december 31st, 2015, 10:23 pm: i saw you for the first time. you were talking to a girl and i could tell that you were capturing her with every syllable that left your mouth. and i knew why: you were beautiful and bright, and i was drawn to you even then, like the planets are drawn to the sun.

december 31st, 2015, 11:58 pm: we met standing in line for the bathroom. you introduced yourself, and asked for my name, smiling when i gave it. “lovely,” you murmured, and repeated it a few more times, rolling the letters around in your mouth like a new food.

january 1st, 2016, 12:05 am: i could still feel you on me, your lips, minutes, hours, months later. the clock had struck midnight and you just grabbed me, didn’t ask if it was okay until it was over. you were laughing, brushing it off, all teeth and well-kissed lips, but i knew i saw you blushing.

january 21st, 2016, 1:12 pm: you got my number through the mutual friend that threw the party. i still don’t know how you got my address. i didn’t remember telling you. you couldn’t tell me, either.

february 14th, 2016, 9:12 pm: you took me out to dinner and bought me chocolate and roses. it was all so cliche, and i loved every second of it. when you kissed me good night, i swore i could feel the rest of my life, pressed right up against my lips.

february 26th, 2016, 11:33 pm: we made it official. i remember how you asked me, how shy you got, like you didn’t know what the answer would be.

march 17th, 2016, 5:43 pm: we spent the day at the saint patrick’s day parade, and you filled yourself with beer and kissed me hard against the bar bathroom door. i drove you home and that was the first time you told me you loved me.

march 18th, 2016, 9:24 am: you called me and told me you loved me again. “i want to make sure that you know i still mean it when i’m sober,” you said.

march 24th, 2016, 1:09 pm: i met your parents at easter brunch. you had demanded i come with you, and i was glad i did. your mother was kind and beautiful, and your father was warm and handsome, just like i knew they’d be. after we’d eaten, your mother got me alone. “he’s never brought a girl home before,” she told me, “normally he isn’t very open about who he’s dating. but you, you’re different. don’t read into this, but i think he may really think you’re special.”

april 12th, 2016, 8:31 pm: you saw me naked for the first time, and you kissed every inch of my skin. i’d never felt that much love from anybody before that night, and i haven’t since. not even you could replicate those few hours.

may 5th, 2016, 4:57 pm: we fought for the first time. i ran into my ex at the grocery store and wanted to chat for a few minutes. you didn’t. when we got in the car, you told me that if i was still in love with somebody else i could just leave, and i told you that you should trust me and not be so insecure about our relationship. we screamed the whole way home and you slammed the car door when i dropped you off. i almost crashed three times on the drive home.

may 6th, 2016, 8:03 am: you came by with flowers and breakfast. “I’m sorry,” you told me, “you just mean so much to me, and the thought of you ever being anyone else’s makes me sick.” i smiled, “but you don’t have to worry about that now. i’m yours.”

june 16th, 2016, 10:51 pm: for my birthday you took me out to dinner and gave me a beautiful necklace with a silver chain and pearl pendant. we drank expensive wine and stumbled back to my place and fucked. i had never been fucked before, not like this. i woke up the next morning with bite marks on my neck and hickeys all the way down my stomach, but you were gone. “had to run,” you’d written on a post it note, “i love you.”

june 18th, 2016, 2: 41 pm: i hadn’t seen you since my birthday and you weren’t picking up when i’d call.

june 19th, 2016, 3:13 am: “ had to run,” the post it note had said. maybe you were running from me. i couldn’t tell if it was the 3 am darkness talking or the part of me that already knew.

july 1st, 2016, 4:01 am: i looked over at you, sleeping in the darkness beside me. when we were together, things felt perfectly normal. but now, i could feel the shifts. “are we falling apart?” i whispered to you, and although i hadn’t expected an answer, the silence broke my heart all the same.

july 4th, 2016, 6:47 pm: we were at a barbecue and i saw you across the crowd, talking to a girl. i saw the way she was drinking up every word that escaped from between your lips, and that’s when i knew. that’s when i knew you weren’t mine anymore.
july 21st, 2016, 7:08 pm: i brought it up to you. “i think we’re starting to grow apart,” i said, “there’s a distance between us that wasn’t here before.” you reassured me that it was all in my head, but i didn’t hear it in your voice. i didn’t see it in your eyes. you knew it was there, too, but unlike me, you weren’t trying to do anything to stop it.

august 10th, 2016, 11:37 pm: i lay awake and thought about what your mother said, all these months later. “don’t read into this.” but of course i did. i couldn’t help myself. fuck, i loved you so much.
august 15th, 2016, 1:12 pm: you invited me over and i discovered that the key you’d given me no longer worked. “i had the locks changed,” you said, “i’ll get you a new one.” it was a lie, and i knew it. you didn’t get me a new key.

september 8th, 2016, 2:00 pm: i caught you cheating. in a desperate attempt to revive the romance we’d had at the beginning of our relationship, i bought dinner and brought it to your place. when you finally opened the door, i saw it written all over your face; the way your eyes widened, the way your jaw dropped, the way your cheeks drained of color. i heard it in the stammer of your voice, the sharp intake of your breath, the grinding of your teeth. when the girl walked up behind you, half naked, asking who it was at the door, i already knew. “how could you?” i whispered, and you just opened and closed your mouth. the girl pieced it together and started screaming. she hadn’t known. i left the food at the doorstep.

september 10th, 2016, 1:49 am: you never called after that, never came by, never reached out, but it wasn’t like we’d needed to confirm anything. i knew it was over, but it took every ounce of willpower i had not to go back to your place and find out why, why everything.

september 27th, 2016, 6:20 pm: i kept finding myself huddled in a ball; in my bedroom, in my kitchen, in my shower. not crying, or yelling. just huddled, clutching my body close to myself, staring. still not understanding.

october 31st 2016, 9:01 pm: i spent halloween haunted by the ghost of you. your face was around every corner. i could still feel your touch trickling down my spine. that night, i lost it. the anger surged through the sadness and bubbled to the surface. i screamed until my throat was raw, screamed at nothing, about nothing, for no reason other than i was too full.

november 10th, 2016, 2:17 am: you called me when you were drunk and i answered. i listened to you ramble, vomiting up apology after apology. near the end, you told me you loved me. “call me tomorrow when you’re sober if you still love me,” i said.  you didn’t.

november 25th, 2016, 7:15 pm: i went out on a date with somebody new. they didn’t pull me in like you did, but for a few hours, i forgot about you and i felt okay. i drank myself to sleep that night so i wouldn’t have to think about you. the next morning, the hangover hurt more than you did. it was a start.

december 24th, 2016, 8:12 pm: i was spending christmas with my family, and i was doing great until my aunt asked about you. i told her you cheated, but i was doing okay, and then i excused myself and threw up the appetizers into the toilet. i called you then, and when you picked up, i let out a sob. “you ruined me, you fuck,” i croaked, “and you can’t even apologize. not when you’re sober, at least.” there were a few seconds of silence, and then you hung up. i still hope that it ruined your christmas.

december 31st, 2016, 10:23 pm: i saw you for the first time in months across the crowd. it made me sick to know that even after all that had happened, you were still the most beautiful person in the room to me.

december 31st, 2016, 11:55 pm: you found me in the kitchen. “i wanted to tell you i’m sorry,” you yelled over the music, “and i miss you.” and in those final moments of the year, i thought about it. i thought about letting you back in. the countdown started, and you moved closer to me. and i.. i pushed you away. i turned away from you and said, “no. i can’t.” and i walked out of the room.

january 1st, 2017, 12:05 am: i have forgotten how you felt against me, your lips. and for the first time, i am finally okay with that.

—  a year in review -c.h. // instagram: @evanescent.love (via @poeticaffinity)

hello and welcome to my first studyblr post!! i’ve seen a ton of these around, but not many have all the tips i’ve learned throughout high school. i go to a private preparatory school and i’m top 5 in my class and i lead many extracurriculars. last year was the CRAZIEST year of my life, but with a certain mindset & only a few all nighters, i managed all A’s in all advanced courses. So, here are the tips i’ve learned!!

