Tales of Zestiria Third trailer.

Tales of Festival 2014 Day 1 Performance!

Okay, time to try my best to summarize the event before I forget too much!

Here was the schedule:

Opening by Onosaka and Nazuka
Special Skit
Introduction of the VAs
Tales of Magazine poll results
New information corner: Much is revealed about Tales of Zestiria including a new character, battle system details, and the coming of an anime; followed by a trailer for Tales of the World Reve Unitia.
Misono performance
Closing, final worlds from the VAs, t-shirt toss.

Here’s my summary of the special skit followed by some highlights and thoughts. The summary in particular is a bit shaky since I was kind of sleepy at the time and it has been over 12 hours since the performance, so if you remembered something differently or have seen otherwise let me know!

Bandai Namco Readies Up For The Tales Of Festival 2014 With Zestiria.

From Siliconera:

Bandai Namco always know how to celebrate the Tales of series. While they didn’t have a lavish party on a boat this time around, they recently held a special stage during the “Machi Asobi” event, to talk about the latest features and details on some upcoming info for Tales of Zestiria. (Thanks, Dengeki)

They started the event by talking a bit about their annual “Tales of Festival,” which will be taking place on May 31 and June 1 at the Yokohama Arena. Siliconera attended the Tales of Festival 2013 last year, where Namco first announced Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, so hopefully we can hope to see a few surprises this year as well.

Next, they showed off the game’s latest trailer, along with an introduction to the new character, Laila. There will be cutscenes in Tales of Zestiria where the heroine Alicia won’t be able to see Laila, Miculio, Edna, and the others of the Heavenly Tribe, but she will be able to see them later on in the game.

Namco also shared a feature they mentioned at their NicoNico Super Meeting 3 event—the “Fusionic Chain - LMBS (Linear Motion Battle System).” Producer Hideo Baba has hinted that the keywords behind the system are “Fusion” and “Chain”.

Baba also mentioned that the battle encounters will be different compared to past games, where monsters were on the field, and running into them will commence the battle. While he couldn’t say more, he announced that Tales of Zestiria will have you “naturally enter battles, and naturally back to the field”.

While the producer couldn’t say how far they are into the development of the game, he said that it will still take a while until it is complete. At the moment, the game’s development is at a stage where it can be played, but from this point on, the adjustments will take longer.

Baba concluded by mentioning that the more time that it spent on adjustments, the better the game will be when it’s done.

They ended the event with that a look at the latest issue of the Viva Tales of Magazine.

Tales of Zestiria is currently in development for PlayStation 3.

Let’s start with the new trailer.

The game’s animated scenes will once again be done by animation production studio Ufotable. Here’s a preview:

A new character named Zabida, voiced by Kenjirou Tsuda, was revealed. He uses a handgun in battle and was designed by Minoru Iwamoto.

Next up, the “Kamui” battle system element was revealed. This allows a human and Tenzoku character to merge into one, changing their appearance. Slay and Lailah’s can merge to become a Kamui of the fire attribute.

Tales of Festival 2014, Day 2 report

Just like every year, I’ll make a long report about Tales of Festival 2014 day 2. No photos too this year, since I sat again on a bad location, so I actually have a hard time to look at the stage or the big screen OTL. Because it’s already more than 3 days, so I already forgot some details OTL. Anyway, here we go with the report, and pardon for the bad english like usual.

A look at the crowd on the first day. Before the performances began, all the openings from the Mothership titles played on the big screen above the stage. Fans (mostly girls) screamed at the appearance of their favorite characters. Some of the most popular characters were Tales of Symphonia’s Zelos and Kratos, Tales of the Abyss’s Luke, Asche, Guy, and Jade, Tales of Rebirth’s Veigue and Salle, and Tales of Vesperia’s Raven.

Some of the special mentions for fan shout-outs include Tales of Rebirth’s Claire, as everyone in the stadium screamed her name when she appeared on screen (a joke to protagonist Veigue constantly yelling out her name in the game). Fans also had a reaction to Tales of Destiny 2’s Barbatos, although that reaction was one of great laughter.
