ultimate back to school masterpost

it has come…the witching hour…the time of doom is now upon us…okay so obviously ignore me, i’m a huge nerd. but if you’re like me, going back to school is a terrible, nerve-wracking experience. so here are some tips to help you survive this.

1. Do. Your. Summer. Work. If you haven’t started on it now, turn off whatever device you’re reading this on and start working. Many teachers will test you on whatever summer work you were assigned, and occasionally it can count for a significant portion of your first semester grade. Seriously, don’t put it off until the last minute, because then you really won’t want to do it. Plus, then you’ll have more time to focus on binge-watching Netflix uninterrupted.

2. Whether you’re moving to an entirely new school or just a new grade, things will change this year in some way. You have to be ready for it. And you-yes, you-can be one of those things. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself. Want to dye your hair? Try a new extracurricular? Break a bad habit? Learn a new language? Go for it.

3. Push yourself, but not at the expense of your mental health. No test or project is worth breaking down over. That being said, procrastination is the enemy of progress. You won’t do it later-and if you do, you won’t do it as well as you could have.

4. Make time for your friends and yourself. Don’t let school take over your life. Self care and having fun are important too.

5. Wherever you are, whenever you are, people are going to judge you. It’s how we’re wired-we’re a judgmental species. There’s really no point in worrying about how other people perceive you because you can’t please everyone. You could be an actual saint canonized by the pope AND cure cancer AND negotiate an armistice between the forces of good and the rabid radioactive alien wolves sworn to destroy all humanity and still some people are going to call you “bitchy,” “fake,” “weird,” “trying too hard,” et cetera, et cetera. Be unabashedly you.

6. You are smart. Really really smart. So what if you don’t have perfect grades or the best ACT score? If you’re trying your best-really, really your best-no one can fault you for it.

7. People who are confident in the knowledge of their own intelligence don’t:

  • play the “grade game” i.e. “whadja get??? i’m sure you did great…seriously whadja get tho?? c’mon show me, i won’t tell anyone.” (u know these kids)
  • loudly complain about getting an A minus/B plus when they know other people didn’t do as well as them
  • say they “didn’t study” every time there’s a test
  • cheat
  • lecture people when they didn’t ask for it
  • brag about their grades/scholarships/other opportunities
  • compare themselves to/compete with other students constantly
  • condescend to others
  • talk about how much “busier” they are than other students all the time
  • put others down whenever they talk about successes (”i’ve won loads of those; it’s not that hard to do.” “you do know everyone who applied for science olympiad got in, right?”) *the last one someone actually said to me-and it was a blatant lie so double wtf??
  • lie about accomplishments when asked (just say you don’t want to talk about it its? not? that? hard?)
  • make fun of people who don’t do as well as you

Bottom line: Be honest with yourself-do you do any of these things? If so, why? The truth is, if you view your academic life as this crazy competition, you’re not going to have any fun, you’re going to lose friends over it, and people aren’t going to see you as a role model to emulate, they’re going to think you’re well…an arrogant, self-centered tool. Everyone loves that you care about school, and everyone can see that you’re really smart and driven. You have nothing to prove, and everything to lose. If you want to do well for yourself, that’s great. But if it’s all about one-upping other people, it’s not worth it. Like in writing, show, don’t tell, how competitive of a student you are.

8. Good friends don’t:

  • put you down
  • exclude you
  • stifle you
  • use you as an emotional dumping ground
  • stop supporting you
  • tell people your secrets
  • gaslight you
  • manipulate you
  • make you feel unsafe
  • abuse you in any capacity
  • threaten to rescind their friendship for small offenses
  • make jokes that you find offensive
  • ignore you/give you the silent treatment without telling you what’s wrong
  • pressure you into doing things you don’t want to
  • only hang out with you when their “best friends” aren’t around
  • talk about themselves all the time but never ask you about yourself
  • mooch off you
  • stop talking to you for no reason
  • refuse to stick up for you when people are being jerks

Bottom line-if you feel like you come in second, if you feel like you’re the one that has to do all the work in the friendship, you have to ask yourself why you’re trying so hard. Having healthy friendships is as important as having healthy romantic relationships. Of course, there are degrees to how toxic friendships can be. I’ve been in some fairly awful ones that I had to cut off completely, but I’ve managed to reconnect with other people who I didn’t have good friendships with (i’m always careful never to get too close to those people though.) If you’re being abused or manipulated by a friend, you need to CUT THAT PERSON OFF. You deserve friends who treat you with respect. If your friends don’t, you’re better off alone (at least until you’ve found some real friends.)