  • write stuff down!!!! i know it is the most obvious thing, but writing down anything you need to remember, whether that be homework, tests, quizzes, events, due dates, reminders…anything! checking off these things at night is so satisfying and you won’t forget anything important. when i’m in the #zone, my mind often thinks of stupid questions/thoughts. I’ll jot these questions/misc. thoughts unrelated to what i’m focusing on to come back to later and explore!! (for example, i was doing an frq for econ and i thought of doing this post, so i wrote it down in my journal.)
  • organization. there are so many masterposts out there to help you with organization. my method included binders & comp. notebooks.. that’s about it! i’m not very organized
  • get to know teachers. this is probably what helped a lot my junior year. not only is maintaining good relationships with teachers good for you, it can be beneficial to your grade as well. when you make friends with teachers you always have someone to talk/rant to & they always give you the inside gossip about teachers/other students. have coffee/lunch w them, or talk about theories from the class they teach. they give you a lot of perspectives on the course and cool ideas!
  • manage your time. again, another broad statement. but what i did every night kept me sane. my schedule every day after classes (including saturday) was:
    • practice until 5
    • extracurriculars until dinner (6:30-7)
    • minimal homework until done (usually 1-2 hours)
    • study for 1+ hours if needed (8-9 pm)
    • enjoyment time (at least 30 min)

while this may not be a lot for most people, it was a lot for me and i needed time to make myself happy. school and friends make me happy, but so does alone time. putting this minimum of 30 min a day (if i don’t fall asleep before that) really helped me get through demanding courses because i had an incentive. this schedule also helped me avoid procrastination!! ALSO, I prioritized like hell. Honestly, if homework was a completion grade, I wouldn’t try at all unless i needed the practice. Same goes with classes. the ones i had high A’s in, i would sometimes sacrifice a homework grade in order to get enough sleep or study for another test. while this is not the most ethical way of doing it, it helped.

  • Avoid procrastination. procrastination is your worst enemy. I used to be so bad, but now i’m getting better. this is key. in order to beat procrastination, you have to have self discipline. simple as that. get inspired. for many of you, it’s your studyblr community, for me it was for personal pride and competition. you must execute to get the job done. it will be worth it in the end.
  • do the little things. put away the phone. put music on if it helps. stretch a little. get some water. get as content and comfortable as you can when you study.
  • SLEEP!!!! that’s all i can say. sleep sleep sleep. it’s important. i know life is busy, but make time for sleep if you can. mental illness is a bitch, and sometimes it can make falling asleep hard. i know. just try your best & that’s enough. anytime i had free time during the day, i slept. nothing is more important than sleep, and if i didn’t get at least 8 hours of sleep the night before, i tried to catch up as best as i could. your brain needs a break to refuel and you will feel refreshed the next day.
  • Eating healthy. i rarely see this tip around (maybe i’m not searching hard enough) but i think it’s important. eating healthy is excellent for your brain function & body function. it’s hard, especially in college, to have to motivation (or money) to make your own dinner, lunch & breakfast everyday. but. it’s. worth. it. i can’t stress this enough. i feel more awake and energized at school and workouts and your body has to have these nutrients to keep functioning well.
  • Exercise. gross i know, please don’t hurt me, but exercise goes right with eating healthy. the better you feel about yourself, the better you will do in school. simple enough. you will have more motivation, energy, and happiness with a good diet and exercise. running daily and occasionally swimming gets me though the week, and while sometimes i don’t want to workout, i always feel good in the end. find something you like doing and stick to it. try to work out 3 times a week. after every workout, i am always motivated to study
  • UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. it’s so obvious, but so many people just memorize. while you have to memorize any new thing you learn in the beginning, there is a time when you must apply what you memorized. you must actually think about why this term/concept is what it is based on memorized facts. you must see the whole picture and how little things relate and why they do. last year i realized this and it worked wonders. for me, if i understood the big picture, i knew the facts by heart. it dawned on me that you must train the mind to think. when going through notes, quizzes, tests, and studying i always asked myself why is this important and what it relates to. retention. is. key. understanding, and not memorizing facts will help so so much!!
  • STUDY BUDDIES. i can’t stress enough how much this helped me. coming from a boarding school, it’s easy to work on homework with friends all the time. to review for a test, my friends in the class would all meet and discuss the material. i’m an auditory learner, so this worked 10x better. what i’ve learned is that if you can teach it, you know it. when i could explain concepts to my friends, i knew i didn’t have to study that. if questions came up when i was trying to discuss my line of thinking, i revisited my notes and tried to understand why i didn’t get it. if we had study guides, we would all do the question and discuss why we got our answers after. for me, discussion is the best way to get new perspectives and ideas as well as understanding the topic better. (i also love talking so).
  • ask questions. even if its stupid. even if you’re just curious. always ask them.
  • study environment. outside (if it wasn’t terrible weather) is where i love to study with friends. if it is snowing or raining, i go to the library or a local coffee shop. it really just depends on my mood. find an area where you feel the most productive!

Small tips that make a (healthier) difference

Hey you! I dare you to try your best to follow this checklist tomorrow! But hey! Not so fast. Why not try it again the next day (and every day after that)? Sometimes it’s the smaller changes that can in fact help improve our health and wellbeing, especially when we think we’re short of time. School stressing you out? Everything is going to be ok. Try a few little things here. Tick everything off that you completed! Tell me how it goes for you!

This was a spontaneous post and I’ve found that I’ve been making errors in my posts recently! Plz correct me bc I am an egg. Hope u like it anyway.

Morning:

  • Wake up as soon as you do naturally or when your alarm goes off. Make your bed! Open the blinds!
  • Get out of bed and s t r e t c h – all the way from the very tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. (Trust me, this feels good)
  • Set your intention for the day. This might be weird for some, but try it. Example: Today I will be productive. I will be focused on my tasks and I will take the time to relax when needed. It doesn’t have to be as complicated – Example 2: I can do this. Remind yourself again.
  • Eat breakfast. A MUST. Try my favourite: eggs (poached, scrambled or fried) on toast with avocado or baked beans. Yes. We are on a roll today.
  • Drink one full glass of water within the hour of waking (don’t down it all in one go though!).
    • Add 1/8 of a lemon to this. Lemon is great to alkalise the body and getting that digestive system of yours goin! This will flush out toxins in the body and support your immune system too!
      • Side note: Wait half an hour before brushing your teeth after this (or maybe do it before) because lemons are acidic after all and can probably do some damage to your shiny whites.
  • Try having a water bottle by your bedside and beside you throughout the day as a constant reminder to drink water as you see it. Trust me, this has helped improve my water intake a lot.
  • Organise your day. What are your plans? What are of priority and what are not? Try brain dumping this, and then organising each task/item into a list, categorised in importance. This will help decrease stress throughout the day and easy referral back to this list.
  • Dress in some lovely clothes! Your fave sweater and some cool black tights? 100%!! What about that pretty skirt you like with a nice top? HECK YEAH!!!

Midday:

  • Lunchtime! Eat again. Wholesome foods are an absolute must whenever you can.
  • Aim for 3-4 cups of water by lunchtime (inclusive of the glass of lemon water you had this morning).
  • Remember that intention you set this morning? Say it again.
  • Throw a compliment at someone. Be genuine. This will have a butterfly effect. If someone throws one at you to – don’t disagree! Say thank you. You rock, don’t doubt that.
  • Are there any ticks beside those tasks on your checklist from this morning? I hope so!
  • Throw in a random burst of exercise! In public too – who cares! Pick one of these: 50 starjumps! 3 sets of 10 squats! A quick walk around outdoors!

Arvo (/Afternoon… Straya):

  • Hit that 3pm slump? Same. Here are a few ideas to get you going, especially coming home from a long day:
    • NAP! 15-20 mins. No longer. No less. Be strict here or your sleep pattern might go funny and we don’t want that. (And groggy headaches are gross)
    • Exercise! This is so fundamental to our health and wellbeing. Try out short pilates videos (no equipment) here (that as living proof, work) or some really cool yoga videos here, here, and here. Yoga is great. Try this daily. Or take a brisk walk for 30 minutes  = wake up your brain, pick up your mood AND burn some fat. C’mon, go get your shoes!
    • Have a healthy snack, such as those listed in this great post by @tbhstudying. Get your brain and bod going, my friends!
  • Write down your to do list for any work, study or event related things that you need to complete this afternoon. Set out all your equipment, sort out your papers from the day and get organised!
  • Clear your (bedroom/bed/desk/floor/work/closet) space for 5 minutes every day. I’m guessing that you’ve started to pile a few things here like I do. This will save you time and help maintain cleanliness, staving away from the complicated stress that comes from having to reorganise just about everything which we all know to hate when we’re busy with other things.
  • Have you had your 5th and 6th cups of water of the day yet? Get to it!
  • Sit up straighter and you’ll look more confident and feel more confident. Your back will also be very grateful for this.

