She was noted as a rare beauty; Komachi is a symbol of a beautiful woman in Japan. She also figures among the Thirty-six Poetry Immortals.   Text and photography by Takero Kawabata on Trekearth.com

She is still 3 years old but she resembles and follows her elder colleague’s performance. She can be a good leader in several years. Tradition and culture is passed on from generation to generation like this. That sounds very very nice. Iwate, Japan.  Text and photography by Takero Kawabata on Trekearth.com

This is another unique festival specially for "topknot” or “chignon”. Once upon a time one lady in this region started using this special type hair style (seems to be normal for me), since then around 70 ladies including these girls make a procession with “yukata”(an informal cotton kimono for the summer season)in the city on 19 Sept of her birthday. Before start procession they are very busy for chat.“  Photography and text  by Takero Kawabata on trek earth

In Japan basically almost festivals are coming from the sacred ritual spirits. That is why the connection between the festival and sacred sake(a libation) is quite deep. The participants and the guest very frequently drink sacred sake(a libation). Honestly I like beer and whisky but I was not so strong for sake. However whenever I visited the festivals, I was served for sake and could not help drinking, now I like sake very much. He is a sever of sacred sake(a libation) , stands in front of the entrance and serves all visitors.  Iwate, Japan.  Text and photography by Takero Kawabata on Trekearth.com