9. No significant other or crush is more important than your grades, your extracurriculars, or your mental health. If your relationship is taking over your life, take a step back and ask, “Where do I see this going?” Don’t waste time with people who don’t treat you right or people who aren’t interested. When the right person comes along (and they will!), you won’t have to feel nervous or awkward around them.

10. Study smarter, not harder. Use abbreviations in your notes and find shortcuts to difficult math problems. Of course, do all your homework. It’ll cost you big time in the long run.

11. Buy some clothes that you actually want to wear, and get rid of the ones that you hate. It’ll make getting up in the morning that much better if you feel confident about how you look. Dress for yourself-you are not “slutty” or “trying too hard” for wanting to look good.

12. Find your textbooks online so you don’t have to lug them back and forth every day. Don’t wait to buy your supplies-buy them now so you can get good deals and won’t end up scouring every office supply store for that particular brand of pencil.

13. Participate. Seriously. I didn’t realize what a difference this made until I got to high school. Even if you feel like you’re going to get the question wrong, even if you feel like you’re not smart enough to add anything interesting to the class discussion, say something. Not only does it make the teacher notice you-which in a big class is super important-it’ll show that you’re paying attention and that you want to learn. If you participate, teachers will be more likely to remember you and you’ll feel more confident about yourself, as well as less tempted to doze off or talk to your friends. Do this in all your classes-even the ones you’re not as good at-and you will see better grades-guaranteed (especially if they grade on participation).

14. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You’re not stupid if you don’t understand something. If you can, ask someone to tutor you if you’re struggling. Ask the teacher for extra practice on what you struggle with. If no one is asking your question for you in class, you have to ask it yourself, otherwise you’re never going to learn.

15. Hard test? Start studying 3-4 days in advance. One day review notes and material; the others do practice exercises or quiz yourself. If possible, study with friends-as long as they don’t distract you. Take 5-10 minute breaks in between sessions so you don’t burn out.

16. Make a studying playlist and a motivational playlist. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel about studying. Only do extracurriculars you actually enjoy-not ones you just do because you think it will look good on some application or the other. Don’t load up on these activities either or your grades will start to dip.

17. Know the dates and times of any big standardized tests you’re taking (SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP tests, IB tests, IGSE, GCSE, SAT Subject Tests, etc.). Plan to start reviewing for these at least a month before the exam. (and a month before only if you know you’re really good at that kind of test-taking.)

18. Edit your essays, once by yourself and once with a friend. Know the format your teacher wants so you don’t have to waste time googling “MLA in-text citation” every time you have an essay due.

19. This may come as a surprise to you, but you are not the center of the universe. So before you go on long rants about how hard your life is, remember, you have no idea what the person you’re sitting next to might be going through. You are not the only person ever who’s had to juggle hard classes, extracurriculars, a job, and family problems at the same time. Other people are also struggling-what you’re going through is not more difficult or more meaningful than what anyone else is dealing with. This year, make a resolution to ask people questions about themselves, to listen to others, instead of making everything about you. You will be surprised at how much more people will trust you and how many more friends you will make. Also, guess what? Bad days happen to everyone-so stop taking out your frustrations on people that you care about. It’s petty, it’s stupid, it’s not fair, and it’s the quickest way to make your bad day a little worse.

20. Regardless of whatever happens this year, you will graduate, you will get a job that makes you happy, and you will be a wonderful, intelligent, beautiful, successful human being. If you get nothing else out of this post, take this-don’t get yourself so taken in by that weird, hive-mind-toxic culture that school perpetuates that you lose the ability to deal with the people who are truly important to you. At the end of the day, you want to say that you came out of this school year a happier, wiser person than you entered it.

“If a man can bridge the gap between life and death, I mean if he can live on after he’s died, then maybe he was a great man. When they talk about success, they talk about reaching the top. Well, there is no top. You’ve got to go on and on, never stop at any point. To me, the only success, the only greatness for man is immortality. To have your work remembered in history, to leave something in this world that will last for centuries - that’s greatness.”