Night:

  • Continue all your extra to-dos. Get this done. You can do it!
  • Make sure to put something in your body guys. I’m talking food here by the way… don’t let that sentence mislead you! This is especially important for those of you probably thinking “I’ll just eat later” or “I’m not hungry”.  Eat. EAT NOW. PleASE.
  • Spend some quality time with your family. How’s their day been? Tell them about yours too.
  • Glasses of water No. 7, 8 and beyond should be here.
  • Prep your meals, lists, notes, outfits, etc. for the next day. Getting these things sorted now will help you get it out of the way and save you time!
  • Settle down a little. It’s time to wiiiind doooooooownnn. Read a book. Scroll through Tumblr (aaayeee!) – but not too deep into the pits okay guys. Watch a little TV.
  • I know a lot of posts say to switch off 1-2 hours before bed. If you’re literally glued to your electronics, try switching off 5 minutes earlier every day and replace that with something else. What about doing your prep items for the next day (listed two points back!!)? Or, do get those pesky chores out the way.
    • Side note: Cleaning your room often will help freshen it, get rid of itchy dust and decrease the chances of bugs and other smol random things to crawl around your room. (If that’s not a little motivation then I’m not sure what is…). It’ll also keep your space maintained so you don’t have to do it all at once. *Shudders* Plus the likelihood of those gross germs from the world hanging around and building up in there is a no-no.
  • Sleep! 7-8 hours. Your body will thank you for it. CRUCIAL for healthy brain and body function. Plus your mood and skin will improve (i.e. gOODBYE EYEBAGS and hELLO GLOWING SKIN).
    • Side note: I see you reading this at 12am when you should be sleeping. I see you.

I hope this has helped you guys a little or at least inspired you to make a small change to your daily routine! Try doing a few items here (e.g. glass of lemon water, sitting up straighter, 8+ cups of water) and record this on a habit tracker! The smallest changes often have the greatest effects!

Don’t forget to let me know how you go.

My Dearest Harry,

Happy Birthday!!!! I’ve set an alarm for 8:30, and if you haven’t fire-called me by then I’m side alonging Rose over to scold you. Today took some serious planning, dear, and that boyfriend of yours will never forgive me if you show up late. Wear that green top- it brings out your eyes!

With love,

Hermione Granger-Weasley

Potter-

If you are late this afternoon I will fillet you alive.

Birthday Wishes.

-Draco (I love you. Wear the green top.)

Harry,

Happy 37th, Mate!!! Do us all a favor and get your old arse out of bed before 2, would you? ‘Mione and Draco have been working together, and you know how they get going. She’s in a right fuss, that one. I had to talk her out of sending you a howler this morning, and that was only by… Distracting her, so to speak. As I’m human and understand human emotions, needs, etc., (unlike our crazy robotic lovers), I’ve sent over a coffee and some chocolate frogs to make the ungodly time a little more bearable.

Cheers!

Ron

P.S. Hermione told me to tell you to wear the green top? I don’t give a flying fuck what you wear as long as you and Malfoy manage to keep the clothes firmly on this time.

Harry,

I had to hold mum down, she wanted to bring you breakfast in bed this morning. As much as she loves you, I’m not sure how she would have felt if she walked in on you having a lovely birthday shag with Malfoy against the coffee table. You’re welcome. See you tonight. And, for Merlin’s sake, try to be on time. In the green shirt, or Malfoy will send you straight back. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Ginny P.s. Luna sends her regards and also asked me to tell you that green wards off the hucklefins.

Harry,

I had the strangest dream last night, Harry. I was being chased by a group of wrackspurts, all of them demanding I return their ‘treasure’. I was quite confused by their insistence that I had taken this ‘treasure’ (you know how I feel about stealing, it affects my aura), and I kept spraying lilac essence to ward them off, but to no avail. I asked Ginny if she thought it meant something, but she thinks I may have just had too much to drink last night. What do you think?

Oh yes dear, I almost forgot! Happy Birthday! I do hope you know to be on time, but I’ll try to distract him if you run late. I read last night about some very new potions research that could keep him talking for at least an hour.

Love you, dear.

Luna (Wear green.)

The boy who continues to live,

I’d say congratulations, but you’ve been complimented so many times for merely staying alive that it feels tacky at this point. Draco’s got himself all in knots over tonight’s events, and as much fun as it’s been watching him all flustered, I know that if you manage to screw this up I’ll be the one supplying his alcohol, so I feel I must warn you; If you wish to continue to be the boy who lived, show up on time, and properly dressed, if you can manage. Although, come to think of it, “The boy who fucked up one too many goddamn times” has a ring to it.

-Pansy Parkinson

Harry,

You have always been a son to me, dear. I know it goes without saying, but if I learned anything from the war, it’s that telling people what they mean to you is a privilege, and something we should do as often as we can. So, and I don’t mean to be sappy love, I know you have big plans for tonight, but I simply have to tell you how proud I am of the man you have become. Happy Birthday, dear. (I’ve sent over some breakfast, though Ginny suggested maybe I shouldn’t have. Terribly sorry if I’ve interrupted anything. Draco’s favorites are in there too, just in case.)

-Molly

Harry!

Happy Birthday, you geezer. The Amazon is great, as promised, if a little hot for my taste. I’m sorry to be missing your evening tonight- there truly isn’t anything for it. They want me back at the University this Thursday, and I’ve got very little besides a sunburn to show for my time out here. Personally, I think they’ve been a little outrageous with the timing; researching Amazonian werewolf roots and ancient cures isn’t exactly a picnic, you know.

Enough complaining. How’ve you been? How’s Draco? Have you finally bucked up and popped the question? I assume not; someone would have owled, I’m sure. You really ought to do it soon, Harry. If you don’t, he will, and you know how terribly dramatic he is. Just think on it. Send my love to Grandma, would you? I miss her terribly. Oh, and you can have some too, of course.

-Teddy Lupin

Uncle Harry,

I know you aren’t awake yet. You are never awake before noon. Which is why, in approximately 28 minutes, if you don’t firecall mum (which you won’t) to tell her you’re getting ready, (which you aren’t), I’m coming over there myself to talk some sense into you.

You do realize how important today is? Happy Birthday. I’ll see you in precisely 27 minutes.

-Rose Granger-Weasley Future Minister for Magic

Uncle Harry,

Please be awake when Rose gets to your place, she’s in a scary mood this morning. Happy Birthday, and best of luck, because Mum isn’t much better by the looks of it.

-Hugo

Harry

Happy Birthday. I know you are prone to sleeping in, but Draco has been particularly high-strung about this evening and I would really encourage your punctuality this once. I will, unfortunately, be quite busy this evening, but I look forward to seeing you soon. Tea at the manor Wednesday, perhaps? Talk to Draco and get back to me. Oh, and you do look so ever lovely in green. Regards,

This is my all-time favourite series - you should be downloading it right now… unless you’ve already heard it in which case you should definitely treat yourself and listen to it again.

Informational

  • Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History - As the title implies, this is really hardcore history. Episodes are exceedingly well-researched and is surprisingly easy to listen to considering the density of the subject matter.
  • Lore - A podcast examining myths and folktales alongside the true dark stories that either inspired or arose from them. A chilling listen that also has a TV show in the works.
  • Myths and Legends - Re-tellings of both popular and obscure legends that make them very accessible to a modern audience (i.e. people like me who DON’T read Beowulf in it’s original Old English for fun in their free time).
  • Sleep With Me* - Honestly, I have no idea what this podcast is actually about because Ackerman’s ramblings are so soothing I’m usually asleep shortly after turning it on. If you have insomnia and problems falling asleep to silence (like myself), this is a must-download - it’s more engaging that rain/wave/whale noises but you don’t have to worry about missing anything.

Literature

  • Escape Pod - Every episode consists of a sci-fi short story from a variety of sub-genres, and they are generally 30-60 minutes in length. If you enjoy Escape Pod, also check out their fantasy (PodCastle) and horror (PseudoPod) podcasts.
  • The NoSleep Podcast - Narrations of short horror stories posted to the NoSleep reddit board. It’s featured horror stories for every squick and trigger imaginable so be careful with this one if you aren’t into hardcore horror, and definitely heed the warnings at the beginnings of episodes.

True Crime

  • Serial - I don’t think it’s possible to be a podcast fan and not have (at the very least) heard about Serial. If you haven’t listened to it yet, definitely give it a go - there’s a reason it was at the top of the (Canadian) iTunes store for close to a year. It’s produced by ‘This American Life’, which is another professionally-produced podcast worthy of downloading.
  • Someone Knows Something - A series produced by CBC that examines unsolved cases of missing or murdered individuals.
  • Thin Air Podcast - Two English majors investigate cold cases by examining evidence and interviewing people involved with the original investigation.

Pending - I either haven’t started these or haven’t listened to enough to categorize them, but most have been rec’d by multiple sources so check them out!

