in brunette. I set it with Espresso from my Lorac Pro palette and clean up with concealer.
Eyes: Urban Decay primer potion, Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer, I use a billion different palettes for shadows, Sephora 24 Hour Liquid Eyeliner in Black Lace, Better Than Sex mascara, Benefit Eye Bright (for waterline), and Red Cherry lashes
Foundation: Tarte BB primer in fair (I sometimes wear just this with powder on top), Estée Lauder Double Wear in Cool Bone
Concealer: Glamoflauge in light (this can be found at Walmart) and sometimes I’ll use Tarte Maracuja concealer in fair
Highlight/Blush: Hibiscus Kiss from the RiRi collection (this is a blush and bronzer duo) Bare Minerals Illuminating Mineral Veil (I use this to set concealer and to highlight)
Set: Fix+ from MAC, Almay Smart Shade in light
The brush pictured is MAC’s 128 dual fibre brush. This is an amazing foundation brush and they have a softer version of it with their most recent collection.
What are some good products to help make texture not so noticeable.
Hi there :)
Two things, exfoliation and primer!
Exfoliation will slowly fix the problem making your skin more smooth, even in texture, helps with acne, helps eliminate dry patches, helps shrink pores, etc. Exfoliation will help your skin look and feel better overall. If your skin is uneven in texture due to dry patches, acne scars/indented scars, large pores, acne, etc exfoliating will remove the dead, dry and not so nice skin. Exfoliation will make your skin more smooth and radiant with one use and over time help eliminate dark spots, shrink pores and overall skin health. Try using something like Olay Microdermabrasion Kit, one of my all time favorite exfoliating products. It’s not even every day scrub it’s an intense, once a week or once every two weeks type a deal, your skin will feel like a baby’s bottom! However any face scrub or chemical exfoliant will do the job.
Primer is great for creating an even surface under foundation. Silicone, gel like primers are great for smoothing over the skin, almost creating a second layer of skin under your makeup. A smoothing primer glides over pores, dry patches, acne so your foundation will go on more smooth and even. Try primers like Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Primer or ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer.
Translucent powder instead of pressed powder. Translucent powder is super silky and finely milled which can help blur imperfections and make the skin look more smooth. Some pressed powders can look too cakey and make the texture of the skin look even worse!
Use a flat top foundation brush or makeup sponge to apply foundation. Using a traditional foundation “paint brush” or fingers isnt always the most flattering if you have uneven texture you want to cover. A sponge or flat top brush gives the most flawless, blended finish.
Pat and press. When applying powder press the powder into the skin instead of swirling all over. This helps conceal uneven texture a bit and look more flawless.
Sorry If you've been asked this before, but does using primer/not using primer make a big difference with how your foundation will look?
It depends if you get the right primer for your certain skin type and needs. Not every primer you try will work for you! You might have to return a few until you find one that works best for you because everyone’s skin is different. I’ve just recently found my favorite primer which is the Hourglass Mineral Veil aka my true love which makes my makeup last ages and makes my skin look like silk.
There are a few types of primers
Long Wearing Primers
Pore & Line Filling Smoothing Primers
These primers fix the texture & overall look of your skin. These primers are ideal for those with large pores because they fill in any large pores creating a poreless, smooth base under foundation. A smoothing primer is also great for dry skin because it smooths over any flakey patches and makes your skin’s texture look more smooth and not as dry. These types of primers arent always best for oily skin because they don’t do much for oil control.
Just a quicky 💋
Using the new Tarte Mattenificent palette, gifted mascara and multipleye liner.
Anastasia perfect brow pencil in blonde.