Russian Superstitions

Omens/Protection

  • Knocking on wood is practiced in Russia as in other countries. However Russians tend to add a symbolic three spits over one’s left shoulder (or simply with the head turned to the left), and Russians will often knock three times as well. Traditionally one was spitting on the devil (who is always on the left).
  • Returning home for forgotten things is a bad omen. It is better to leave it behind, but if returning is necessary, one should look in the mirror before leaving the house again. Otherwise the journey will be bad.
  • If one feels that he or she may have been cursed by someone (the evil eye) or just has the feeling of a hostile presence, it is recommended to remove one’s coat and then put it back on starting with the hand opposing the usually used one. It is also recommended to pin a French Pin inside your clothing to avoid the curse of the evil eye in the first place.
  • Birds that land on a windowsill should be chased away. If they tap on the window, or fly into it (open or closed) it is considered a very bad omen (often of death).
  • A woman with empty water buckets coming towards you is considered a bad omen.
  • It is bad luck to use physical hand gestures to demonstrate something negative using oneself or someone else as the object. For example, when describing a scar you saw on someone’s face you should not gesture on your own face or someone else’s. If you must, you can demonstrate in mid-air. If one does it without realising, it can be countered by making a hand motion towards the body part used and then an abrupt motion away (as if to pick up the bad energy and throw it away) or by wiping the area with your hand and then blowing on your hand (as if to wipe off the bad energy and then blow it away).
  • Looking into a broken mirror almost certainly brings bad luck. The superstition says that if you look into a broken mirror, you break your inner world, and your soul becomes defenceless against the dark forces.

Love

  • Never give yellow flowers to your lover, as it implies that an argument will happen and your relationship will end.
  • Lucky in cards not lucky in love. This, however, is only a pre-marital superstition. The reason for the division is that marriage is a sacrament in the Russian Orthodox Church, and this sacrament, ordained by God, eviscerates the pre-marital superstition. Thus, when a man is bonded by divine sacrament to a single woman whom he loves the cause and effect is reversed: namely, his married love for a single woman, and her love for him, will bring him good fortune in all endeavors including cards.
  • During the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom carry candles. Whoever’s candle died first, was the one who would die first.
  • If a woman puts too much salt on the meals this means she is in love.
  • Do not take your wedding ring off to show it to someone else, or worse still to let them try it on. The wedding ring is worn on your fourth finger, which is the one under the influence of the sun, and is a sign of our heart’s true love. If you take it off to show to another, it means you are giving away your love and happiness to a stranger.
  • In Russian superstition if a couple sets a wedding date and doesn’t end up getting married on that date they can not set another date and should not get married as their union will be cursed.

Cause And Effect

  • If your ears or cheeks are hot, someone is thinking or talking about you (usually speaking ill).
  • If your right eye itches, you’re going to be happy soon. If your left eye itches, you’ll be sad.
  • If you have hiccups, someone is remembering you at this moment.
  • If an eyelash falls out you’ll receive a gift. If someone finds an eyelash on someone he or she will sometimes let the person blow it away and make a wish.
  • If a fork or spoon falls on the ground, expect a female guest. If a knife falls, expect a male guest.
  • If someone sneezes while telling something, it means he or she is telling the truth.

Miscellaneous

  • Russians will typically avoid talking about pending successes. They believe that it is bad luck to talk about upcoming success before it actually occurs.
  • Never greet, or say goodbye to someone in a doorway. The threshold divides people, and in traditional Russian folklore, the house spirit resides here, so this superstition says that your greetings and gifts will not bring fortune or good luck.
  • It is best to cut your hair or nails during a full moon.
  • When someone is talking about something very undesirable or bad, the listener should say in Russian “Типун тебе на язык!” (tipun tebe na yazyk), which is generally translated as “Curse that tongue of yours!”. This expression is not meant to be offensive at all but is rather used as a spell for prevention of evil and bad luck.
  • Moving to the new house one must first let a cat go in first to assure harmony in the household.
  • If you sing on an empty stomach, you will chase your money away.
  • Do not pick up coins from the road. The popular belief is that such coins carry negative energy if they were thrown by a bad person and cause sickness.

I’ve been thinking about professor!magnus and soldier!alec since yesterday and idk if I want to commit myself to writing something like that when I know nothing about the army but I feel like there could be something very heartbreaking about it.