  • A New Winter - A first-hand account of the unsolved murders and disappearances of 25 people in a small UK village.
  • The Cleansed: A Post-Apocalyptic Saga - (audio drama - sci-fi) An epic post-apocalyptic saga set in a world ravaged by fossil fuel scarcity.
  • Greater Boston - An audio drama set in Boston that blends the real and the unreal, the historical and the fantastical.
  • Hadron Gospel Hour - (audio drama - sci-fi)A sci-fi comedy/adventure following a duo of scientists stranded ouside of spacetime in the Hadron Bunker.
  • Jim Robbie and the Wanderers - (audio drama - sci-fi) Follows two female musicians travelling surreal America with their robot companion, Jim Robbie.
  • Monster Talk - (informational) Examines the science behind cryptozoological and legendary monsters.
  • The Night Blogger - (audio drama - paranormal) It appears to follow blogger Brian Foster’s encounters with the paranormal.
  • Our Fair City - (audio drama - sci-fi) A campy (their words), post-apocalyptic audio drama.
  • Pete’s Paranormal Chronicles -  (audio drama) In 1996, Pete Schwartz began work on a documentary series called Pete’s Paranormal Chronicles, but his sanity began to unravel during the production of the program and he became completely immersed in a nationwide conspiracy.
  • The Twilight World of Ultimate Smoothness - A podcast chronicling the decline and fall of radio veteran Greg Willis. It is a 6-part mini-series.
  • Ruby: The Adventures of a Galactic Gumshoe -  (audio drama) Ruby is a hip, tough-talking detective hired to track down the malefactors who are manipulating the media on the planet Summa Nulla (the “high point of nothing”).
  • Unexplained - (informational) A podcast about strange and mysterious real-life events that continue to evade explanation.

As always, if there’s a podcast you like that’s missing from this list, please drop me a line (message, ask, fan mail, raven, etc. etc.) and I’ll check it out! I’ll also be adding a podcast link to my blog featuring this list with updates. Enjoy~

Try to get rid of me in an overseas big city? We'll get rid of you instead.

(long story. tl;dr at the end)

Context:

Back in 2011 me and my immediate family traveled to Saudia Arabia for Umrah, or what’s known as the lesser pilgramage. You visit Makkah, make rounds around the Kaabah, pray with all your heart and soul, you get the picture. My dad and I were excited because we were all about going on a spiritual journey and casting away the problems of the world - but as it turns out, some problems just wouldn’t leave us.

As soon as we landed in Jeddah’s airport, our plan was to take a taxi to Makkah and get the Umrah done while we were still gung-ho about God. However, we were instead diverted to our relatives’ house in Jeddah, where we discovered that 4 or 5 of my mothers’ relatives and their families had gathered up and spontaneously crashed in my grandfather’s house for one giant family reunion. Naturally, my dad and I, as well as my maternal grandfather, were really upset over this development as my mom’s side of the family is full of … for the lack of a more polite word, the shady folks. Most of them I was on good terms with, but once I realized that my least favorite Uncle and Aunt had come with the crew, my enthusiasm just deflated like a balloon.

when de-stress? we all have those moments when we are exhausted with work but at the same time also overwhelmed and stressed about the rest of the work we got to do. specifically at this time, it’s does good to take a step back and just let go of your worries till the time you start on work again - it’s time to de-stress my folks :’)
      - i bring you a list of things which will help you calm your mind and take control of yourself; let’s begin!!

to calm down your mind after a stressful day

  • cuddle with pets (or better, with stuffies!!)
  • got those 8 hours of sleep? If not, jump in to take a nap!
  • meditate, at least for 5-10 minutes - take control of your mind
  • drink lots and lots of water!! (doesn’t help you to de-stress in real sense, but helps you feel a lot better)
  • listen to some calming music (rain sounds, ambient music whatever suits your taste!)
  • or blast out pop music and dance around to release tension
  • workout till you’re sore. don’t stop. (this helps I swear, bc you just feel really tired to even worry)
  • talking to fam or friends (or me!!) about what’s stressing you out
  • live in the moment. stop worrying about things on which you don’t have control on and about future work. what’s going to come will come; it doesn’t do good to worry about them.

some calming things to do

  • try making a beautiful new bullet journal spread; put a lot of effort in it
  • maybe paint? draw? (personally, drawing flowers help me relax)
  • eat your comfort food; cook it yourself too
  • do a bit of reading out of your favourite book (we the #nerds)
  • close your eyes and think about happy moments and nothing else
  • practice something which takes patience like calligraphy, sewing or just planting a sapling
  • have cake and chocolate or sweet stuff bc sweet things are amazing always
  • self care!! my personal favourite!! put on that face mask, listen to your favourite music and take a long long bath using bath bombs!! such royalty haha
  • drink hot chocolate or green tea :’) no coffee though, pals
  • become a child. notice the small things - they’ll give you much more joy than fancy parties and pricey things will do (e.g. sing nursery rhymes, play hide and seek, go out in the sunshine and get an ice - the list goes on!)
  • watch nice YouTube videos!! hint: routine videos specially night ones are wonderful to watch and are always super relaxing!!
  • call over some friends, have a sleepover and giggle about stupid things (e.g. my sister and I are the absolute riots, we were giggling about nursery rhymes the other day; she’s like twiiinkhle twiiinkhle luly staryyy; basically messing up the lyrics - lowkey cracked me up hahaha)
  • sometimes though, just starting on the work that you had been procrastinating on will help you relax bc you are getting work done
  • lastly, sTOP worrying and stressing!! stressing about stupid things is the main reason why you feel overwhelmed; so stop fam!!

have a wonderful day, love!! I hope this list helped you in some way!! :-)

go check out my other masterposts here and you can always sent in a request for a masterpost as my ask box is always open!! (´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡

So you’re in a magickal funk. You haven’t done a spell in months, and let’s face it, you’re already exhausted, but the thought of not dedicating any time to your practice is stressing you out more than you’d like. There’s nothing major going on in your life right now that warrants the energy to do a spell or ritual so you’re stuck thinking “why bother?”

This has been the case with me on more than one occasion, especially lately. I’m sitting here thinking…”man, I learned all of this stuff, had a lot of success and a few failures; I want to do magick but I just…can’t.” I work too much. I’ve got a lot on my mind. Nothing about raising energy and putting it to rest sounds appealing because all I really want to do is sleep.

I’m sure some of you have read my “Passive Magick” series; if not, here is part I and part II; but what happens if you don’t even have the time or energy to do some of the most basic things I mentioned in those posts (like clean house, cook dinner, or even take a shower)?

Since this is a personal struggle that I’m sure many of you also face, I’ve had to think long and hard about how I can practice magick in a minimalistic way without giving up all together, so here is what I’ve come up with.

  • Think of all the reasons why you’ve become unmotivated or uninterested in your practice, and make a list. If you don’t feel like busting out a pen and paper, use the memo pad on your phone. It’ll take 5 minutes at the very most. For me, it’s got a lot to do with work, stress from work, being tired, adulthood in general, personal relationships, and overall worry about the people I love (gotta love being an empath).
  • Alright, you’ve made a short and simple list of all of the stressors in your life, which might have stressed you out more than you already were, but let’s move on.
  • This next part sounds simple but might end up being a little more complicated than you think - it’s okay, stick with it: make some notes on your list about how to improve those situations, or simply jot down the opposite of what’s going on. For example, I might not be so tired all the time if I got a good night’s sleep - it doesn’t always help, but it might if I actually tried, who knows. I might have an easier time at work if my communication skills were up to par, and if I knew how to handle stress without getting overwhelmed. Home stress may be relieved if I was better organized as far as like, paying my bills early and trying to save money. I might worry less about my family if I visited with them more. You get the idea. Next…
  • So basically, by listing ideas to combat your stressors, you’ve inadvertently come up with ideas for spells to help you along the way. For me, this entails…
    • an anti-stress spell
    • a communication spell (for both work and interpersonal relationships)
    • a sleep spell (preferably one where I have no dreams)
    • an organization spell
    • a motivation spell
  • You get the picture, I’m sure.
  • Okay, so now…. you have to do the spells. Ugh. Even the thought of doing such a thing wears me out, but let’s entertain the idea of putting together a multipurpose spell jar. You can easily figure out the correspondences for things like better communication, better sleep, relieving stress, and staying motivated. You might even know a few correspondences off hand so you don’t have to do too much digging for information.
  • At this point, head over to your spice cabinet, kitchen pantry, craft drawer, or whatever and gather some supplies. Don’t even bother trying to go buy new stuff. Use what you already have, and try not to choose multiple ingredients for the same intent. Just pick one, it’ll make your life easier.
  • Now, anyone who has ever made a spell jar before knows the process of stating your intent as you add your ingredients to the jar. It takes little effort on your part to mumble some words like “ok lavender your job is to keep me relaxed and relieve my stress.” Do this with each ingredient and bam, done. Seal the jar and…then what?
  • Well, what about timing the spell? That part is up to you: you might choose to utilize a certain phase of the moon, or you might not even care to wait until a particular lunar phase because you don’t give two hoots about the moon, at all. Maybe you choose to do the spell at night because for the first time all day, you’re somewhat relaxed. Once again, that’s totally fine.
  • Okay…but I have to charge this stupid jar somehow. Well, you can lightly channel energy from external sources to power your spell so you don’t tire yourself out and lose motivation before you even begin. Craft a super simple sigil that states “this spell jar is charged and activated” or write that sentence on paper and set your spell jar on top of it. Draw a picture of a constellation or rune that corresponds to power or enchanting and set the jar on top of that. Stick a piece of quartz on top of the jar. Add a little sea salt water to the jar (it’s a natural conductor of electricity and energy). There are lots of easy ways to charge your jar. Done and done.
  • Alright, my spell jar is made and charged so…now what do I do?? Remember that mundane effort is just as important when it comes to magickal workings. Buy a planner to keep you organized, or open the calendar app on your phone and mark important dates. If you know you need at least 8 hours of sleep to feel energized, then don’t wait until 2am to lay down in bed. If communication is an issue, then actually try to talk to people and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it, especially in the workplace.
  • These are just examples that mostly cater to my specific and personal situations, but you can easily modify these ideas to suit your needs. One good spell may be just the thing you need to kickstart your practice again, and this method is simple and straightforward enough that pretty much anyone can do it, even on your worst days.