Like maybe Alec is about to be deployed and it’s his what… 2nd? 3rd? tour and he’s happy to be unattached, despite what his siblings always say, because he knows how hard it is to be separated from the ones he loves but also to be left behind and he doesn’t want to do that to someone. So he doesn’t date and he doesn’t have a lot of close friends apart from his family and it’s ok, hes doing something important, serving his country and following his family’s footsteps (ofc they’d be a big military family) but then he meets Magnus … Idk where, somewhere random like a bookstore or grocery store or the outdoor market Izzy dragged him to and sparks  f l y. And Alec is confused/overwhelmed and reluctant despite Magnus flirting 110% with him. Maybe they exchange numbers maybe not, maybe they randomly meet again and Magnus is like uh funny twist of fate *flirty grin* and Alec is just…. abort mission holy shit help ???Because even though he’s had flings and hooks up, he’s never had a crush or somebody that made him go w o w  like this and it’s new? But he kinda wants to break his rule and say yes when the hot college professor asks him out and that’s new and kinda scary but he blurts out yes before he can fully think about it or change his mind. Of course, he has a nervous breakdown afterward and Izzy is like pls find your chill but he can’t find his chill cause he’s going away to get shot at in less than 3 months and the timing couldn’t more off and that’s not fair to Magnus to get him involved like that… Because, of course, Alec is the type of person to worry too much before anything even happens. Anyway, so they go on a date maybe a walk at dusk and some ice cream?? Idk why but I’m imagining this is set in a small coastal town? They can walk near the water while talking about everything and nothing?? I’m seeing a make out session on top of a lighthouse? Anyway, when Alec tells Magnus what he does and where he’s going he’s all sorry about that I should have told you straight away when you asked me out but Magnus is all its ok lets just see where this goes, it doesn’t have to be serious since you’re leaving so soon and they agree to have a fling… but feelings happen and it’s inconvenient!!!

I like imagining Alec walking Magnus to his classes when he’s stayed over the night before (Magnus teaches history in this, I feel it). And maybe on mornings he wasn’t at Magnus’ he does a little detour on his morning run to buy him breakfast and he leaves it in his office during the 8am lecture that Magnus hates so that he’ll have something nice after that hardship, a little muffin and a coffee with a cute note on the cup ‘cause Alec is sappy af even though he tries very hard to hide it. And maybe he buys Magnus peonies at some point, just because they’re pretty and Magnus is pretty and he’s never bought flowers for anyone before and he wanted to… And Magnus keeps teasing him flowers are not casual Mister!! because it’s easier to flirt and tease than to acknowledge the fact that Alec is leaving really soon and he might not come back, and Magnus isn’t even important enough to be considered someone he’s leaving behind (or at least that’s how he feels). Magnus tries not to think about it but he’s obsessing over the idea that he doesn’t even know Alec’s family and friends, doesn’t know anyone who would tell him if something happened??? But he doesn’t want to bring it up because it’s supposed to be casual and meaningless, something that ends when the semester ends. So they keep going on dates and Alec cooks for him and Magnus tries to ignore the uneasy feeling growing in his chest as time flies too fast. Until there aren’t any time left and Alec is leaving. So they take a walk just like their first date and they have ice cream and they make love and they definitely don’t talk about it even though they both know that they should and Alec just… leaves.

And Magnus tries not to have a hard time about it but it’s tough and he’s grateful it’s the end of the semester ‘cause at least he’s busy between marking terrible essays and correcting exams. He goes out with his friends from the history department once they’re all done and he tries to have a fun time, but truth is… he’s worried. He starts watching the news a little too obsessively and his friends don’t like it but he can’t help himself.

Alec has been gone three weeks when the first letter comes. It takes Magnus by surprise at first because in all the times they’ve been together Alec has always been a man of little words. That’s not to say he was emotionally unavailable or unwilling to discuss things and his feelings, but this is new, the way the words flow easily on the page like it was no hardship at all to put it all down, descriptions of his unit and where he is, a full paragraph about how much he misses Magnus’ cat and nothing about them at all. But Magnus gets it, he sees it for what it is, a peace offering maybe or a stubborn unwillingness to let go, so he writes back. He talks about his students, their successes and their struggles, and his friends, little things that have reminded him of Alec since he’s been gone. Soft stories for a soft boy in a hard place. And they keep going back and forth, sending each other little pieces of their respective lives and it should be enough, it’s more than Magnus expected, but it’s tough and he misses Alec like a limb, misses him in his bed and in his kitchen, misses him when summer classes start and he has no one to hold his hand on his way to work, no callused fingers to wrap around his… But every new letter is a blessing. It says many things but underneath it all, the most important message is I’m still here, I’m alive and I’m thinking about you.

Okay so maybe it all comes to a halt one day when his phone rings and it’s Alec on the line, after all those weeks, all those months, and he sounds like h e l l  and he’s there on the phone, apologizing to Magnus because his phone bill is gonna be awful but I …. I just… I needed to hear your voice Magnus, I’m sorry. You… you c-can send me the bill if you want, I just… and it takes everything Magnus has for him not to break down and cry right there and then because Alec really doesn’t sound okay and he has no idea what happened and he has no idea what they are but that’s his boy there on the phone who’s hurting and he hasn’t heard his voice in weeks… So Magnus is like Please shut up about my phone bill, I don’t give a fuck about that. How are you? Are you okay? What happened? And Alec is reluctant to talk about it, doesn’t want to give any details, just keeps saying rough day, Magnus, rough day in this small voice and Magnus hates it more than he’s ever hated anything in his life. He doesn’t want to push Alec too hard so he just asks what can I do? and he hates the way his voice shakes, he wishes he could be stronger than this but Alec doesn’t seem to mind, he just sighs like he’s tired deep in his bones, deep in his soul, and says: just talk to me. So Magnus does, he rambles on nervously about what he had for breakfast and what he taught today, his lecture plan for tomorrow, his neighbor’s hatred for his cat and his favorite designer on the new season of Project Runway. He just babbles on, hoping it can help. All he wants to do is help. Alec hums here and there, asks a few questions, especially about Magnus’ work and at some point he runs out of things to say. There’s a beat of silence before he whispers I love you and he knows that won’t help but he can’t keep it inside anymore, he can’t live with this trapped inside of him, fighting to break free. Alec sighs again. I.. I w-wish… You… you shouldn’t say that. Don’t say that, please. It shouldn’t take Magnus by surprise but it does and it hurts. Me not saying it won’t make it untrue Alexander. Alec groans in frustration and Magnus can picture it perfectly, the way he’s probably bent over, head between his knees, one hand harshly buried in his hair. I didn’t want to put you through that. I didn’t want to put anyone through that but especially not you. He’s so noble and he’s so caring and Magnus knew that already but it hits him again, hard, that this is a man who puts others before himself every single time and who will fight tooth and nail anyone who dares try taking care of him. So Magnus does his best to sound as stern as he can:  Well just too bad because I’m here and you’re there and I love you. And you wishing it hadn’t happened won’t change anything and if you like me even the tiniest bit you’ll call me again because I have been worried sick.

Alec calls every week after that. There’s a new kind of anxiety that comes with waiting for the phone call, waiting for the confirmation that Alec is okay, but Magnus is happy to live with it when it means he can hear Alec’s voice once a week, warm and soft when he asks Magnus what he’s been up to and insists to be put on the phone with the cat. I don’t want him to forget me!

That boy.

They don’t talk about what they are again and it takes until Alec is back on American soil, his head buried in Magnus’ neck so no one can see him cry, for him to say I love you back, but it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t need it. For now, Magnus cherishes every time his phone rings and he gets connected to Alec, he cherishes every time he can make him laugh, he cherishes every single plan they start making, every single hint that they can have a future together.

It’s enough.

- Tyrion and Dany talk about succession
- They remind us she can’t have children
- Jorah tells Jon basically to pass longclaw to his children
- Dany talks (again) about not being able to have children. She tells Jon (again) that the dragons are her children
- Only death can pay for life. Viserion dies.

I wonder who’s getting pregnant next episode.

Spider-Man

Summary: After Sam insults Peter the reader comes up with a plan to get him back…a very creative plan.

Word Count: 1886

Authors note: SMUT! SHORT BY SMUTTY! Peter is 18 in this fic, and it’s mentioned within the actual story:) Let me know what you guys think!

You were standing in the compounds kitchen looking through your phone when your favorite crime fighting spider entered the room. Peter angrily ran a hand through his hair, mumbling to himself.

Looking up you asked, “What’s wrong Peter?”. Peter was pulled from his thoughts, now holding your gaze. Shaking his head he asked, “You don’t think I’m just a child right (y/n)?”.

He walked over to you as you wrapped your arms around his neck. Out of habit Peter rested his hands on your hips. You smiled, “You are spider-man”.

Anatomy of a spell

When it comes down to spellcasting, I’ve seen a vast number of ways. There are as many types of witchcraft as there are witches, and there are twice as many ways to cast a spell as there are types of witchcraft. Which means a lot.