Good luck. 🔮✨

You’re the One (Daveed x Reader)

“D!” You yelled as soon as you heard the apartment door open.

“What?” Daveed went into the kitchen, rifling around in the fridge for something to eat.

“You didn’t tell me you were going to be on Sesame Street!”

“I guess I forgot? I don’t know, I’ve been busy.” He plopped down next to you and handed you a beer, sighing. He looked tired.

“Mary!” Dean shouted “Breakfast’s ready, come on!” he said loud enough, hoping the little girl was going to hear him.

“Yes daddy!” she said in her childlike voice as she ran down the stairs. Her brown curls were bouncing as her green eyes sparkled with happiness the moment she spotted the food that lay on the table.

“Pie!” she exclaimed and the man chuckled at the girl.

“Yes princess!” he placed the last pancake on the place and put the frying pan away. He leaned down and picked her up, giving her a big kiss on the cheek as the little girl giggled at him.

“And it’s your favorite!” he said with a big grin and she squealed.

“Apple pie!”

“-Which you are not going to have for breakfast.” you said with a strict – but loving – mom look.

“What?” she pouted “Why?”

“Sweetheart.” you said softly, taking her from Dean’s arms “Pie is not right for breakfast and you know it. We’ve said you can have pie whenever you want to- as a treat. You will have to eat your meal first.” you said, tucking a few brown curls behind her ear.

“But daddy eats pie all the time- even for breakfast and you let him. Why can’t I?” the four-year-old gave you those puppy eyes that could actually do you anything they wanted.

Baby, come on.

Those first few hours of freedom were absolute bliss! Flying down the highway with the windows down, music blasting as you sang at the top of your lungs. It was everything you had dreamed of. You did it. You were out. You had quit your job, cashed out your life savings, bought a cheap but reliable car, and hit the road without looking back.

All was going according to plan. That is, until 4 hours later your car started to smoke and sputter, compelling you to pull to the side of the road for fear of dying in a ball of fire. There wasn’t anything you could do at the moment, what with it being 2am at the time. Thankfully, it was the middle of summer so sleeping in your car wasn’t too uncomfortable, at least at night.

Studying with Mental Illness: Self-Care
  • Eating and Drinking:
Make sure you eat food, and drink water regularly. Carry a water bottle everywhere you go if it helps. I always have a water bottle, and something I can snack on in my bag, because I tend to forget otherwise. Eat healthy foods where you can, but honestly, something is better than nothing. Take the time to eat, and drink. Nutrition and hydration is important for fueling your body and will help you focus, and stay focused.

  • Taking breaks:
These are necessary. It doesn’t have to be long, but you should aim to take at least five minutes every hour, and some longer ones here and there. It can be hard to stay focused, and you can burn yourself out easily if you try and study for hours on end, day after day. Listen to your needs. Getting a headache? Take a short break.

  • Mental Health Days:
We’ve all had those days where we’ve had good intentions to write notes on some chapters, maybe work on an assignment, read a chapter in the text book, or whatever, only to wake up, and feel like our mental illness is getting the better of us, and study just isn’t on your radar. It’s okay to take a day off to do something mindless, or enjoyable, or relaxing. It’s important to take these days when we need too. Don’t feel ashamed to take a day off for your mental health.

  • Socialising:
Go to that party, catch up with that friend for coffee, Skype with that friend, catch up with your dash board, or Facebook news feed, whatever it is, it’s okay to do those things. Just as long as you don’t always do those things. Not letting yourself do those things, especially when you’ve been struggling with mental illness and motivation to study, and you take your socialising away from yourself entirely as punishment, can contribute to the cycle of not studying. Find a balance that works for you.

  • Talk to someone:
A therapist, a friend, a significant other, sibling, parent, teacher, whoever. If you trust them, and ask if it’s okay to talk to them about things that are bothering you/going on for you, then you should talk to them. Talking about things can really help you to start working through things one by one when it all seems overwhelming, and upsetting. Also, don’t be afraid to let your teachers/professors know that you are going through difficult times. Utilise the programs and resources your school/college/university has to offer. Ask for that extension if you need it.

  • Exercise/Stretching:
It’s good to not only have a regular routine for your overall physical health, and fitness, but during your study sessions, it’s also good to get up, and move around, and do some stretches every once in a while. Just like with taking breaks, you can use those break times to incorporate some movement. Get up, walk around the house, stretch, do some star jumps (I think some people call them jumping jacks???). I am terrible with exercise regimes. I am working on trying to include walking around the block, weights and resistance, and other things into my week, because I know that exercise is supposed to help with focus, and my overall physical health. And it’s supposed to help with mental health too.

  • Sleep:
Get some sleep, and get some good sleep! 7-9 hours of good quality sleep per night, is ideal for most people. Know yourself, and how much sleep you need. I personally need about 8 hours, anything less and I struggle. Sleep can be hard if you’re struggling with insomnia (I do) but giving yourself as much opportunity to sleep as possible (within reason), will really help. Also, taking naps during the day can really be helpful. I often take short naps when I get home from classes, because I find it helps me to consolidate the knowledge better, and revitalises my body, and my mind for me to continue with my day, as classes take a lot out of me mentally, and physically. Don’t stay up all night, you’re better off getting some sleep earlier, and getting up earlier. And take naps if you need too!

  • Be fair to yourself:
This is really important. Know your needs, and treat yourself fairly. Even if you don’t get everything done that you wanted, even if you had to take a mental health day when you have so much to do, it’s okay. Your feelings are valid, and you are not weak/worthless/incompetent/insert other self-hating statement here. You’ve done so well to accomplish what you have managed today. You are amazing.

This is the last post to my post series Studying with Mental Illness:  Some Ideas for Studying, Motivation, and Self-care. Here can find my general post, studying post, and motivation post. Thank you for reading. I know these ideas won’t work for everyone, but I hope that they might be useful to someone. Take care.
how to survive final exams

an informational masterpost by @briellestudies

study tips

- you remember material better if you physically interact with it as opposed to just scanning it over with your eyes

  • instead of merely reading a page of notes, go through it with a pen/highlighter in your hand. underline/circle/annotate things as you review the material

- make a study schedule. include which days you want to study for each subject, deadlines (e.g. “finish essay by tuesday”, “study guide for physics should be done today”), any study sessions you might have with others, and time for sleep

  • finals season often overwhelms students because of the sheer amount of work facing them. by breaking things down into a schedule and focusing on smaller portions of work day-by-day, things appear much more manageable

- use mnemonic devices to help you remember things (when applicable)

  • i like to use them for memorizing groups/orders of things - for example, when i took a class on dinosaurs, i had a lot of trouble keeping the paleozoic/mesozoic/cenozoic and triassic/jurassic/cretaceous orders straight until i realized that both were in reverse-alphabetical order

- different study methods work better for different classes

  • flashcards are best for classes where you have to memorize lots of information (without providing further explanation), e.g. introductory psychology
  • mind maps are good for organizing thoughts and seeing how ideas fit together, e.g. english and literature classes
  • practice problems/practice tests are usually the best way to prepare for STEM classes, e.g. math and chemistry

optimizing your performance/productivity

- try to get some sleep. try.