So when I wanted to write it down into my Book, I knew I had to find some common ground. I am not going to write a book on it, I just want a note in my journal! That is how I came down to the very basics behind building spells, the very fundaments, the bare bones. The anatomy of a spell.

It does not only help those who write their own spells, but also those who use shared spells - you will be able to know exactly what to expect, what you can alter, and most importantly, how to alter it so it meets your needs.

Because a spell is made out of three things: the what, the how and the who.

What you need to figure out before even starting to think about a spell is what you need it for. Just a “prosperity spell” doesn’t mean too much, does it? Yes, you can make general spells, but the more general it is, the more fuzzy the effect will be.

The what is the intent, and it will determine the ingredients. That’s where correspondences come in, because correspondences are like spirit pictograms, metaphysical sign language. By pulling out cinnamon, basil and pennies, you’re telling the world “I’m going to be talking about prosperity, wealth and success here”. Be mindful that many ingredients have a certain feel next to their correspondence. Both black pepper and eggshells are corresponding with protection, but black pepper is also used in banishings and energy spells - it’s more of a “I’m punching you so go away” protection, while eggshells are more like saying “stay away”. Keep in mind what exactly  you want the world to hear when you communicate in witch-speak.

Then you need to know how you want it to happen. What is it that needs to be done, what kind of spell it’s gonna be. “Prosperity spell” usually means “dragging in prosperity”, but you could also drive prosperity away and the “what” of the spell would still be prosperity.

That’s where you choose how you’re going to speak about things, because just as a question mark at the end of a sentence and intonation can make or break communication (”You’re sure.” vs “You’re sure?”) , so can the way you deal with a spell. Here’s some witchy punctation I’ve gathered so far:

  • candles-> invoking, releasing (activating/setting free), banishing
  • jars-> containing/restraining, prolonging and keeping, attracting continuoesly (better for things that run out and you need to replenish them)
  • charms/enchantments-> invoking, conjuring, keeping (better as gifts, because portable)
  • sigils-> marking as/with, attracting, invoking
  • knots-> binding and uncrossing, attracting and keeping (better for things that are stable and don’t need ‘recharging’)
  • potions/oils-> (type of charm, really)  invoking, conjuring, keeping

Then there is the who, meaning the target. usually spells are either general in target (to whoever stumbles upon the spell), personal, or targeted - that’s where taglocks like poppets, photos or belongings.

So, back to the example I made. After re-inspecting, it’s not a “prosperity spell” that I need, it’s a “spell to attract money to my home". You choose a jar spell, because you need to attract and keep attracting, because money runs out, and gather the proper ingredients: pennies, green aventurine and some cedar. The spell will be in your home, so no need for a taglock. But how do you put it together now?

Actions that make a spell out of all the parts are also important, because they’re the tonation of the witch speak, and they go hand-in-hand with the type of the spell.

  • To ADD what you speak of-> carve, bathe in, mix, rub, fill
  • To REMOVE-> cut, rip, burn, throw away, sweep
  • To KEEP-> bury, hide, seal, burn (activate), use as intended

So since I want to “ADD AND KEEP” money in my house, I can mix the ingredients, fill the jar with the ingredients, and then seal it and hide in a cabinet. Or I could anoint a candle with cedar oil (rub) and carve a prosperity sigil on it, then burn it to activate the intention, then bury the remains in my yard (keep). Or maybe I could make a potion out of the ingredients (mix), and then drink it (use as intended).

Doesn’t this make spell-writing hella easier? Because for me, getting a crash-course in witch-speak explained a couple things.

warnings: momentarily sub!jimin, the dom, then sub….. oral, uhhh………… some public stuff (only briefly!!!) and then ur typical things

a/n: …………… i don’t know where to begin. this is….. i have no excuse. i’m very awkward? and found out that this has been sitting in my draft folder since may???? so i didn’t think i’d ever finish it but… here i am. i apologize if it ain’t that great! but i think for a first it’s not bad sO.

“Babe, do we really have to go?”

“It’s your business party,” you laughed, fixing Jimin’s tie for him. “Besides, we won’t have to pay for the food or alcohol there. Could it get any better?”

Upon hearing this Jimin chuckled softly and snaked his arms around your waist, holding you close. His body pressed firmly against your own, while your hands rested on top of his chest.

“Can’t we just stay here? I don’t know if I want my babygirl to leave, especially when she looks this incredible. People might stare,” he hummed, voice low as his hand began making its way down your back, over the curve of your ass.

“I know I look good in this dress, which is precisely why we should go to the dinner. You gotta show everyone that you’ve got yourself a trophy,” you laughed, and a smile appeared on Jimin’s full lips.

“Fine, alright,” he said, letting go of you — not before pecking your cheek softly first, of course. “But we’re heading up to the room as soon as possible, okay?”

I really hope that in 4 years we haven’t fully humanized Trump. I fear that one good Joint Sessions speech is fooling everyone into thinking that he can pass as a good leader and a popular figure.

Like even CNN anchors are talking about his speech’s successes days after he reaffirmed his belief that their network is THE ENEMY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

i have a bit of a seething hatred for jj but i actually really appreciate isabella? shes quite lovely and you know she puts up with 115% of jjs bullshit bc she loves him so much. shes such a supportive fiancee and i get the feeling that jjs parents absolutely adore her.

I think a lot of the hatred around JJ stems from him being unaware of the insensitive, and frankly rude, things he says and does. Like the part where he used “lady” as a degrading term towards Yuri and the time where he approached Victor and Yuuri to talk about another competitor’s successful jump. While that “ladies first” comment was a dick move, an act of douche-baggery, and offensive, I feel like JJ didn’t really mean for it to come across that way. Like in NO way am I excusing him for it but JJ as a person is very lax with his words and attitude for most of the time. He’s got a diva personality, he’s flamboyant as fuck, and he likes teasing people and being included in things. The desire to be included but obviously not mixing well with the rest of the competitors probably evoked more of a desire in him to be included; resulting in him making some insensitive, teasing remarks to just get a reaction out of people and to be at least SOMEWHAT included in their conversation.

I really do like JJ because the real, unfiltered/uninfluenced JJ we see in his flashbacks when he proposed to Isabella and when he broke down in front of his parents is so damn relatable. He carries a nation’s hope and he’s put the pressure on himself to succeed so he can be WORTHY of returning Isabella’s love.

The thing is I don’t think JJ truly believes that he deserves Isabella when he first proposed. His proposal had a condition. He wouldn’t marry Isabella UNTIL he won the GPF. In this way, I believe JJ does struggle with dealing with relationships and really understanding that Isabella would love him anyways. Just like how he needs to understand that he doesn’t have to be all up in everyone’s shit to be included or to be friends with everyone. That he doesn’t have to have a king’s attitude to be admired. He doesn’t need to prove anything but he thinks he does.

But JJ crumbles. He’s put up such an attitude of “I’M AN UNDEFEATABLE KING” that he has not allowed himself to be human. Even Victor admitted that JJ was a top candidate for gold because of just how INHUMAN his routines were. He hasn’t made ANY mistakes during the times we’ve watched him skate so when he finally does, he doesn’t know how to cope with it at all. But we see him pick himself up and embrace himself again and I find that beautiful. And of course, it was so touching to see Isabella stand with him through thick and thin. She’s crying, laughing, and celebrating with him every step of the way and I feel like that’s what a true fairy tale romance for a king looks like.

I’m watching Hannibal with Lulav over Skype and her reactions are FANTASTIC:

  • “Oh, which episode is this? Is this the one where Will dissociates while teaching? Wait, that’s all the episodes, isn’t it?”
  • First scene with Jack and Will: “Was that massive invasion of personal space necessary???????”
  • “Are we in Minnesota yet? How about now?”
  • Multiple times: “Will’s a SWEATY boy”/”Will’s a SWEATY girl”
  • “Hannibal is just FLIRTING with Will, isn’t he!”
  • “Abigail is my favorite.”
  • “I found this picture on google! Who are they? Are they gay? They look gay” (Me: “There isn’t a canonical answer, but considering it’s Hannibal, Chiyoh had a good chance of eventually turning out to be bi or gay, like every single other character I guess.”)
  • Hannibal and Will’s “I feel responsible for Abby convo”: “ACCIDENTAL BABY ACQUISITION.” (Me: “Oh yeah, “”accidental”””)
  • “Wait, Bryan Fuller wasn’t involved in making Glee at all, right?” Several minutes later: “RYAN MURPHY DIDN’T MAKE HANNIBAL EITHER, RIGHT?”
  • “Hannibal is kind of a hot dad.” Me: “BAD.” Lu: “He has Abigail, so he qualifies!”
  • “Why does Hannibal have ANY friends? He’s so weird!!”