  • you probably won’t be getting your full 7-8 hours during finals season. fine. completely understandable. but a couple hours here and there throughout the day will do wonders. your brain doesn’t work at optimum levels when you’re sleep-deprived, so while you may not have time for solid 8-hour blocks of sleep, it’s in your best interests to get 1-2 hour powers naps in when you can. aim for at least 4-6 hours of total sleep time per day

- finals week is not the time for junk food. if you’re going to push your body to its physical and mental limit (as so many of us do), you’d better make damn sure you’re at least giving it the best possible fuel to run on

- you should be aware of your study habits by finals season. take them into account and use them to your advantage

  • more productive in the morning? set an early alarm and get yo ass up
  • procrastinate a lot? bitch me too!! it’s not necessarily a bad thing - some people do their best work under time pressure. try this thing i like to call “productive procrastination”: if you wanna procrastinate on something, do so by working on another assignment/studying for another class. this way, you fulfill your desire to procrastinate but you’re still being productive and not completely fucking yourself over
  • more productive when working with others? try to organize study sessions (or you’re the opposite like me and prefer to study alone, don’t feel guilty about declining requests to work with friends/classmates)

- there’s an app called “self control” that blacklists or whitelists websites for a given amount of time (that you set yourself). it forces you to stay focused if you can’t help but peek on social media sites every so often when working on your laptop

- prioritize! know which finals will require the most effort on your part and plan accordingly

  • give more priority to finals that are worth a higher percentage of your overall grade
  • calculate the minimum score you need on the final that’ll still get you the overall grade you’re aiming for - generally, you should be spending more study time on finals that you’ll need a higher grade on

test taking tips

- if you finish with extra time, go through your test again and attempt to answer every question you left blank (unless you’re penalized for guessing, of course). the potential for partial credit is better than definitely receiving no credit

  • for multiple choice, use process of elimination and then make your best guess
  • if you don’t know the answer to a short answer/essay-style question, then answer around it. for example, if you don’t know the significance of caliban’s soliloquy in shakespeare’s the tempest, talk about the character of caliban in general and/or the role soliloquies are meant to play in shakespeare’s works
  • if you’re stuck on a math problem and have no clue how to even begin, just start manipulating numbers and applying formulas

- dress in layers so you’re comfortable no matter the room temperature

- always answer the questions you’re sure of first

- don’t be afraid to ask the proctor if you’re unsure of what something on the test is asking of you (i.e. questions for clarification)

- pay attention to the questions on the exam - sometimes one question may hint at the answer to a different question

  • e.g. 2) what year was x fossil discovered? and 31) who discovered x fossil in the early 1930s?

miscellaneous advice

  • try to get everything you need (calculator batteries, scantrons, blue books, writing utensils, etc.) the weekend before exams start. this way, you’re not freaking out right before a test because you’re missing something
  • try to time your coffee/lack of sleep crashes such that they don’t happen during a final exam (see tip about scheduling above)
  • if you’re pulling an all-nighter, set alarms periodically throughout the night (e.g. every hour and a half) so that if you accidentally fall asleep, you won’t sleep through the whole night
  • also set an alarm 20-30 minutes before each final. just in case ;)
  • bring an extension cord to the library if your school always seems to be short on outlets during finals week
  • always use the bathroom right before sitting an exam (even if you don’t feel like you really need to) to avoid getting up and wasting time during the test itself
  • turn off your motherfucking cell phone before your tests omfg

a note on adderall, a popular “study drug” students take during finals season:

i personally advise against the use of any study drugs that are not prescribed by a medical professional, but the fact of the matter is that students are going to use them regardless of what i say. when they don’t know what they’re getting into, they put themselves into very dangerous positions - often ending in trips to the emergency room or rehab. so in the interest of promoting safety (well, as much safety as is possible given the circumstances) and knowledge, here are a few things you should know about adderall if you decide you want to use it:

  • addy is very addictive and can make the user dependent on it
  • if you take it, you’ll start to sweat. a lot. dress accordingly
  • addy will make you lose your appetite. don’t listen to your body when it says it’s not hungry. you gotta force yourself to eat bruh
  • it’s also really easy to get dehydrated on addy - not only do you sweat a lot, but lots of people tend to pee a fuck ton while they’re on it. stay hydrated
  • addy is a stimulant. you won’t be able to sleep until its effects wear off
    • and just like other stimulants (e.g. caffeine, ecstasy), you will experience a “crash” afterwards. the crash is more pronounced than one you would get from coffee or even caffeine pills
  • there are two “kinds” of addy: IR and XR
    • IR means “immediate/instant release” - whatever dose you take will be released into your system all at once
    • XR means “extended release” - there will be an initial release of the drug into your system and then small amounts thereafter over an extended period of time
  • always err on the side of caution with dangerous drugs - when in doubt, start with a lower dose

as a parting note, i would just like to remind you all to keep in mind the importance of self-care and finding balance. there is a fine line between making temporary sacrifices and being self-destructive. sometimes it’s good to push yourself - “no pain, no gain” as they always say. but analogously, you also gotta recognize when it’s time to dial it back a bit - allow yourself a nap or an hour break to grab dinner with some friends every once in a while. trust me, you deserve it. good luck!

Chapter Notes: I’m so sorry for the delay on this one! As you might imagine, this chapter had a bit riding on it, emotionally speaking, and I wanted to be sure I got it right. Big thanks to @thuriweaver for helping me out and providing a critical sounding board each time I wrote myself into a corner!

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

It was early the next evening before Virgil could bring himself to face the other sides again.

That night had been easily one of the most miserable of his life. After taking apart the doll and stealthily returning the pilfered articles of clothing, he’d retreated to his room and locked his door, then crawled into his bed. As he’d feared, it felt huge and far too empty, and he found himself shivering, unaccountably cold. He realized he’d gotten used to having the warmth of the heating pad cradled to his chest as he embraced the pillow.

He briefly considered recommissioning the heating pad by itself, but quickly dismissed the idea. It…hurt, somehow: the thought of using part of the doll only. It was stupid, he knew it was stupid, but he found himself almost mourning the thing, like it’d been a friend or something, and he couldn’t bear to think about trying to create a substitute.

Besides which, he shouldn’t need one. He should never have needed the doll in the first place. It was that kind of weakness that made the others hate him so much, and if he ever wanted to be someone they could respect (or at least someone they didn’t despise), he needed to stop being so pathetic.

So he’d huddled up in bed, shivering under the layers of blankets he’d piled on instead, trying not to give in to the fear that was creeping around the edges of his thoughts.

Part 1 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5Masterlist

As you woke up you noticed you weren’t in your bed. You saw that Taehyung was sleeping right next to you. You blushed just thinking about last night. The time that you spent together was special.

You felt him stretch next to you sending him awake. “Morning.” He yawned but then he snapped to reality.

“I slept here?” He panicked. “Did your parents come home?”

“I don’t know.” You said getting up.

You noticed the cable box said 8 o'clock. You made your way to the kitchen when you noticed your mother starting to cook. “Mom?”

“Hey dear.” Your mother continued cooking. “What time did you get home last night?”

“Around one.” Your mother looked past you as she saw Taehyung sneak up from behind.

“Excuse me ma'am.” He bowed. “I’m so sorry that I fell asleep before you got home.”

“Don’t be son….I wouldn’t want you to drive home so late anyway.” She gently caressed his cheek in respect.

“I guess I’ll be heading home then.” He said.

“Nonsense, stay for breakfast.”

-

After breakfast Taehyung left, he was sweet but didn’t give you much attention, probably because your mother was around. Or at least you hoped. You guys didn’t really get the privacy to talk about last night. You hoped things weren’t going to be awkward now.

-

It’s been one week since you seen Taehyung. Your parents only been out once and you haven’t been out since that night. Your friends had pressured you into going to more parties but you denied, that was an awful experience for you, but at least something came out of it.

You were in your room reading when your mother barged in suddenly.

“Sweetie, something has come up and I need you to watch the kids all weekend.” Your mother said.

“Why?” You asked confused.

“Your father and I have a business trip.” She said it like it was a nuisance.

“Do you mind watching the kids?”

“No I guess not.”

“Please don’t throw any parties or let your friends over….I’m sorry I don’t like them.”

“Okay fine….no fun…got it.” You said sarcastically.

“You can invite Tae over only, if you need help.” Your mother started leaving your room. “We’ll be back Monday morning.”

Funny enough that you can’t throw a party but invite the guy you had sex with while your brother and sister were just sleeping upstairs. Ironic.

It was kind of obvious that your mom approves of Taehyung but you bet she would never expect this.

-

“Okay please don’t burn the house down.” Your father said dead serious.

“I won’t.”

“And remember what I said….nobody over except Tae.” You heart beats when you hear his name.

“Tae can come over?” Dara showed behind you. “Can we have a sleep over?”

“It’s up to your sister….shes in charge.”

Your sister pouted. “No worries Dar….” You winked at her sending her smiling off.

-

“Are you gonna call him?” Your sister has not stopped bugged you about calling Tae for the past hour.

“Yeah it’s already 5, we have to go to bed in like three hours.” Your brother argued.

“Okay calm down.” You grabbed his number from the fridge dialing it in your phone.

Why did you feel so nervous?

“Hello?” He asked on the other side of the line.

“T-Tae? This is (Y/N).” You said nervously.

“Hey.” He said causally.

“My parents are gone for the weekend.” You just realized how that sounds making you stumble over your words. “I- I was wonderi- I mean the kids were wondering if you wanted to sleep over or if you don-”

“I loved to.” You heart fluttered. “I’ll be right over.”

-

You weren’t the best cook so you decided to call for a pizza instead. When you heard the knock on the door, you made sure to grab your wallet and head to the door.

It was earlier then usual from the fact that you only called 15 minutes ago.

When you opened the door you were met with the boy who stole your heart one week ago. You thought you were nervous before, you had no idea what was coming.

“Are you paying for my company?” He smirked as he saw your wallet in your hand. Your stomach exploded with butterflies.

“Wha- oh no I ordered pizza.” You bit your lip.

Taehyung started to brush past you but stopped, leaning into your ear. “Please don’t bite your lip or I won’t be able to control myself.” He whispered and headed towards the living room.

“Fuck.” You whispered to yourself. You were already feeling flustered and he just got here.

-

After you all ate, you were sitting on the couch amused as you watched your little sister tackle Taehyung on the floor. The sight of seeing him around children was sexy.

‘Okay okay clean thoughts.’

“I think it’s getting close to bed time.”

You watched as you saw Dara sit up and groaned. “I don’t want to.”

“It’s 9:30, I already let you stay way past your bed time.”

“Fine.” She got up. “Can Tae read me a bed time story?”

You looked at Tae for permission but your sister was already dragging him towards the stairs.

“Dara you need to ask.”

“It’s fine, I like a lady in charge.” He winked at you.

This boy was going to be the death of you.

You followed upstairs to send your brother to bed, but as soon as you entered his room he was already past out with his video games running. You quietly turned everything off and closed the door.

You passed Dara’s room as you saw Tae acting out some mythical story making her laugh. He was so good around kids.

You went to your room changing into something more comfortable. You figured maybe you and Tae would watch another movie.

“So this is your room?” You jumped from his voice behind you. You saw Tae looking around your room while leaning on the door.

“Your sister falls asleep fast.” He smiled.

He took a few steps walking into your room. “What do we do now?”

You blushed, biting your lip as soon as he looked at you. “I thought I told you not to do that?” At this point he was walking closer to you until he was right in front of you.

“Are you going to punish me?” You asked giving him a slight pout.

“I don’t believe in that.” Your eyes soften. “But…” He smirked.

You gave him your full attention. “I have a better idea.” Before you can even process what he said he smashed his lips with yours. You missed this, one week without his presence was too long.

You responded by wrapping your arms around his neck as soon as he deepened the kiss. He was already pulling your hips towards his as he leaned into you, you couldn’t help but moan, from his tongue exploring every corner of your mouth. He almost seemed desperate, like he missed your touch as well.

The next thing you know Taehyung was slowly moving you towards your bed. When your back hit the sheets he was on top of you moving his lips to your neck, not missing any detail. You could feel the tingles spread throughout your body as he left wet kisses down your neck.

Your breathing became heavier as his hand slid up your shirt, the sensation gave you chills. You could feel the dampness in your shorts as soon as you felt his member poking your thigh through his jeans. You loved how much of an impact you had on him as much as he had on you.

The cold air hit you as he sat up, you groaned from the sudden loss of his warm hands caressing you. You watched as he licked his lips while looking into your eyes. Just then he reached for your shorts waist line, dragging them off until they hit the floor. Your heart was beating rapidly from the sweet tender kisses up your thighs. He didn’t miss a spot as he made his way towards the area you wanted him most. You tilted your head back as his tongue licked up your core.

“Oh fuck-” You moaned from the new feeling. This was your first time that anyone has ever pleasured you like this.

“You gotta be quiet babe.” He whispered.

He continued to move his tongue swiftly through your folds, the pleasure was unbelievable that you just wanted to scream. You scrunched up the sheets under trying to refrain yourself, but Taehyung was making it impossible. You had a feeling his tongue could do incredible things by the way he kissed you but never this.

You were trying not to lift you hips as you could almost feel your climax take hold. “Are you getting close?” He asked.

“Yeah.” You moaned.

You gave him a questioningly look as he suddenly stopped and got up from his position. He laughed at your reaction as he started to strip off his clothes, from his shirt down to his pants. He knew what he was doing by the teasing look he was giving you. “Take off your shirt.” You did as he made his way towards you.

You smiled when he hovered over you, kissing up your chest all the way up to your neck once again. He stopped to look you in the eyes when you wrapped your legs around his waist. He licked his lips again. Damn you hated when he did that but loved it at the same time.

He looked down as he grabbed a hold of his length, slowly sliding into you. You bit your lip trying not to moan from the tight feeling. He started to thrust into you at a steady pace while he kissed you passionately.

You couldn’t contain your moans any longer, you let a few slip out as he rapid the speed hitting your g spot. “I can’t wait to get you alone, then I can really hear you.”

Just his voice was setting you towards your high, you weren’t sure how much longer you can hold back. “Tae….I’m going to cum.”

He took that by kissing you so you wouldn’t make anymore noise. You felt him smile against your lips as you tried to moan when you orgasm came flooding through. He was still moving quickly as you were numb under him. He stopped kissing you but he kept his face aligned with yours gently. He closed his eyes tightly as he let go, filling the tight space with his cum. “You drive me crazy.” He whispered.

You giggled as you watch him lay to the bed next to you. “Your welcome.”

He was leaning over you once more pecking kisses over your cheeks to your nose. Taehyung was something special, he could go from sexy to adorable in the matter of seconds.

“(Y/N)….” He had your attention. “Do you know how beautiful you are?” You blushed from his compliment.

“Do you know how rude you are?”

“What?” He asked confused.

“You can’t be licking your lips all the time or winking at me….its rude.”

“I cant help it.” He smiled.

“You’re a tease.”

“You’re face is a tease.” You laughed at his childish behavior. He slouched to your side once again pulling you into him.

You felt sleepy as his arms were wrapped around you. You cuddled into him more when the sleep took hold.

-

You woke up feeling peaceful when you saw the sunshine peeking through your curtains. You felt Taehyung’s arm wrapped around you. You turned around and noticed he was still sleeping. He’s so cute when he’s sleeping.

You blushed from the idea of waking up to him by your side every morning. It made you feel butterflies in your stomach, but you can’t get carried away nothing was official between you two.

The child in you had you gently poking his face to try to wake him. You giggled watching his face scrunch up. “Tae.” You whispered as you kissed below his ear.

He cutely groaned as he fluttered his eyes open. “What?” He yawned closing his eyes again.

“Wakey wakey.” He opened his eyes again and smiled at your cuteness.

“(Y/N)!!!” You heard Dara yelling as she barged into your room.

“Oh fuck!” You panicked.

You pulled your sheets over your chest as soon as Dara entered, from the fact that you and Tae were still naked underneath.

“Dara! Remember you have to knock before you enter someone else’s room.”

“Sorry I forgot.”

Dara gasped as soon as she noticed Taehyung. “I didn’t know you were having a sleepover together….how come I wasn’t invited?” Your sister pouted.

“Tonight we will make a bed in the living room for all of us okay…now please go wake your brother.” You rushed.

“Okay…” She left.

You jumped out of the bed with the sheet wrapped around you as you closed the door locking it.

“Okay we have 5 minutes.”

Tae smirked when he saw you. “Stop staring and get dressed.” You laughed.

-

The day was full of exhausting activities your siblings put you through. A walk in the park, a trip to the ice cream shop, back to the house watching movies. Your brother wanted to sleep over his best friends house tonight so Dara was the only one to take care of.

It was 7 o'clock and the only movies Dara let you watch was kid movies, so you and Tae were quite bored. Dara was sprawled out on the love seat facing the TV, while you and Tae where on the couch farther back. You slid over to be right next to Tae.

You rested your head on his shoulder as some song the characters were singing was irritating you. You felt Tae place his hand over your knee. Luckily you were wearing leggings unless his touch would affect you. “I thought you were a good boy.” You whispered as he moved his hand further up your leg.

You saw Dara move so you quickly moved Tae’s hand off of you. But she was still hypnotize by the movie as you can see, for all you know she could be sleeping, you couldn’t see her face.

About 10 minutes have passed you wondered how long this dumb movie was. You couldn’t stay focused any longer. Tae’s fingers were tapping against his thigh. You couldn’t help but stare as your eyes wandered to a more inappropriate area. You couldn’t help but noticed the slight bulge in his sweat pants. Was he turned on?

“My eye are up here.” He laughed. You just tapped his chest playfully.

“I was looking at your annoying tapping.”

“Sure.” He smirked. “And to answer your question I’m very turned on right now.” He confessed.

“You’re the rude one, wearing that shirt.” He continued.

“I’m wearing a tank top.” You laughed.

“I can see your bra.” He whispered in your ear. You loved when he did that, it sent chills crawling down your neck.

You looked down and noticed your bra was hanging out. Honestly that wasn’t on purpose. You had this thing forever it’s probably just grown to be too small on you.

“Sorry.” You giggled pulling your shirt up.

Just then your sister got up sleepily, almost like she was sleep walking. “I’m going to bed.” She said and made her way upstairs.

“I’m changing this crap.” You got the remote finding something else on Netflix.

When you sat back down you tried not to pay attention to Taehyung’s tapping once again. Probably something to do with his dirty mind.

You slapped your hand over his to stop his taping. “You bored?”

“No.” He said casually, but you knew he was.

You reached your hand over to where his bulge was still visible. “Your still showing.” You smirked as you starting rubbing the sensitive area. You love seeing him squirm under your touch.

“Do you need help with this?” For some reason Tae has made you more confident, only when its the two of you.

He arched his eyebrows as soon as you got down on your knees in front of him. “Have you ever done this before?” He said nervously. “Because you don’t have to.”

His sweet side showing, he actually cares about your feelings, doesn’t want you to feel pressured in anyway. Not like most guys.

“I owe you from last night.” You started tugging on his pants, only to have his length exposed. You wrapped your hands around his shaft. He was harder then you thought, he was weak when it came to you. Just thinking about it made you blush.

You started to pump his length slowly to tease him. The sexual desire was stirring up inside you. You went in circling your tongue around the tip, while your hands continued pumping.

You watched him lean his head back on the couch moaning quietly. “You sure you haven’t done this.”

You nodded as you took him into your mouth to as low as you can go, while you pumped the rest.

You felt yourself getting wet as you heard him moan. When you brought your head back up you noticed the tip was throbbing. He wasn’t going to last much longer. You wanted the thrill of him releasing in your mouth.

“You like ladies in control?” You teased. He felt his part twitching in your mouth.

“Fuck.” He placed his hand on the back your head to make you move faster. He couldn’t control himself much longer as you felt the salty substances fill your mouth.

You swallowed his liquids as you leaned in to lick him clean. He was still a wreck, breathing heavy as his orgasm was slowly passing.

“You good?” You giggled as you still were licking up the mess.

He looked at you tiredly when you finally pulled his pants back up. “Can I ask you something?”

He got on the ground with you, getting under the covers of the bed you made in the living room.

“Go ahead.” You smiled.

“The sex has been great with you and all, but I was wondering if you wanted to actually go out…like a date?” He looked nervous. How cute.

“Of course.” You tried not to make it seem like you were overly excited.

He smiled and leaned in for a deep kiss. “Ewww. Wash your mouth out.” He pretended to be disgusted but then he laughed.

You hit his shoulder but then pulled his shirt into you making him kiss you again. This time he didn’t pull away. The way he kissed you made you feel like you were in a fairy tale.

-

“Wake up.” You felt a tiny body throw them self between you and Tae waking you up immediately.

“Dara.” You groaned in pain. “Why are you so annoying?”

“Hey sunshine.” Tae smiled at the pain in the ass.

“Mommy and daddy are here.” Dara said looking at you. What? Your mother said that they’d be back Monday morning not Sunday.

You got up to look out the window, you saw your parents grabbing their bags from the trunk of their car. “Why are they early?”

“Maybe something came up.” Tae said hugging you from behind.

“Hey…..I want a hug.” Dara pouted.

“Of course sunshine.” Are you really competing on who gets Taehyung with your sister? Little brat.

You quickly grabbed the blankets from the floor, tossing them in the linen closet before your parents would enter.

Just as your parents entered Dara ran to them, giving each a hug. “Wheres Sungmin?” Your mother asked.

“He asked if he can sleep over Suho’s last night.” Your mothers eyes brightened up when she saw Taehyung greet her.

“Surprised to see you here.” Your mother greeted.

“We had a sleep over.” Dara cheered.

“Really?” You both nodded.

“(Y/N) let Tae sleep in her bed with her.” Dara pouted like she was jealous and your mother and father stared at you both confused.

Oh fuck! We’re busted.

The Avenger-Mom (Bucky x Reader)

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! Thank you for being amazing and beautiful in everything you do!

It’s been forever since I’ve written and I apologize for that.

Thank you all for the love on Notebook! I was shocked to say the least:)

Summary: You’re the ‘mom’ of the team but what happens when you’re not Bucky’s fan?

Word Count: Could this have been written in 2 parts? Sure, but where’s the fun in that?! Just kidding, I didn’t want to stop.. So.. Lord knows…. (I’m so sorry I don’t know I don’t have Word so I can’t count them and I refuse to count them myself because it’s a lot.)

Warnings: Suicide mentions, suicide scene (NO ONE DIES), sad moments tbh, fluff, hugs (A TON OF HUGS), sign language (If that’s even a warning), annoyed Bucky, nightmares, and crying. Dang… It sounds really heavy but go with it.

Please let me know if you liked it! Thank you for reading, I hope you have a good day:)

You’ve been at the Avengers compound for almost 8 months because your cousin Tony requested you after the fallout between himself and none other than Captain America. Luckily between that time, Tony and Natasha have been speaking to Captain and the government finally expunged what James Barnes did while he was under mind-control by writing him off as ‘mentally unstable’.

You rubbed your hands together excitedly as you awaiting the arrival of the other half of the infamous team. To your knowledge they all knew who you were and understood your reasoning to be there for the team.

An Honorary Mother, everyone likes to say.

You’re a very affectionate person, you’ve always loved seeing people smile because of you and enjoyed helping them through issues and were very excited to help the coming members, especially James Barnes. You read his file and couldn’t stop the blush as you looked at all the pictures they had of him. He was incredibly handsome and you knew he needed someone other than Captain America to help.

“Hey, waiting for your new sons and daughters?” Natasha said lightly as she walked over to you at the entrance of the compound. You turn to her and gave her a hug, she laughs quietly and hugs you back before pulling away, “you do know you saw me an hour ago?” She asks with a quirked eyebrow, you shrug and watch the doors.

“Everyone needs hugs, it’s scientifically proven to help you mentally and physically, you know.” You note smiling at her, she rolls her eyes but smiles nonetheless.

“Are you excited to meet them?” She says after a few moments of silence, you nod quickly and look to the door, again rubbing your hands together.

“I hope they like me.” You say quietly looking at the floor briefly as though you’d just confessed to stealing cookies before dinner. Natasha puts an arm around your shoulder, grinning to reassure you.

“Don’t worry, they’ll love you. You’re our adopted mom.” You look at her and smile just as the doors open.

You wait for everyone to come up to you and Natasha, your heart pounding loudly in your ears and you stare up and Captain America and James Barnes, they have at least 8 inches on you. Natasha elbows you lightly and cocks her head towards them.

Captain puts his hand in front of you and smiles brightly, “Hello, my name is Steve Rogers, nice to meet you.” You glance at his hand then his face before hugging him around the waist tightly, he coughs awkwardly and hugs you back gently. You pull away and smile at everyone staring at you with wonder except James Barnes who stares at you with anxious eyes.

“Hi, I’m Y/N Y/L/N.”

You almost have a heart attack when you hear your phone ringing, you look at the id caller expecting it to be Dan but no it is Wanda. This is odd she never calls you “Hey Wan is everything fine?” Your mind goes to the worst scenario possible, afraid that something might have happened to Bucky.
